    Thai Spring Rolls
    Chris E.

Really, REALLY good Thai food, BUTTTTTTT they've got some work to do on their service. We made a 6pm reservation over the phone for our family of 4 for a relatively low-key winter Friday evening. When we arrived, the restaurant was decently busy, but not at capacity. However, they did turn away some folks because all of the tables were apparently reserved, so, the advice of the day is to MAKE A RESERVATION on weekend evenings. They had our table ready for us, including the high chair we requested for our daughter, so that was a plus. UNFORTUNATELY, that was the pinnacle of the service for the evening. The menu was pretty much made up of your typical Thai faves, comprising of Thai-inspired noodles, rice entrees, curries, stir-fried entrees, fish dishes, soups and various meat specials. Nothing will surprise the savvy Thai food aficionado, but there is plenty to satisfy your heart and stomach. Since it was our 1st time dining here, we ordered a little bit of everything, except a rice dish. We got the Thai Iced Tea, Tom Yum Koong Soup, Thai Spring Rolls, Duck Salad, Shrimp Pad Thai and Chicken Pad See Ew. First, the good ol' Thai Iced Tea. A rare loser for the night. It needed to be a lot colder and tasted a bit watered down. Far from the best Thai Iced Tea I ever had. Second, the soup - FANTASTIC. Simple, yet so flavorful. There were 3 pieces of shrimp in the soup and a bunch of sliced mushrooms, but the flavors really hit you when you drank it. There was a bit of sourness, but not overwhelming. I wasn't too fond of us ordering this at first, but after trying it, I'd say it's almost a must get! As for the Thai Spring Rolls, they came out hot and crispy. It didn't blow me away, but it was solid. Next, the Duck Salad. ANOTHER major winner here. The boneless strips of duck were scattered throughout this delicious salad, which included cashews, tomatoes, scallions, pineapple chunks, onions, cilantro, apple and lettuce tossed together in lime juice. All of the juice pretty much sat at the bottom of the salad, so a good mixing needed to be done once it arrived at the table, but it was another great dish. Finally, our Shrimp Pad Thai and Chicken Pad See Ew arrived. And, yes, I said FINALLY, because it took approximately 40 minutes! YES, 40 MINUTES for the Pad Thai and Pad See Ew to hit our tables after we had ordered. I understand that they were relatively busy, with diners inside and takeout orders, but the restaurant wasn't at full capacity, so the wait for these 2 entrees was excessive. The soup and Duck Salad came out pretty quickly, but the noodles took another 25 minutes. I get 10-15, but 25 minutes passing was way too long between dishes. Anyhow, the Pad Thai and Pad See Ew were EXCELLLLENT though. They were piping hot and super fresh and I absolutely loved them both. They both had the perfect amount of moisture where it wasn't too slimy (you know what I mean), yet wasn't too dry either. I thoroughly enjoyed them. Unfortunately, as great as the food was, we felt the service was subpar throughout the evening. Besides the fact that we had to wait for what felt like an eternity for our food, the waiter/waitresses didn't pay much attention to us and we couldn't help but feel like we were ignored all evening. Not sure why, but internally, I felt something was definitely off, like we were getting the cold shoulder. When our order was taken, there wasn't much enthusiasm. Not one time were we visited to see how things were and we were not offered refills on water or extra napkins or anything for that matter. When the bill was dropped off at our table, the waitress thanked us, but, her head was turned the other way??? I get it was busy, but a thank you with some eye contact would have been nice??? And then, when we left, the waitresses didn't say goodbye or thank you after they had JUST enthusiatically done that to a table of four 2 minutes prior. Call me crazy, but I took receipts for those no-nos. How can you scream "goodbye" and "thank you" to patrons that just left, but yet go silent when we leave? We really wanted to love every aspect of this little restaurant, but one thing I've always preached when patronizing a restaurant is that I don't care how good the food is, if the service is not up to snuff or passable, then nothing else matters. YES, the food was very good here. I won't knock that at all. BUT, personally, we think the service needs an upgrade. And, if the waiter/waitresses didn't realize they were ignoring us throughout the evening, that's another problem as well then. Either way, THERE IS room for improvement IMO.

