Lilith, nestled in Shadyside, may seem unassuming from the outside, but its interior efficiency in space use is remarkable. Despite being a bit cramped, the ambiance is welcoming, and the culinary offerings more than compensate. The tuna tartare, our starter, was a highlight with its perfect texture and freshness, complemented by ideally balanced bread. The main course ravioli, oozing with cheese, was a decadent delight, though for some, it might border on too rich towards the end. The standout, however, was the beef dish, which was nothing short of spectacular. Its preparation was so masterful that each bite was a flavorful, tender experience that made the cozy squeeze of the restaurant's space entirely worth it. Saying I'm impressed is a massive understatement. Everything from the staff to the food to the vibe is phenomenal. Lilith has immediately gone to the top of my favorite restaurants in PGH. Started with the rosemary focaccia served with olive oil and whipped ricotta. Amazingggg! People don't talk enough about how good really, really good bread is. AH! We also had the beef and tagliatelle. Everything was perfectly cooked. Loved it! The dessert was the vegan carrot cake and it was so weirdly wonderful. All of the flavors you expect from carrot cake but the shaved Rita's ice on top doesn't make sense but yet you immediately wonder why you've never had it exactly like this before. Amazing restaurant! Very creative menu. Every dish was just fantastic. Highly recommend the sweet corn soup if it's on the menu. Also the filet with its sauce was just indescribable. INCREDIBLE brunch at Lilith this morning! The ambiance and decor are fun and playful! I was greeted within minutes by one of the owners and Executive Chefs (Jamilka Borges)! Every staff member there makes you feel welcome, and Lilith does a fantastic job accommodating any dietary needs! They were able to make my whole brunch Vegan (which I really appreciated)! Absolutely incredible. Colorful and chill ambiance. Started with the Envita 75, which was a nice refreshing twist on the French 75 with the perfect level of sweetness. They served complimentary homemade focaccia bread with whipped ricotta, soft and delicious. Then we ordered the lobster roll appetizer with the spaghetti and beef entrees. Lobster roll had nice large pieces of lobster and were the perfect bite size. We shared the two entrees. The pasta was a fresh and light take on pasta. The beef was perfection. Truly the best meal I have ever eaten, perfect tenderness that melted in your mouth with various sauces and purées that were all flavorful and different but went well together. We had a difficult time getting a reservation through the app but someone from the restaurant returned my call and we found a time that worked. We shared the lobster rolls and yuca pierogis and they were both unique and excellent. We both had the tagliatelle with seafood which was also very good. The menu is very small which is usually a good thing but I wish it had just a few more entrees to choose from. We were too full for dessert but we definitely look forward to going back. read more

Super cute cozy interior, friendly staff, and the food was delicious. Ceviche was smooth and not too sour, tuna tartare was excellent. Loved the pirogies and lobster rolls too. Cocktails are excellent. Would like to request more mocktails on the menu! There was only one and while it was good, I wished I had another option that was less sweet. Absolutely superb. Tiny space, great service, amazing food -- it reminds me so much of the old Legume when it was in Regent Square. I love the BYOB, the fresh pasta, the sparkling fresh seafood, and the unexpected flavor combinations. We had yuca pierogis and lobster rolls to start, along with fresh focaccia with whipped ricotta. All were wonderful. I had the pumpkin ravioli which was just very good, not great. My husband loved his pasta with scallops and shrimp. We were ok with the baked Alaska, but wished we had ordered the mango tart. BUT...all things considered, this is one of the very best meals we've had in Pittsburgh for ages. It's right up with Pusadee's in terms of great flavor combos and outstanding execution of the plates. We will be back, for sure. read more

My wife and I had dinner at Lilith with friends recently. We have had the pleasure of eating there before. I can sum up our experience each time in three words -- "Off The Charts!" Well worth the wait for a reservation (Lilith is a hot spot, in high demand). This is a warm and welcoming restaurant from the moment you arrive. In their cozy, inviting space, chef-owners Jamilka and Dianne have generated a charming tone and wonderful buzz. The attentive staff is very helpful but not at all intrusive. From kitchen to bar to table, they blend to make your visit memorable. Three of our party ordered the special cocktail of the night, a ramp-infused, dirty martini that was a first of its kind for us, and oh so tasty. Glasses of wine were very good. The food is exceptional, as the owner-chefs curate a well-conceived, fresh menu of wonderful starters, mains and desserts. The warm table bread is a great start. We then had the famous lobster rolls, tuna tartare, oysters and several other yummy appetizers, the delicious skate and tagliatelle entrees, and four or five of Dianne's incredible desserts including the awesome baked alaska and sticky toffee pudding. Easily one of the best dinners my wife and I had in a long time. The restaurant was small and very cozy. The snacks/small plates that we tried were the pierogis and lobster rolls. I was afraid it could be too heavy to have before main courses but they were light and delicious. The beef tenderloin was cooked perfectly and my wife's farotto which was just recently added was creamy and tasted like it was cooked with beef stock, but was completely vegan. The service was excellent, very attentive. This was one of my favorite new restaurants we went to in a long time. My best friend who rarely gets to go out with me because she is a hard working mother of 3, took me here for my birthday dinner. The place was packed, very noisy and overwhelming. It was hard to hear our waiter and he informed us that we had to order appetizers and meals at the same time which slowed down our process. We were very hungry and expected to be able to get an appetizer and have the ability to take our time and chat. The bread didn't come out until after we ordered appetizers and dinners. They were out of the $54 Malbec, so we ordered the $72 Malbec... We ordered expensive wine, 2 appetizers, 2 entrees and a desert - and at 9:07 (2 hrs and 7 minutes after we arrived) after we had just paid the check and were enjoying that last few sips of wine and were still eating our desert, we were asked to leave (at least they offered to box our desert for us!). The explanation was that there were people who had been waiting a while (as though it was our fault). Because of the noise level and the fact that this person approached me from behind, I could hardly understand what was going on. My best friend who had paid the enormous bill apologized and got up quickly, and in my confused state I followed suit. Had I realized what was going on I would have pushed back considering the slow service at the beginning and the fact that this was a rare special occasion. The food was good, but not worth the atmosphere and in my opinion rude and confusing service, especially not at this price. read more
