My girlfriend and I visited Tasty Junction for an early dinner one Saturday. They weren't too busy so it was easy to find a table for 2. Once you sit down you scan a QR Code to order your food and drinks. I was pretty hungry that day so we ended up ordering a ton of food. The drinks were pretty good and they were served in Le Creuset mugs. Not the biggest deal, but I can appreciate some nice drinkware. The bowl of Kimchi Fried rice came out first. It was a generous portion and the rice was cooked well, but I feel like it could've used some more kimchi. The eggs on top were cooked perfectly and added good texture to the dish. The next dish to come out was the HK French toast. The bread was nice and fluffy which paired well with a nice generous drizzle of condensed milk. I enjoyed this a lot. We also ordered scallion pancake, pork barbecue, and bossam baos. These were ok, I would probably pass on a return visit. I felt like the meat in the baos was a little tough though they did have decent flavor. The last entree was the smoked salmon and avocado croissant; I really enjoyed this. It had a generous helping of smoked salmon and avocado as well. The saltiness of the salmon paired well with the creamy and fatty avocado. The croissant was also nice and flaky. It was also served with a house salad which had a nice drizzle of dressing on it too. For dessert we ordered a Black Sesame Souffle Pancake. This was SO good. A few months ago I visited a place in Princeton that specialized in these Japanese-style pancakes and Tasty Junction's version was so much more enjoyable. I loved that it was served with a healthy scoop of ice cream. The pancake was airy and had a bounce to it. Each bite was so good and made even better with the ice cream. This is the only place I know of in North New Jersey that serves Japanese soufflé pancakes, which already makes it worth checking out. One thing I really liked is how customizable the menu is. You can choose different creams and ice cream flavors on top - they have a great variety, including strawberry, chocolate, vanilla, taro, ube, and more. The service was great. Everyone was very kind and welcoming, and they let us know that the Japanese soufflé pancakes take about 15 minutes to prepare, which I was completely fine with since they're made fresh. The ambiance is chill and quiet. The café is tucked away on the side of the street - I actually missed it the first time and had to circle back. We were lucky to find street parking right in front, though there aren't many spots available. As for the pancakes themselves, I thought they were just okay. There's bound to be something there for everyone to enjoy. We've visited on many occasion and we always get the beef jian bian, beef bao, and potstickers. We've gotten the lumpia Shanghai, but I find that a bit too salty and over fried. My kids love the soufflé pancakes and shaved ice. The soufflé pancakes are fluffy and delicious. I really like the concept of this place. It's essentially like a mini food court where you can order from several different mini "restaurants". There is a wide variety of what you can get from souffle pancakes to bulgogi to dumplings. We started out with some pork belly bao which was definitely the highlight of the meal; great flavors! We also ordered the bulgogi and some chicken + corn potstickers but those two fell a bit short for me. I felt the bulgogi was way too oily and the beef too chewy while the potstickers lacked flavor. It was mostly onions and carrots. I wouldn't order this again. I would give the beef bulgogi 1 star. The fluffy pancake was good. I'm glad I tried it, but I wouldn't order it again. I'm not a big pancake person, but this was good. Ube Latte was delicious, 5 stars for the drink. It comes out layered and has a nice color after we stirred. You have to like a place that has combo take-home dinners called She Doesn't Care and No Work Talk. I wasn't sure what to get on my two visits here, it's not one of those places that has a neon sign shouting "Try Our Famous Ham Sandwich!" The workers did a great of explaining what's popular while evaluating my own preferences. The menu veers into Vietnamese, Japanese and Filipino offerings but I got the sense that I should try the Korean dishes and also consider dumplings. Next we got the BEC jian bing. It was honestly kind of bland but not bad. The kimchi dumplings were my favorite. Couldve been crispier but I enjoyed the flavors and would order again. Finally got my chance to try the Japanese soufflé pancakes today and they did not disappoint. Stopped by for brunch and tried the bulgogi dumplings and kimchi pork potstickers, as well as their cloud pancakes. All the food was delicious and so was their coffee. I was sad I couldn't try more of their menu options but I will definitely come back again. We arrived right at opening on Sunday 10:30am. By 11am, the cafe was already filling up. I was so confused by what this place was based on the information that I could find online. Basically, this is a small food court, consisting of three separate stores - Elyssia's Kitchen, Cloud Cake, and Cafe Pikunikku. We tried Elyssia's Kitchen and Cloud Cake. There is one counter where you order and it is at Elyssia's Kitchen. But you can order from the other two restaurants at that counter. There are self-serve utensils and additional plates at the tables. There is a water station at Cafe Pikunikku. I honestly did not even know about this water station until the end of our meal. Elyssia's kitchen is a dumpling and noodle place. We ordered the jian bing which was, disappointingly, not a jian bing. It was a scallion pancake with egg and either pork or beef. We had wontons which tasted pretty standard. We also had dumplings which were over-seasoned with what tasted like five spice, maybe? Finally, we ordered a large char siu fried rice which turned out to be a way larger fried rice than we knew what to do with. Tasted fine though. Cloud Cake offers souffle pancakes. We ordered a build-your-own sweet souffle pancake with red bean, mochi, and mango ice cream. The souffle pancake itself was delicious - nice and fluffy. But the build-your-own components - the red bean, mochi and mango ice cream - were in separate little cups and it all seemed somewhat disjointed and did not seem to go with the pancake. I think the way I should have approached the meal was just to order a savory bacon egg and cheese souffle pancake rather than bothering with Elyssia's kitchen. read more

So I read the reviews and was excited to take my daughters as one of them was craving bao buns. We were severely disappointed. Bossam Bao buns- 1 slice of very thin pork belly which was deep fried(?) rendering it dry and tasteless. Bossam should be tender and juicy. I'm also used to a pillowy bun, but theirs were dense. Shrimp wonton noodle soup- the wontons were plentiful for the serving, but the broth was watery. Bland. Pork and chive potstickers - again, super bland. Along with chive I believe they added...cilantro? I have an aversion to cilantro and would not have ordered if I had known. They skimped on the pork and of note, not ground up like all other dumplings I've had in my life. Pan fried bao - it came lukewarm (we dined in). Again, the seasoning is just not there and barely any filling. The only saving grace was the lumpia. No problems at all with that. My suggestion to the owners would be to reevaluate the seasonings as most of what we had were bland. Also, be a little more generous with fillings to the point of being adequate. I'm afraid we won't be patronizing this eatery again. read more
