I only have gotten takeouts from this place. The place is busy every time I was there, so I had to wait for a while for my food. But it's so worth the wait! The Indian dishes (the only things I went for although they offer Chinese and Thai too) are always great and priced very reasonably. Although I didn't eat there, I can see the staff being very attentive to their customers. Frankly the place is quite outdated but it's kept clean. I imagine patron still go for the diverse menu and qualities of food and services. read more

One star off for street parking experience we had to cross the street and it was really sketchy. Also inside had a funky smell and was literally a house converted to a restaurant. It was pretty small and cramped. There was no music until half way thru our meal when I guess important guests arrived.. also the food was mid It was all under seasoned, watery I ordered the coconut fish curry - they do not know how to cook fish it still taste a little fishy The chicken curry was not that great either - too spicy but not pleasant The aloo ghobi tasted like boiled veggies Mango lassi too sweet Garlic naan was good I have always gone to Diwan and the food and service and parking situation all was not as good as Diwan. Came here last weekend with my SILs - no better way to warm up on a cold January night than with some yummy Indian + fusion food! I ordered a lychee juice (yum!) which was so refreshing. We also ordered the vegetarian platter app (comes with samosas, and some other delicious treats) and the naan basket. You don't want to pass up on the naan! You can tell that it is homemade and it is fresh and delicious. The garlic naan definitely has some kick so if you're here on a date you might want to have a mint handy after. For my main, I ordered the Szechuan eggplant dish which was very unique and flavorful. The wonderful thing about Indian cuisine is that it is very vegan and vegetarian friendly (yay!) our dishes came with a large basmati rice to share with the table which was plenty, and we still had some left over. The eggplant was fried and came in a rich seasoning. I opted for medium spicy but they will make it to your heat preferences. Service was friendly enough - we waited a bit to order or to have someone come to our table. The inside is warm and cozy. Definitely looking forward to coming again soon, it had been way too long! I'm actually not new to Chili & Curry, I discovered this spot back in 2017, but I realized I should give this restaurant the positive Yelp review it deserves! I happily dined there again last night, there is just something soothing about Indian cuisine come autumn, and our dinner was definitely one to remember. We shared the Chicken Makhani entree (butter chicken), along with Lamb Rogan Josh and the Tandoori Mixed Grill. The curries were SO soothing (there I go again with the 'soothing' descriptor, LOL), and the Tandoori Mixed Grill had tender pieces of Tandoori chicken, shrimp, and chicken/malai kebabs that were truly delicious! Of course, once you mix it all together with their classic rice, it becomes a really hearty, and comforting, fall dinner. I also must mention the ambiance of Chili and Curry as well; the warm lighting, the traditional aesthetic, and the coziness of the small restaurant is perfect for the colder seasons. Really 4 stars for food but waited 50 minutes for entrees on a Saturday night where they barely kept the heat going. Food is halal and servers are attentive and kind but with the takeout orders the kitchen is overwhelmed. There are also things on the menu that aren't available. Chilli garlic noodles are great! Ginger chicken was more bland. Our friends recommended this spot but I don't like waiting. This is one of my fave places to eat in this area with family! We have both ordered take out and dined indoors. The food is equally delicious both ways! Just note that I believe only street parking is available for this restaurant -- we usually don't have an issue with finding parking when we dine there though (just be careful of course with the cars on Woodbury). When we go with a smaller group of people, we usually order: - Garlic Naan - Chicken Tikka Masala - Chana Masala - Vegetable Platter The portions are awesome, and I love the sauces you get with the vegetable platter. They changed the recipes AGAIN !!! All of a sudden some genius in the kitchen decided to batter and fry the eggplant in the Diwali biagon dish, terrible idea. The dish lacked the normal gravy and instead has globs of batter and thickened sauce. Next genius in the kitchen move, someone got their hands on a giant jar of minced garlic, absolutely disgusting and the genius in the kitchen managed to ruin the restaurant's signature dish Chicken Tikka Masala. Minced garlic imparts a bitter and harsh taste to the dish, a terrible taste. We got the chili lamb, there were no chilis or jalapeños in it, again the recipe has changed. The lamb was hard and dry, not fresh stewed (tender),the way it's been for years. Did the place get sold ? rumors amongst other customers waiting for their orders recently, ranged from yes, to Sanam is still in the kitchen, to no they didn't sell. I attended dinner with a friend here. The staff was very efficient. Appetizers and main course came out at just the right time. We had the Butter Chicken, Chicken Tikka Masala, chicken samosas, shrimp pakora, rice pudding, and garlic naan. Everything was tasty. I especially like the appetizers and my mango lassi. Service was speedy, liked that they kept a bottle of water and the table and yet were still attentive to water. They also gauged our spice tolerance (chose mild) and gave chili/spice on the side just in case to taste. Had several dishes to share: Appetizers: Califlower Manchurian, solid crispy on outside and of course tender but not mooshy as it can get Dishes: Hakka Noodles, a highlight! I've been hearing about Chili and Curry for a very very, very long time. I finally got a chance to meet a friend there for dinner and it was a great experience. The decor and set up inside is absolutely beautiful. We sat at a table towards the back of the restaurant, and a server came to us right away. After putting in an order of appetizers was included the papaya salad and the crispy chicken with dry chilis we decided to look over the menu again for dinner. We had to get the butter chicken and I really wanted to try the spinach paneer to dip my garlic naan in it. The food came out very quickly, hot and delicious! The service was impeccable, and I was given ample time to eat and catch up with my friend. Ordered paneer tikka masala Chicken jelfrezi Pallak paneer The tikka masala was way runny and lacking in flavor. It was if they took the base of the sauce and forgot to put in all the seasonings. Very disappointed. Now on the other hand the chicken jelfrezi, I asked for spicy. Oh boy did they deliver! This was one of the hottest Indian dishes I've ever had. Simply delicious! We ordered drums of heaven ,a cauliflower and potato dish and boti kebab. A lamb curry. Whenever I visit Long Island and crave Indian food this is the go to spot. Place is always busy and they do a lot of take out as well. Service is always phenomenal. When ordering, and the fact I myself am not Indian, they will ask if you want "Indian Hot" or "American Hot" which always makes me laugh. "Indian Hot" is way hotter than "American Hot" if you couldn't figure that out on your own. Food is always delicious never had any complaints. I've heard a lot about Chili and Curry over the years and this place seems to have a good reputation. I actually came here for lunch many years ago and I remembered it was good but can't remember exactly what we ordered. It's been sad that many restaurants closed down their buffets during Corona times, and Chili and Curry did the same for the past few years. However, I recently called and was very happy to hear that they brought their lunch buffet back. So I was looking forward to trying it and seeing how it compares to Diwan on 107. This place is pretty small and has some weird hours. When I called, they said their buffet was from 11am-2:30pm, but I came at 11am on a Saturday and was told they weren't opening until 12. So I didn't go that day, but went back on a different weekend. I think the official buffet hours are from 11:30am-2:30pm on all days expect Monday. So I was happy to get in on a Saturday recently. There weren't too many people there when I arrived around 12:30pm on a Saturday, but people started coming in more towards 1:30. The first thing I noticed was that there weren't too many options to choose from at the buffet; maybe a total of 7 or so items. The ones I remember are butter chicken, goat masala, tandoori chicken, hakka noodles, mixed vegetables (mostly potato), and vegetable pekora. Which I don't have too much of a problem with if everything they offer is good. Unfortunately, all of the items seemed to have at least some sort of issue that dampened my enjoyment of them. For example, the butter chicken (one of my favorite things in the world) was kind of cold and not heated up very well. They had sternos set up for the food, but for some reason it wasn't keeping the butter chicken very hot. So it didn't taste amazing. The chicken pieces in the butter chicken were also very dry for some reason so it was disappointing. I'm not a huge fan of goat masala, but I tried some and it was ok. I actually liked the the flavor of the goat masala more than the butter chicken on this particular day. The hakka noodles were also pretty cold and just... missing something. Normally I'd enjoy these style of noodles a lot but it just tasted flat. The mixed vegetables (mostly potato) were pretty ok, nothing special. The vegetable pekora was very soggy and not crispy at all. So I really wanted to enjoy the food, but it just didn't deliver and it was kind of frustrating because I usually love indian buffet. I have to note a few good things to be fair. First off, the price for the buffet is excellent at $14.95 plus tax. I think this price is right where it should be. Also, this price includes naan, which is cool. At Diwan, they actually charge extra for naan these days, so I appreciate that these guys didn't pull something like that here. So I'll go with 2 stars for now cause my experience was disappointing. I feel like I might've just come on an off day though, so I definitely hope to try their buffet again in the near future and have a good experience. read more

