Wonderful Thai restaurant at Ridgewood. Bold and flavorful taste. You have the kick, the sweet, the savory all in 1. Taro spring rolls are crispy. Dipping sauce is great combination with it. Crispy Duck Ted Curry has a punch. Duck is cooked beautifully. The curry is spicy and packed with flavor. It has tomatoes, lychee and pineapple inside, kinda act like a counter for the spice. Steamed fish chili lime is a must try. Very close to what I had in Asia. Strong citrus taste elevated the dish. Great filet skill. Looks and tastes yummy. The place is clean and modern. Indoor and outdoor seating. It's right next to the train track tho, prob every hour there's a train (really loud). The staff are very nice and friendly. She came back several times to make sure we got all we need. Lovely restaurant. I will definitely want to come back again.

Chorn Thong. Get your head out of the gutter folks. This translates as golden spoon, and eating this brilliant cuisine in this beautiful facility has the feeling of feeding yourself with your own golden spoon. Ridgewood - The nectar of New Jersey - continues to dish out delicacies. I roam the emptily filled roads of the ridge, with the knowledge that the only thing in front of me and a great meal is a door and some folks with reservations. Now imagine the center of the universe (Bergen County) is central star (Ridgewood) has a cuisine that is only perfected in three places in the world open up (Thailand, Hawaii and Bergen). Is this what they mean by stars aligning? No. This is what they mean by stars fusing. I bet you didn't even know they could. Of course you didn't, simpleton. My astronomical mediocrity in astronomy has me educating ya with false but real confidence. This star fusion only created a larger star. It elevated Ridgewood and it elevated Thai cuisine. So get ready to walk on the moon, space Ranger. Ride this shooting star through our stratosphere and into the overwhelming and never ending darkness that surrounds us whether we like it or not. Gravityyyy is working against me. And gravityyyy... wants to bring me down. But it can't. Not now. Not ever. Not here. Small space, but bright and with lovely design. Somehow the interior gives me Greek and Thai royalty combined. In the Mediterranean and Indian Ocean simultaneously. Great utensils. Lovely plates. Tasty water. And most importantly it does its food right. Yummy takes on Thai classics. Their beef brisket is delish. Great fried rice. Great curry. Great spot. Chorn Thong. Ping Pong. Ding Dong. Chien-Ming Wang. Bing Bong. No matter. Knicks in 5. Rizzler in my heart. LB in your heart, in your mind, and in your phone. Have fun and be safe folks. 5 outta 5 for a fact.

This place deserves 5 stars -- and then some. Talk about a true hole‑in‑the‑wall gem. It's an amazing option for Thai food with a twist, and everything on the menu is packed with explosive flavor. These guys really know what they're doing. It's a BYOB spot, and the owners, Mike and his wife, clearly have a real passion for food -- it shows in every dish. My wife and I absolutely love this place. Best of luck to them, and keep up the great work.

So happy I discovered Chorn Thong! We came in on a Saturday and it was packed - we're lucky we got the last available table. The decor is bright and the artwork on the wall is so beautiful, which I eventually found out was hand drawn by the owner, which is so impressive. The service is on another level. Mike is the best and always makes sure we have a good time. The food is so authentic and Nana's recipes are to die for. It's also BYOB so make sure to bring a good wine to pair with the amazing food. The Chicken Satay is a must get. It is plump and juicy, which isn't always the case with this dish at other spots I've been to. The Tod Mun Goong (fried shrimp donut), was one of my favorites of the appetizers, the flavors really burst. As for the entree, the classics were good but let me tell you about the signature dishes! Mike recommended the Braised Beef Short Ribs Kua Curry and Crab Curry and he did not disappoint! The short ribs fell off the bones and the soft shell crab in the curry was so flavorful! They both paired so perfectly with rice. We were so impressed that we came back the following weekend and I'm still craving it as we speak. I'm excited to try everything else on the menu because I know I will not be disappointed. Do yourself a favor and come give Chorn Thong a try!

Pleasant and charming chic restaurant. Decent Thai cuisine in Ridgewood NJ just next to the station. Service is amazing. Quick, friendly and efficient. Must go place.

As soon as I walked in, I could feel the bustling energy from a fully packed restaurant. I came on a Saturday evening as a walk-in so I expected to wait a bit but I was fortunate to be seated pretty quickly. As I sat down, I could tell immediately that the owners had a great sense of aesthetic design through the selection of their tableware and utensils and overall design of the interior. The light fixtures, mural and even the bathroom had an intentional curated look and feel. And this design-sense carried through to both the presentation of the dishes as well as the ingredients and flavors. I ordered the crispy tofu and fried-shrimp donut for my starters and shrimp Pad Thai and Crab fried rice for my mains. There was a slight mixup with the Shrimp Pad Thai and I got crispy pork belly instead of the shrimp and holy smokes, it was a welcome mix-up because it was fantastic. The thing that stood out to me most was how springy and fresh tasting the noodles were. The quality of the noodles transported me back to Thailand. The crab fried rice which came shortly after the Pad Thai - WOW. It was the star of the show for me; it was so incredibly tasty. The rice was flavorful, the egg was prepared so fluffy and tender, and the crab meat cooked perfectly. Incredible dish. Throughout the night, my table was served by, who I would later find out, the owners Mike and his wife Nana. They were incredibly kind, accommodating and Mike was so friendly and had a great sense of humor. Toward the evening, I expressed to him how fresh and springy the noodles were and he explained how he picks up fresh noodles and fish every morning. This commitment to quality is what sets restaurants like this apart. Excellent job.

