This is a new Thai restaurant in Morton Village Shopping center. It's decorated beautifully. I love how the menus, dishes, utensils and decor all create this upscale homey atmosphere. The menu has dishes from all over Thailand. I can't wait to try them. My husband, daughter and I ordered things we typically like for a nice Thai dinner. I ordered the tomkha soup, which was delicious but very filling. My husband ordered the tomyum soup to start. Was light and good but spicy. I also enjoyed a green tea in a beautiful floral cup and saucer. For her entree, my daughter had the chicken satay. She didn't love it, but my husband and I thought it was really good. She really loved my husband's chicken pad Thai. He enjoyed it as well. I ordered the shrimp panang curry, was really good. Ample amount of shrimp and vegetables. A bit spicy but not too spicy for my taste. The service was slow, but it is a new restaurant, was packed, and only had 2 people working. I really enjoyed my meal and will for sure be back

New Thai restaurant in Plainview and a wonderful addition ! Beautiful, tasteful and cozy interior. Excellent service and delicious food. What more can you ask for? I guess convenient parking in the strip mall? Staff very friendly.

I don't usually leave a review only after one visit but this little place is worth it! Nicest staff - cordial polite and accommodating and omg the food and ambience are just great!!! A must try. My gf and I came here today for the first time after I saw a review online. She had the lychee and I had the passion fruit sparkling mocktails and they were to die for. Shared some food - basil dumplings and pad tai chicken cashew nut - one with tofu all delicious and fresh. The seasoning is right on the money! Thanks will be going back soon!

The Thai food is just decent . Nothing really special but the inside is beautiful. I would recommend that they get a bit cheaper and bigger portions. The service is very not existent they stand around until your finished and look at you . I just wish they would cater to children ans would do something unique not like every thai place

The most incredible thai experience on Long Island. The food is fresh, flavorful and the ambience is amazing. The staff (Oliver!!) is amazing, so welcoming and make the experience even more special. Every dish had so much flavor. Highly recommend the basil puffs (incredible!!!), roti, short rib khao soi and kuah kling

Finally a Thai spot opened in Plainview, I called a few minutes before they closed so I was able to place a take out order thankfully. Leena who was working was very polite and sweet, I informed her of our long awaited desire and our close proximity. The food was AMAZING. We loved every second of it. Robust flavors, perfect Thai spice. I couldn't have been happier with a hearty much needed meal. I made sure to let them know we will be returning and frequently. It's very cute inside. Very well decor. Seems like the perfect place for a family meal, a dinner with friends, or that perfect date! Although still awaiting the liquor license they have a wide variety of mocktails. Consider us loyal customers. Finally some fantastic Thai food locally.

I ordered the chicken pad see ew, beef red curry, chicken satay, and basil chicken. Tried to hit every meat group. Next time gotta try the fish The Chicken Pad See Ew was a standout. Wide rice noodles with that perfect chewy texture and beautiful wok hei char. The savory-sweet soy-based sauce coated everything perfectly, and the mix of tender chicken and juicy pieces made it incredibly satisfying. The Beef Red Curry was rich and aromatic with a luscious coconut milk base. The red curry paste had great depth. There was layers of lemongrass, galangal, and spices. The beef was melt-in-your-mouth tender, and the bamboo shoots, bell peppers, and Thai basil were fresh and plentiful. I loved how it had a nice kick that built up without overpowering the dish. The Chicken Satay came out perfectly grilled with beautiful char marks. The chicken was juicy and marinated well, and the peanut sauce on the side was creamy, nutty, and addictive. Finally, the Basil Chicken delivered that classic Thai street-food flavor. Plenty of fragrant holy basil, lots of garlic, and just the right amount of chili heat. The chicken was tender with great texture, and it paired amazingly with jasmine rice. Everything arrived hot, fresh, and beautifully presented. The portions were very generous too -- we had plenty of leftovers for the next day. As my son would say "10 out of 10!" but since we are on yelp, we'll have to settle with a 5. Give this place a try.

