We ordered take out delivery and I must compliment them because they were fast. The food was fresh and hot. I skipped the dumplings because I found them bland on my previous order. My son wanted to try them again & he also found them very bland. We also ordered fried wonton and those also should.be skipped. Their egg rolls were nice. The beef lomein my son ordered was light on the beef but otherwise it was okay. My Thai Green Curry chicken combo actually wasn't what was delivered. They gave me a chinese curry chicken which was tasty but light on the chicken. It was served with a very nice lightly fried rice. This place seems to be better than the other chinese places in my area since our favorite chinrse place in Woodridge closed. read more

I've ordered for pick-up here numerous times since first trying this place out, and it's become my go-to in the neighborhood, because it's convenient. Maybe they switched chefs or recipes because I actually like the hot and sour soup now. Sometimes if I have a craving, I'll even just order a quart of it. I have since tried the general tso's chicken (nice and saucy, but there are only 3 tiny pieces of broccoli), beef chow fun (pretty decent noodles for a Chinese takeout place), and fried chicken wings (fried perfectly). So far, I don't think I've had anything that's been terrible. My go-to is still the chicken and garlic sauce, but now I feel more comfortable with trying other menu items. I think the Chefs changed again, as the last 2 times we ordered, the flavor and quality wasn't there. Noodles were over cooked, dishes were either too salty or too bland and portions have been up and down... no consistency in food quality. Unfortunate as this has been our go to. Dumpling was our SPOT for years to the point that when we moved about 25 minuted north we would drive down once a month to pick up our favorites.... It's been a few months and disappointing would be the nicest word I could use. Wonton soup: wontons entirely undercooked and odd texture inside. Broth flavorless. Steamed dumplings were inedible, such thick dough, weird smell. Unappetizing. Shrimp roll: so oil laden and soggy it was dripping Egg rolls: SURPRISE not egg rolls we've ever had form them before, vegetable rolls marked on the bag. General tso combos, the chicken was fine but bland, like truly bland. The fried rice was awful, entirely flavorless the pork was tough and the rice itself was undercooked to the point it was crunchy. Needless to say...we could have spent 6 bucks at Trader Joe's and had orange chicken and fried rice that would have been leaps and bounds better. We won't be back :-( read more

We ordered chicken and broccoli, steamed dumplings, chicken lo mein, shrimp shumai & beef on a stick. The lo mein was very good. This was the only place I've seen put mushrooms in it. I'm a fan of mushrooms, so it was a good surprise for me. Shrimp shumai was very good. The only thing I did not like was the dumplings. They were very small and didn't taste good. Update- a week later we ordered again, some of which were the same items, and everything tasted like it was from a different place. They were not good. Do they have different cooks on Friday and Saturday? That could be my only though. The food was poor the second time around. Oh- and both times I had a coupon from their site for free items for reaching a certain minimum, they forgot to bring the items. I guess both times were intentional and it wasn't a mistake. read more

UPDATE: the owner came to my house at 9:00 pm screaming about the canceled credit card. Thankfully my husband was home and spoke to the overly enraged man while I calmed my children down who overheard the incident. Smh Rude and dismissive- We ordered from Dumplings last night (a large order- $98.00 worth). This is not the first time ordering from this Location, however this is the second incident in a row that we've had. I'm not sure if this is under new management however the food has definitely taken a turn for the worse. Last nights meals were not only in correct but upon eating the general chows chicken and pork fried rice combination we had ordered, my mom bit into a bolt that was in her rice. (Please see photo attached) I immediately called the restaurant back and requested to speak to a manager only to find a woman at the other end claiming to be the manager. I began to tell her what we had found in our food and the things that were wrong to say she became defensive is an understatement. It was clear this conversation was not going well, she said she had asked her chef about the incorrect meals and he stated everything was correct; even though I was staring out our incorrect food. As opposed to going back and forth with her on the phone I ended the conversation and headed to Dumplings. When I got there it was apparent she know exactly who I was and would not even make eye contact after seeing the incorrect meal and bolt in the food. Instead a male came to the window and claimed to be the manager. He then began to tell me that he could refund me the two meals ($18) and have me on my way or remake the two meals that I brought back. This is absolutely unacceptable considering he began to claim the bolt that was found in my mom's rice indeed came from a meat grinder. How disgusting! This is definitely poor management and disgusting. We will not be ordering from this location and encourage others not to order either... What a shame this was our go to Chinese food. read more

Finally, a Chinese take-out joint with vegan friendly options! I stopped by here since it was close to the gym to pick up some dinner. I noticed that they have a lot of vegan options on the menu, which is rare for a takeout place. I ordered over the phone for pick up, and it was ready in 10 minutes, just like they said. I ordered the Vegetarian General Tso's Chicken. I'm pretty sure it's made of tempeh, but I could be wrong. Flavor was good, but it wasn't very crispy. They could have done a better job in that aspect. But it was a very large portion with rice for the low price of $6.50. Definitely quick convenient and tasty. read more

