Don't fear the fusion. I wasn't sure what to get but the Yelp-approved red curry was a good choice, with impressively fresh vegetables including broccoli, mushrooms and red peppers. And the chicken cheese egg roll fun? Authentic Chinese fare, no, but authentic suburban cuisine, you betcha. It's been some time since I enjoyed the delightful burn of complementary mustard on crunchy complementary noodles. Waldwick is quieter than some of its neighbors in normal times and given that it was Christmas I didn't know if anything would be open. Wouldn't dare to lace their lo mein. Which is a shame, because sometimes you want a dynamic dinner of all the above: Chinese and sushi and thai but oh my the sharks out of the water here. Broke through the waves but just can't walk on the land - Even though it so would like to. Evolution takes millenniums. And God chose the homosapiens, go complain to the aliens. These fusion factories often pry on the weak families who can't decide between the three, but it's clear as a mist-less day... they whiff hard at the tee. I highly recommend eating in the restaurant - everything is so much better when it's fresh from the kitchen - and the service is excellent! They are very good with gluten free options. Our family ate here over the weekend, on a Saturday afternoon. They have lunch specials on Saturday which is a nice surprise given many restaurants usually only do it for weekdays. The lunch special ends at 3 pm. I got the chicken with string beans. The food is hands down, the best Chinese food I have eaten in northern NJ. The sauces are delicious and the food is also cooked accurately and to perfect consistency. Discovered Red Bowl on Uber Eats and decided to get some takeout for dinner tonight. All in all everything was pretty good and we would order from here again. What we ordered: 1. Unagi Don - the unagi was tasty and portion size was good. 2. Chirashi - fish was fresh and there was a good variety. For a while, Red Bowl was pretty insistent upon using their website to place any orders rather than calling. If I ordered for myself, I would simply make a note requesting that they use gluten-free noodles for my dishes. This was completely ignored and regular noodles were used in my dish instead. I did not realize this was an issue until the next time I ordered and they gave long, stringy noodles in the container. When my boyfriend asked them why they were different, they insisted that they were actually the gluten-free noodles that are always used. It's nice knowing they do not take any food sensitivities into consideration. I would definitely not recommend Red Bowl if you have any special requests or sensitivities. read more

During our recent trip to NJ, we did takeout from this place on my brother's recommendation. He loves this place and orders from here often. I got the following dishes: - Indian pancake: had to order this without the chicken in the curry. The curry was simply delicious. However, the bread was way too oily and overcooked. Had to throw the bread away. Wish it was soft and not dripping in oil. - Red curry with veggies: loved the curry. It was full of flavor and spiced perfectly. - Hibachi noodles: this was ok. We were looking for quality healthier Chinese good that is not heavily sauced or deep fried. We ordered over 100 dollars worth of food, and everything was fresh and delicious. My husband was craving Chinese food so on a whim we decided to try Red Bowl and I am so glad we did! The Spring Rolls and Gyoza were classic and so delicious. He got the Beef with Broccoli and I got the Thai Spicy Basil with Chicken. It was all some of the best Asian Fusion we've had in a while. It's not listed on the menu anymore but they have Thai Iced Tea and it's the best. The waitresses were incredibly kind and attentive. I think we've finally found our go-to for dinner on our trip home to the Hudson Valley from Newark Airport. This has been no small feat, but thanks to all the great Yelp reviews, we found Red Bowl. Note to self and others in a similar post-flight predicament: bring a bottle of wine because they do not have a liquor license. I noticed that the other tables around us all thought ahead, a bunch of happy regulars, always a good sign. They will provide glasses and ice bucket. Not sure of the corkage fee. Red Bowl is one of those places that surprise you, given its humble strip mall exterior. As my guy noted, they did a lot with the interior and made it rather charming. Our hostess smartly sat us in the adjacent room that didn't contain a lively group of little leaguers. Nice! I know a lot of people balk at the idea of ordering sushi in a fusion place like this one, but we took that chance and were very satisfied with the results. I had a Buddha roll with peanuts and avocado, which is delicious. Some of the avocado could have been more ripe, a common thing in sushi restaurants where the knives are so sharp they probably cannot tell if the avocado might need more time. My guy absolutely loved his Godzilla roll. I also had tofu and vegetables, with Szechuan sauce on the side. It's a simple dish but so so good! The vegetables were perfectly steamed and crisp and they were able to also fry the tofu which I prefer to steamed, so that it's more flavorful. I appreciate that there are so many sauce options. Thai spicy basil sauce, I'm coming for you next time. If Red Bowl were in our neighborhood, I have no doubt we're be eating here or ordering in weekly. It's that type of place where you want to be a regular and judging by the room full of happy diners around us, it's a common feeling. Mango Chicken should not be spicy, but regardless, I always say NO SPICE. My meal arrived covered in red pepper flakes. One step inside and my tune changed. A very cute, clean , byob place ! Miso soup was great, not overly salty and full of tofu that wasn't slimy. Spicy Kani salad was perfect. It was a Monday afternoon and I was craving some pineapple rice. Most thai food restaurants are closed on Mondays, so I was pleasantly surprised to find this spot. I ordered the chicken pineapple fried rice togo. It was not the traditional pineapple rice that i was expecting, but it hit the spot. I'm not sure if its traditonal or typical (and my usual thai places just don't) to put raisins and red onions into pineapple fried rice, but it was still tasty. Decided to try this New and Hot recommendation from Yelp. They are having a bit of difficulty with their service, perhaps they are having staffing problems. Hostess friendly, but not very efficient. That being said, I would forgive the wait if the food tickled my taste buds. Tried the Thai side of the menu, and unfortunately it was not up to par. Green curry shrimp was average, the accompanying rice bowl was a bit too al dente. Then to follow, the Pineapple Fried rice was a bit too mushy and lacked flavor. Tried an Eel Avocado roll to sample the sushi side of the menu, this was not bad. Disappointed that this Hot and New restaurant does not live up to my expectations. Instead of correcting mistake you suggested I just eat the wrong order (sushi) instead of chinese food I ordered. I think your sushi is sub par and I would never eat much less order. Red Bowl made no attempt to correct $80 mistake (including Uber tip) So I got screwed out of $80. No way to do business in any trade. Your response is embarrassing. read more
