While Chinese, Japanese, and Korean cuisines seem to grab most of the Asian culinary spotlight in this country, don't sell Thai food short. Fifty percent of all Thai restaurants outside of Thailand are in the U.S. and Canada. Thai food is a complex blend of hot, spicy, salty, sour, sweet, smoky, herbaceous, and aromatic flavors that vary throughout different regions of Thailand. Pad Thai is actually a fairly recent addition to Thai cuisine and was developed by the prime minister in the '30s as a symbol of national identity. Located in Emerson, I have been dining at this establishment since their next-door neighbor is a Subi dealer on Kinderkamack Road for many years. Pimaan Thai is family-owned and serves authentic cuisine inside a house where I made a reservation for a party of 5 at 630pm for Saturday night because it's very busy and it fills up quickly. Upon arrival, there were a few parking spots available, as this BYOB restaurant is very popular with the locals and has been voted four-time winners for Best of Bergen. Upon entering a packed line at the host station, my partner, our friends and I were greeted by the staff and got a table right away at the front by the window. Their menu brings a unique blend of seasonings and quality food together with plenty of vegetarian options, and the level of spice could be accommodated to one's taste. As an appetizer, we decided on the Chicken Satay, Crispy Spring Roll, and Crabmeat Pancake. As a main meal, we opted for Grilled Pork, Brian Beef Steak, Beef with Ginger Sauce, Spicy Tofu, and Pad See Ew with Tofu. We even saved room for dessert and got Chocolate Soufflé with Vanilla Ice Cream and Fried Ice Cream. All our dishes were authentic, made with fresh ingredients and amazingly tasty as compared to other Thai places in Jersey. The vibe was casual and comfortable, where the staff were hardworking and nice; our server was Nong. The price was comparable to the area. We had a wonderful dining experience where we left our stomachs satisfied, which we can continue to recommend this place.

Pimaan 79 Kinderkamack Road Emerson, NJ 07630 Side Salad Drunken Noodles Sweet and Sour Sauce Pimaan Fried Rice Thai Iced Coffee Appearance: 9/10 Taste: 9/10 Located in Emerson, New Jersey, literally footsteps away from the Emerson Train Station, is a locally owned Thai restaurant. I had the opportunity to explore a couple of the lunch specials and a dinner plate. Drunken Noodles: The flattened, thick noodles have a nice kick. I selected the chicken as my protein and it came with an array of vegetables. Sweet and Sour Sauce: This lunch special was also came with a mixed vegetable medley and protein of your choice. There are also a few pineapple chunks, which added that touch of sweetness. All lunch specials include white rice and a side salad. Pimaan Fried Rice: Named after the restaurant, This dinner plate was served with multiple meats. Its appearance kind of reminds me of the ultimate Taiwanese version of Hoppin' John. Thai Iced Coffee: To close out the meal, I explored a sweet and refreshing dessert drink. This caffeinated beverage will also give you that energy boost to get you through the rest of the day. All in all, it was a great dining experience trying Taiwanese cuisine. #pimaan #emersonnj #thaifood #thaicuisine #Sweetandsour #friedrice #drunkennoodles #thaiicedcoffee #foodtagram #localbusiness #foodreview #njfoodie #localspots

One of my favorite Thai restaurants in Bergen County! I've dined in and ordered take out multiple times within the past 3 years and I've never been disappointed. Food and service are consistently on point. Dishes are delicious with just the right amounts of flavor profiles: spicy, sweet, salty, sour. Make sure to call ahead and make reservations because it gets packed, especially during peak dinner time. It's BYOB and the ambiance is perfect for a date or family dinner. Pimaan has a lunch and dinner menu offering all of the traditional Thai dishes, from curries to noodles to soups to fried rice and more. My favorite dishes to order are: *Beef Satay - This appetizer comes with 3 beef skewers, peanut sauce, and a seasoned rice vinegar sauce. The meat is SO tender and well marinated, this is a must try! *Buddha Delight - If you're a tofu lover, I recommend ordering this. This app comes with pieces of fried tofu accompanied by a sweet chili sauce with crushed peanuts. *Pad Thai - A classic Thai noodle dish! Theirs is more on the sweeter side, but I didn't mind. *Pad See Ew - Another classic noodle dish! It's perfect for those who love wide rice noodles and soy sauce-based seasoning. *Thai Iced Tea - I ALWAYS order this... it's a must for me. They make this drink perfectly. A lot of places use artificial powder mixes, but not here! I've tried various other items like pineapple fried rice, green curry, and their desserts. I have no complaints! All were very tasty. I do wish that they could have bigger portion sizes since you're paying close to $20-$30 for one entree. Putting that aside, Pimaan continues to be one of my favorite Thai restaurants.

dined with family last night. We tried the spicy wings, spring rolls, pad Thais and pad eww. All were pretty good and nicely presented. My spring rolls were over cooked but still good. Pad Thais were tasty as the wings were. Would definitely return. Cute decor and cute outdoor seating.

