We decided to try Lingo for brunch and were seated pretty quickly. The host was friendly and accommodating, and we were happy to get a table on the lovely outdoor patio, which made for a great brunch setting. We ordered the Japanese breakfast set, the slow-cooked pork sando, and the single-stack apple tart pancake. Overall, everything was tasty and well prepared. The Japanese breakfast had some standout elements, especially the generous portion of fish, the flavorful pickled vegetables, and the perfectly cooked rice. That said, we were hoping for a bit more variety to round out the set. The slow-cooked pork sando was enjoyable, although the fries were probably our least favorite part of the meal. They tasted like frozen fries, which felt a little out of place compared to the quality of everything else. We also really enjoyed the apple tart pancake--it was a delicious way to end brunch. Overall, we had a great experience and are looking forward to coming back to try more of the menu.

Lingo is a Japanese fusion restaurant. I like the intimate interior and I felt it's pretty cozy and quiet! I ordered two small plates: the milk bread and the Mentaiko pasta. I really like the butter with that came with the bread! It was mixed in with seaweed and I felt that was pretty unique. It's certainly my first time trying seaweed butter! I also like the spicy kick that came with the pasta! I also had their beef pie as a large plate. When I tasted the pie crust, it caught my attention, I'm guessing it might have been the caramelization.

4/5 for brunch. Brunch menu looks more enticing to me personally. We stopped by Lingo for brunch around 11am on a Saturday during a July summer day and had an enjoyable meal overall. While everything was well executed, I've had Japanese breakfast sets elsewhere that offered a bit more variety in the side dishes. The traditional Japanese breakfast was satisfying. The miso soup was comforting, the grilled fish came in a generous portion and was wonderfully tender without being overly seasoned, and the pickled vegetables were delicious. I also enjoyed the spinach, along with the option to mix a raw egg and ikura over the rice for a classic Japanese breakfast experience. For something sweet, we ordered the apple tarte Tatin pancake, which was absolutely delicious. One tip: order the single stack unless you're dining with a larger group. The pancakes are incredibly thick and filling. We shared the single stack between two people and it was more than enough. The default double stack honestly looks large enough to share among 3-5 people. My partner ordered the Japanese char siu sandwich, which was packed with flavor and featured incredibly tender meat. The only disappointment was the French fries--they came in a fairly small portion and tasted like frozen fries rather than fresh-cut, which felt a bit out of place considering the quality of the rest of the meal. Overall, Lingo offers a solid breakfast with quality ingredients and thoughtful execution. While I would have loved a little more variety in the traditional breakfast set and better fries, we'd happily come back to explore more of the menu and would definitely consider bringing family along next time.

Portion small so don't rec to share with more than 3ppl! Cute space and decent customer service! The food was yum but portion is too small, nothing was too special enough for us to come back or rec to others

Lingo offers solid Japanese-American fusion dishes. Lovely for brunch! We ordered their Japanese breakfast set, miso cod sando, CLT sando, their spicy chicken sando (LOL I guess we ordered all their brunch sandos), hokkaido milk bread, and the apple tart pancakes. Our table's favorites were their miso cod sando and their apple tart pancakes. The pancakes were not too sweet, and the caramel ice cream paired perfectly. Overall, service was great and attentive!

The food here was pretty good! My friends and I came on the weekend for brunch. The apple tart tatin pancakes were very fluffy and filling. The lingo beef pie, although kinda expensive at $43, was well seasoned and juicy, would recommend! In terms of sides, the Hokkaido milk bread was fluffy and light, and that parm butter made it exceptionally tasty. Service was quick. The restaurant inside is also very well decorated. There's a little outdoor seating in the back that is covered overhead.

