Alright. I've been eating from Ho Mei for years. I love Ho Mei. At some point, management changed, but I still continued eating from them. Tonight I ordered late. Sesame Chicken Combination Platter white rice w/o veggies Hot Sauce $0.50 Mustard Sauce $0.50 The food that arrived was: Sesame chicken combo w/ brown rice w/ veggies Mustard sauce Duck sauce Of course, I was a little disappointed, since my requests were either not met/not read. Even so, default rice is usually fried rice, not brown? The icing on the cake was the fly that had been fried onto a piece of my chicken. I could not eat the meal and grubhub was kind enough to compensate me. Sad to lose a place I've ordered from for so long.

Never ordering from here again. Upon almost finishing my plate, this is what I discovered.

Bad service. Told me nothing could be added to the fried rice because it comes prepackaged. That isn't enticing so I canceled the order

Sofia's is absolutely among those quality restaurants that should be considered the pride and lifeblood of Hasbrouck Heights. Easily one of the nicest and most family oriented Greek spots I've been to in recent memory. I strongly encourage anyone in the area to give it a shot and bring a group to dine in. The only negative I'd say is that the price can be a little over the top for some of the meal items, however, given the ambiance, the service, the quality and the experiences I've had there, it's a fair price. Bravo

From cooking to salad dressings, Greek olive oil made from lemon, basil, and oregano is their liquid gold. Located on a busy Boulevard in the heart of Hasbrouck Heights, I finally got the opportunity to stop in at this BYOB family-owned/operated establishment. Upon entering for lunch after 4 years, Sofia's Mediterranean Grill, named after the owner's mom, I was greeted by the staff. I got a booth, immediately knowing how they get crowded. The inside evoked a cozy and warm vibe with Greek music playing throughout. Outdoor dining is available, weather permitting. Their menu features an array of traditional Mediterranean dishes, offering a variety of soups, appetizers, salads, sandwiches, meats from the grill, seafood cooked various ways, and entrees cooked from the oven. I decided on the Greek salad with grilled chicken. The food was authentic, fresh using the finest ingredients, delicious, and prepared simply, which is exactly what I was looking for. The portion was healthy. The service is always friendly and welcoming. I got to connect with the owner, Nick, a fellow Astorian, to catch up about the old neighborhood. The price was reasonable. If one's craving the vibrant flavors of the Mediterranean, then look no further. One doesn't need to book a flight to Greece to enjoy authentic meals.

I was driving home and this place was closest to the one I usually frequent. When I came to pick up the food, I was handed a check with a charge that horrified me. Not only am I paying credit card charges..now, but the now added a $2 packing fee. I was shocked, are we now supposed to bring our own containers and maybe pack the food ourselves???? This was a take out order, directly through the restaurant, no third parties and I came to pick it up myself. The order was for over $120 and to be charged a packing fee is absurd. Not sure what management was thinking, but needless to say, NOT CUSTOMER FRIENDLY. ...WILL NOT BE ORDERING AGAIN

When I told my mom where we were going her reaction- "omg that place is still around?!? It use to be excellent back in the day!" Well I am happy to report this place is just as good today as it was during my mother's heyday. I decided to get a few oysters and clams to start off with and everything was just so fresh. As an entree the Seafood in a spicy red sauce was easily one of the best I have had in a very long time. There was a generous amount of seafood within the dish, the sauce I swear I could just drink it out of a cup and the pasta was cooked perfectly. My husband got the bbq ribs which I didn't try but you could see how they just slid right off the bone and he couldn't stop talking about how good they were. We ended our meal with some strong espresso. I enjoyed how it is a very casual atmosphere with a nice bar area that had a few TVs to watch some sports games. No need to dress to impress. The service was a little bit on the slower side but the waitress was very nice. The man who brought out my oysters, I asked him which were the east coast and which where in the west coast oysters, along with asking him where in the west coast my oysters were from and he couldn't tell me. I just think a place should just know these things is they are selling them. Nonetheless we still really enjoyed ourselves and can't wait to return.

The Jersey Shore restaurants will always have an advantage when it comes to seafood because of location. North Jersey offers a diverse, high-quality seafood scene, ranging from upscale Mediterranean-style fish markets to casual, beloved neighborhood spots. Situated less than 2.5 miles from MetLife Stadium, Biggie's has been a neighborhood institution located off of Route 17 South in Carlstadt and is best known for its clams-on-the-half-shell and wide selection of beers on tap. My partner, our friends, and I have been to this family-owned establishment numerous times and decided to have dinner last night. The reservation was easily made via OpenTable. Upon entering this casual vibe, we were greeted by the host. There is a lively sports bar side full of TVs and a dining room side, where we got a booth immediately by the window. Their menu has a wide array of options, rivaled only by the countless photographs and mementos that fill nearly every inch of wall space. There are many sandwiches, a half-dozen salads, thin-crust pizzas, and a substantial range of pastas. For starters, we decided on two dozen East Coast oysters on a half shell and Steamed Mussels with white wine butter broth. A side of Italian bread was brought for dipping. As a main meal, we opted for the Turkey Chili, Baby Back Ribs, Fried Calamari, Caesar salad, and Fries. The food was excellent and delicious, using the freshest ingredients. The portions were healthy. The staff went out of their way to make one feel welcome, creating a friendly and comfortable atmosphere. Our server was Hadiyah. The price was reasonable. The Garden State's seafood scene is a testament to the state's rich maritime heritage, offering something for every palate, whether one's a regular or a first-timer. This is why people keep coming back week after week.

They provide a large selection of fresh seafood, including those that are relatively hard to find in other stores. Unfortunately, there is no bakery or prepared food on site like other Asian markets. I especially enjoy browsing the household goods and cookware sections, and the cool pottery and flatware. On a recent visit, the most memorable discovery wasn't on any shelf: a remarkably enterprising 12yo girl was hawking Shanghai-style shepherd's purse buns alongside her father, and they were absolutely the real deal! I don't remember the brand, and there's no guarantee they'll be back, but if you spot the duo, don't walk past without buying some. The restaurant has its own small lot and is located right on Route 17.You have to the option of doing hot pot or crab boil. My husband and I didn't know this and we're in the mood for hotpot this day. They have a rotator belt that moves along the ingredients for your hotpot, like revolving sushi, but we sat at a table away from it. The server just brought us our ingredients, which we didn't mind. We chose mushroom broth, wagyu, bok choy, enoki mushrooms and rice cakes as our ingredients for our hot pot. We wanted milk tea and boba but we were told they ran out of ice. When I asked for it again, because our server made it seem like they were getting more, she returned to let me know there was no boba. This was the only bummer of the night because everything else was amazing! But that's okay - we just went to a boba place afterwards for dessert - (shout out Roll Thai'd on Park Ave, Rutherford!) The place is clean and has some unique features. There are neon signs, such as the hotpot guide giving you directions on how long to cook the meat and veggies as well as a prayer corner, which you rarely see and I thought was very inclusive! We will definitely return to try the seafood! Thank you for a successful and delicious date night!
