I've yet to have a bad meal or experience here, and I'm betting that I won't. Every time I've visited, either for dinner, a late in the day lunch, or even to sit at the bar for a snack and a martini, the service has been warm and the food, wine, and drinks didn't disappoint. Leo is the sister restaurant to Ops in Bushwick, but the vibes are very different: Leo feels older and more mature (even though it opened after Ops), and with it's open windows running along the space, the light pours in and the people watching is at its finest. I've come here for dates, with my mom, to grab lunch with a friend I hadn't seen in years, and for some solo time--all great reasons to dine at Leo. While the pizza is the main reason people have this place bookmarked--love the Clam Pie and the San Giuseppe--the pastas aren't to be missed, and neither is the Fritto Misto, which is light and not heavily fried. The wine list is super fun and the servers are quick to make suggestions and let you try something before committing. And don't skip dessert--they're also known for their rotating flavors that come in a twist, at times with a drizzle of olive oil and a sprinkle of sea salt. Leo in my mind is the perfect neighborhood restaurant, one I enjoy making the trip to visit or popping in when I'm in this part of Williamsburg. I've had no issue walking in later in the day on weekends, but suggest a reservation for primetime weeknights or if you're a larger group. Cheers! read more

But if you're looking for a cheaper eat, Leo also runs a sophisticated slice shop in the adjacent storefront, open during normal restaurant hours. With whitewashed wooden floors and exposed brick walls, 2-seater marble tables lining the perimeter, and slices served on posh porcelain dishware, Leo's bakery feels more luxe than peer pizza joints. Contemporary R&B mixes with friendly, yet pretentious staff members' humblebrag conversations. I swung by for an early weekday dinner, and I was able to order immediately. I opted for 2 slices: the Margherita and the Pepperoni. Immediately, I was struck by the excellent, naturally-leavened sourdough cust: thin in the middle and poofy at the edge, it was flavorful enough to enjoy even sans toppings. The margherita slice sported a slightly sweet red sauce and deliciously fresh mozzarella finished with a salty sprinkle of parm. While the flavors were a success, Leo was slightly skimpy on all its toppings, such that I found myself searching for a complete bite. Most notably I was bummed that only a single small leaf of fresh basil ended up on my slice. The margherita was therefore elevated by the addition of plentiful pepperoni rings. The crust slowly began to infuse with (nonetheless, held up well against) the pepperoni grease, ensuring richly spiced notes with each bite. The $10 I wagered on these slices felt like money well-spent. Each thin-crusted pizza was fairly large and came out fresh. The crust was noticeably more flavorful from the sourdough, as well as chewier than normal New York pizza. Of the three we tried, my favorite was the pepperoni. The pizza sauce and especially the pepperoni together provided the strongest flavors. The pomodorini was probably my least favorite, in part because the cherry tomato and banana pepper toppings were parsimonious. As a result, it was bland and unforgettable. We did have one minor odd interaction with someone who dropped off our appetizers. We ordered a salad and she dropped it off - I asked her for something to cut and serve the salad with (because covid and it was clearly a shareable). She just stared at me and brought back a spoon... for a salad. I asked if she had a fork and she literally rolled her eyes at me. Very odd. Aside from that, service was great. Food-wise, we shared everything which I recommend. It's not the best pizza I've had, but it's definitely tasty. I'm not normally someone who eats/ likes crust, but the crust is phenomenal. So doughy!!! I live in the neighborhood and will be back. We ordered: -Caesar Salad: I really liked this salad. It's a little hard to share because it's giant pieces of lettuce so we had to cut it, but I would definitely order again. -Meatballs: we almost didn't order because we thought we had too much food. But these were delicious! -Citrus Salad: I don't see it on the menu anymore, but it had olive oil, grapefruit, basil, and cheese. We wanted to get pizza in Williamsburg and were debating between Leo, L'industrie or Paulie Gee's. We decided to go to Leo since it was a place I hadn't been before! I was starving when we got there, so I ordered the meatballs, cacio pepe and the NY Slice Pie for the 3 of us. The meatballs came hot! The focaccia was made with sesame seeds and tasted very fresh! The marinara on the meatballs was divine. The cacio pepe was also very good, but a pretty small portion. The pizza was pretty big! I think the NY Slice pie is bigger than their other pies. I think they drizzle over the chili oil for flavor so luckily, I didn't add additional hot chili oil before my first bite. Probably because they have an excellent wine list and the servers are super welcoming and professional. We love coming here and getting a Cesar salad to share. My friend and I walked into this restaurant on a slow Sunday evening and asked for a table for two. The hostess quickly sat us down and provided us with water. Patrons were there dining but it wasn't crowded nor did it seem busy. My friend and I reviewed the menu and waited close to 30 mins without a server or any staff for that manner checking on us to see if we were ready to place our order even though our body language clearly displayed that we were ready. Instead the staff congregated at the front where the hostess was chit chatting about God knows what. It seemed evident that either they were not attentive to their guests or they were not in the mood to provide service to the only two black people in their establishment. Either way after 30 minutes of no service on a slow night my friend and I left. Went to Leo a couple of weeks ago for a date night with my partner and had a so-so experience. To start off on a positive note the soft serve was the highlight of the night and if I could go back and only order that I would! The rest of the food