Lingo opened up very recently and my friends and I came here for our girls birthday celebration. All the staff were really friendly and super helpful when we were looking at the menu. We tried a lot of things on their menu but would love to try all the other dishes next time since everything we ordered was delicious. Some of my favorites were the smoked tamago sando, homemade milk bread, albacore tuna, steak tartare and you HAVE to get the lingo beef pie. My friend had a wonderful time here and had a nice surprise with the desserts (which all were delicious by the way). I highly recommend this new gem spot! read more

Food was great - love the fried chicken!! Service was good - had to chase down the waiter a few times though so service can be better.

Went to brunch here with the girls and it was super fun. Everything we ordered was delicious. Nice, attentive staff, and gorgeous space. read more

Finally made it here for brunch and it was fantastic! Everyone was absolutely lovely - really warm and super accommodating! Food was delicious and drinks were interesting in a good way. The space was elegant but inviting - indoors and outdoors. Child friendly huge plus. read more

Location's nice, even though getting there from Uptown Manhattan, especially, if you want to go romantic way and take the ferry all the way from E 90, you're gonna spend way more travel time than you're expecting. However, that's not Lingo's fault, that's just the lack of my commuting skills going to Brooklyn. Now to cut to the chase, i couldn't be more impressed with the place. Absolutely everything is flawless. The staff, the ambience, the meal. The staff is the greatest, and they really know what they're doing. Not only they're good mannered and friendly to the customers, they really get along among themselves. Everything just works better than you could ever expect. Frankly, i think this is the top level staff i've ever had a chance to be served by. The ambient is nice, neither too posh nor too sterile. The music volume's perfect, and the selection is just for my style. I've heard some tracks of Pond, Tame Impala, couldn't get any better. And as for the meal - i'm one hundred percent sure, this place is going to earn the Michelin star. Sadly, i'm not equipped with sharp enough of the pen to describe their kitchen as they deserve, but i do absolutely swear by it. I had bone marrow tar tar, didn't take a picture of it as i was too hungry, but i've never ate anything like that before, and with the addition of sea urchin, it was absolutely fabulous. Kakuni pork - i eat this kind of pork all the time, as it's one of my favourite dishes, i eat it in Tokyo, i eat it in London, i eat it in NYC constantly. This one, from now on, is probably in my top 5 favourite kakuni pork places from all over the world. Branzino - A+, desert - A+. I'm running out of the words now. Anyway, i'm in love with this place now and i'll be coming back. Honestly, i don't remember ever been so impressed. Thank you, Lingo, for the wonderful sunday evening. You're elite. read more

The place has a nice vibe. It's near one of my favorite parks. It gets two stars for those things or one for each, respectively. Now the food. It sucks. Corn tempura is actually corn fried. Cob and all. You can't eat the cob, so you end up just nibbling on the corn and realize you just paid 15 bucks for half a corn. Why not put a damn bamboo stick in the cob and fry the whole thing so the customers know not to bite into the whole thing and lose a tooth? Why not make it less difficult for people to eat by adding such a skewer? Beef tartare is bland probably because it comes with four instant usually salty Korean seaweed. But that still doesn't mean you can ignore seasoning and adding some tanginess. Yes, instant seaweed. For those who know that thing is like 10 bucks for like 100. Traditionally, this type of dish is served with actual nori, but if you are going to serve that instant shit then at least cover it from view in the open kitchen. This is why most restaurants with open kitchens transfer their sauces to nondescript containers. I also tried yellowtail collar. The theme is becoming clear. Everything is hard to eat. Yes, it's a collar. Yes, I had many before. Yes, I go to Japan. This is shit collar that is too difficult to eat. Now the mains. The prawn miiso thing I ordered had three prawns. Head and all. Bunch of clams in shells in a light Japanese miso broth. Again, the theme is difficult as shit to eat. Everything is subpar from flavor to presentation. Whats more, they give you a flat plate to put all the shells and whatever on so everyone in the restaurant can see your half chewed up shells and whatever. Perhaps have some sense to invest in proper containers for the purpose? I also saw other tables order spicy chicken. If you saw fried spicy chicken on the menu, you expect like a few drumsticks and wings, right? Nope. Not this place. It's a whole chicken fried on a plate. But it's OK you get a fork and knife to eat it. Theme? Yes, it's difficult to eat. The place is a joke. Whoever manages or opened the spot needs to check the details of the customer experience and check the entire process from start to finish. One positive is that the drinks aren't half bad. They are on the sugary side, so if you like dry martinis, this isn't it, but if you like margaritas and sweeter cocktails, this place works. read more