We ordered a few dishes from the must try menu, and they did not disappoint! The crab meat fried rice really hit the spot. The pad Thai leaned more toward the sweet side, with a hint of ketchup. The green curry duck was delicious--would have been perfect with just a little more curry sauce. We ended the meal with the coconut pudding, which brought back a little taste of the streets of Chiang Mai. Will definitely be back!

I really liked how most of the menu has pictures of the items so you know what you're ordering. We both ordered from the Lunch Special (Mon-Fri 11:30AM-3PM: $15 for an appetizer, protein and main course). I ordered the Spring Rolls (2 pieces) and Pad See Ew with Shrimp (came with 4 pieces of shrimp). Everything was delicious, flavorful and freshly made. I also ordered the Thai Iced Tea which came in this cute ball shaped glass and was delicious. Our server was very nice and patient with us. The decor inside the restaurant was very cute and there was plenty of natural light coming in. There was limited seating inside as it's not very big but there was also some seating outside. My friend was also very happy with her food, especially her Tom Yum soup. I would definitely return to try other menu items!

All of their curries are fantastic and come with a small bowl of rice. My favorite appetizer is their "money bags." I recently tried their pineapple fried rice and it was perfect. Wish it had a few more pineapple chunks as my bestie and I shared the bowl. The servers are excellent especially if you have any allergies. I can't eat shellfish and they'll thoroughly check before placing your order. Their Thai iced tea is really tasty and comes in cute cups. They're easy to "down," so pace yourself in order to enjoy it with your meal. They have a small bar area that fills up fast when tables are occupied. And there is a bathroom tucked in the corner that feels like you're on a train when inside of it. It feels like it's rumbling because of the fan. Perfect for an escape on the beaten path! I would definitely come back to try other items from their regular menu. I found the entrees in the lunch special a little skimpy. These are the dishes we shared: -- Papaya Salad ($12): this is from their regular menu, and I thought it was excellent! Well balanced and so tasty! -- Drunken Noodles w.Beef (Lunch Special $14.95): this came with a Spring Roll and your choice of either Soup or Salad. We chose the Soup, which was a Tom Yum Soup. The Soup was very spicy but the Drunken Noodles were very mild; almost bland. It definitely needed more flavors and wok hei, but still ok. -- Massaman Curry w.Shrimp (Lunch Special $14.95): this came with a Spring Roll and your choice of either Soup or Salad. We chose the Salad, which came with a Peanut sauce. The Salad was actually pretty good; the peanut sauce was slightly sweet. The Massaman Curry w.Shrimp was very weak in flavor and only came with 3 little shrimps. I would suggest you order a different protein and skip the shrimp. Customer service was good; albeit there was nobody to greet us when we first arrived, so we just seated ourselves. But service got better. They didn't rush us to order and let us linger after we finished eating. But after a while, we were asked to leave since they close the restaurant in between the lunch and dinner service (between 3:30-4:30pm). Sorry, we were not aware of this! All in all, a decent first experience. Next time, I'd skip the lunch specials and just order off their regular menu.

Given the culinary brilliance here, if you order one of your favorites, it'll be done well, but you're better off trying something unique that might not be on the menu at your local Chinese, Indian or Thai spot. Chili tofu and basil ginger fish were two great showcases for the complex spices available here. (I'm a real American hero, I ate fourths since my parents preferred leftovers that didn't have the top spice levels). And if you're spice-adverse yet chili-curious, the honey chili potato is worth a shot. These are essentially fries. Our server, Ten, was amazing. He adeptly handled the multiple time frames of our orders and is ready to provide suggestions for those who didn't spend 40 minutes researching on Yelp. Part 2. I wish there was editing capability for older reviews. I'm a two-sentence guy - are there fish tacos, does it have strange hours of operation and will they sneer at me for wearing Kohls? - and my first Kunga Kitchen attempt was a bit extra. It even had a narrative arc. I'm someone who thinks movies can be better if the character doesn't change or learn anything, but I tried for three-act structure and can't possibly top that original review so it would be better if I could a couple of recent entrees to the first one.

