Seems like a relatively authentic Thai restaurant. Popped in for lunch even though I've been here several times over the years, but it's definitely been a while. Appreciated the lunch menu as it was pretty clear cut and easy to figure out the different options. Price comparable to what one would expect at other local restaurants. My friend and I split two dishes and they were both amazing. Green curry with shrimp and the Pad See Ew with chicken. We got exactly what we were expecting as one came with a side of rice and one was a noodle dish. We come often and never disappointed. Service is always friendly, attentive and you never need to ask for water refills, clean plates. Extremely welcoming staff and plenty of private lot parking making your visit even easier. My wife loves their Thai iced tea, we always take several cups to go after enjoying our heavy meals. They also serve coconut water with fresh young coconut pieces. Sort of a bit of sweetness before the tasty spices. We had most of their appetizers such as the fried tofu, som tum (pictures), crispy rice balls with Thai sausage (also pictured). The khao soi noodles, Gao salmon but my favorite is now the Duck Duck (pictured). Crispy duck with sweet and sour "jam" like sauce. It is amazingly "meaty" (boneless). Our other favorite is the crab fried rice (pictured as well). The buttery rice with chunks of crab meat is so yummy I can continue to rave about Gao Thai Kitchen but you should just come and enjoy their hospitality and great food offerings. Another sweet to finish with is fresh mango and sticky rice which is seasonal but if you are lucky to have the opportunity, it is a must try. Sister restaurant of Ammata Thai, solid Thai food in a small space (though prefer Ammata). A good selection of the usual thai fare. The calamari was quite good, not just all breading. I enjoyed my ginger vegetable and tofu dish and the beef pineapple fried rice was also good. We walked in on a Saturday night and they were busy. There were a few tables open but maybe they were reservations? The space is kind of tight and definitely some tables had better location than others. This was my second time coming to the restaurant the first time I came for a dine and experience, which was awesome the second time it was a pick up order to go the day before Christmas Eve. My daughter was in town and we needed something to eat while we traveled for Christmas . I ordered the spring roll the wonton soup and the chili and basil fried rice. I really enjoyed their wonton soup. The broth has a lot of flavor in it and it's always consistently good. The fried rice has egg, bell pepper, chili, and fried onion in it. The restaurant on the inside is actually quite beautiful and has some great artwork on the wall. Just not the picture and added it here. I will definitely be back. This location is always packed for takeout as well as for dinner and I'd really enjoy their food. read more

GAO is close to me, and when I first visited, the place was PACKED with people! However, we were seated quickly without a reservation which was awesome. It's a cute and quaint spot with cool views of Main Street Ramsey. I got the tofu pad Thai, my favorite, and it was pretty good. We started with the Thai Tea with Guava is very tasty. It has a nice blend where you can still taste both the tea and guava, without either being overwhelming, it's a nice balanced flavor. My wife had the duck duck. It was very good. The broccoli side was not overcooked. The duck portion was a good size, a nice amount of protein. The skin is not marketed as being crispy, so this is just fair warning that it's not crispy at all. I had a hard time with the texture of the skin, but it's not hard to put the skin aside. The pineapple fried rice was tasty. Heat level felt like a 2/10. I imagine they might make it spicier upon request. It was pleasant. I detected a hint of fish sauce. I probably only noticed because of another review which mentioned the fish sauce smell. The restaurant did smell a bit like fish sauce, my wife didn't detect it though. It added needed depth and was a nice flavor. I usually don't like fish sauce, because I'm not a big fish man. It was a good amount of rice and fixings. However, I would have liked more beef. I would estimate the beef on my plate being about 1/10 of the duck my wife had. However, I don't think fried rice is often known for being protein heavy, so I'm not saying this is a negative. But it might be better suited as a side for the table in a larger group. We both enjoyed the meal and were happy to try the restaurant. But neither of us felt the need to return again. read more

When I first went there I was surprised at how authentic the place was! Now it's so westernized and commercialized I can't even call it Thai food anymore! The food is all about the sugar! It has gotten so ridiculously sweet I couldn't finish the food that we ordered! How can Tom Yom Gong soup be sweet?! How can Pad Thai be sweet? It looked great (being a vegetarian, I did not try) - my eyes were telling me these dumplings were handmade, and filled to the brim. You should consider more options for us vegetarians. Please! We ate at this place because the restaurant that we wanted to go to had an hour and a half waiting time, in the middle of a thunderstorm, so we had to settle for less. Looking through the windows I didn't think it was an authentic Thai restaurant, but more of the kind that caters to Western palates. Sure enough, both the Som Tum Thai (papaya salad) and the Pad Kee Mao were quite bland. I was especially unimpressed with their substitution of ingredients: e.g. instead of the long string beans, they used normal green beans (much cheaper, too soft for the bite and wrong taste), while the usual bamboo shoots etc were all missing. When my husband ordered the Thai Jungle stir fry with shrimp, the waitress asked if he could handle level 4 spiciness ... what spiciness? It was barely a level 2 for our preference. The only redeeming quality of that dish was the generous amount of large shrimps ... worth the price they charge I guess. Service was impeccable, and it was definitely popular with the local crowd, as the take-out orders were pouring in. It may be good enough for people unfamiliar with Southeast Asian cuisines, but it certainly came short for this family of world travelers! read more

