Came for lunch with a group of 5 which was an awkward number as the restaurant is not large and the place was full. We were all women and luckily able to squeeze into a table for 4 in the alcove area. Like I said, it was a bit busy so service was slow. I had to ask the waiter to come and take our order and even then it took a bit for our order to come out. As we were there for a group lunch, the wait didn't bother us too much. We all opted for the lunch special which is a decent deal, $15 for an app and entree. I got the ginger salad and the drunken noodles with chicken. The salad was tasty but overdressed, I wished I had asked for the dressing on the side. The drunken noodles were not too spicy and a bit too sweet for my taste. I feel they used the same sauce as the pad see ew and added a little spice to make it the drunken noodle. We also ordered the mango sticky rice. They only had one left so we shared it amongst the 5 of us. We were taken aback by the green color of the rice but the color didn't add any strange flavor. Would i return? I've been to UThai Bistro twice, so far, and both times were very enjoyable! There was always only one waiter but it's a small and quaint restaurant so it worked fine! No wait time for anything and the waiter was very courteous and welcoming! I dont like spice so I always ask for whatever I order to be made very mild, same with Indian food, I love the flavor without the heat! They are also very accommodating here and what I ordered for both visits were absolutely delicious! The chicken dish I ordered is made with potatoes, onions, peanuts and coconut milk. UThai Bistro is located in Woodbury Common Shopping Center. My friend and I came to UThai Bistro on a Thursday night around 6:30pm. There are plenty of parking spots and the shopping center has many other businesses. The decor in UThai Bistro is very pretty and it is cozy inside. I ordered a Thai Iced Tea and a shrimp Pad Thai. The food was very good, flavorful, and very filling. It is a good portion. Usually, Thai iced tea is served in tall glasses, but this was served in a small fish bowl. The shrimp Pad Thai had stir-fried thin rice noodles, bean sprouts, scallions, and egg in a sweet tamarind sauce. The ground peanuts were separate to allow you to mix in how much you like. Last minute lunch plans it's a cute small restaurant. Surprisingly it's smaller than, I expected but decent for a small gathering. We ordered spring rolls and chicken satay for appetizers. Main course we ordered drunken noodles medium spicy with tofu and panang curry with jasmine rice. The food was fine not bad I liked the appetizers and the curry was good. I love drunken noodles but not sure how I felt about these they were average. For me personally service needs work for sure. The menu that I had was wet all the pages had water all over. Our host didn't even check up on us to see if we needed anything. Instead we had to ask for things like can we have napkins or a straw or more water. Friendly service in a nicely decorated space. They do not have alot of tables and don't take reservations on Fridays or Saturdays. The food is decent, some dishes were much better than others. We tried the moneybags (4 in an order), curry puffs (4 in an order), calamari, BBQ beef and roti massaman as starters. The moneybags were unremarkable and the roti was a bit overcooked (should be softer), but the curry dip was solid. The curry puffs, calamari and beef were tasty and I would eat them again. For entrees we ordered the pad kee mao with chicken (spicy) and khao soi (which is not on their physical menu, but did appear on their online menu). The kee mao was good but a bit sweet which was odd. The khao soi was a good sized dish and came with a good amount of chicken and 6 shrimp. Cute Thai restaurant! Decor is nicely curated and the bench tables and pillows are cozy. Tried the green curry which was well spiced and an appetizer of wheat paper wrapped peanut filling. Decor was chic and French country...think mint green walls, gold accents, mirrors, plants, and chinoiserie. On her suggestion, we made our way to a charming little spot tucked into the corner of Woodbury Commons on Jericho Turnpike--home to one of the best Thai restaurants on Long Island: UThai Bistro. To be honest, I've often been underwhelmed by Thai cuisine on Long Island. Many places serve uninspired versions of pad Thai and curry dishes that, in their true form, should burst with flavor. But then we remembered UThai Bistro...a place we've visited a few times before. We instantly knew it was the right choice. Their food stands out for its authenticity and bold, creative flavors that make your taste buds sing . The interior is clean and minimalist , with just a handful of tables inside and out, accented with artwork and décor evoking the vibrant spirit of Thailand . Oliver, the owner, host, server, and jack-of-all-trades--is a warm & gracious person. While the service may not be lightning-fast, his kind demeanor and sincere apologies for minor delays made the experience feel more like dining at a friend's home. . He was a true delight--and so was the food. The menu offers a thoughtful mix of traditional favorites and inventive dishes, along with a surprisingly extensive cocktail list. With just the two of us dining, we had to choose carefully--and we chose well. We began with vegetable potstickers --lightly steamed dumplings filled with tender mixed vegetables , served with a homemade ginger-soy vinaigrette. A perfect, flavorful starter. But the standout appetizer was the Somtum papaya salad : shredded green papaya, carrots , string beans , tomatoes , crushed peanuts , and crisp romaine lettuce all tossed in a zingy chili-lime ‍ dressing. The combination of sweet, tangy, and spicy flavors, paired with the crunch of fresh vegetables and a nutty finish, made for an irresistible start to the meal. For our mains, we shared the red coconut curry salmon and the green curry chicken --and both were exceptional. The salmon was pan-seared to flaky, moist perfection and bathed in a sweet and spicy red coconut curry sauce. It was delicately topped with crisp green beans and served over a bed of asparagus and carrots , with fragrant jasmine rice on the side. Honestly, it was one of the best salmon dishes I've ever had! we both loved it! The green curry chicken , served in a spicy green curry paste with eggplant , bamboo shoots, bell peppers , and fresh basil , is a Thai classic. While we requested a milder spice level (which, in hindsight, dulled the dish just a bit), it was still delicious. The chicken was tender, the bamboo shoots added a delightful crunch, and the basil gave it that signature aromatic lift. Next time, we're ordering it full heat ! And now... my favorite part: Dessert! On a past trip to Thailand, we fell in love with mango sticky rice --a dessert that's surprisingly hard to find done well in the States. The mangoes must be perfectly ripe, and the season is so short that many restaurants skip it entirely. But not UThai. Not only did they offer it--they nailed it. Picture this: a warm dome of floral-scented sticky rice infused with soft shreds of coconut , nestled beside velvety, golden cubes of the juiciest mango you've ever tasted. Delicious and authentic Thai food is offered for dining in or take out. Thai food often incorporates heat/spice into many of its traditional dishes and UThai is no exception. What I really enjoyed is that the spice level did not overwhelm the flavor of the dishes - fresh basil, bell peppers, curry and other flavors all shone through in a well-balanced way. The curries are all spectacular and the noodle dishes are super tasty. A special shout out to the pineapple fried rice which had a clean taste which was not overwhelmed by soy sauce. The restaurant is modestly sized and decorated warmly. Very comfortable setting to enjoy your meal with soft music in the background. It would have been nice to have been offered water or even another beverage that I gladly would have paid for. I was given a menu, but not the lunch menu. I had to request it. I ordered gyoza for my lunch appetizer and then chicken pad Thai medium spice as my entree. Veggie gyoza was just okay. Chicken pad Thai was not medium spice or any spice as requested. It is the same owner as the UThai in Rego Park (Queens), only the Rego Park location one is more of a fast food takeout style... certainly not fancy and also costs significantly less. We ordered the fried chicken wings appetizer (peek gai), green curry with chicken, and the khao soi. - Peek Gai: Came with six pieces of half wings. Beautifully friend with crispy exterior and moist interior. Nice brown color. Delicious, especially with the dipping sauce. - Green Curry with Chicken: Not spicy so I'm not sure why there are three chili peppers on the menu. I didn't think the flavors came through much and felt it was watered down. It wasn't terrible, but I've certainly had way better. - Khan Soi: Gorgeous presentation. Much sweeter than I thought it would've been. I thought this was just okay. The raw red onions brought it up a level. Overall I did have a good time at the restaurant. The interior is very nice. The service was exceptional. The wings were great and I really wanted more. But I thought the main courses weren't all that. It's Long Island good, but not Thai good... ya know? Over $70+ after tax and tip for one appetizer, two main courses, and one Thai iced tea would definitely make me think twice about coming here more often. I've been coming to Uthai Bistro for a while now and should have posted sooner. This had to be some of the best Thai food that I've ever eaten. The Sweet and dSpur Chicken was a generous portion of mixed vegetables and fresh chicken. I couldn't finish it all. Of course I had to have the Tomka Gai soup which is phenomenal. I don't think I could find it better anywhere else. The service was lovely and the atmosphere is peaceful and relaxing. Not too loud and the music is a smooth jazz that you could never not like. Stumbled across UThai Bistro this afternoon and am so happy that I did! Working close by I have grown tired of the same old places. The first thing that struck me walking in was how beautiful this charming little restaurant is decorated, so may flowers and pretty things from abroad to look at. The staff was very welcoming to this solo diner. I ordered the lunch special and was impressed by the variety of choices and the price ($14!), am amazing deal nowadays when it seems like $50 is the new $20. What I did not expect was how absolutely amazing the food was! Fresh, bold, with multiple layers of flavor. What a hidden gem! The TomYum soup was so, well, YUM! with a nice slightly spicy broth I couldn't stop eating. We were hungry for sure... but I've never had anything like that!! Perfect start to the meal!! We ordered Pad See Ew with chicken and pineapple fried rice with veggies. I could smell the dishes as they were placed down on the table. How do you describe that smokiness from the Wok?? I could smell it... and that first bite... OMG!!! The rice noodles... they were like gigantic ripped sheets of rice noodle!! I love a chewy rice noodle!! This was epic!!!!The chicken was delicious and the Chinese broccoli....