Thai restaurants are one of the fastest-growing dining segments in northern New Jersey. And with more places specializing in regional cuisines, the Thai scene has never been more exciting. Located in Hasbrouck Heights, I've eaten several times at Tom Yum Koong off of Boulevard. The reservation was easily made by calling the restaurant for 5 persons at 6:30 pm this Saturday. Upon arrival, my partner, our friends and I were greeted by the staff and were seated promptly after 6 years as a group. The menu offers an exotic array of dishes, from soups to salads to fish to curries, with familiar Thai cuisine known for its balance of five flavor profiles--hot, sour, sweet, salty, and bitter (sometimes). As a starter, we decided on the Beef Satay and Poa Pia (Thai spring rolls). As the main entrée, we opted for Ped Makham (sliced, boneless, crispy duck topped with tamarind sauce, scallions, and cilantro), Grilled Chicken Breast marinated in Thai spices, Pad Mix Vegetable in garlic soy sauce, and Red Curry with coconut milk, bell peppers, green chili, and eggplants. All served with white rice. We even saved room for some desserts and got Fried Vanilla Ice Cream and Fried Green Tea Ice Cream. The food arrived at our table hot, consistently fresh, perfect, nicely presented, delicious, and authentic. Service is always wonderful, and we liked how fast the food was served. We never felt rushed, and I got a chance to exchange words with the owner, Ann. This is a perfect place to get your Thai food fix, and it's BYOB, which we can recommend.

I forgot the name of this soup but it's a coconuty broth chicken soup - delicious!

My boyfriend and I stopped here after another place was closed that we've been trying to go to. I'm so glad the other restaurant was closed or I'd probably never have this Thai restaurant on my radar. We were seated right away - this place fills up quick. Service was excellent and the interior is beautifully decorated. We started with the papaya salad and some sort of coconut broth, chicken soup. Both were absolutely delicious, the papaya salad was super flavorful, and the soup was unlike anything I've tasted before. I've been trying to give new Thai soups a chance and this is a winner. My boyfriend got a beef ginger stirfry and I got their pad Thai to try. Both were really great. My pad Thai came with huge chunks of delicious tofu. The flavors were on point all around. Will definitely be back here to try more things.

Wonderful Thai food in the area. Great flavor. A tap too sweet for my taste. Duck has crispy skin and tender inside (highly recommend). My parents love the pineapple fried rice. Service is great. Not sure if she is the owner. Very friendly and attentive. Dinner time you will prob need reservations due to limited tables. Street parking.

Went for a Saturday lunch, right when they opened at noon. Lovely restaurant, with tables to hold about 20-30 guests, lots of nice Thai arts and crafts. The menu has a good variety of Thai dishes and drinks. We started with some amazing appetizers, mussels and chicken satay were good, Tom yum Koong soup was incredible. Probably the best tom yum soup I had in the longest time. Such good mixture of the spice and citrus, with perfectly cooked shrimp. For entree we got the panang curry, duck curry and pineapple fried rice with squid. All were beautiful dishes. All tasted so good with the Thai curry, spice and vegetables. Duck curry is really recommended, for the tenderness of the meat mixed with the sauce. Not to mention all these items came out of kitchen in lightning speed. Our server was really nice. She said to reserve on weekends if you plan to come for dinner, since it gets super busy.

I can't believe I waited this long to try this place! First, this a BYOB, which I love when I want to enjoy a bottle of wine I know I like. It's very small inside, but has dim lighting and decorated nicely. Def call ahead to make a reservation or ask if there is a wait time. It's family run and the staff is very attentive. The menu has variety so I'm sure anyone can find something they would like even if they are trying Thai food for the first time. they are able to adjust the heat in the curry dishes, which was nice, It was still quite spicy, but absolutely delicious. I had the chef special grilled chicken with Thai rice and peanut sauce on the side, it was absolutely delicious. The chicken was tender, The sauces were perfect. For an appetizer, We shared the chicken dumplings, which were also very good. We took dessert to go, the mango sticky rice, which we really enjoyed later on in the evening, we will definitely go back again. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Great value lunch menu! A soup, salad, and entree for less than $20. They are an authentic Thai-restaurant, where you can taste a strong sense of their spices and wok-fried aroma. When you walk in, you're right in the cozy dining room. Host will greet you and serve you well. All friendly people.

