We usually love this place, but we recently had a VERY bad experience. I will be reporting this restaurant to the FDA. My girlfriend has Celiac disease. If she consumes wheat then she is violently ill and sometimes fatigued and in physical pain for days - like cannot work kind of pain. We called before we came. I told them girlfriend has Celiac and asked about gluten options for a specific meal - the Mee Ga Ti - and they assured me that the noodle itself was gluten free (rice noodle), but they would substitute the sauce. We came and ordered and once again made it clear she has Celiac. They said the fried tofu was not Gluten Free, so we took that out of the order and just substituted the new Gluten Free sauce. The order comes. My girlfriend eats a decent amount. Finds fried tofu in it and freaks out because it means she is going to be suffering later, so we notify them that the meal is contaminated with Gluten. They tell us they will make it again. Then they come back and tell us that they made a mistake and that the noodles are NOT actually gluten free. My girlfriend really freaks out because it means that she is most definitely going to be in a lot of pain and suffering later considering how much she ate. She was crying and obviously very upset and we just needed to get home to tend to her. So, to recap. I called and I was assured that the noodles in the Mi-Ga Ti were Gluten Free. Then they made the meal knowing she has Celiac and didn't think to check if the noodles were, in fact, Gluten Free. Then they still added the fried tofu. After all this, they charged me for my meal, but very kindly didn't charge us for the poison they served her. I am going to be reporting this restaurant to the FDA. It's a shame, because I really liked going here before this. read more

Foodie had a hankering for these dishes Jennifer went to pickup her order. I was surprised and stated I will be honest when foodie asked do I like it? I put all on my plate like a tasting meal. I sipped my red wine not part of the order. I first tasted the string beans . To my surprise they were perfectly cooked, not under cooked or overly cooked. One thing I didn't understand Thai style string beans I didn't see any difference in flavor. However Pad Thai chicken was filled with rich ,delicious flavor. Out of all on my plate, this won me over 5 stars for sure. Egg plant was alright, I've had better and surely worse, papaya salad gave a nice clean taste to my Taste buds. Time is tough, we all experience food price went up due to inflations, gas price increase, food supply chain issue etc etc. blah blah blah....but let's take the last 3 month, I visited twice, your stored stated you will charge 3.5% if we use credit card, well, i didn't say a thing because the last year or so it has become a common practice amounts small business owner (ESPECIALLY RESTURANT). but the last 3-4 month, all the restaurant owner realized, by charging the customer the credit card fee does very bad to their business. So I visited your store today once again, you still have that fee there.... ok, you (the owner of Lemonleaf) have every right to do what you think the best for your restaurant, i understand time is tough, the cost is great to run a business, but hey!! you must realized, if you're having tough time on your wallet, the customer like myself is also having a tough time in my wallet. Had a really excellent experience with Door Dash Delivery And with the food at Lemonleaf Grill. Placed my order for beef satay, Tom yam gang soup, and gang Penang curry. The app is super easy to use and the order was prepared quickly. Delivery arrived even sooner than expected. Not only was the delivery quick but the restaurant remembered to send utensils, napkins, etc. The food was really excellent: Beef satay: tender marinated beef, easy to remove it from the skewers. So well flavored that it could have been eaten even without dipping sauces. The two sauces: peanut sauce, lemongrass sauce were both delicious and went perfectly with the beef satay. Tom Yam Gang soup: Nice and spicy. Well flavored, came with two jumbo shrimp. Gang Penang: creamy spicy sauce with a touch of sweetness. The chicken was tender and not overcooked. I need to break the mold and order different things but again we ordered the same items as last time we ate here. We started with Beef Sate...crisp and grilled on the outside but tasty and soft on the inside....delicious with the supplied peanut sauce and the sweet clear sauce...a must have dish. And, we unfortunately didnt read the end of my previous review and ordered the Spring Rolls...still crisp on the outside and mush on the inside...will not order that again! For mains it was also repeatsville! I got the Penang Curry Super xtra spicy and thats how it came...had lots of tender white meat chicken and was wonderful! Bonnie G. repeated and got the Basil Chicken which is always super good! I requested their condiments and used the chili sauce and green chilis in vinegar to add a bit more heat... The service was just ok due to only two servers in the restaurant. That was ok as they did refill water and come when beckoned. We