4.5 stars for Pearl Vision and 5 stars for the Optometrist, Dr. Jonathan Cho. The retail store is very spacious and well laid out. There are frames on display, easily reachable and mirrors everywhere to see how they fit. The staff has separate work stations, it allows for privacy and a chance to go over your insurance coverage and plan options if selecting eyewear. My daughter's appointment was handled by an assigned staffer and she was very helpful in showing us new frames. She immediately grabbed a handful of frames that fit her face and was extra selective on color choices after hearing my daughter's preferences. We tried plenty and took our time. She never rushed us to make a decision and we were never pressured to buy anything. When it came down to two frames, one didn't sit right on her ears, the staffer requested the frame technician to adjust them for us. This way we could make a real decision based on comfort and fit. All in all a pleasant experience. As usual! (This is our fourth year coming to this location). A quick review of the Optometrist on site: Dr. Cho is very patient and speaks to my child at a level she understands. He is very thorough and never rushes through the charts and overall exam process. He is personable and talks through each step so the child is comfortable with each apparatus. He asks questions related to the wearer and always checks if the eye wear is worn properly. I highly recommend Dr. Cho for the entire family. We've been going to him for the last four years for each of our care. read more

This review is for Dr. Jonathan Cho. I wear both contacts and glasses. I've been seeing Dr. Cho for many years and this Dr is simply wonderful. Courteous, detailed and always takes his time to make sure the prescription written is the very best. I am reminded to write a review toda because i just got fitted with multi-focal contact lens! Yes, that is right. Dr. Cho fitted me with bifocal contact lens and they feel fantastic! no more reading glasses for me woohoo! Sad to say the doctor here is great but the male worker worst attitude and customer service ... if you ask twice he starts raising his voice at you saying you are hard of understanding... if there are no customers there you wouldn't have a job sir I think people forget the fact that they are not the only vision center around and there are plenty of other places that I can take my business where they are more clam professional and understanding especially that Customers DONT WORK THERE so maybe they know more than the customer and when a customer asks for a breakdown or explanation he shouldn't have an attitude like he does not want to be there because I think that is part of his job title to assist and direct customers with thorough explanations instead of yelling at a customer very poor customer service been going there for 12 years sadly have to go elsewhere next year. read more

5 stars for Dr. Jonathan Cho!!!! He is kind, friendly and thorough. He takes time to explain in the language that I can understand, and he creates an environment where I feel comfortable making decisions for myself (i.e. continuing with the current contact lens brand v. trying out a new brand - some doctors I had in the past were very pushy in their efforts). As for the store staff, I have mixed feelings and experiences. For the most part, the experience has been more or less pleasant. But during my last visit, I found a staff member to be unprofessional in his language with me and I felt extremely uncomfortable by his comments. (He called a mannerism of mine "cute." I am in my early 30s.) I would return for Dr. Cho, but most likely not return for the store. read more