***INDO-CHINESE FLAVOR BOMB IN YOUR MOUTH*** ***SUPER…read moreFRIENDLY FAMILY-RUN RESTAURANT*** INDO-CHINESE? In the early 1800's a large number of Chinese citizens, immigrated to Calcutta, a city in the northern part of India, close to China. After becoming established, many of these immigrants started opening restaurants to support themselves. And then, because of a lack of certain ingredients, and to tailor the food to the palates of the Indian citizens, these Chinese chefs altered their recipes. And these new recipes, incorporated certain Indian spices, and a heavier use of spices and sauces - which made these new style dishes especially appealing - and created what is known today as Indo-Chinese, or Indian-style Chinese food. MASTER CHEF MIKE TENG Mike Teng, son of Hakka Chinese parents, was born and raised in India. He started cooking at 14, and eventually became a head chef preparing Indo-Chinese food in Mumbai. Then in 1984, he emigrated to the US and worked in the restaurant industry, until he became executive chef at the famous Jade Eatery & Lounge in Forrest Hills Queens. And it was here that he became notorious for his unique cuisine, and went on to receive numerous accolades. A DIFFERENT APPROACH After seven years of grueling work at Jade, Mike decided to take a break from the restaurant industry for a while. Then in 2019 he opened Teng's Restaurant, and set up operations in a way that would minimize work. As such, the restaurant would only open for dinner, between 4-11 PM, and there would be minimal table service. So let me explain how this works: You sit down at a table, and a friendly family member takes you order and helps with recommendations if necessary. And then you grab paper plates & cups, and plastic utensils from a shelf by the front counter. There's also a refrigerator here with drinks to choose from. And then the food is served to you at the table in take-out style containers. THE KEY TO ORDERING HERE There are a relatively large number of items on the menu, but most of the dishes can be broken down into a few different styles, such as Hakka Chili, Manchurian, Salt And Pepper, Orange, Szechuan, Basil, Kung Pao, and Ginger & Scallion. And the key to ordering here is to avoid choosing multiple dishes in the same style, as the meal & flavors can become one-note in nature. But if your vigilant, and pick some of the best items from each style, you will be rewarded with an Indo-Chinese flavor bomb in your mouth. FIRST TIME? GIVE THESE A SHOT So a few recommendations to try on a first visit, if you're able to enjoy spicy foods would be: - Hakka Chili Style Chicken or Beef - Salt and Pepper Style Fish Filets or Chicken - Orange Chicken or Kung Pao Chicken - Manchurian Style Fish or Chicken - General Tso's Chicken or Tofu - Ginger and Scallion Chicken - Szechuan Wontons or Momos - Orange Glazed Wings or Hakka Chili Wings - Basil Fried Rice - Hakka Noodles And here's a few vegetable recommendations: - Manchurian style Cauliflower or Salt and Pepper Cauliflower - Szechuan Potato or Potato with Black Bean Sauce - Spicy Stir Fried String Beans. - Mapo Tofu - Manchow Soup with or without meat YOU'RE PROBABLY GONNA LOVE THIS PLACE After many visits here with dozens of different people, I've noticed first-timers always react the same way when trying one of chef Teng's best dishes. Their eyes open wide, and the head starts slowly shaking side-to-side, and then I hear grunts of mmm! or wow! I mean really, it never fails to be a wonderful surprise for everyone. But don't get me wrong, not everything on the menu is a home run. For example, some of the Asian fusion dishes such as Pad Thai or Mango Chicken are just weird. So even though there are some things to overlook here, such as no lunch service, or the cafeteria style vibe, If you choose some of the chef's best dishes, for sure that flavor bomb is going to hit you right in the mouth, and you'll definitely be coming back here for more. I always do.
