So New Blue Sky is a typical hole in the wall chinese take-out. The apps we ordered were a bust but the entrees were good. We tried the steamed pork dumplings, the fried wonton, and egg rolls. None were remarkable, noteworthy, or worth the calories. I ordered a chicken with black bean sauce and my son got the general Taos chicken combo. Both were pretty good. So if you are not big on ordering apps this place might be right for you. Unfortunately so so dumplings just doesn't cut it so our hunt for a good chinese take-out local place continues. On this cold winter Thursday evening where no one wanted to cook, we ordered at our local go-to place for Chinese takeout. I placed the order for chicken udon soup, General Tso's chicken and chicken with broccoli. Being healthy conscience, we had our meal with brown rice instead of white or fried. The person on the other end told me 15 mins for the pick up. I got to the location only a few blocks away around the designated time. This takeout is a small store front with no tables but very busy around dinner time. While waiting for our pickup, there were 4 calls and one person waiting for her order. The quality of the raw ingredients here is very very high, especially for take-out Chinese. Prices are also very very good. They used real roast pork for the pork with garlic sauce, not deepfried bits of whatever. The flavours are a little lacking however, especially in the spiciness department. It's not much, but if you like very flavorful Chinese you will be disappointed. Portion size is a little on the small side (a lot of vegetables), and I would rather pay a dollar or two more (bringing them up to the standard prices for the area), and get a little more food. So I called to place an order for delivery because who wants to go out in this cold weather?? Nice lady answered the phone and immediately put me on hold for two minutes not on a actual hold but more like put the phone down so I was able to listen to a bunch of noise for TWO WHOLE MINUTES. It was pretty annoying..I much have rather had her put me on mute. No idea what she had to do but once she picked up she asked if it was for delivery or pick up. I began to tell her for delivery and the address, and placed my order. She read my order back to me and the address to make sure everything was correct. Told me about 45 minutes..an hour later finally got my chicken & broccoli delivered. Everytime i decide to try a new place i always regret it. This experience is one of those examples. I ordered from this place because i am not a fan of my usual spot's general tso, and i saw some fool praise this place's general tso. plus everyone had good things to say. i just dont get it. this place was pretty gross. the cheese wontons were NASTY. the General Tso was literally not edible! Disgusting hard as a rock and for the pieces that werent rock hard it was all nasty dark meat inside. The kung pao was ok at best. it was edible but not good... only thing to save the day, and to save it from a 1 star review was te chicken with garlic sauce which tasted pretty good. which was the only thing. so out of $25 worth of food $20 of it went in the garbage as nobody wanted to eat it. So we decided to do what we should have from the begining and we called east wok. it was my idea to try new place and i feel terrible for doing so. such a waste of money literally throwing money in the garbage.for the people who order from here and actually enjoy it. maybe they dont know any better, maybe my usual place just spoiled me and my family for chinese food because everywhere else is terrible.
