Delivery driver is very rude, told me to come pick up my food since taking an hr to deliver food was a problem for me. (I live 7 min away and I'm disabled.) Their food is falling off quality wise, I'm not sure if there's a change in who prepares it. But I do hope things improve and the delivery driver is spoken to. read more

My dad was in a rehab center in Teaneck, NJ. I am familiar with the area and knew that the town was so small. I found 2 carryouts and tried them both during my month long stay. Great Wall saw me once a week at least. lol The wonton soup and chicken with broccoli were top tier. I love soup with tons of scallions. Very happy with my first experience with GWK. we eat a lot of fast food Chinese as we travel non-stop all over the US (internally also but that doesn't count). I placed a phone order based on an online menu. We stopped in to pick it up and normally a pickup can't be differentiated too much as there is little time but the guy working was so over the top friendly that I had to comment. And it was not fake or obnoxious - he was just very thankful for us. As we are arriving at our destination, I realized I left my glasses on their counter. I called after a few minutes and he immediately said oh I'm so glad you called - I've been calling the recent numbers to find out whose these were! Huh? Who does that? So he says we are here until 10 but closed tomorrow. As luck would have it, the tomorrow was no good as we had a flight out of NJ scheduled. I was tired but made the trek back.wife runs in and he says thanks for coming back! The glasses had been cleaned and wrapped in a plastic bag. Are you kidding me? Fast food Chinese people. Oh yeah, we had some food also. Wife wanted to add bean curd to the broccoli with garlic sauce. His response? Sure, whatever you want. The rice lacked flavor, carrots and onions were the ingredients. So disappointed after working a 12 hour shift. The food is edible but they straight up lie to you about the delivery charge. It says free delivery on orders over $10, so I ordered over $10, but they said I need to order at least $15. So I did. Then they STILL charged a delivery fee (not tip). Terrible management. They will straight up lie to you to make more sales. read more

Having to feed a half a dozen volunteers quickly I yelped Chinese takeout in the area and saw this place had unusually high ratings and reviews I bought general tso's, shrimp fried rice, veggie lo mein, and seafood club and everyone loved it. They were all surprised by how good it was. IMO key to takeout Chinese is high turnover and this place is a local favorite which means they get a lot of business. More customers means fresher ingredients and it's also cooked very well. The food has that hot wok flavor and the sauces are flavorful and well seasoned. You don't get the soggy veggies, stale refried ingredients, over greased or sickly sweetened glop that is the bane of takeout Chinese all at a really good price. This place is also at a really nice food intersection. You have Bagel Twist next door that is very popular locally with good, fresh bagels and sandwiches, really good Greek food at Vasili's across the street, great Korean fried chicken place Peck Peck across Degraw Ave, Japanese food @ Zen Lounge and Yakotori right next to it. read more

I have eaten from great wall in Teaneck nj for many years, a person I used to work with recommended the yellow rice. I tried it. it was great. I then ordered other items over the years (take out eat in and also recently delivered). So far I have never been disappointed. Under other circumstances I would give this place 2.5 max but because Chinese delivery in Teaneck is the worst I have encountered. Thats why Great Wall gets my vote and 3 stars. The food is pretty consistent and decent but haven't ate anything I consider to be really good. I also find the food is pretty greasy. I usually get garlic broccoli and even that is drenched in sauce with a floating layer of oil. Needless to say that I hardly order Chinese food if the best option around is Great Wall. If I had to choose between Great Wall or Cathay Coast, then I'd pick the location closest to me at the moment. What Great Wall does better than most take-out spots is their usage of fresh ingredients. Another key aspect I require is cooking without MSG. Their Shrimp Toast is fantastic, it's a fat guy's dream. It's four to an order, and eating all four is a tremendous indulgence. Everything else I've ordered has been comparable in flavor to Cathay Coast. They also give free cans of soda based on how much you spend. If you spend more than $30, then 2 cans are awarded. Just don't go looking for anything other than Coca-Cola products. You'll be disappointed. Parking can be an issue, but you can probably park in the CVS lot across the street if there aren't any spots on Queen Anne. Do try the Shrimp Toast... read more
