So I've lived in cloverly all my life and have been wanting to try this Chinese restaurant. However, I'm very picky with Chinese restaurants due to previous experiences with taste etc. I saw a few people waiting outside the restaurant and asked them what they thought about it and most people reported "it was good, it's okay" so expectations weren't that high. Service was okay, nothing spectacular. I decided to order 4 piece chicken wings and spicy fried rice. The rice was spicy and chicken wings were crispy and cooked pretty well. The rice had no flavor, i also didn't get any soy sauce and didn't realize till i got home that she only gave me 4 packets of ketchup. Overall the food was pretty mid, Nothing special. When I moved to this area, oh wow, like a decade ago, I discovered Lin's, and I've been stopping by regularly since. This is a typical American Chinese food spot, great for takeout or delivery via your favourite app (they don't offer in house delivery). You'll find your rather standard menu: hot and sour, general tsao, beef broccoli, happy family, all that. There's also a few things that break from the traditional items: try the general tsao shrimp, it's my favourite. It's hard to set yourself apart with this menu, and it's such a matter of preference. But, I've never had anything bad here: it's consistently good, and I prefer them to others. They're also a family run business. Over the years, I've seen the kids go from colouring in the corner to helping at the register or in the kitchen. This beats the typical constant turn over and new faces of other places (and likely contributes to the consistent quality). They're also genuinely nice, kind, and friendly. Pros: Hot n Tasty food Good portions Cons; Chincy on meat in some dishes. Our first time ordering from Lin's. We had a fairly large order but I am just going to cover a few items. We ordered takeout and my daughter picked it up so I cant review the resteraunt or service. Roasted Pork in Oyster Sauce; Was very tasty however there were more onions that Pork and the Oyster Sauce was a bit different tasting and bland than I'm used too. Pineapple Rice w/Chicken; Very good, tasty and loaded with Chicken. Fried Dumplings; Fair, crundy with very little filling. Steamed Dumplings; Good, average, what we expected. Won Ton Soup; Good, it had a flavor that was different and It took me a while to figure it out and they put Cilantro in it which made it flavorful and The Wontons were big. Fried Rice; Fair, tasted good but had zero vegetables in it like we are used to getting in our rice at other places. My son got a Shrimo dish with vegatables that I cant remember the name but that was tasty but we counter 3 shrimp in the dish. We will try again as we were satisfied. read more

Tried to use the QR code to place a phone order based on the instructions at the front counter but could not access the website. We had to beg for a menu from the grumpy woman at the front counter. (The menus are kept behind the counter which was quite strange.) We placed our order and while waiting were told rather unpolitely to "wait in the chairs to the left." We felt like I was in grade school!!! Had we not paid for the order, we would have left. The food is unremarkable and is probably is the worst Chinese food that we have had in years. (Even Eddie's Sub Shop in Wheaton beats them, and they are very problematic.) Since we dislike bad food and being yelled at, we will not be returning. read more

It's basic Chinese takeout. The prices are good and the food was made with love. I ordered the generals Tso's chicken because for me if you can make good general then we can do business in the future. And they made me very happy with their interpretation of generals chicken. I once watched an entire documentary on generals Tso's chicken so don't laugh when I say such well thought out ideas! The chicken was awesome and the brown rice was good for my health. You can tell a lot about a protein when it goes well with plain brown rice. The portion size was good for a lunch special and I literally couldn't eat it all myself. That's a testament, because these places are getting a little stingy with their portions as of late and I'm glad we found a place that knows bigger is always better! read more

It really just depends on what you order. Also, expect it to be super messy. We went with the crispy orange beef, beef lo mein, triple delight and fried rice. The orange beef was really delicious and crispy. It was sweet, savory and the beef was cooked well. The triple delight tasted different than I'm used to at the Chinese restaurants around here. It was a little bland and one-note for a dish with three different meats and so many ingredients. The fried rice was also kind of dry and basic. The takeout boxes were dripping and covered in sauce. There was really no practical way to eat out of them. I'm sure Lin's is a better experience when you dine in. read more

