Burrito
Taylor K.

This is a place I can't WAIT to go back to!! I really enjoyed every dish that I tried, especially the tostada special. It felt like something was missing from the breakfast burrito, but nonetheless it was delicious. The salsa was good as well! It can get packed here since it's small but the wait wasn't long at all.

Cute place ! Servers were so sweet and took care of me even when busy. Ambiance is so relaxed. Cappuccino was great and the food was amazing. Highly recommend.

Chilaquiles with Chicharron

If I could give this place 10 stars I would. Man the flavor of the dishes we ordered were outstanding (the flavor profile was so robust) We got the chilaquiles (add chicharron) and the chorizo burrito. The Chilaquiles we're the star of our meal. You get great acidity and sourness from the house made tomatillo sauce, balanced by the earthiness of the black beans, herbaciousness from the cilantro and pungent flavors from the pickled onions. Don't forget the cheesyness from the cotija cheese. Highly recommend this dish. Beautiful outdoor patio seating in the back and great service from Miguel himself. Highly recommend this spot if you're out for brunch and looking for some tasty Mexican food. Don't forget to try the Cardamom Rose Latte

Quesadilla (Hongos Y Nopales) but they ran out of nopales

A beautifully decored spot serving Mexican breakfast and brunch. Located in Williamsburg. I had a pleasant breakfast in this restaurant after a 10mi morning run nearby, during my visit to NYC this spring. The restaurant was couter-service. I ordered two dishes. The first one was Hongos Y Nopales quesadilla. The freshly baked tortilla was stuffed with plenty of Oaxaca cheese and juicy mushrooms. Unfortunately, they were out of cactus at the time. Other than that the quesadilla tasted heavenly. The tomatillo salsa that came with this dish was also very good -- sour and spicy and quite refreshing. The second one was their special gordita. It was filled with queso fresco and lettuce, topped with a sunny-side up egg, and surprisingly, there was a mole-like sauce under the tortilla! It was served with the amazing tomatillo salsa as well. I also liked the decor of this restaurant. Simple, nature-oriented design, had lots of wooden furniture and combined with Mexican elements (e.g., Masks and pictures). The background music was also enlightening and not disturbing.

This place is very reminiscent of the cafe scene in CDMX (in the best way possible). On the weekends it is packed so be prepared to wait for a table! They have indoor and outdoor seating. The menu has classic, authentic Mexican food and reasonable prices. I got a latte that was amazing and one of the best I've had in the area. My friend and I split a quesadilla which was heavenly. The owner took our order and he was so kind. You can tell he really cares about the quality of the food they are putting out. Would 10/10 recommend this as a brunch spot with friends if you are craving authentic Mexican.

Chilaquiles
Mari T.

Came here at 11:45AM to meet up a friend for brunch. It was pretty busy. I ordered a chai latte and chilaquiles, both were delicious and very filling. It's a bit of a loud so if you're a low talker it's a little hard to have a convo. When i left at 1:15pm there was a wait for a table. I would say there needs to be a more frequent water refill. Otherwise i didn't feel rushed. The person i was with had a tortilla soup and steak/egg burrito and really liked both.

No idea what this was but it was delicious

No idea what food I got but it was delicious. Food was good, service was good, overall ambiance was chill.

Breakfast tetela and cafe de olla
Alan S.

Maybe it was because my favorite Mon Laferte song came on right as my breakfast tetela was delivered to the table, but there's nothing I would change about the stellar brunch experience at Cafe Miguel. From the well-spiced cafe de olla to the decadence of pairing a runny egg with mole negro, this will be one of my top new spots to return to in East Williamsburg. We're really spoiled for choice in the neighborhood these days, with not one but two cafes on Grand Street serving up a proper Oaxacan breakfast.

Chilaquiles and cardamom rose latte

I had the Chilaquiles and Cardamom Rose latte and both were excellent! The chilaquiles has a green salsa with it that has the perfect kick to it. The latte was delish and the service was great, very nice people! This would also be a great place to work remotely or read a book, decent amount of seating and nice and quiet.

Tinga quesadilla

Such a cozy mexican cafe, with wifi for those looking to get some work done! I've passed by this spot several times and thought I'd give it a try. The Californian in me was missing Mexican food and it really hit the spot. I got a chicken quesadilla and a hot almond chai, and I have to say - this is one of the best chai lattes I've ever had. I usually take issue with chais being too watery, but this is packed with milk and spices. Just the right amount of sweetness with a nice frothy top. I'd come back for the chai alone. Prices are extremely affordable and staff is friendly. I'll definitely be coming back regularly. Many tables were filled but there seemed to be enough flow of customers where it should be manageable to snag a table.

