From the moment that I walked in, everyone was so helpful and pleasant. When I was told I needed glasses by the doctor, I was a little sad, but Paul made me feel comfortable and I was OK with the fact I needed glasses. When I went to go pick up my glasses, I was still a little bit upset that I had to wear glasses the frames that I have, I have to get used to of me wearing glasses. Paul's a very nice fellow. I had been using his optical services for years when I wore glasses regularly. I recently went back to get glasses just for distance, it's been many years. SO Far SO good! I have had soooo many negative experiences with "Vision Centers" in and near my home neighborhood of Bayside, Queens, NY. That includes major negative issues and shady business practices of . . . 1. Cohen's Optical, Bay Terrace Shopping Center, 2. American Vision on Bell Blvd & 3. the last (and worst that I have ever bought from) "Bayside Family Eyecare". .AKA THE "Elmer Fudd" of the eyewear profession! So, when I needed to replace a missing nose pad, I came to this (Vincent's Opticians) shop, after having read all of his glowing reviews. I found that all of those (super-positive) reviews were/are in fact . . ."100% justified!" Paul spent about ten + minutes trying to find a nose pad that would be a good fit. He installed a new nose pad that works well and fits "just right". When he brought them back to me, he then fitted them to my face and adjusted them for the best possible fit. He did all this while maintaining a {sincerely} friendly attitude. When I asked him . . . "Pail, how much do I owe you", he said "NO CHARGE" !!! And then, when I attempted to place a $10.00 bill in the palm of his hand . . . he refused to take it, handed it back to me, and said . . . "I'm glad I was able to help you out". In my opinion - Paul represents the kind of retailer that we ALL WISH FOR - every time we enter a retail store. But . . . we rarely, (if ever) get one! He, Paul, actually did "make my day", (as Clint Eastwood - might say), lol , and in the process of doing so, he also renewed my faith in the "potential" for some (though not many) retail store owners/operators and their young and mostly (clueless * * * especially at Bayside Family Eyecare) employees to service the local community in an honest and straightforward way. I called Vincent's Opticians last minute to see if I could bring my mom in to have her eyeglasses adjusted. I was visiting from Central NJ for the weekend and my mom had been through such an ordeal since breaking her hip the previous September. Her glasses were very loose, and she was VERY nervous about breaking them. I had taken her to Vincent's 7 years before to get new eyeglasses and remembered how nice Paul and Lorraine were. To my surprise, Paul answered the phone and said that my sister and I could bring my mom right in. It was nice to see that he and Lorraine were still there together. Paul could not have been any more helpful, adjusting my mom's main pair of glasses, checking the prescriptions on that pair and the other 3 we brought in to see if any could be considered a "spare pair." He replaced the nose pads on all 4 pairs, adjusted them, checked the prescriptions and he was wonderful with my mom. We knew we were in excellent hands and I can't tell you how much my mom, sister and I appreciated his time and kindness. I took my elderly mother here. She has hearing loss and a the beginnings of dementia, so she isn't the easiest patient. The staff (the receptionist, optometrist, and optician) was just outstanding. They managed to be kind and kept the highest levels of professionalism without being patronizing. You can go online, Costco, Pearl, Cohen, etc. However, you will not get the quality service and honesty. Paul, the owner selected the right glasses for my face and coloring. He knows his inventory inside and out. I receive so many compliments about how good I look in my glasses. I was very happy with my new eyeglasses which I purchased at Vincent's. I found the customer service to be excellent.

These guys are crooks. They charged me over $400.00 for ultra thin lenses and guess what? The lenses are twice as thick as they should be. The father & son have a cute racket - the son quotes a price and when you go back to purchase, the price is higher and the father says "My son, he made a mistake". And of course, he does not honor the lower price. This has happened to me, as well as 2 of my neighbors. We want to give the local guy the business, but unfortunately he is giving it to everyone else! Stay away - go to Pearl on Northern. read more

Alright, sorry some folks had bad experiences here, but I'm getting a feel of the type of people who write reviews of opticians on Yelp. In my experience, these guys have been nothing short of awesome. Had a little wait the first time, but that's because they don't rush people through. They have been nothing but courteous, friendly and extremely helpful. They went out of their way to call my insurance provider themselves to make sure I didn't have to pay any more than I should. The staff and in-house eye doctor are all great. These guys are old school in a good way: the legendary days when businesses actually cared about taking care of their customers, not milking them. Just picked up our new glasses today. We have been going to Vincent's for years. The fit is perfect. This is especially important with progressive lenses. Great selection of frames in all styles and price points. They also carry Designer and European frames you won't find in most stores. We love the personal touch. Not sure about the other reviews, I have always found Nino and his son pleasant and accommodating; not to mention reasonable on price (my family has been going to them for years). If I had to guess, the previous reviewers failed to understand that if you have bad eyesight, even "ultra-thin" lenses will be thick. Regardless of price, Nino earns my loyalty because he is a perfectionist: if you have a problem with the grind or fit of your glasses, he will spend as much time as necessary to correct the problem. read more