we ordered (focaccia & barata, charcuterie, pizza) was decent - not bad, but not really anything to write home about. We made a reservation ahead of time and didn't end up waiting to be sat which was nice, but we were put at a small table in the middle of the room where I was bumped into by staff running food and drinks more than a couple of times which was a little annoying. The service itself was pretty slow but generally fine - it was busy so to me that's to be expected. The server we had was friendly and professional though! I also found the restaurant to be louder than I like a casual dinner to be, but such is life. Cute spot in Brooklyn perfect for group of anyone wanting to enjoy some pizza! The menu is limited to pizza but it's ok because it's what they do well! Even for brunch it's the same menu - there is a little cafe part next door that has coffee and bagels and baked goods but you can't order anything besides the coffee drinks when you sit at the restaurant. This place is perfect for sharing! We started with the ricotta and focaccia which had a nice balsamic glaze on top that added a hint of sweetness to the ricotta. They will make the Cesar salad without anchovies for those who want! The breadcrumbs on top were a perfect crunch without being a heavy and big crouton! I liked the mix of lettuce as well! For the pizza we split the special which was a white pizza with spicy sausage! I think this is the special a lot and I can see why! It's a nice corner location with lots of windows and a pretty simple interior. We were going to a play so we didn't want a huge dinner. The three of us shared a half liter of red wine (nice basic red on the dry side), olives (nice assortment), Caesar salad (excellent salad with a nice layer of sardines on top, it was on the small side and we could've eaten more!), and a San Giuseppe pizza (nice crust, very good sausage, very tasty). Overall the food was fine, service had a lot of bumps. Ops impressed me more in the pizza realm. Restaurant was comfortably full (not packed by any means, but not empty). Decor is nice and the space feels spacious enough with natural light throughout. Service just seemed off for whatever reason. Firstly, never received our starter for the table (was removed from the bill without issue). Skip the espresso martini, it was not good sadly. Main dishes came out so sporadically, everyone at our table was eating at completely different paces so their food wouldnt get cold. First came the 2 burgers, then somewhere between 5-10 minutes later the next dish came out: 1 pancake. Another 10 mins passed until the final 3 pies arrived. No idea what happened there, but our server was apologetic and offered us free dessert. Pizza was generally good, nothing mind-blowing - we ordered the Margherita, Clam pie, and The Hill. The more topping-heavy pizza (The Hill) was a bit floppy/soggy at the center, and IMO went a bit overboard with the arugula. Pancake was perfect. Both of the desserts we tried were amazing: the tiramisu and the coconut/caramel soft serve (this was so unique and refreshing). The chilli oil really elevated the pizza. Cons: the food took foreverrr to come out. They brought out each dish one by one as we finished. Maybe it's their style to have us eat one by one rather than all at once and risk getting the pizza cold? I was fine with that but the first dish (Cacio e Pepe) took about 25-30 minutes to come and the restaurant was basically empty at this point so idk why it took so long. Portions are TINY. Amongst 4 people, we ordered the margherita, the hill, cacio e Pepe, and 2 desserts and still left feeling peckish. I would recommend ordering at least 1 dish per person. I've been to Leo several times now and each time I've had an unsettling experience. The first time my friends and I waited about 45 minutes for a server to come out and take our order, and the order we waited about 30 more minutes for one portion of our food. The second time they told me and my friends that we couldn't take a seat because they had a reservation in an HOUR from the time we wanted to sit down. We were just getting after work drinks. Third times the charm. We were sat over a metal grate, the ones you often see around NYC that let out hot air, big enough for our phones to fall through if we were to drop them. We asked for a separate table and they said that table had a reservation, but so did we. When we looked over at the people who finally showed up to their reservation, there were three people, we had a party of five. When we left we saw that they ended up moving the reservation over to the seat we had, so we don't quite understand that. During our time eating, the waiters continued to loom over our table and remove dishes and drinks. We were buying quite a bit, so I couldn't understand why they wouldn't ask us if we would like to spend more money. The waiters also smell really bad, so I don't really want them near my delayed food while I'm eating. My group was a mix of different people, and to be honest, I've noticed a few comments from POCs talking about Leo's service. There tends to be different treatment depending on the crowd their serving. If you're interested in a pizza place with actual GOOD food and really kind servers, L'Industrie is two blocks away, not as fine dining as Leo but worth every penny. That will be the last time I attend Leo, and the owners really need to look into the fleeting service that is hanging on by a string. read more

So far I had a cold brew and the Spigarello & Fennel Frittata ($6), which was really excellent. They have a few other sandwiches available on the same bread, as well as a Quince Tart, and that's about it for now. I am patiently waiting now for the pizza to be ready for lunch time. read more

The tiramisu was outstanding - def one of the best ones I've had. If you are a fan of the mascarpone like me, you would devour it. If you aren't a fan of the mascarpone cheese and prefer the strong coffee taste, this could be something you can skip. The tiramisu was also so fresh it just made the overall experience even better. We also ordered a Margarita Pizza that was good. We had two pastas, once with bolognese and the other one with Casio e Pepe. They were good, but very very salty.