Breakfast Tetela

This was really tasty food at a reasonable price. The tetela came with a nice filling of beans and salsa, plus a fried egg, avocado, cheese, and cilantro. The two salsas were very flavorful. It was a nice, light meal for $15 after tax and tip. It definitely gets busy on the weekend.

Black Sesame Concha (8/10) & Turmeric Latte (10/10); both were absolutely delicious and they offer non-dairy alternatives for lattes
Cassie C.

Being a Mexican from LA, my standards for Mexican food are high and Cafe Miguel blew it out of the water! I started my meal with a latte and concha thinking, "black sesame concha?" and I'm so happy I ordered it. Although the sesame taste was mild, it paired perfectly with my turmeric latte which was well spiced. I don't see chilaquiles often on a menu here on the east coast so I jumped at the opportunity to order some. The salsa was flavorful, the chicharon had a hint of spice, and the beans were nicely done. I had just enough room to split a quesadilla with a friend and that was a great item to share. He had nothing but good things to say about his steak & eggs burrito which was a special when we went. I'd be remiss not to mention the staff who were incredibly friendly and efficient despite it being a busy Saturday morning full of brunch goers. I'm always looking for go-to spots to visit when in the city and this place has easily made it to that list for me!

Strawberry Matcha Latte

This was my first time at Cafe Miguel and I was worried there would be a line on Saturday for breakfast. To my surprise, there were plenty of seats available. The servers are friendly, and the food tasted like it was made with love from a grandma in the kitchen. I ordered 3 dishes: * Chorizo Breakfast Burrito - 10/10 - this was one of the best breakfast burritos I've ever had! The flavor of the chorizo was so good. The fluffy eggs with the hefty serving of guacamole, and small potato chunks were chef's kiss. * Chilaquiles - 8.5/10 - Even though there was no meat in this dish, I didn't feel like I was missing out. The flavor of the beans was enough to make you feel satisfied. The refreshing salsa verde helped balanced out the dish. * Chicken Tinga Sope - 7.5/10 - The tinga was lacking in a bit of salt for me. I also completely falls apart after taking one bite so it's a bit messy. * Strawberry Matcha Latte - 6.5/10 - not my favorite strawberry matcha since it just tasted like milk and you could hardly taste the strawberry or the matcha. I would skip on this drink. Overall, I definitely think this place is worth checking out and is a local gem. As much as I don't want to see it get too crowded, I hope they get plenty more customers in the future.

There's the main seating area and then two offshoot lounges, which aren't quite as cozy but offer different levels of quiet and ambience. I love all the random décor, antique signs, old arcade games as tables, a million lamps. It's like what nook is going for but you can actually sit down on a comfy couch most of the time. The guy working the counter has a lot of energy and clearly loves being there. The PB banana smoothie was yummy, very thick so could use a spoon. Mushroom toast was a bit pricey but you did get a lot of food for your money, the focaccia was crunchier than expected but all around a nice cafe bite. I just appreciate how this is such a gathering spot where you can watch bk life play out while working, it had a different energy from a lot of places in the area.

Shucks I wanted to give this place five stars but it didn't start so well. The first barista who…read moretook my order was really great. I first ordered a chai latte and he said I could do two different syrups so I got the pumpkin and salted maple, though I was worried about it being too sugary so he suggested I could just do half a pump of each. He asked me what the name of the order would be and I said "Aida" (the phonetic spelling is ah-EE-dah). And then I heard the other barista say something along the lines of, "oh Aida, how about 'Aida' rather not be here", pretty rude if you ask me. And then I ordered the spicy nook sandwich. And when another server called my named to grab it she didn't even knowledge me when I tried to thank her and instead she talked to her coworker while I was right in front of her. The sandwich was really good, so was my chai tea. I really like the pumpkin and salt and maple syrups too. I did like all the options for seating although it was pretty packed. I'd say if you have a big party get there early. By 7pm the whole place was filled. There was a huge majong club that came in and took the whole back area, it was so crammed there were lines for the bathroom. Over all I had a good time. I really like the music too just know it gets very busy in there. The employees I would say were hit or miss. The ones that were great though I really liked. Just seem like the ones who didn't really give attention to customers or were kind of rude seemed like they didn't wanna be there.