Back to Pearle for my check up which has been awhile with all the changes in the world. As always, I was greeted with a smile from Drew which was evident even from behind the mask. Dr. Cho quickly diagnosed an issue I was having with my vision which required further care. He told me to delay getting new glasses until after I took care of the issue and maybe new glasses were not even needed. Wow! Talk about honesty! Anyone who is looking for honesty, integrity, knowledge and professionalism when it comes to eye care, search no further than this Pearle Vision location. I highly recommend getting eyes checked here. No doubt eye exams are great. I came here once with my boyfriend who was having complex issues and was unable to get new prescription that worked for him. Dr Jonathan Cho examined his eyes and answered all kinds of questions and explained patiently and clearly. So I went back for my eye exam and walked out of the eye exam a happy camper, seeing better near and far! However, getting glasses made here is another matter. Staff members are hit or miss on their customer service skills. You would think that some of them were in a bad mood by the way they respond to customers. The customer service here doesn't even deserve a rating of 1/5. When I first arrived I was faced with condescending remarks and degrading comments that made me felt very uncomfortable. They may have thought what they were saying was to my own benefit but HOW they said it was totally unprofessional and disgusting. It felt like they were taking their anger off on me. There was no excuse for the front staff to treat me this way. I don't understand how they train the staff but customer service was definitely a 0/5. This is also the first optometry store I've been to that didn't even try to provide assistance or guidance in helping you choose the proper pair of glasses. I'll start saying that my experience with Dr Cho was wonderful and pleasant. He is really professional and took his time getting sure I had the right contact and glass prescription. The reason for the two stars and why i probably won't be back is the staff. Extremely rude, both in person and on the phone, horrible service. Made online appointments for me and my wife, when we went there for some reason wife's appointment didn't make it into the system. The office was empty and the staff member was making it really hard to let her get an appointment, so with the attitude he had we didn't even bothered insisting and only I got the check. Then I wanted to get both contacts and new frames, but with all the screaming at my face was impossible to communicate and ended up only ordering the contacts (just because they are in-network with my eye insurance and they would handle the claim), and decided to buy the frames somewhere else. They don't understand that contacts, frames, and lenses are almost commodities, there are dozen of stores that have then around this location, and several options more online. People go back for the service, which this place lacks. read more

Walked in the other day to inquire about contacts. I walked in to find 2 employees on their phones with headphones in. No one greeted me so I had to get their attention and when I did, the lady was extremely rude when answering my question. I also looked at glasses for about 20 min and neither one of them helped me. "As good as it gets" is a good description of this place. On the optometrist side, Dr. Cho is an A+ doctor. He's warm, very knowledgeable, and thorough. He gave me the most thorough eye exam I've ever had, and he was very patient throughout the process, and I'm sure that can't be easy. Simply put, best optometrist I've ever been to. On the retail side, the entire staff is warm and accommodating. I didn't feel pressured to make a purchase, they let my daughter crawl around the store, and they made sure I understood each step of the process. Dr. Jonathan Cho is great, BUT the lady at the desk ripped me off. She did the promotion, but in the way that I would be spending 30 dollars more. Then, usually my lens are covered with the frames, and I asked her why is she charging me extra for the lens and she said the lens are never included with the frames which is a COMPLETE LIE. Dr. Cho is very warm and thorough. It's really nice to meet a doctor with good bedside manner! The staff is also welcoming and helped me verify my insurance. Dr. Cho has always been very kind, helpful, and professional during my years of having eye exams here. However, the woman who works at this branch was rude on a number of occasions I have interacted with her. When we spoke on the phone, I didn't even know if the location was open for eye exams because of Covid-19 restrictions. She informed me very coldly that the location was definitely open and made it seem like it was my fault for not knowing so. When I went in for my exam, she asked me if I wanted a contact lens prescription renewal in addition to my eyeglass prescription and when I said I just needed the eyeglasses, she stared at me in disbelief, laughed, gestured emphatically with her hands, and told me loudly that surely it would be best to renew both prescriptions today (to avoid paying for contact lens prescriptions outside of my insurance coverage) -- all of this in a very patronizing and condescending manner. There were a few other customers around who could hear what she was saying to me and I was just left standing there feeling embarrassed. You work to serve your customers. If a customer does not have all the information necessary to make the best decision, your job should be to explain to him/her POLITELY, instead of giving off the impression that it is his/her fault for not having that information. It is in your interest as a business to make your customers feel that you respect them and want to take care of their needs to the best of your ability, including providing information in a kind manner. Dr. Cho is very friendly and Professional doctor. He clearly explained all the parts of the comprehensive eye test as we went along. He is the first eye doctor to make me feel like he really cared about the patient and made sure all the tests were done with care and accuracy. Thank you Dr. Cho. Price of their Ray Ban frames are more expensive than the retail price on Ray Ban's website. Same exact model. They overcharge a lot on the lenses and couldn't provide me with a detailed receipt. Even with insurance, be prepared to pay more than $400. read more

