My partner and I haven't been to Machete in years--it was our 7 year anniversary and since we met there (on there outside patio--which was too hot outside for us to sit at one of the tables), we decided to celebrate by going back and sitting at the indoor bar. Inside Machete's is fairly dark, snug, with very loud music--making it hard to hear each other, as well as the bartender. When we first sat down the bar counter was filthy so my partner had to ask our bartender Olivia to wipe it down. Olivia was extremely helpful and nice and immediately had the counter cleaned. We also loved that Olivia was able to suggest tacos when we asked her which three we should try (other then steak--since we were having that for dinner). Olivia suggested: Pollo Rostizado: Rotissere Chicken, Avocado Salsa Verde (minus Crispy Potatoes to make it gluten-free), Camaron: Grilled Shrimp, Poblano Pesto, Mango-Pico, Avocado on Squid Ink Tortilla, and the Langosta *MP: Grilled Lobster, Smoked Avocado, Com, Chile Morita Aioli on Squid Ink Tortilla. The Pollo Rostizado taco was so delicious as well as the Camaron. We also liked the Langosta taco, however the aioli oversaturated the lobster taking away from being able to taste the preseasoned lobster meat, which was a disappointment. We also ordered the Queso Fundico: Acadero Cheese, Onions, Jalapeno, Mezcal (with added Chorizo) which was delicious--we really enjoyed how Machete's queso is made with real cheese versus a "cream cheese," watery cheese, or velveeta. Machete does have great Margaritas (which we have either found inconsistent when ordering another round of the same drink in many Mexican restaurants or just not that great). I had the Coin Margarita and my partner had the Skinny--both drinks were yummy. What really made our experience special was seeing the manager Sam--even though we hadn't been to Machete's in years he still remembered our faces and names. Sam is not only a caring manager, his customer service is impeccable! If you are looking for a casual Mexican restaurant, don't mind loud music, and want delicious food, I recommend you try Machete's.

Service was subpar at best. I had to ask for silverware, after the food was delivered. Secondly food was cold. Literally tortilla out of the bag and on plate. Al pastor cold from the fridge. Only thing warm was the tinga and I bet it's because it being warmed. I ordered the arrachera and it was cold. I ate the food because I was already displeased and didn't want to have a worse experience. Ambiance was actually decent on this holiday. Very disappointed. I also wanted to review them for my blog but not after a terrible experience such as this one. You can see in the pictures that the tortillas weren't event thrown on the grill for 1 second

I met a friend for lunch on a Sunday at Machete. She recommended we order the chips and salsa. Most of the salsas were a bit spicy for me but the chips are clearly homemade and unique, they were addictive. I ordered an Al pastor taco and Arrachera con Chile Relleno Taco. The later was so spicy I had to remove the pepper just to finish it. The Al Pastor was very flavorful. Both tacos were decent size so I was full from that. I had a skinny margarita with salt on the rim. The margarita was as expected but had a bit too much ice in the glass so when I drank it slashed a bit. I would definitely go back and highly recommended stopping in if you are in Cherry Creek and want a quick bit of Mexican food.

This place definitely has a vibe! I'm not a huge fan, but it was fun. It's loud and everything is REALLY close together. The food is delicious. We got tacos and chips and salsa with guacamole. The food actually has flavor, so if you think Taco Bell is full flavored.... This will be way too spicy for you. I like the assortment of salsas and the guacamole was very fresh. The chips are clearly made here and that's awesome. The tacos all tasted amazing and I can't pick which was my favorite. We will be back again, very very good food

Great place for anything that has to do with tequila or mescal or sotol. It was mid to late afternoon on Tuesday. We perspired like nobody's business at the botanical gardens nearby (it was super hot in its mid 90 degrees). We were desperate for something that'd quench our thirst. Machete was simply a perfect place for it. Whether it's a margarita or shot of tequila or mescal or sotol, you will find something on the menu as it's got some variety. I didn't eat any food though (some of our friends ordered chips and salsa and shishito which I didn't partake.) Service was prompt. This is not a super fancy place in any way but fancy appearance doesn't always guarantee the quality of the food they serve. Price wise, they are right at the point where they are not too expensive (and too cheap may not be good from time to time either.) What I had (A Day in Tulum) hit the spot. It's refreshing and easygoing at the same time. If you are looking for some beginner/basic margarita this might be what you should order. My friend's Mescal Blackberry Smash was nice and smoky. I'll probably order this one at my next visit.