love this place as its always really good with no surprises. When it comes to curry and the Thai soups, this place CANNOT be beat. As far as most of the other dishes that aren't curries I prefer Tiny Thai in Farmingdale. I've had a lot of experience with Thai food. Spent three weeks in Thailand and all I did was eat. So I consider myself fairly well versed in the flavors of Thai foods. With that being said this is my review... We didn't actually sit at the restaurant but ordered take out. We started with the calamari, beef satay, Tom yum soup, and fried dumplings. The beef satay was extremely tender and flavorful and the sauces it came with were good. The rest of the apps were kinda average. The massaman curry was creamy and rich with the flavor and texture of peanuts. I really enjoyed it, my only drawback I asked for my curry to be spicy and it was fairly under spiced. I enjoyed the flavors none the less. The quality of the food was good, and it did the trick if subduing my Thai craving, but it's probably not gonna be me first choice the next time the craving hits. read more

Let me start by saying we came here on a Saturday night on a whim actually. My husband ordered some type of chicken asparagus and mushroom dish and I had ordered a simple beef pad see ew ( broad noodles like chow fun) when our dishes arrived my husb brought to my attention that my dish was also chicken . So I immediately informed the waiter. He then looked at his notepad and took my dish to the kitchen, which BTW I can see. I saw him do something to my dish... which had suddenly hit me . That he was picking the chicken out directly from my plate. ( I know this bc I been in the food industry for 10+ yrs) About a few minutes pass by my beef dish is brought out. I see they used the same plate as the chicken dish bc there was grease on the side of the plate - (poor presentation) AND I can also see some bits and pieces of chicken on the plate. - this ruined my dinner experience bc I had just recovered from projectile vomiting like the exorcist having food poisoning from eating a chicken bean salad , hence I wanted to stray away from chicken for a while. And lo and behold there's chicken in my dish -_- I just picked at the dish and ate the veggies instead. In conclusion I really wanted to like this restaurant, however there's so many other Thai places to try before I make my way down the ladder to this establishment again . I gave the place another chance tonight - BAD MOVE. Their quality of food has since declined yet further and their prices have gone up again. To add insult to injury, they now REQUIRE a minimum 18% gratuity on parties of 2 or more (so, if you are not dining alone, you will forced to pay the excessive gratuity). Further to that, they calculate the tax before the gratuity so you pay another 18% of the tax. To go even further they also will charge a 3.5% surcharge if you pay by credit card. Overall, the restaurant has gone from BAD to WORSE and they have the audacity to rip you off at every opportunity. There is no need for mandatory gratuity for a party of two, calculating gratuity on top of tax and then still to charge 3.5% when paying with credit card. I can go on but, I have learned my lesson: If you want good food, good service at a good price and want to respected as a customer, Skip this place. ***BELOW IS MY REVIEW FROM 4 YEARS AGO - IT SEEMS THEY HAVENT LEARNED THEIR LESSON*** We used to go to this place all the time however we have notice gradual yet steady decline in food quality and service with a significant increase in price. Menu prices all went up by at least $3 a dish but also they have a 3.5% credit card up charge and a mandatory 18% service fee. Why have I not come here sooner? As I was hunting all around Long Island for a Thai restaurant that was half way comparable to the restaurants in the City, there was one mere minutes away from where I live! The food here is delicious! The price is right and the portions are big enough that I leave full. It's not a glamorous restaurant, but it is clean. This is definitely not 100% Thai but a Chinese version of cooking Thai style. All of us agree it tasted more Chinese than Thai. The portion & size was decent at okay prices. It sadden me that the appetizers are better than the entrees. The Satay was okay. The curry was okay too. But I was disappointed with the Salmon we ordered. We did not finish it and at least half left on the plate. It definitely tasted more Chinese than Thai and too refrigerated. I don't recommend the basil chicken too ( Too sweet, not too much meat). The food was hot and came in decent amount of time and service was acceptable. It's "The Lemonleaf Grill" Walking in, I was offered a nice large table. Great, I'm "Big JIM" a Perfect fit. I had 2 servers assigned to me Wow! Already impressed. Server#1, Gentleman who is actually the server he doubles doing many other things like getting napkins more water and tea. My waitress, was very accommodating and stopped back to check on many times. I had Beef Satay on the mind, This appetizer had been recommended by my Yelping friend Dick G., I had to have it. The servers were very nice to speak Mandarin with me.