The space is very appealing, while giving the impression it is nowhere in Brooklyn; it resembles nothing on its block. I thought the drinks were solid, if not quite as amazing as similar cocktails nearby, but they were good. I wasn't quite as blown away as others both in terms of service and food, but I can see myself returning. The corn tempura was divisive. Others at our table loved it, but it felt comically lazy to me - why have the tempura over the whole cob itself? Texturally, in one's mouth, I wouldn't describe the sensation as necessarily pleasant. The meat pie was good, but it's elevated shepherd's pie, with a price tag to go along with that. The strawberry cream cheese ice cream was just...strawberry ice cream, and almost a bit bland. There were a few other things we ordered, but I don't remember what they were (which might be telling) and they don't seem to be on the menu anymore either. Nothing was bad, and everything was subtly satisfying in its own way without being all that memorable. Service was friendly, and fairly attentive, but ditzy to the point where it resembled a Steve Martin short film. It started right away where dishes were being served to us a bit too fast. And then we got our drinks after we already finished our appetizers. Then I was charged for a round of drinks that never arrived at all (they apologized and comped the drinks) and then while there were several of us at the table, the server mistakenly charged the entire meal to my card. Things kept happening *to me* like I was BJ from Righteous Gemstones. One or two things, sure. Five or six? It won't matter in the end what I think. While our dinner felt a bit *workshopped*, by the time we left there was a line out the door, and perhaps deservedly so. For now, Lingo is a hit. So I can only imagine the restaurant continuing to improve and up its game. read more

Lingo was amazing! I went here on a date night and the ambiance and food were both top tier. We got a bunch of the appetizers and they were all amazing. In my opinion, the best appetizers were the agedashi burrata, hamachi sashimi, and roasted bone marrow steak taretare. All three of those dishes were so so good! For the main courses, we got the beef pie and miso cod, which were both great. I especially loved the beef pie and my girlfriend really loved the miso cod. For dessert, we had both the panna cotta and the sticky toffee pudding. Both were delicious, but I especially loved the sticky toffee pudding. The lime ice cream that paired with the dessert was to die for. Would definitely recommend this place, the service was amazing too and I will be coming back soon! read more

Let me start by saying how kind our waitress Ashley was. This place did not miss with the service. The place definitely gets crowded but still maintains a calm vibe. A nice place for a romantic night out. We tried the octopus carpaccio which we loved, the milk bread, the warm burrata in dashi. The bone marrow steak tartare was sold out which we were sad about so we opted for the burrata as per Ashley's recommendation and we were not disappointed! We will be back for the bone marrow though! For the main courses we shared the whole branzino and meat pie with braised beef curry and bone marrow and we loved both! We also tried the Mille feuille potatoes. Literally everything we ate was phenomenal. We were so stuffed but couldn't resist the banana parfait and the panna cotta. Both hits as well! I still think about the parfait. We try many places and few we would return to, this is definitely on the list. Lingo you will see us again soon! read more

Exceptional food, great drinks, excellent service. A great addition to the neighborhood!

*4.5 stars* A seriously underrated spot! Randomly found them and was intrigued by their eclectic menu so I got a reservation for a Saturday evening. I think you could probably just walk in too though bc there were quite a few tables available! We started off with the momo white peach & margarita but thought the drinks were alright, nothing memorable. We then opted for: 1. Bone marrow steak tartare (5/5): SO good, fatty yet refreshing and they give nori to make little hand rolls. Would def get this again 2. Crispy potato Mille-Feuille (5/5): amaazingggg- crispy potato that was almost sweet with a nice contrast from the dashi cream and tobiko. Still thinking about this 3. Beef Lingo Pie (4.5/5): True comfort dish! The curry was so rich, had tons of meat, and the pastry on top was so so good. Taking off half a star bc I almost wish you can get a side order of the pastry or something to dip in the curry and it started tasting a bit salty towards the end. Still recommend this! 4. Soba cha Madeline's: DELICIOUS- the Madeline's were so soft, fluffy, and warm! The mascarpone dip was a perfect pairing & if you're a fan of warm/cold combo dessert, this is it. I'll definitely be returning! read more

Went there for brunch, the miso eggplant strattoast was delicious as was the Hokkaido milk bread and miso toffee bundt. The miso cod sando was good. Don't bother with the duck confit sando - it was overly sweet and they shredded the duck and breaded it like Katsu for a sandwich - didn't work for me. Service was great, ambience really cool/chill other than a very loud party next to us. read more

Definitely a repeat. Highly recommend read more

Went on a Friday night for my birthday dinner and overall, was ok. Please work on the kinks and family friendliness. Decor - lovely place, very bright and hopefully they make use of the outdoor space in the back. Food - decent, some hits and some were just ok. The milk bread could have been softer and the chicken was just fine and bordering on dry. Steak, cauliflower, rice, potatoes, and panna cotta were great. Price - very reasonable Service - servers were pleasant but given the newness of the restaurant, they really could have been more attentive. Child friendliness - it was NOT child friendly, at all. We were not the only table with a young child and they had no high chairs. I know its a new restaurant but this is pretty standard. Big miss given how many families live in the area. read more

