I have been coming to this vision center for several years now and honestly don't have any complaints. The doctor is very thorough with the exam and makes sure you are comfortable through the whole appointment. She explains everything very well and is very nice. The girls behind the counter that assist with the glasses selection are very nice and are very patient. They were also very helpful in filling out all paperwork for insurance reimbursement. They do have a large selection of glasses that are included with your insurance which is great. Will be coming here for all my future appointments. read more

I was looking for a place to get some prescription sunglasses. I came in at the time of my appointment and was seen right away. Everyone that works there is super nice and friendly. They made me feel very welcomed. The girl that helped me with my selection was super helpful without being pushy. Extremely Unsatisfied with this place. My husband went there for his glasses ( 2 pair) and had to go back 3 times only to constantly be put off being told " Give it time" Well, we wound up paying $600 cash to make the glasses PLUS our Insurance also paid them and my husbands old glasses are so much better. Just went back asking to kindly put his old lenses back in to his frame and asked What happens now that we're giving you back the lenses that obviously weren't cut properly and was told " There's nothing we can do to help you. So were out $600 right ? I guess so !! Bad customer service, Couldn't even get a credit for at least half of the $600, not that I asked, but you would think the owner would offer that just to keep us ( the customer) happy. Bought my glasses a little over a year ago. No problem until now. The frame just popped apart on one side. These were the most expensive glasses I have ever bought. $800 to be precise. Everyone in the office is incredibly patient, knowledgable, person-oriented, and kind. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted warmly and the staff was supportive and understanding. The optometrist is very thorough and took plenty of time to explain the process for my grandmother, which is very rare. My grandmother needed a new prescription and he patiently adjusted her prescription until she felt happy with whatever improvement we could get in her vision correction. He is very thoughtful and considerate of my grandmother's needs and wellbeing in regard to her vision. She found a pair that she was happy with and she can't wait to get her new glasses. I LOVE THESE GUYS!!!!! I was using this place years, then had a change of insurance and they didn't take my new coverage. Unfortunately I had to go somewhere else, about 2 years later I had a horrendous experience with the eye care provider I went to, my insurance company approved that I could change my provider and found out that WVC now accepted my coverage!!! They accepted my replacement from my insurance company even though I wasn't currently their patient!!!!! Now if that's not customer service.....I don't know what is!!!!! read more

I absolutely love it here! They have been taking care of me since I was a child. Everyone is ALWAYS so nice and friendly. Ed, Dr. Battino and Sabrina are the best! They tolerate me trying on nearly every frame nearly every time. I just dropped in Friday and I easily made an appointment today (Monday) being out of contacts and Dr. Battino helped me right in time for my vacation. What's more is that I have a shop around the corner and I know for a fact that if anything ever happened Ed would be there to help me out without hesitation. Not only is that neighborly but to me that is the marker of GOOD PEOPLE! I know I may not be the easiest client but they always accommodate me and listen to my long stories. I've been wearing glasses since I was 9 years old and contacts since I was 16. Needless to say, I have bought MANY glasses and contacts and been to MANY eye doctors throughout my life. My visit to Whitestone Vision Center was by far the worst experience yet! I felt so uncomfortable the whole time due to the atrocious eye doctor and her horrendous, nasty attitude. I got nothing but attitude from this unprofessional doctor from the second I walked in. Constant eye rolls and snide remarks the whole time! I told her I was there for an eye exam and she told me to look forward and cover one eye. I wanted to first tell her about some eye issues I was having that were really important and she just ignores me and repeats "Okay, look forward and cover one eye." During the portion of the exam when she asked me if I saw better with one or two, I asked her to go back because both looked similar. She raised her voice and told me she couldn't keep going back and forth. What?! I never had this issue with my previous eye doctor. I think she just didn't feel like taking the extra 5 seconds to go back. She was rushing me the whole time! At the end of the exam, the doctor was pressuring me to buy glasses or contacts on the spot. When I told her I needed to think about whether I wanted to buy a pair of glasses or more contacts, she told me I needed to decide and buy something soon. She said something about how in order for my health insurance company to pay, I needed to decide quickly. Um, what? I never had an eye doctor say something like that to me. As I was paying my copay at the front desk, the eye doctor complained about me to the receptionist because she was annoyed I didn't buy anything. Yeah right! I tried this place because of location, sadly.. tremendous waste of my time! First of all RIDICULOUSLY OVER PRICED!!!!! the frames I first selected, Ed the owner told me the retail was $325, I found the very same frames for $137.00 asked if he would price match and he said absolutely not. No problem, I went with another pair that was less expensive (although I'm sure I was getting over charged for those too). I was told in 2 days they would be ready. When I picked up the glasses and tried them on, instantly told Ed something was wrong. He suggested I wear them for 2 days to adjust and if still an issue we would re-examine. After 2 days I returned and we re-examine w the same doctor. She rushes through and tells me she making an adjustment to one of the lenses as that's what was needed (I felt as if both eyes needed adjustments, but I'm not the professional so I just went with it). Modification was done and 2 days later I'm picking up the glasses. Only, the left eye seems perfect and still off on the right eye. I mean really, how many times should it take to get it right? So now I go back for the 3rd time to tell him great job with the left side, now if the right eye can see the same it would be great! Ed tells me this is the best they could do as they already worked on them twice .. So, best case.. He offers me a refund. I take it because at this point seriously... who wants to do business with you. His comment was "I didn't charge your insurance so you can go else where to get your eyes examined.. No harm no foul" .. Really? ... Thank you for being so kind as to NOT charging my insurance for a job partially done.. But .. As for the 3 time and the 6 days of set back .. Terrible experience, shitty job on the lenses as they couldn't get it right. Thankfully I went to Specs For Less where they got it right the first time!!!!! I have been coming here for about 10 years. I have gotten all my 3 pairs of glasses here and I have gotten compliments on all the frames I have bought from here. I have Gucci, Prada, and now Burburry frames. They have a nice selection of designer frames. I believe one need nice frames because that is the first thing people notice on you, especially if you where glasses all the time like myself. I go in from time to time to have my plastic frames taking in my Ed all the time. I love this place and the service they provide. This has been go to place for glasses for years. They have the best selection for safety glasses if you need them for work which I do. Most vision places have only a few pairs But they have about 20 different styles. Their selection of regular glasses and sunglasses is also well stocked. It's a small shop but they are always helpful and I love locally owned businesses over big chains. read more