12/13/23 We've been here many many times, but this is my 1st time reviewing. Everything we've ever order is delicious! Service is always wonderful! Cute little corner restaurant. Steamed Dumplings - this is so flavorful. Looks like a mess though, it looks like the dumpling fell apart when plating. lol But who cares with the flavor! YUM! Kang Ped Ped Yang (Curry Duck) - this was delicious! I was weary about the pineapple because I'm not a fan of fruits in my entrees, but this worked and it enhanced the duck. YUM! Grilled Pork Chop - The flavor was amazing! I actually wished there was more of the sauce. Mango Iced Tea - needs more mango flavor Pineapple soda - was too sweet

Not bad if you're in a pinch and craving Thai food. We ordered two lunch specials for a pick up on a Tuesday at around 12ish. We had the chicken pad Thai and chicken fried rice. They were bad but just nothing amazing. The lunch special comes with a soup and a salad. Another time, we ordered for pick up for dinner on a Sunday night. I had the pad see euw (again not bad), and hubby had some curry, which was kind of watery. We also did the beef skewers and it was a bit chewy. It seems that they're noodle dishes are the safest bets. I would probably order again just out of convenience but this will likely not be my go-to Thai place.

This small eatery is always awesome. Friendly service, and food comes out hot, fresh and fast. BYOB. They're happy to adjust a dish if possible- I had their tofu soup veganized and it was amazing. I highly recommend it (the base is normally chicken broth). One of my favorite restaurants, and it's consistently great every single time. Highly recommend if you're in the area and want some top-notch Thai food!!

Some of the best Thai food! The curry noodle with tofu was amazing, basically a khao soi which is my favorite dish and this was the second best I've ever had. We also had the pad Thai and Thai tea which were both delicious. Can't wait to be back!

Not so good - curry puffs were tasteless, fried calamari were meh. Water they serve is straight out of tap and I doubt it's even filtered as it had smell and taste that didn't have any hint of filtration. We looked at each other and said, "Let's give it a try for lunch." We're true foodies, never afraid to explore a menu, so of course we ordered a variety of dishes and we were blown away. When we first walked in, we were warmly greeted by the owner, and her staff was incredibly sweet. Their customer service made us feel instantly at home. Since it was lunchtime, we ordered from both the lunch specials and the regular menu. Before the food arrived, we asked the owner what style of Thai cooking they specialize in. She explained that their recipes come from the middle region of Thailand, near Chonburi. Central Thai cuisine is known for its beautiful balance of flavors sweet, salty, spicy, and tangy all working together in harmony. The dishes often have aromatic herbs, rich coconut-based sauces, fresh vegetables, and layered spices, creating food that feels both comforting and vibrant. After tasting everything, we understood exactly what she meant. The flavors were bold yet balanced, fragrant without being overwhelming, and incredibly satisfying. Here's what we enjoyed: Lunch Specials * Pad Khee Mao (Drunken Noodles) * Spicy Basil Sauce * Pad Thai Regular Menu * Tom Yum Goong * Masaman Curry Dessert * Banana Sticky Rice Drink * Thai Iced Tea Every single dish--not just one--was exceptional. The balance of flavors from the central Thai style truly shines through: the brightness of the herbs, the warmth of the spices, the creaminess of the curries, and the freshness of the vegetables. You can taste the care and tradition in every bite. This restaurant deserves to be known and celebrated, and I'm sharing photos and videos so you can see exactly why. We even asked if we could meet Chef Patrick to thank him personally, and he kindly came out to greet us. It was such a thoughtful moment and made the experience even more special.
