There was a friendly server and the owner/chef also came out. He let us know he's been there for 6 years. I would have tried them sooner, but I'm no longer in my Thai food phase. There was a time when I used to have Thai food about once a week. I was quite impressed with the freshness of the food and what you get for $15. I thought the portions were right there, but if you need more food, an appetizer might be a good addition. We were there around 12:30 and were the only ones there, but people started slowly coming in and by 1:15 most of the tables got filled. One weird thing was that they use disposable cups for water. Perhaps it's a more of a to-go place or not enough man power to wash cups? My friend and I shared the chicken pad khee mao and chicken with spicy basil sauce. Each dish comes with a spring roll, but somehow no dipping sauce! However, if you ask, they have them in little to-go cups. My friend can't handle too much spice so we went with regular spicy, which to me wasn't spicy at all. The vegetables were crunchy and I liked that the noodle still had a good chew and not gummy. Basil sauce was right on the edge of being salty but with rice, it was okay. The food was flavorful, not greasy, and I'm sure would have tasted way better with more heat. The lunch options are pretty basic, but the full menu has a lot more interesting dishes, and based on the taste of the lunch dishes, I plan on trying different dishes in the near future if I'm in the mood for Thai.

I could tell they used a torch to melt the cheese on top of the pad thai. The portions are quite geneous for the original $24-27 price-range. The pork belly? Crispy and juicy. Even the accompanying sweet chili sauce couldn't mask that tough, rubbery texture. Entrees fared just a little better. My pad see ew was a little bland but perked up with some chili sauce dribbled over the plate by the spoonful. I chose beef as my protein and while there weren't a ton of beef pieces, the few I had were wonderfully tender. Service was friendly and lovely. Our server (who I also assume is the owner) welcomed us warmly and was quick to check on us. I was endeared by the owner's young daughter who came by to help and made sure all our water glasses stayed filled. I know we're riding the giant inflation wave, but the serving size felt a little paltry for the prices. Even after an appetizer and two entrees, we both had enough stomach space after dinner to fill up with nuggets at a nearby fast food restaurant.

The restaurant's decor was lacking in that the booths on the right side of the place had ripped upholstery and the seating on the left side was in better condition, but mismatched. Despite the furniture, the woman running the front of the house was very sweet, and the food was great! We started with the Curry Puff appetizer. The 3 large dumplings had been completely stuffed with a sweet chicken curry, while the fried, flaky exterior was a nice golden brown color and not at all greasy. My Pad See Ew with Chicken was very flavorful and perfectly cooked, though it could have used a tad more sauce. My companion felt the same about his Drunken Noodles, which he similarly scarfed up, though he would have preferred more spice. I have now tried several Thai restaurants in Bergen County and many of them have fallen short on delivering the flavorful impact I would expect from the cuisine. We recently visited again and were happy to see that they have now added halal chicken and beef…read more We asked specifically about cross-contamination because pork is still on the menu. The staff was very helpful and assured us that they would have the chef use separate utensils and a clean, separate wok for our meal. We ordered the Pad See Ew, and it was absolutely perfect -- delicious, well prepared, and easily comparable in quality to some of the best Thai restaurants we have tried. The main concern is that the fryer is still shared with pork products, so fried items cannot really be considered halal due to possible contamination with pork fat. We really appreciate the effort they are making to accommodate halal customers, but having pork on the menu and shared equipment is still a concern. A great example is Top Thai in NYC, which offers similarly excellent Thai food while operating with a fully halal menu. They have built a very strong following, showing that going fully halal does not mean compromising on quality or business potential. Hopefully this restaurant will eventually consider removing pork completely and becoming fully halal as well. The food quality is already there, and considering the surrounding market and demand for good halal food, I believe it could substantially expand their customer base.