A small mom and pop shop that has good Indian food. My husband and I are new to the area but everyone recommended Chili & Curry. Street parking is a hit or miss but I see a lot of people getting takeout. It is a tight space so I wouldn't recommend for large groups. We love the Garlic Naan and Chicken Tikka Masala. The classics are delicious and are hard to mess up. The Tomato Soup was like an average American tomato soup. It didn't have all the different seasonings an Indian Tomato Soup would have or it was very lightly seasoned. The Chicken Samosas were a bit dry and not very flavorful. I assume they're not a popular item because they did not seem fresh. The Trader Joe's samosas are better in my opinion. The Chicken Biryani was a bit saucy for a fried rice and seemed to be cooked in a tomato sauce. It wasn't like any of the other biryanis that I've had in the past. The Chicken Shahi Korma isn't as good as the Chicken Tikka Masala. The texture wasn't as soft and the sauce wasn't as creamy as I had hoped. We did enjoy the Crispy Chicken with Honey and Dried Chili. It seemed almost like a sweet and sour chicken but in the form of Chinese BBQ boneless spare ribs. read more

If you want comparable vindaloo or tikka masala, you must go to London. This place is the real deal and very consistent. I land at new chili at least once every two weeks, sometimes weekly. My staple order is always chicken vindaloo or chicken tikka masala and if I'm hungry enough, a side of their garlic naan. The chicken is perfectly cooked and each sauce is well balanced and traditional. Absolutely try this place out if you love authentic Indian.