Once you sit down you scan a QR Code to order your food and drinks. I was pretty hungry that day so we ended up ordering a ton of food. The drinks were pretty good and they were served in Le Creuset mugs. Not the biggest deal, but I can appreciate some nice drinkware. The bowl of Kimchi Fried rice came out first. It was a generous portion and the rice was cooked well, but I feel like it could've used some more kimchi. The eggs on top were cooked perfectly and added good texture to the dish. The next dish to come out was the HK French toast. The bread was nice and fluffy which paired well with a nice generous drizzle of condensed milk. I enjoyed this a lot. We also ordered scallion pancake, pork barbecue, and bossam baos. These were ok, I would probably pass on a return visit. I felt like the meat in the baos was a little tough though they did have decent flavor. The last entree was the smoked salmon and avocado croissant; I really enjoyed this. It had a generous helping of smoked salmon and avocado as well. The saltiness of the salmon paired well with the creamy and fatty avocado. The croissant was also nice and flaky. It was also served with a house salad which had a nice drizzle of dressing on it too. For dessert we ordered a Black Sesame Souffle Pancake. This was SO good. A few months ago I visited a place in Princeton that specialized in these Japanese-style pancakes and Tasty Junction's version was so much more enjoyable. I loved that it was served with a healthy scoop of ice cream. The pancake was airy and had a bounce to it. Each bite was so good and made even better with the ice cream. I'd definitely come back just for the pancakes. All in all Tasty Junction is a great spot tucked away in Glen Rock

Update to my earlier review from 2024…read more We dined in for the first time on a spring Friday evening at around 6 PM and we were pretty much were the only ones dining inside for a majority of our meal. However, they were plenty busy with takeout orders. Service was quick as the waiter took our order down and our food was out within MINUTES! I ordered the Shoyu Ramen, which was a pretty good ramen considering they weren't a restaurant that specialized in ramen. The ramen was very tasty and like any other I've ordered from legit ramen restaurants. My wife ordered a custom poke bowl, which we've ordered many times before for pickup. The bowl was MASSSIVE and seemingly much bigger than what they typically give for takeout orders, although their takeout poke bowls are very generous too. For our kids, we ordered the House Special Fried Rice, which came with eggs and Chinese sausage. It was a solid fried rice and we were quite surprised it came with Chinese sausage because it's an ingredient we rarely see used for fried rice entrees at restaurants. Overall, our dining experience here was good and we loved that it was nice and quiet. It never got super busy, but a few parties did come in after us. The bread and butter of their business is definitely takeout though.

I asked if I could use the bathroom, and the lady looked me up and down. Her eyes locked on my rainbow necklace, and she said "you can go across the street." I thought she had to kidding, but as I looked at her I saw an expression that held mild disgust for me on her face. "Public restroom across the street" ( which there isn't...she was directing me to the stop and shop across the street, another business). I couldn't help but understand and feel what she was saying as: We don't want people like you here. Go where you belong. Your average, run of the mill Japanese/sushi restaurant…read more We came by on a hot Friday evening at around 6 PM and, unlike some of the more popular restaurants in Ridgewood, this restaurant was pretty much empty when we walked in. However, it did get pretty busy around 7 PM, but there were still available seats. For a restaurant in this area, it was pretty big with quite a few tables inside. The menu was very typical of any local neighborhood Japanese restaurant - Japanese soups and salads, appetizers, entrees like teriyaki dishes, noodles/udons, rice entrees and lots of different sushi and sushi rolls. Nothing on the menu will blow you away or be surprising, but it'll satisfy your Japanese food craving if that's what you're seeking. Our family ordered Edamame and Fried Gyoza to start and both were good. The Gyoza was actually better than I anticipated, arriving at our table hot and crispy. For entrees, we ordered our kids the Salmon Teriyaki, which was solid. There was a lot of teriyaki sauce on the salmon and the salmon was not overly cooked or dry, so that was a plus. I ordered 3 regular sushi rolls - Spicy Crab, Spicy Yellowtail and Spicy Salmon - and all were good and pretty much what I expected. My wife ordered the Sushi Regular, which came with 8 pieces of sushi and a California Roll. Once again, all good. Nothing that was off about any of it. We also ordered a Nabeyaki Udon, but I didn't get to try any of it, however, our kids ate a lot of it, which was a good sign that it was good. Like I said, there was nothing that was bad here and everything was good, but nothing is spectacular either. If you're just seeking Japanese food/sushi and need to get your fix on, the food at Kumo will hit that spot.
