This place is so clutch when you're looking for a bakery that's open early on the weekend! I've stopped by here a couple of times to pick up some baos for the boys while the yard is getting remodeled. They have a really good variety of baos as well as cafe food that starts at 10:30am. Starting today 3/29, they are even serving breakfast! From 6:30am - 10am, Who doesn't love some HK cafe brekkie? Some of my favorite items are bbq pork buns, pineapple buns, and they even have pineapple bbq pork buns! The Macau egg tarts are also very yummy and the Hong Kong milk tea. The restaurant is clean and the front counter ladies are so sweet and nice. Pastries are baked fresh every morning and if you need a big order, make sure to call them in advance so they can prep for you!

Disappointing Restaurant Experience -- Hoping for Improvement We visited on Saturday, Feb. 7 (party of five, 5:30-6:30pm). The menu is the same all day, starting at 10:30am. We ordered six dishes for about $120 after tip, and unfortunately, the food was mostly mediocre. Examples below: 1. Beef Brisket Noodle Soup was too salty; my 9-year-old nephew only ate the noodles. 2. Tomato Beef Chow Mein lacked flavor at first, though the second version was better after we sent it back. 3. Peking Ribs tasted off and had too much visible fat, making them hard to enjoy. Improvements needed: Consistency - flavors and seasoning need to be more reliable across dishes. Management presence - more oversight would help maintain quality. I've only seen the owner or her son here only 3 of the 10 times that I've visited. Service - check-ins with customers would have gone a long way, especially with only a few tables occupied. I can't recommend dining here for now, but I hope this new family-run spot takes feedback seriously and improves--it has potential.

REVIEW FOR BAKERY ONLY: Good variety of pastry selection. DIY style of service (grab your own pastries). Particular standouts were the pork bun and the Macau egg tart. Prices were very reasonable, pastries under $3. Will be back!

We came here for the first time yesterday for brunch/lunch. We come in from Sacramento and this place is recommended to my sister who lives in San Francisco to try it! The place is clean and beautifully lit very bright inside. We're glad we tried it. The food was excellent. The bakery goods were beautifully displayed. When we finished our brunch/lunch, we got a tray full of bakery goods to bring home to Sacramento. I was so disappointed when I got home that when I bought 3 custard tarts that she placed them up on top of each other and they were flattened by the time I got home certainly not as beautiful as when I bought them. I was embarrassed to give them to my friend who I bought them for! The next time I go there, I will definitely let her know not to put them on top of each other!

Pretty clean restaurant and bakery (Can smell the chlorine, since it was still early and relatively empty)

We arrived 11:30 and the restaurant was still pretty empty. They started us quickly. We ordered quickly before the rush; but I think they are still pretty new and took quick a while for the food to come. The decor was pretty standard Chinese restaurant, food has a little msg and tasted decent, portions were solid. Pricing was not bad. Overall avg about $15/dish. It's pretty convenient that it is attached to the bakery so you can hit two birds with one. They have some unique items like durian pineapple bun.,. Total came to $27/person. Will return for a quick bite when needed.

I kept seeing this place all over IG when LoafHK first opened, so we had to check it out. We've really been missing solid Chinese restaurants in the Sunset, especially after so many OG spots closed post-COVID, and this definitely hit the spot. We ordered the salted fish diced chicken fried rice, which was so good--super flavorful, you could actually taste the salted fish, and it came out piping hot. The salted fish eggplant with diced chicken in a clay pot was also really delicious. The string beans with beef were another standout--very flavorful and well done. The salt and pepper calamari was just okay IMO; the calamari itself was a bit bland and most of the flavor came from the batter. Lastly, we got the tomato beef crispy noodle. It was fine, but not something I'd normally order--though my friends really enjoyed it. Overall, everything we ordered was good, and we'd definitely come back to try more dishes. A lot of people around us were ordering noodle soups, so that's next on our list. Service was amazing. The staff were super nice, and we stayed for a while just chatting and catching up. They didn't mind at all--in fact, they kept refilling our tea and even said, "Let me clear the table so you can sit and chat more comfortably." Like... who does that?! We came on a Friday and it was a bit busy, but the place has such a cozy, homey café vibe--somewhere you can eat, relax, and really enjoy your time. Will definitely be back.