My daughter got tested for eye glasses a few months ago at whitestone vision center and now decided that she wanted contacts. Sent her to back to them as they have her prescription but they said that she needed a new prescription. However, they failed to inform her that it wouldn't be covered by her insurance nor that it would cost her $150 for this exam. They pressured her into purchasing a "package" at a cost of $250 and asked her to leave a $50 deposit. She left the place WITHOUT a paper prescription; which I can't understand. I felt that she was taken advantage of as I walked out of Target with a prescription for contacts plus one trial for $50. Meanwhile, trying to rectify the situation was fruitless as they said that the $50 would be forfeited for their "time" if I didn't take the package. Very bad business on their part... read more

I went recently for a pair of prescription safety glasses and I had a problem with the frame not fitting correctly. After they attempted to adjust the frame a couple of times and being unable to get a comfortable fit they (Ed) replaced the frame and now I wear these daily at work. I am in total agreement with David K who wrote his review several years ago. Evidently, the optometrist who is there now is still the same individual that was there in 2012 because his description of her was right on the money. I plan on writing a letter to Ed, the owner of Whitestone Vision Center, because I think the lack of professionalism with regards to the optometrist deserves no stars. She is quite passive-aggressive, does not smile, and almost scowls at you when you ask a question. She is rude and her attitude atrocious. She should not be in a position in which she is dealing with the public so closely. I was in there two days ago trying to get my eyes examined for contacts. I was attempting to explain to her that I wanted to purchase the contacts from 1-800-CONTACTS. Evidently, something about my wanting to do it this way did not sit well with her. She kept insisting that I needed to be fitted, for a prescription that I've had for over 10 years! I was on my last pair of contacts, therefore, I did not want to turn this into a big production, especially when I knew that my prescription had not changed in all these years. My ophthalmologist does not do contacts, however, unlike this individual, he is a CLASS ACT and a professional and has always gladly faxed or called 1-800-CONTACTS with my prescription whenever I have asked him to. Had it not been for the lengthy wait-time to get an appointment with my ophthalmologist, I would have just gone to him in the first place instead of dealing with the attitude from this "professional". The staff that works at Whitestone Vision, as well as the owner, are all very nice people; THE OPTOMETRIST IS NOT. Quite frankly, I cannot understand why he would keep someone like this working in his office. The last time I was there, about 3 weeks ago, I had missed an appointment because I arrived too late. Had Ed, the owner, not been there, I'm sure this woman would have let me have it for arriving late. I notice her attitude is much more subdued when the owner is present. I would not want to be one of the underlings in that office, as I can only imagine how she must treat them. I would not recommend going to Whitestone Vision unless you enjoy someone with a permanent scowl on her face getting up-close and personal, unless you do not plan on asking any questions, as questions seem to irritate her, and unless you are the type that will just agree with whatever this woman tells you to do. NOT GOOD for a small, local business to have someone like this as part of the team! If Whitestone Vision had any vision at all, they would get rid of her ASAP and replace her with a people-oriented professional. I found this place through my insurance website and cross referenced the place with yelp. Only one bad review but everyone seemed very positive about the place so I decided to go here. The people that work at the desk are really friendly. I went through a bunch of glasses and decided not to buy but they were still very nice about it. However, I also decided to purchase contacts and this is where the problem arose. I was stupid to not talk to my sister before buying the contacts but she told me after that she thinks I got ripped off. Other places offer fitting and lenses for around 170 dollars mine were 250 dollars. Honestly, this wasn't the biggest problem. The biggest problem I had was with the doctor. She is passive aggressive and I did not feel comfortable at all. I forgot that I was supposed to wear my contacts for at least two hours before coming and when I told her that she rolled her eyes at me.It wasn't even a first impression thing because I had to go in for fitting about three times and each time I came out of the store feeling a bit uneasy. Bottom line, I don't usually like to bash on small businesses but glasses and contacts are a big investment and knowing the most information before buying them is crucial. read more
