A decent Chinese food spot in Almaden! It's family owned and has been around for a while in this shopping center. Sadly, not many businesses thrive in this shopping center, so props to them for staying alive! Parking will never be a problem here. Ordered Orange Chicken with fried rice and beef and broccoli! The restaurant's setup is more of a store front, so not many seating indoors. We usually get: - beef chow fun: 5/5 - ratio of beef and been sprouts to chow fun is perfect for my preference, chow fun noodles cooked well so it doesn't stick together - meat combo w/ tofu: 3/5 - nothing too special, a filler item to have variety - walnut shrimp: 4/5 - pretty consistent on the fried batter, plus it's nice that they pack the mayo on the side, however a couple times they forgot to throw in the walnuts - sweet & sour fried chicken: 4/5 - also another item that is good but not as consistent, sometimes the chicken can either be smaller pieces vs bigger pieces, I prefer the bigger pieces because meat is more tender/juicer Pretty safe choice for Chinese food in the Almaden area. I ordered moo shu chicken with pancakes because of my pregnancy craving and it didn't disappoint. I also got honey walnut prawns and loved that they put the mayonnaise sauce on the side as to not make the shrimp soggy in my food delivery. It was crispy and delicious. There were lots of menu options. The prices were fair. There were lots of vegetarian options. The bad: The mushu chicken was a wee bit too salty for me but I do tend to like food on the bland side. A neighborhood mom and pop restaurant owned by a local immigrant family (we were told the chef used to cook in a famous Cantonese restaurant in China) that serves delicious traditional Chinese food with very reasonable prices. The portions were large. Every dish we ordered was great. They reminded me of the comfort food you would find in south China, nothing too fancy but really good. I'm so conflicted about leaving this review because I've read the positive ones and I don't want to destroy anyone's livelihood. On the other hand, I own a restaurant and have taken many food safety classes and am certified so I can't just disregard this. I did consider sharing it with the woman at the front but she was quite snappy and rude to me so I hesitated from doing so. I walked in and ordered a plate, the woman snapped at me when I handed over my card that it was cash only. I told her I didn't have cash so she said Venmo? I didn't particularly want to go that route so I said no. She eventually charged my card but made sure to tell me she wouldn't do it again, even though there are signs saying they take card and Apple Pay. After paying I walk over to the cooler to grab my coke and see bowls of raw chicken just hanging out in the front cooler. There was also a bag of what looked like meatballs thawing too. This is highly dangerous and can get their restaurant shut down. Long story short, be super careful if you have a sensitive stomach or immunodeficiency, this place could land you in trouble. read more

Oh my god. Such good portions for the price. This was the only place open on Christmas with both good reviews and decent pricing so we decided to try it. We ordered about 8 dishes for a family of 7 and we had enough food for several days. Quantities are HUGE. Prices are so reasonable. Our total was under $100. Taste was delicious and the amount of meat in the fried rice and noodles were plenty. My only advice would be to skip the garlic chicken as it really wasn't good. The Mongolian beef was terrific and unlike any other Mongolian beef I've had before. Also, when you order to go they give you the sauces for all the fried dishes on the side. A decent Chinese take-out restaurant in the Almaden Valley area. We phoned in an order and it was ready when promised. The location is a bit hard to see, as it is in a corner next to CVS and there was a truck parked in front of an adjacent empty store that blocked the view of the restaurant from the parking lot. It is there, just look in the corner to the right of the CVS. The food tasted OK, and the portions were generous. I just felt that there was something lacking in the flavor. The combination fried rice needed something to perk it up. The Eggplant with garlic sauce was nice, but not superb. The Orange Chicken was good and the sauce very good. The Orange Chicken sauce was packaged separately (a good thing) so that you can sauce your portion to your individual needs. We also had a dish that had prawns, onions, and bell peppers that was enjoyed. The food was good, but we have had better elsewhere. Even though there is a large sign on the counter that says "Cash or Venmo only", I was able to pay with a credit card. Came here for the first time today for takeout. What a pleasant experience. The owners are very sweet and kind. I ordered the Kung pao chicken, sweet and sour shrimp, shrimp fried rice and shrimp chow mein. The food was prepared quickly and was ready in no time. They packed all the food with care, separating the sweet sour sauce in a separate container. I thought that was wise, because the sweet and sour shrimp stayed crispy by adding the sauce when we were ready to eat. The food was really good. The shrimp were cooked perfectly and the food was not overly greasy. Both my husband and I enjoyed everything and there are plenty of leftovers. The food was reasonably priced and the portions were large. I'm so happy to have found this restaurant that is close to our neighborhood. We will definitely be back for more. I don't understand how this place gets high reviews. Food is tasteless mostly and I've ordered multiple times to give it the benefof the doubt. This is probably the only Chinese restaurant that serves Kung Pao chicken with no peanuts. I know Kung Pao is not authentic chinese but its a convention. Curry chicken is also bad. Noodles are so-so. For the kids sake, we normally get fried rices - bbq pork fried rice, chicken fried rice or salty fish fried rice but they are all usually pretty bland and dry. Went to eat ate Lin Gardens today. Ignored by the same waitress. I had to take my dirty dishes off my table and interrupt her conversation with another customer to get a refill on water. She made sure I got my check while I was still eating. Won't be going back. I don't know what she has against me, but it is the same story the past few times I have been in the restaurant. We love Lin Garden! We order from them nearly every week for more than 2 years now. Service is consistently polite and fast. Typically, our takeout order is ready within 15-20 minutes. Portions are generous. Ingredients are fresh. And the taste? Satisfying. Their 175-item menu is huge for a takeout place. Browsing the 5 pages jammed full of selections alone is mouth-watering. I'm so glad that this location has continued to be a solid neighborhood Chinese restaurant. Though it's not like our own home-cooked Chinese food, it's definitely my go-to when I'm in the way home from work and just need to feed the fam or supplement with a couple dishes.