Here only to review ambiance, cocktail and happy hour.... I had been recommended to stop in by a bartender that usually works the Thursday night (he had been at another local bar on the day his restaurant was closed). Although that bartender wasn't there... the one who remained carefully crafter my cocktail with attention to detail and precision. I ordered a shiny remedy 12$ (happy hour) and was blown away by how delicious this cocktail was... fresh ginger was almost the art if the show but was delicate enough to not overpower this cocktail. Friendly staff and a beautiful bar... I look forward to returning to try the food! Patio was open (pleasant surprise). Cant wait to return!

We came back to Lingo to try their dinner menu because we enjoyed the brunch so much. Turns out they have a set menu option ($38) on Thursdays, so we ordered the Grilled Wild Ramp and Corn Donabe Rice and the Fish of the Day (which was Miso Cod). The set also came with a Gem and Chrysanthemum Salad, and Japanese pickled Vegetables. Outside the set menu, we ordered the Tako Wasa Octopus Carpaccio ($19) and Wild Caught Black Sea Bass ($37). The a la carte items we ordered were the stars of the meal. Wow. The octopus carpaccio had a great combination of tart, sweet, and freshness. and the black bass was fried perfectly, I made sure the clean the bones of that fish from head to toe! The staff continues to be very attentive and friendly. Would definitely recommend Lingo.

Beautiful space with delicious food - my partner and I especially liked the bone marrow dish & weekend special stew. The curry in the pie would have benefited from some rice on the side since it was a bit heavy to eat solo without any carbs to soak it up. I also really enjoyed their take on pb&j w sesame in the dessert! We'll be back to try other dishes here. For logistics, it was hard to call in for a reservation last minute - no one answered the phone but there were lots of seats available when we showed up on a Friday night so it all worked out. Later on into the meal, I received an automated text asking if I tried to make a reservation. There was also a decent amount of street parking nearby (for those who are driving over)

Cute little restaurant in Greenpoint! A group of us 3 were here on a Wed night and shared everything: - Hokkadio milk bread - Fuyu burrata - Bone marrow tartare - Miso black cod - Snow crab udon - Duck - Lingo beef pie - Squash and sage rice Everything was plated beautifully and tasted great. The beef pie could definitely use a side of rice since it's pretty rich and savory. Service was great and super attentive throughout the night. This is definitely on the pricier side though, given the portion sizes. We each got one drink (1 being a yuzu soda), and total after tax & tip came out to $320ish. I'd definitely come back to check out their brunch menu.

Been wanting to go here for a bit and so happy got the chance to. Ordered: beef pie, CLT Sando and the apple pancakes. Very was extremely deliciously deff want to come back and check out their dinner menu. Of the 3 things we ate... the CLT Sando was prob my fav. Highly recommend checking out this spot.

Lingo is a really solid brunch spot that mixes American and Japanese. The menu has a good range of both sweet and savory options, so no matter what you're in the mood for, you'll probably find something that hits the spot. Being able to take a bite of their really delicious duck sando, and finishing with their pancake really made it a satisfying experience. Overall, everything I had was simple, comforting, and genuinely enjoyable. The service was very attentive throughout the meal. And the interior is simple but still put-together. It was not too casual and not too fancy which i really appreciate! Overall would recommend! Tldr; good range of savory to sweet on the menu, great service, and cute interior

Such a lovely dinner - perfect for date nights and catch ups. Service was great and the food was spot on to what I expected. The atmosphere is nice too (you can dress up or down and be alright). I will be dreaming of the short rib (not the beef pie). Who would've thought wasabi + short rib + mushrooms = match made in heaven. 4 of us ordered: -Hokkaido Milk Bread (10/10) -Ebi Bisque Chawanmushi (8/10 - love chawanmushis and this was on par with others, nothing too extraordinary but still delicious) -Grilled Caraflex Cabbage (7/10 - hard to cute and share with a group) -Crispy Potato Mille-Feuille (9/10 - you can order another one cause it comes with 3pc usually) -Weekend Special Niku Shortrib Jaga (1000000000000/10 went on Saturday - it was a short rib with wasabi and oh my god I wanted to lick my plate clean) -Kamo A L'Yuzu (8/10 - it was way too small to share so we all had a tiny bite, but a mighty flavorful tiny bite) -Lingo Beef Pie (8/10 - I think it needs more of the crispy flaky dough because it ate very soupy and hard to share) Meh: -One bathroom stall for the entire restaurant right in the middle of the kitchen, so waiting is kinda awk but not their fault it's just a point of notice -Would pass on the cabbage and get something else next time 10000% would be back!