Dr. Cho has changed my daughter's life and this is not an understatement. Ever since my daughter was in kindergarten, she started wearing glasses and was already at -1 diopter. Each year, her prescription went up a whole diopter and I was so worried and scared that her glasses were getting so thick. We even tried bifocals - yes the type of glasses you get when you're a senior, but that didn't help. After we paid for the over $400 pair of bifocals, I took my daughter in for a 6-month exam and sure enough, her prescription had gone up a half diopter and she was on track to go up another half diopter in another six months. Those expensive bifocals did nothing. My mother had told me about these new contacts that reshape your eye and after Googling, I learned it was Ortho-K. I soon found Dr. Cho and after he evaluated my daughter, he determined that was at the max limit at only 11 years old for these special contacts. Dr. Cho was so careful, patient, and thorough that he was able to fit my daughter's eyes so precisely, so much so that these contacts gave her more than perfect vision during the day. This solution feels like a true miracle. It is expensive but I couldn't put a price tag on my daughter's eyesight. I am still in awe of how she went from wearing a super-thick pair of bifocal eyeglasses to wearing nothing at all during the day. My daughter feels so free and she loves wearing sunglasses. I love that she gets to experience this as a teenager now. If my daughter didn't get these contacts when she did, she could have missed the window for being eligible to wear them and she would have probably had a prescription as high as -12 diopter by the time she goes to college. Dr. Cho is a man sent from God because he cared so much about my daughter and her vision that any time I had a concern, he was available whenever we needed him. I am now paying out of pocket so that my youngest daughter gets her annual eye exam from Dr. Cho as well. I can't say enough about how Dr. Cho and Ortho-K contacts have changed my daughter's life, vision, and given her newfound freedom. read more

Love the whole staff in this place. Everyone is friendly and helpful. The spend time with you and help you pick out your eye wear and what I LOVED is they do not push any product or any special lens on you. And they also work with you to see how much money you would save with or without insurance. I went to this Pearle Vision store with a pair of rimless glasses to have a broken leg fixed. The receptionist was a young lady, who was warm and polite. I explained that I had been not a customer but would like to have the broken leg fixed. She asked the technician who was quite busy at that time. She told me that I needed to wait for a couple of days but they would fix it. The technician was a gentleman and gave an affirmative smile as I left with a receipt. A couple of days later, I got a call informing me the glasses were fixed. It turned out both legs of the glasses were fixed. They did a wonderful job. I was very happy with my new glasses. I asked to pay for the fix. The answer was even nicer: No charge. Both the receptionist and optometrist were pleasant and very thoughtful. I was treated so nicely. Pearle Vision on Northern is the best optical place I have been to in years. Highly recommend this place. I can't comment on the doctor since we didn't get our eyes examined here, but best believe in 12 months we will be back for eye exams. I have a vision plan so I always went to a place that took the plan, namely that hellhole in Little Neck called Visionworks. Omg Pearle is like walking into a calm soothing dream for your eyeballs. The staff is top notch and they have a good selection of eyeglasses, some high end pairs if you are looking to upgrade. I agree with most of the review that the staff and Dr. Cho are the best. They are very efficient, friendly and knowledgeable. Specially, Neela who helped us a great deal on finding the right glasses for my husband and she was very patient on processing our somewhat complicated transaction. The facility was immensely clean and organized. I didn't find it difficult to find the place and there was a convenient small parking lot right in front. An AMAZING place with the greatest service and environment. I've gone for contacts, and I don't regret going here at all. Shipment of contacts took only a day! The optometrist Dr. Cho is so respectful, patient, and all-ears for any questions and concerns. He's also very sociable and has engaged in casual conversations unrelated to optometry with me. The staff is just as courteous if not even more so! There is hardly any wait time for appointments. The place is also located conspicuously on a corner with its own mini parking lot.