As a 22 year resident of NYC, I can honestly this is one of my favorite restaurants. Amazing food, simple but elegant ambiance and casual vibe. Too many recommendations, but the spicy fried chicken and beef pie are excellent. read more

Food was good/ok but many areas to be improved, especially for the price point. I think with some edits to their menu the restaurant could be much better, since there is a lot of potential. We had a good time but would not go back. - Milk bread: very yummy and comes out on a warm skillet - Prawn bisque with egg custard and raw scallop/shrimp: Too many components to this and hard to get everything in one bite. The bisque foam was good and had a great seafood flavor, but there needed to be more of it. I think they could have left off the raw scallop and shrimp because it didn't add anything flavor wise. If they served this in a bigger bowl instead of a tiny cup, it would have been easier to eat. The egg custard had a nice texture and was warm - would have been great with more of the bisque. - Bone marrow with steak tartar - Definitely a share dish if you get it. My husband got it for himself and it was huge. He enjoyed it. - Duck - the plating of this was odd, and kind of hard to eat. It was suggested to eat all 3 components together, but that was very difficult. The duck was cooked pretty well but slightly tough. The endive was my favorite component on the dish but I wanted more of that instead of the other fibrous component on there - I couldn't figure out what it was. The sauce was too sweet. Overall the dish was ok. I like duck so I still enjoyed it. - Miso cod - my husband got this and said it was a bit oily. Still good but areas to be improved. - Banana Pafe - I would recommend against this dessert. First it was huge, in a way that made it hard to eat. It was served in a big, tall milkshake glass with many layers. It was impossible to get a bite of each layer at once, and the banana custard was all the way at the bottom. There was an herbal jelly in the middle that neither of us liked. There were also cake and crunch components added in which didn't make it taste better - just dry. There was hot fudge listed as an ingredient but it was in cold chunks. So it was not really a harmonious dessert and overall too sweet without the hits of banana flavor I was hoping for. Drinks: I got the kiwi spritz (non alcoholic), which they make with their own kiwi syrup. Sweetness needs to be dialed back because it tasted like candy. But otherwise the flavor was good. I also asked for tea, and they brought me a very small cup with 1 tea bag in it. I would expect a pot of tea at a restaurant like this. They also didn't even bring a saucer to put the tea bag on. They need to serve this in a nicer way. My husband had straight mezcal so I can't speak to their mixed drinks. read more

Extremely polite and attentive service. We loved the cocktails, fried chicken, cauliflower, and scallops/noodles. Very pretty decor but it gets a bit loud (concrete floors and open kitchen). read more

One of the best meals I have had in a long time. Fabulous food, ambiance and service. The milk bread, the steak tartare, the corn fritters, salmon, and the eggplant burrata we're 10/10 appetizer wise. The scallops, pot pie, chicken and steak were delish. Cocktails were unique and the desserts were so good - ice cream, panna cotta and olive oil cake. Will absolutely be back, such a fantastic and memorable meal. Thank you! read more

Well-executed, balanced dishes. We had what we thought were the top hits - tamago sando, beef pie, fried chicken, milk bread, steak, scallop and all did not fail. Some of the surprising hits though were the cabbage, asparagus and cauliflower (esp for the aging, health-conscious among us). Trout in lettuce wrap also a stand-out. We'll be back! read more

The best!! Emily and team are at it again. I visited the restaurant last week and will definitely be back. You can't go wrong but make sure you try the beef pot pie, the steak tartare and the crispy potatoes. I'm still thinking about the curry deliciousness of the beef pot pie. Cocktails are fantastic too! They play great music but still very easy to have a conversation there. Every part of our meal at Lingo was phenomenal! We felt so well cared for by everyone we encountered. Our server had great recommendations when we had trouble narrowing down our meal selections to only a few dishes. We ultimately settled on: Smoked Tamago Sando, Crispy Cauliflower, Miso Eggplant and Burrata, Albacore Tuna, and Seared Scallop and Bottarga Somen Noodle. While EVERY part of this meal was incredible, I was especially enamored by the Albacore Tuna and the Seared Scallop. The tuna was refreshing, light, and flavorful. The seared scallop had a beautiful texture and was served on top of somen noodles with tiny pieces of lime scattered throughout, which gave lovely surprise pops of extra flavor. For dessert, we tried the oolong tea ice cream, which made all my tea-loving dreams come true, and the sesame oil cake, which had the most gentle and deep sesame flavor. I cannot wait to go back to Lingo to try more of the menu. I've already started planning my meal! THANK YOU to Chef Emily and the incredible Lingo team for making a regular Friday night dinner feel like such a special occasion. read more