Rice - nice crust, flavors ok

Do they allow dogs in the restaurant?

I'm pretty sure they don't, since normal NYC health regulations don't allow non-service animals into restaurants. Best to check directly with the restaurant.

Food and alcohol is fairly priced and food is flavorful/well seasoned which is hard to find in a Japanese restaurant. The service is quick and food didn't take a while to come out. It's a MUST TRY! The sauce it's in has yuzu so it's nice, savory, a lil sweet, a lil sour, and a little citrusy - it's perfect for my tastebuds. Literally could not get over how good the sauce was. It also tasted good to dip the corn ribs in that sauce!! * Corn ribs 5/5 Grilled corn ribs with seasoning and cheese, super simple but super tasty. Can never go wrong with corn ribs! * Beef Sukiyaki 5/5 Nice and flavorful broth, the meat is tender, there's also a knot of clear noodles at the bottom of the bowl. * Pork Belly Wrapped enoki 5/5 GOOD. Who doesn't love pork belly AND mushrooms (only crazy people) ?! Amazing flavor, nice and smokey, with crunchy enoki mushrooms * Miyazaki A5 Wagyu 5/5 Good, nice to order once just to try since it is a little on the pricier side bc it's A5 Wagyu, personally I'd rather go to an A5 Wagyu restaurant if I want A5 Wagyu. Nonetheless, it was nice to try! This was enough food to share between my sister and I, without feeling overly full and bloated. Definitely will be coming back regularly since it's so close to home.

Though I'll say I don't think Tora particularly excels in one thing it's not going to be the best ramen or sushi you've had in your life but, for something that's close? Affordable? Has no line? The spicy fish oil gives you a kick at the back of your throat, so not really a broth for sipping before mixing it. The pork belly is less fatty than what I prefer but the broth was plenty flavor. The chicken broth is excellent as well and worked since my friend has a dietary restriction. Sadly could not try the karaage since they sold out! Get it if you can. Food (5/5): probably some of the best ramen you can get in Brooklyn! You take a sip and it has so much rich flavor you can tell they took a long time to cook it. Just the right amount of salt that leads to explosive umami flavor with everything else included. Only downside is that the egg is an additional 2-3 dollars boosting the ramen price to 20 per bowl. Other than that, it's a great bowl of ramen I will be going again. I heard the steak was good from my friends but we got the okanomiyaki, it's pretty big, delicious, but only get it if you are a large fan of them. It's pretty pricey for what it is. Cucumber salad was delicious and fresh, nice hit of spiciness. Service (4.5/5): The person helping us is super nice, though there is a language barrier and that might cause some misunderstandings. I only brought it down half a point because you aren't going to get that understanding but they are very nice and try their best. Nothing wrong but it does get busy and you might have to call them for refills or other issues. The chefs are also very friendly. Cleanliness and interior (5/5): you can tell it's rather small, but modern and chic. Great for a night out to eat as they are open late. Great casual dinner spot and has a fantastic Lofi jazzy playlist that adds to it. Combined with the unforgettable beef broth, and you have a night to remember. J's Parking Advice- it's pretty packed at night because there is a lot to do around. Parking garages are a little far off too but everything is walkable once you find a spot. There is a street parking but it's hard to find, you might have to park far and walk there or public transport. We did take around 10-20 mins to find parking. So good luck! Overall: it's a spot I have to go back to especially since they sold out of the karaage! If that doesn't tell you how good it is not sure what else! Definitely a local favorite and a hidden gem