This is not a place to go to relax and talk, inside it's loud and busy. But despite all the activity, service is great. Our waitress brought us a bottle of water right away and got our orders quickly. We were a little surprised at how pricey the margaritas are (the Machete - house marg?, top of the list is $14 ) but they are good and strong (we ordered a couple different ones). The selections of salsas is totally worth ordering, all of them very flavorful and different, even the chips are yummy. I'd recommend to order the guacamole because it's also good and come with the salsa. The selection of tacos is impressive and the vegan Yaca Y Champis amazing! No wonder this spot is popular!

Machete is one of our go-to happy hour spots in Cherry Creek! The jardin, al pastor, tinga, and arrachera tacos are three dollars each and margaritas are three dollars off! We also tried the five dollar pineapple shots off the happy hour menu which were amazing! They have a super wide selection of margaritas- definitely try the hibiscus one! The staff at machete is extremely sweet and very accommodating. We will be back very soon!

Good food. Tacos tasted fresh and delicious. House Margarita- the Machete- was refreshing- not too sweet, not too tart.

This is the Michelin restaurant that you go to if you like a more casual / less stuffy experience. Food: 4 Every dish that we ordered was delicious, but slightly on the heavy side without anything light/acidic to break it up. Perhaps it's because of what we chose to order though! Frijoles Puerco: This was a play on refried beans and chorizo. The chorizo has a little kick to it. The sourdough tortillas were delicious and served fresh and warm. Callo De Hacha Al Horno: The scallops were a flavor bomb served in a serrano ponzu and tomato butter. I'm unsure why the scallops were cut into smaller pieces instead of left whole... Enmoladas De Pollo: This was essentially chicken enchiladas cooked in mole so I was skeptical if I would find this dish worthwhile. They proved me wrong as this was one of the best dishes of the night. The mole was flavorful, not too heavy, and the chicken enchilada was so well cooked. Birria De Borrego: The lamb shank was cooked until it was fork tender. After taking it apart, wrap it in a fresh and warm tortilla with refried corn beans and salsa. The lamb was well cooked and made for a good balanced bite, but it did feel special. Service: 5 We set at the chef table and was able to watch as they finished and plated each dish. The chef was attentive without being overbearing/annoying and we had a good conversation with him. Food came out at a good pace. Ambiance: 5 The restaurant is small and cozy. It didn't feel stifling or pretentious as other fine dining restaurants can sometimes feel. This would be perfect for a date or dinner with friends.

Others in my party might not have felt that way. But nonetheless they enjoyed the entire experience. It felt like everything we ate (at first) was pretty spicy. But by the end, the spice level was coming down. Some of the highlights, the sweet potato, the sourdough tortilla with the chorizo burrito. The scallops. The cod. The birria. The mushroom quesadilla. So, pretty much all of it! I enjoyed everything that I ate! I'm interested to come back for happy hour, since they have a few different plates on that menu. For dinner, I'll keep it reserved for special occasions. Try and get a reservation, I think you'll enjoy yourself, if you appreciate craft cuisine. Good job, Alma Fonda Fina Team!

Looking at taco places, I went with something close by to our location and found this hidden gem. Nestled away on a small street corner of Clay Street and 32nd Ave. parking can be scarce, but I'm sure with the right time and a little bit of walking you will find and manage your way here. Outside the restaurant, they have a small seating area which now is winter too cold to enjoy, but I'm sure in the spring and summer and fall time is super enjoyable. The inside, though a little bit tiny and no cozier than going to your mom's house and expecting a family Filled living room/Kitchen. We went down and greeted by three smiling faces. We already looked at the photos online and knew we want tacos so opted with the chicken tacos and Carne Asada taco plates. The tacos place option came with 5 tacos with up to 2 choices of meats the ratio would be 2:3 .. freshly mashed guacamole made in front of you or freshly sliced avocado.. In the pictures I listed you will find each chicken and Carne Asada options. Both slow pictures missing two tacos because we devoured them as soon as we got into the truck. Their street tacos are heavenly! Chicken option was all chicken breast super juicy grilled to perfection five tacos on a plate another two tacos missing because my husband and I devoured it. This plate came we asked it with the guacamole option instead of fresh avocado. The carne asada was just FULL of flavor and the fresh avocado slices with green tomatillo salsa SLAPPED.. the tortillas are super soft and tears from how fresh the flour tortillas were!! Definitely a place to sit and eat there to enjoy the hot food. I'm originally from SoCal and a heavily populated Latinos with amazing tacos and food.. Taqueria La Familia passed the bar high!!