After a group lunch, some suggested checking out this new bakery. Upon entering, a nice selection of Asian pastries awaits. I'm one of those people who likes durian and was pleasantly surprised to find a durian pineapple bun for sale, $4.25. At first I thought it was just the top part of the bun that included a durian flavor, but after a few bites, real durian pieces were inside the bun! It was pretty tasty. I was also impressed with the lemon roll cake slice, these are seemingly hard to find these days. Unfortunately, they didn't have any Taiwan milk tea during my visit. The food menu also looks tasty and very reasonably priced. Hope to try the drinks and food next time I visit. #38/2025

Stopped to kill an hour while my car was being serviced across the street. Had a don tot (egg tart) and Hong Kong milk tea and both were good. The crust on the don tot was not as flaky as some I've had, but it was good and the custard was not too sweet. I enjoyed it and would recommend it. The pastries are in cases and you serve yourself with the tongs and trays off to the side, so you can take your time to decide. Some of the food I saw others eating, especially the tomato beef chow mein, looked good and the prices are reasonable, so maybe I'll come back for lunch soon!

Friendly courteous staff helping us. Food is pretty good with a good variety of choices on the menu, whether you feel like rice plates, clay pots, veggies, appetizers, or anything. Chinese food. Buns for sale up in front too, grab and go style. Not a lot put out because the space is small so staff member was continuously refilling it. Interesting item: durian pastry, very big size for a pastry bun. Good prices Lunch food- -beef chow mean: popular dish, many tables ordered -Mongolian beef: tasty, lot of sauce. Best eaten over rice -salty fish fried rice: if you like salty taste. Smells good -seafood fried noodle: good taste, wish there were more seafood meat pieces because it was more noodle and not so much meat

Chinese bakeries seem to be a dime a dozen out here in the Outer Sunset... Well, add this one to the list! LoafHK bakery opened about three weeks ago, and they are still in their "soft opening" phase. I happened to be nearby, so I decided to head on in and check it out.. Inside, just grab a cafeteria tray and a pair of tongs, and pull what you want from the clear drawers full of freshly baked Chinese pastries on hand. Self-service, ya know.. Friendly counter staff, with a cozy dining area where you can enjoy your treats. While I was there, they had all the standard offerings - Pineapple Buns, Baked Char Siu Buns, Raisin twists, Custard Tarts and many others. Oddly, all of the baked goods looked rather dry, as they lacked the shiny attractive glaze that you see on pastries everywhere else. Perhaps they are trying to be healthy by avoiding that sugary (or eggy) glaze, but it does make the items look a lot less attractive. Nevertheless, I chose to try their cinnamon bun and a baked BBQ Pork Bun just for starters. Cinnamon Bun: Unfortunately, the cinnamon bun was just as dry as it looked, and the cinnamon bun tasted rather bland. Mind you, I'm not a sugar hound, but it would have benefited from being more moist with a stronger cinnamon flavor to it. This was fresh.. but just so dry and without much flavor. I hope they improve on this.. (2.5/5) The BBQ bun was a little better, but even though the bread in the bun was dry and lifeless, the pork was OK, though nothing like the image of the BBQ bun pictured on the sign out in front. I truly wish the best for LoafHK, and again, since this is a soft opening, I do hope they tighten up their game soon!

Staff are very attentive, knowledgeable and polite. We greatly appreciate their staff working so early to prepare the food for us. Also, it is Good service for the breakfast time.

A little Chinese bakery with inside seating soft opened, selling buns, egg tarts, and milk tea. Local neighbors come to support this new business on Noriega Street, but I barely smell the pastries - which is always my first drawl to any bakery. I bought a iced milk tea for $4.50 - a decent price considering bobas are nearly double. Service was a little low in energy and considering they haven't had their grand opening yet, I wish them 加油!Bring up the vibe and smile for success!