We found this little gem while searching for a Thai restaurant for my brother-in-law's birthday dinner. It was a spur of the moment decision, so we didn't have reservations. We got there and while the host didn't seem thrilled that we hadn't called ahead, he quoted us a 30 minute wait. To be honest, we almost left, but I'm glad we stayed. We started off with some Thai iced teas and the curry puffs. The tea was perfectly sweet and creamy, while the puffs were piping hot. So good! My husband ordered the Tom Yum Chicken soup as a starter and it was very flavorful. For my entree I went with the Black Noodle with Veggies and Tofu. It was loaded with vegetables and exceeded my expectations. My husband ordered the Beef Pad Gra Pow and it, too, was delicious. My brother-in-law's Chicken Kee Mao Noodle was very good with an extra spicy kick. I was looking forward to some mango and sticky rice for dessert, but sadly, they were out. A bummer, but we ended up going somewhere else for dessert. Overall, we were very happy with our meal. The service was good and efficient. Oh boy let me tell you that was THE best chicken satay I had. It wasn't hard and juicy and the flavor was spot on. Still even had that burnt taste. Without a doubt chicken satay is a must try. We're avid thai food eaters. We have a fav in the area and decided to try something new as a take out order. Got basil thai fried rice, drunken noodles and massaman. We asked for all three dishes to be spicy but none of them were. In fact, the massaman was particularly sweet. More sweet than any other massaman curry we've ever tried. Really wanted to like the place given its close by but every dish we got the flavors were bland, sauce lacking and nothing really hit. I was so glad to see Gao delivering through Chow Now/Doordash. This was our go to Thai restaurant before covid...we ordered our favorites: Beef Panang, Pad Thai, and BBQ beef. Delicious as always. The sticky rice/jackfruit parfait wasn't as good as in person...I think it partially melted intransit and then lost something texture wise when I put it in the freezer until dessert time. Located in a small standalone building on the corner of Ramsey's little Main Street area is GAO Thai, a casual dine-in/takeout Thai restaurant. GAO Thai has its own little (free) parking lot on the side of the building, which is a plus if you know how annoying it can be to find parking to shop and eat at some of Ramsey's Main Street businesses. Delivery is also available. I am VERY picky about Thai food, so I'm happy to say that GAO Thai hit all the marks for me. I ordered my go-to meal when I'm not familiar with a restaurant: pad Thai. If the restaurant makes good pad Thai, then I feel confident they will get the other dishes right too, and I will eat there again. My pad Thai from GAO Thai was excellent, with bold flavors, fresh meat and sprouts, and not at all greasy. The Tom yum was one of the better ones that I've tasted, and the spring roll a crispy, flavorful accent to my meal. The lunch special was a good value with nice size portions of food. I've eaten at this restaurant 5 to 6 times per year for the last five years. I would usually have tom Yum soup and drunken noodle and for the most part I've been reasonably pleased (3.5/5stars for food and service at this price point) with the food and therefore I've always returned for another visit. Tonight will be the last time I go to this restaurant I arrived at 8:25 requested a seating for one individual as I normally do, and they refused to see me stating that their kitchen closes at 9 PM and they've already done the last seating. All I can say is are you kidding me? What type of business stops seating customers 35 minutes before the kitchen closes? Very disappointing read more

Came here on Sunday after we chaired the farm. It was a great expierence, I called and made a reservation for 3 (2 and a high chair) they were supper friendly. The only down side was that they didn't have the pineapple ribs, but the food was good. I had the Gao spicy noodles, and my husband had the pineapple fried rice with chicken and shrimp. We also had the chicken satay, it was ok, not my favorite, maybe I was just too focused on wanting the ribs. My son was being a annoying because he was hungry, and the waitress kindly came, and brought he two pieces of bread to calm him down. Then when the food came, they witness his hunger and was very surprised at how vocal my two year old is.. and with his approval "YUMMY YUMMY! They were all relived.