Weirdest Chinese food I've ever had! Nothing like Kung Pao chicken Should look or taste. It was like somebody who had never eaten Chinese food tried to make a dish they have heard about but didn't really have a clue. There were maybe three peanuts in the whole dish and they were tinyblack I hope they were peanuts anyway. The flavor was really really weird not Kung Pao sauce should taste. Was new to the area and looked up the closest Chinese restaurant. My wife and I both became ill after eating the food about three hours later. I called the restaurant to let them know in case anyone else called. I wasn't calling to complain, just to let them know. As no stars is not an option, one star it is all due to the customer service. Food is BASIC takeout Chinese food at a Barebones operation / NO frills whatsoever. On a normal night, no serious complaints as they are fast and satisfy a certain genre in my mind (basic takeout). Here's the issue; last night the food tasted particularly greasy and had a burnt flavor as if it wasn't fresh or an ingredient had spoilt. As we've been loyal customers to this family takeout spot for YEARS, we called to talk to the owner. Surprisingly she was unrepentant and demanded we DRIVE BACK to show her the food-OH, btw she stated it HAD to be THAT night. SO OKAY..my husband makes the trek at 10:30 at night. When he arrives the owner pokes and prods at our food (yuck), takes it in the back (why?), and comes out to declare it is perfectly fine. Without tasting it, how would she know? Then, she returns the greasy, unappealing food which had been manipulated by BOTH her and the staff to note to my husband, "You can only get a refund on ONE item" She did not offer to remake the food or validate our concerns about the taste/freshness. Came here the other day with a friend after discussing about what to eat for about an hour. Let me set the mood real quick, there we were chit chatting at our secret location outside to observe social distancing when all of a sudden we both had a craving for something warm, tender, and delicious. Keep in mind it was around 8pm and the temperature was dropping precipitously and the hunger was growing. So we decided for a throwback and came to Lins. We ordered on the way down and when we got to the restaurant the food was ready for us behind the counter. General Tso and hunan chicken combos with diet sodas. Did I mention we were on a diet? Mediocre quality and preparation. Very ordinary: not extraordinary; not special, exceptional, or great by any standards. Chicken lo-mein was tired, bland and mundane, not tasty. The fried rice portion was sizable, probably 3 cups of a poorly executed attempt at Asian cooking matched by the lo-mein with a lil' bit of meat in this to-go order. They'll be in trouble when competition shows up in Kingman. The property itself looks tired and worn, the management doesn't appear to be worried by the many minor details that encompass a professionaly run restaurant. The ball has been dropped here, what a shame, we could use a good Chinese restaurant here in Kingman. The Beef Lo-mein and egg rolls we had in our takeout were substandard also. A while ago, as I drove by and was hungry, I stumbled on this restaurant (essentially, a carryout joint run by a husband and wife team with literally ONE table). It is rather out of the way in Cloverly (despite its Silver Spring address)...way up on New Hampshire Avenue above Randolph Road past that stretch where there are various houses of worship (a couple of churches, a Buddhist temple, and just north of the mosque). Since my first visit, I have been back on a handful of occasions over the past 2 years (usually, driving out of the way each time). The reason? It's the curry chicken. I happened to order it the first time I was there and was really impressed by it. While it features the usual filler vegetables like onions, green peppers, and carrot slivers, there was a fair amount of chicken too...wonderfully moist, shiny pieces of chicken in a creamy curry sauce that really showed some skill. A lot of Chinese restaurants "velvet" their chicken through various means (usually through flash frying after marinating the chicken in egg white, corn starch, etc.) Here, in this rather nondescript carryout joint, I was so shocked at how well they pulled if off and the results that they achieved! They really nailed it...While I have not ordered any other chicken dish there, I can imagine that the same velvety chicken probably shows up in other dishes as well. As for the other meats (like beef), it gets a bit dicey. Once, in an experimental mood, I ordered beef chow fun (something that you just don't do usually at a carryout shop in the middle of nowhere...especially, if the proprietors are not Cantonese). The beef was slightly battered (?), slightly fried (?), and did not look the part of the beef that you would normally find in beef chow fun. The chow fun itself was a bit clumpy and oily and was mixed in with some napa cabbage (or something resembling it). Clearly, this was not authentic beef chow fun. The end result was edible but nothing worthy of a second ordering on a future occasion. Overall, Lin's is a decent little carryout. It is family owned and run (like many such places). Each time that I visit, there is a little girl there running around as her mother minds the counter and her dad cooks in the back. There are hand written addendums to the menu posted on the walls (which gives the place a rather dull and dingy feeling in my opinion); and, its haphazard organization of chairs and cardboard boxes--juxtaposed next to a hulking soda case in the right of the storefront gives the place a distinctly casual...very casual feeling. The fact that the little girl may be watching TV in the waiting area or riding her bicycle just outside the store also gives the place "color" or warmth. Or, it could just be off-putting...who knows? If you close one eye, you could imagine being in a back alley hole-in-the wall in Xi'an. read more

The broccoli with garlic sauce tasted watered down with barely any flavor. The egg foo young sauce was flavorless and watery but the egg was decent. This is the first time I have ordered food from this restaurant and it's less than 3 mins. away from my home. I was surprised it was good since I tried another restaurant that was local a few days ago and it was terrible. I am a foodie and if I have time I can make some really cool food, so I am picky. I would give this place 3.5 stars, but I can only go with 3 or 4. I liked that the food was not overcooked at all. The veggies were still crisp and the meat tender. The sauce was a little too thick (to much corn starch) and the flavor was decent. What I didn't like is the lunch special I got was put into a take-out container with the rice. I like it when the rice is separate. Their website is really bad and needs to be improved. Well, everything went well today, but I will see if this place is consistently good. Often I have been to several restaurants that lack consistency. It sucks when your frequent a good restaurant and on some occasions the food it just bad. The food isn't anything special. It's just a typical Chinese takeout and it seems like their lo mein comes pre packaged instead of cooked. I would give it 3 stars but I gave it 2 because of their son. I ordered a $7 order and paid with card. He didn't even tell me there's a $10 minimum on credit cards and instead just charged me an extra $3. Never going there again I do not appreciate being charged 43% on top of my bill without even being told that I should pay cash for orders less than $10. read more

Have only come here one but my experience was great. I called in my order ahead of time and the food was almost ready when I got there. Really sweet cashier.