We decided to give Pimaan a try during a girls nice. There are plenty of seats despite it being relatively busy for a Thursday night. We started out with mussels and a seafood pancake. I also had a shrimp pad Thai. The mussels were a bit small, but a lot of flavor. The shrimp pad Thai was large and very good. Service was good, and it's BYOB.

One of my favorite Thai restaurants. Food is always good, service is great and the ambience is inviting, cute and cozy. A great family owned restaurant.

Family's favorite Thai spot. Ordered takeout on a Saturday night. Order took about 30 minutes. When I got to the restaurant at 6 it was full and there was a line out the door for people either picking up orders or waiting for a table. Has to be a good place. I couldn't really appreciate my meal because it was so spicy. They need to make the spice levels on their menu more clear instead of just giving all spicy dishes a star. I originally wanted to order the jungle curry but was told it was really spicy because there's no coconut milk to cut the heat. I then considered the Masaman curry and was told that was even spicier! I wound up with the green curry which is considered medium spicy. I don't mind spicy but even this was burning my lips. It was spicier than my brother in law's level 2 spiciness of his pad Thai. It was much more enjoyable the next day when I mixed more vegetables and rice with it. I tried my mom's Bami Poo and that was pretty good. The edamame was a bit bland; we needed to add salt. The curry puffs were really dry. The only upside to having them was that they gave my mouth a break from the spiciness of the curry.

    Beef in oyster sauce.

Food and service is always great here. I always go back to my mixed seafood drunken noodles as the main course. I generally do not eat noodles but this is always an exception. Also, the Tom Yum Po-Tak soup is so delicious. Been coming here for years. Ambiance is cute. Highly recommend this restaurant and all its food. I have tried so many dishes throughout the years.

We ordered pad see ew, house fried rice, and the jumbo shrimp. The other dishes were decent but for 26 dollars, the portion of the jumbo shrimp is absolutely ridiculous. It was also bland and overcooked. I am so shocked and almost want to say it was a mistake... but safe to say I won't be ordering this dish ever again.

I always wanted to try Pimaan Thai; it's walkable from my local Subaru Dealer. My first visit was for lunch. This is a fairly large restaurant decorated very tastefully - a nice atmosphere for dining. They have a lunch menu with reasonably-priced specials. I ordered Pad See-Ew (with chicken) which also comes with a salad. The food was very good and the portions were perfect. I would definitely come back and/or recommend.

Every dish hit the table hot and quickly without feeling rushed, which I always appreciate. Great casual lunch or dinner spot! Catch up with friends or enjoy a lowkey dinner without feeling rushed or overly formal Also love that this spot is BYOB. I paired my meal with a Thai iced tea -- flavorful and refreshing, just not overly sweet (which some people might actually prefer). Appetizers: The curry puffs were delicious -- flaky, flavorful, but I definitely wished there were more than three. Chicken satay was well executed, but the honey ribs completely stole the spotlight. Super tender, flavorful, and easily the must-order on the starter list. Entrees: We ordered the deep fried filet snapper (with white rice) and the chicken Khao Soi. The Khao Soi was the standout of the night -- perfectly cooked noodles and a rich, coconut curry broth that was easily 10/10. The snapper was fried beautifully, and the mixed vegetables tasted incredibly fresh and bright -- almost ceviche-like in flavor. Portions were satisfying enough that I had zero room for dessert, but this is absolutely a spot I'd come back to explore more of the menu.

Not so good - curry puffs were tasteless, fried calamari were meh. Not good - duck salad had dry overcooked duck, green curry with beef was barely edible and had a funky sidekick flavor reminiscent of stale bucket water after the floors were mopped with beef that they threw in there, which was dry and super chewy. Water they serve is straight out of tap and I doubt it's even filtered as it had smell and taste that didn't have any hint of filtration. And a 20% automatic gratuity added to your bill for a group of 5 plus. Had to ask 1 waiter for a check 3 times. Got it finally after asking another waiter. First and last time for me in this establishment. Those posting 5 star reviews probably never had good Thai food. This place doesn't hold a candle to restaurants like Pimaan Thai or Wyckoff Thai. Lots of room here for improvement.

We ordered beef satay, Thai fried rice, duck chili basil, and chicken red curry. I also had a bowl of Tom Yum soup, which was excellent -- fresh ingredients, tasty, spicy, and refreshing. Everything was flavorful and well prepared as usual. We also had a bottle of Singha beer and Thai green iced tea -- both great, and the imported Thai beer here is still very reasonably priced at $5.95. The restaurant was busy during our visit, which is usually a good sign. A couple things caught us off guard this time. We asked for shrimp crackers to snack on before the food arrived -- something they used to give complimentary -- and later noticed a $5 charge for them on the bill. There was also a 3% credit card fee added with no mention of it beforehand. If costs are rising and adjustments are needed, that's understandable. Just be transparent about it so customers aren't surprised when the bill arrives. The food itself was still very good, but the unexpected charges took a little shine off the experience this time.