( Never get enough practice) I love good personal service but this time the food was also fantastic. Looking at the menu there was a wide selection of many yummy tempting things appetizers aplenty OMG it's for me. I wanted to play it safe my first time here and go with some of the recommended items I went with Dick's Beef Satay which was the best I have had ever, consisted of small pieces of tender marinated skirt steak laced on a skewer stick then grilled to crispy perfection on the outside but still moist and tender on the inside. (I'm spoiled now, can never tolerate less.) I Dipped them the variety of sauces brought to me. I could have Easily have had THIS alone Also got the Recommended Crunchy Mini spring rolls..And Repeated The Dipping process. Three Dipping sauces , Plus an Extra peanut sauce was bought for My pleasure. I Really Did Feel Like The King Here. The Black Oolong Tea paired with the Hot spices Incredibly Well. Then came the Main Dish That I wanted to Try, The Shrimp Pad Thai. Came to the table a heaping lunch portion! Had That smell to it that it should have . Topped with plenty of minced peanuts and piece of Lime, Hot and steaming on the table like a volcano! The shrimp's inside were Very Large and Tender, I think almost 10 of them I lost count.. I was Surprised that such a Large lunch portion and Very Happy. I Think I am Developing Thai Food Addiction, My friend told me that is treatable with Thai iced T & Curry. I have been wanting to try Lemonleaf for a while, so a rare couple of hours I had to myself on Sunday made it the perfect occasion. Honestly, it was NOT worth the wait. The restaurant itself had an empty feel to it. Walking in there's really nothing catching to the eye except for this enormous fish (it had to be at least 2 feet long) swimming back and forth in the most undecorated fish tank I ever saw. I started with the Po Pia (Vegetable Spring Rolls) served with a sweet and sour Thai sauce. Slightly doughy but actually very good. My main dish was the Gaeng Goong Sapparod (Pineapple Curry Shrimp). I always order my food mild so I can enjoy the flavor of the dish rather than having to drink a pitcher of water afterwards. Lemonleaf, unfortunately for me, did not understand what mild meant. I couldn't eat the food. I even ordered it with extra pineapple hoping this might help to disguise the spice, it just wasn't meant to be. So, once again, I found myself drinking that pitcher of water. The portions were huge (10 big shrimp) and presented very nicely in a pretty ceramic pot, but it was inedible for me. I had the food wrapped up to take home for my hubby to try and he literally consumed it!! I guess it really was a good dish. Great place, great atmosphere. I did not know that this restaurant also had a location in Hicksville. Originally the one that I was going to was the restaurant in Mineola. What I like about this location is the parking and the larger amount of space. For starters we had the cashew shrimp which only comes with three fried shrimp so if your hungry you may want a second serving or another appetizer. Thankfully we also did order the chicken dumplings! But do keep in mind there are only four dumplings. The shrimp was unexpected but it was flavorful in that small bite. The dumplings were also cooked well but I would have liked them possibly steamed a bit longer. For dinner I had the pad Thai with shrimp. What I like about this location is that you can customize the amount of spice in your dish. The spice was not overbearing but I will say you'll have left overs! The food was delicious and hard not to keep eating. We also had the green curry with tofu. Even though the curry did not have the most appetizing color- the dish was great. It is spicy- so if you don't like spice make sure you do ask for them to tone it down! Finally we also asked for a steak, now if you aren't too hungry be prepared for a fairly large steak with a tbone. The steak was cooked to perfect temperature. We were a party of 3 for dinner...walked in at 10, knowing they close at 11. From the second we walked in, they wanted to shove the food down our throats and kick us out...and it was only 10:20....they turned the heat up, shut of the background music. The staff is obnoxious to say the least without any clue of customer service. It was to the point that a drunk waitress interrupted taking our order from another waiter. She was totally intoxicated, and slurring her speech. They did not ask if we wanted anything more, and dropped the check on the table around 10:30 while we were still eating. The worst was the owner, as I called him over to give him feedback, and instead of being apologetic he started to tell us we should get there around 9 at the latest, and he cannot hold anyone back from his staff. These guys need a serious lesson on how to treat customers. A piece of advice...do not accept customers at 10 if you are unwilling to provide the same food / service as you would at other times. I would have gladly accepted that, than to have gone thru this horrific experience. Needless to say, they did not deserve a tip.