2 stars well I'm putting this is two stars this is about an hour and a half later or at least three hours so must now and my wife is now gotten food poisoning. You can still honor the review below but I'm just not happy about this 4 stars because I am uncertain of how I feel about the food because it's different. Yes still a developing vegan. Not to mention they weren't sure of what was in the meat they knew it was vegan but for anyone with allergies I can't help you I think the chicken is soy though or tofu base. Hard to say the white rice is good the yellow rice is good which is the pork fried rice but the Lomaine lacks some taste and also because I didn't get any vegetables in it. Pretty solid Chinese take out. Located on the Boulevard in Hasbrouck Heights, very close to the traffic circle. I've tried numerous different things and it's all been pretty good. The fried dumplings are big and have a good amount of meat. The skin is just about right. The General Tso chicken, Kung pao chicken, and chicken with garlic sauce, all have good flavor. The portion size is a good amount. I've mostly checked out their lunch menu, which is moderately priced, at around $5-$7. It comes with your choice of pork or vegetable fried rice, and an egg roll or soup or soda. Parking around here can be a pain, as most of the street parking in front of the store tends to taken for most of the day. If you drive past the store and make a right on the next street, there is usually parking there. read more

I am absolutely in love with Dumpling Chinese!! By far the freshest, well balanced Chinese joint that I have ever encountered. They serve the food on lovely decorative plates and the tables and chairs were nice and steady. The shrimp dumplings were oozing with flavor and juiciness, fully packed with shrimp and piping hot. Perfectly seasoned and not overly salted. Green curry chicken smelled outstanding! They served huge chunks of chicken, onions, green peppers,squash and eggplant. That sauce was the star of the dish. Perfectly spicy with a nice consistency. The vegetables were super fresh as well. Vegetable fried rice was great, and was served on the side so it didn't get soggy in that delicious Curry. Now that, shows you care about the appearance and delivery for their customers. The scallion pancakes were delicious, although I like mine on the crisper side, these did not disappoint. Delivery was very fast and friendly. They have a great lunch menu that's sure to satisfy anyone. Best part, they cook there food with No msg and use 100% vegetable oil. When your done eating, it feels like a healthy meal since its not oily or greasy. ::New Place Alert:: It was late yesterday, too late to head out to a proper restaurant and the fridge was not properly stocked for cooking; It was time to play the 'whats good, local, and delivers in this area' game. I came up with "Jumbo Chinese" In Hasbrouck Heights, it had a 4.5 star review with approximately 9 previous reviews which generally would indicate a good restaurant, and when it comes to Chinese food 4.5 stars would indicate an outstanding Chinese delivery/takeout joint... So I gave it a shot! Only when my food was delivered did I realize when I was handed the delivery menu that this was actually a NEW business named "Dumpling Chinese Restaurant". My stomach dropped, because I was afraid that the unrated food I was about to try for the first time would not be up to the previous owners standards. I was wrong. When it comes to the inexpensive, take-out/delivery Chinese food category this place rates among some of the best I have had. I ordered General Tso's chicken (All white meat and spicy), egg drop soup, pork fried dumplings. All three were excellent. The pork fried dumplings were very obviously handmade (not the frozen pre-made pork fried dumplings we're all used to) they were delicate and very tasty much to my surprise.... Outstanding! Order some and you will see what I mean(I guess that why they call this place "Dumpling Restaurant" and I just got lucky with my order since i thought i was ordering from "Jumbo" restaurant. The white meat (as requested) in my General Tso's chicken was of excellent quality with spice on the side as requested, no funky extra fat, or bad meat noted at all. The egg drop soup was definitely up to par. 5-Stars For cheap, clean, flavorful Chinese food delivered right to your door! Never should we order from any establishments in our communities where it's okay to hang up the phone on their customers becauS they didn't like the feedback It's unfortunate that I finally found a Chinese delivery with okay food but the worst service I've ever experienced. I ordered the standard chicken wings and brown rice with an order of vegetable chow fun. The chow fun was so over cooked that it was inedible. What I mean by inedible is the chow fun noodle was rubbery and some edges were crispy - over cooked. when i explain this to the restaurant and the young lady became very defensive explaining she looked at it herself and this is how they make chow fun. She went on to argue with me when I ONLY ASKED TO REPLACE THE ORDER. She then gives the phone to a man who tells me I don't know how to cook chow fun and hangs up the phone. I breath, call back and explain, I never wanted my money back but to replace the food. They told me to go order somewhere else and they are sending my money back and I must return the food. I didn't want it in the first place. WE MUST STOP PATRONIZING BUSINESSES that do not respect us nor will accommodate any type of feedback. To add injury to insult, the delivery guy says I ate 1/2 the order. No sir, I gagged and spit in the chow fun in the garbage, I didn't eat the food. we tried to eat it but my child cousin literally choked on the noodle. The teriyaki beef had no flavor and the pork fried rice was bland and only traces of pork in it. The chicken on a stick was charred and dry with out flavor. I'm not happy. Besides the fact that the delivery man didn't even have the curtesy to look at me while handing me the food he ran off... Then he proceeds to leave the front gate open AFTER I said, "please stop! My dog just ran out and is following you!" He is a puppy so he's not fully trained yet (and that's in the notes to close the gate behind u") had be bothered to read them. Even after I said "please stop!" he kept running away as if his life depended on it and so I ran after him trying to catch my puppy and said " close the gate please!" Nope no response. So then my dog ran into the street and if a car was coming well then I would've lost my dog and my dogs and cats are my family. Simple things like reading the grubhub notes or listening to your customer could prevent what could've been a serious emergency situation. Animal safety to me is everything. This was totally inexcusable oh but wait-they did have an "excuse" when I called... Excuse-"ohhhhhh I'm so sorry but he doesn't get good tips when he delivers at night so he was just rushing to get to his next delivery." Um. What in the hell does that have ANYTHING to do with allowing a barking puppy to run out into the middle of the street by leaving our gate WIDE open?! If you have pets (especially new ones-please put in the notes anything that'll protect them or keep them close to you when ordering from dumpling sauce or whatever it's called or you may be without).
