They take walk-ins, which is great for the locals in the Flushing community. The pricing on the eye exam and contact lens exam is very competitive. I chose to come to him because the optometrists in midtown near me are all 2x 3x the price, and Dr. Xia is around the same price as my hometown in PA. (I have VSP eye insurance, but I still think the price for out of pocket is similar if not the same.) If you call, the folks on the phone are quite helpful. And I had a question (on New Years Eve!) about the way my exam was run through my insurance, and Dr. Xia himself called me the next day to answer my question. Very top service. I can't speak to the service and product around getting contacts or glasses in this shop, but the exam and physician service is very good value for money. I've already recommended him to a friend who is going there.

About a year ago, I went to Sam Prior's former location, Park Optics, where I'd been a patient for…read more10 years. I was distressed when I returned to the Park Slope store in January 2023 only to find it had closed. I tried to locate someone from the store but failed to locate anyone. My eyeglasses had shattered internally, and the visible cracks on both lenses were long and distracting. I'd never had a pair do this. I had always been treated with great customer care, and I now felt abandoned! I almost called the Better Business Bureau, but held off as I like to give the benefit of the doubt. Another local optometrist thought the lenses were plastic and not polycarbonate. That was impossible I thought! Needless to say, as I was about to spend another several hundred dollars at a new store, a new associate recognized me and told me Sam had to close due to higher rents! I never found their goodbye email! Well, Sam and I reconnected! He drove from Queens to my home in the Slope. He took my glasses personally to the Lab, replaced the lenses for free--I was just shy of the warranty--and hand-delivered them before he left on a month-long vacation with his family in Asia!!! My eyeglasses are like new! I am thrilled and a very happy customer! Anyone doing business with Sam wherever he is will be in the best care, the best hands. He is a business man of integrity and respects his customers! I respect and adore his compassion! Thank you Sam and NU eyes! Dr. Rorie B