This restaurant replaced Men Kee Restaurant where my family went for years for take out. They closed due to COVID and recently a new restaurant/owner took over! This place has a bakery section which you will see it right as you enter and then on the right is their restaurant part. I thought this was an interesting concept as you don't normally see a restaurant doing this. We came on a Tuesday night and this is what we ordered: Calamari $12.95: So crispy and yummy! Great portion. Just wish it came with some lemon wedges. Salted fish, diced chicken, and eggplant clay pot $16.95: This was slightly to oily in my opinion, but my oh my it had so much salted fish!!! You definitely need to eat rice with this dish. Eggplants were cooked perfectly, so soft and love the crisp on the skin. Fujian-style fried rice $14.95: Wasn't a huge fan of this, everything felt a bit soggy. Almost felt like I was eating an undercooked porridge. Probably wouldn't order it again~

I could see the balloon that held all of the anticipated excitement my husband had of showing me a "new" spot (it was new to me) all but heartbreakingly deflate. Sigh. Not wanting that crestfallen look to prevail, I told him we'd try again. A hole in the wall that is takeout only, the customarily drab sunset weather doesn't do the vibe any favors out here. When it's overcast & cold outside, does anyone want cold pineapple buns to go with it? That was my first experience, so I was curious about how the do over was going to go. Night & day... Yelpess with the mostess Cherylynn was spot on when she said the buns need to be warm & eaten asap. This is key to experiencing a stellar treat over a humdrum one. On our 2nd visit they were hot. They were pillowy. They were divine. Gloomy sunset weather? It could be RAINING outside & I wouldn't care right now. It was a total 180. Butter. Do it! I suggest you go for the gold, kerrygold Irish butter. Matcha. I love matcha so it's an automatic order but it's a definite winner. Not too sweet, because matcha isn't naturally sweet. Custard. Hubby's favorite. He's a vanilla head, so... Salted egg yolk. Hubby's other favorite. I like, he loves. Ube. WOW. Better than the matcha which is weird coming from me. The Ube filling BAKES INTO the interior & it is amazing! I wished I'd gotten 6 of these. The puffs. How friggin adorable. Just throw in 6 puffs. Or 18. Then dip them in the side of custard that comes with. If you get extra to take home (& you should), all you have to do is be sure to reheat them as per the directions on the box. Just place them on a baking sheet lined with foil, or an oven rack (I've done both, both work), at 325 for around 10 minutes. I think 12-15 minutes is actually ideal. I couldn't believe how soft they were after this. Like new! The next day, after being refrigerated all night! I know weird, but fact! A couple of days later I requested that we go again next Saturday. Like when you were a kid & you couldn't wait for Friday because Friday's were pizza night. That crestfallen look my husband had was replaced with delighted satisfaction. Glee even. We went again the following Saturday. 5 stars

Our cousins were familiar with both bakeries and graciously volunteered to be our foodie guides as we drove to these two bakeries Saturday morning. After visiting Tartine and B Patisserie, Arizmendi was our final bakery and our last stop on our Bay Area foodie tour. Just like the other two bakeries, Arizmendi was a popular destination, it was different than the other two in the selection of the pastries, and I highly recommend their corn cranberry scone and their cheese focaccia. Arizmendi is also located in the Mission District specifically on Valenica and 24th Street. The bakery is in between a Royal gas station and the KitTea Cat Lounge. Parking consists of street parking and just like the other bakeries, parking could be challenging, but Arizmendi is worth the trouble parking and walking to this confectionary paradise. This bakery is a business where their baked goods are enjoyed at home since there is minimal seating. What's unique about this bakery compared to the other two is how the baked goodies are selected. It is self serve where it's a little hectic trying to maneuver around other customers to pick the pastries and breads you desire. The young black lady behind the register who checked us out was courteous, friendly, and took care of us quickly. As you enter Arizmendi, there are four wooden display cases with plexiglass holding scones, cinnamon rolls, muffins, pies, croissants, focaccia, cookies, and shortbreads. As you peer through the plexiglass to decide what to select, make sure to grab the provided wax to pick up your baked goods and place them in the provided bags. One of our friends asked us to grab scones, so scones were one of the items we knew we were going to purchase. My wife selected other items, but I asked her for a focaccia because my cousin said that Arizmendi was know for their pizza breads. I highly recommend you purchase their corn cranberry scones. These scones are hearty, the cranberry is plentiful, and I really enjoyed these while I was drinking a coffee at home. The focaccia I picked was a cheese focaccia made with poblanos, kale, and queso fresco. That square pizza bread was a savory revelation where I devoured that as snack after heating it in our home toaster oven. It was cheesy, the poblanos and kale were tasty, and I completely agreed with my cousin's assessment about their pizza bread. We're so grateful to our cousins for taking valuable time to serve as our foodie tour guides during our trip to San Francisco. Bay Area denizens are blessed to have three bakeries where they can satisfy their pastry, dessert, and bread cravings. We're fans of Arizmendi's scones and pizza bread.
