I have been wanting to try this spot out for some time and finally gave this place a try for take out. Review is strictly based on takeout. Got the Lao wings ($9.95) which was tasty but it's really only 3 wings that are split. Got the chicken pad Thai noodles ($13.95), pad kee mao noodles with beef ($14.95) and garlic sauce stir fry with chicken ($13.95). Everything was great and the portion size is a good amount. My favorite dish was pad kee mao noodles. I will be back to try other dishes from here. To begin with, I cannot tell you how absolutely horrible the food was. The dumplings were served nearly cold. We had to send them back for reheat and they tasted like something they caught in a trap outside. I've eaten all over the world, and unfortunately, I had to eat in this place last night. I'm going to call my credit card company and tell them how bad the food was. The oil must've been rancid because the taste was horrible even even the fried rice was UN EDIBLE!!! And the nerve of this owner to charge your credit card 4% that is unheard of that is absolutely 1% higher than the allowed New Jersey surcharge and he charges it even on a debit card which is federally illegal! The food was nothing more than a twist on chinese with added sugar. Haven't had good Thai since Narin Thai on the square closed. Can't understand why they can't keep the ingredients fresh and aldente with a sauce that isn't all sugar and mush. read more

Good was great. Small business, maybe family owned. Went in to sit down and the place was empty, but the service was attentive. Server said they do mostly take-out, and it looked like it was only him and his mother there to cover the whole restaurant! Live only a few minutes away, genuinely one of my favorite places to eat. Probably been here about 20 times total. I almost always get the stir fry, and they are extremely receptive to ingredient substitutions (I have a fair few sensory issues so I can't eat some things), service is incredibly nice and fast. Small business, family owned, the son shares my birthday too so bonus points for that. Ambiance is very chill and relaxing, with some cool art pieces as well. Came here to try something different as we aren't in Newton too often. Nice sized space, neatly and simply decorated. Sat down and was greeted by a nice young man who took our drink order (we bought wine but my son got a Thai iced tea). Drinks came quick and Jr and i got the chicken pad Thai and my wife got the beef salad. The food came quickly and was fresh and delicious. I ordered my food very spicy and the owner came out (such a sweet woman) and offered me a sample of her hot chili and tamarind oil, it was amazing and super hot. Delicious authentic food, family owned, and with excellent service. My wife had the Pad Thai with chicken, modified as GF. The waitstaff took the time to describe the steps they were taking to keep her safe, with GF sauce plus care for cross contamination. It was a superior dish, and plentiful for leftovers. I had the Lao Fried Rice with beef, and it was served with an extra portion of fish sauce, just in case I wanted more (which I did!) I asked for medium spice, and was happy to see more then one type of chili in the dish - the level of spice was perfect. There were a variety of specials on offer, as well as imaginative desserts. We noticed another couple brought their own wine - nice to know that was okay. Looking forward to coming back soon, as by the time we were leaving, almost every table was full. read more

Stopped in for an early dinner with the grandkids. Everyone was friendly and provided great service. Having the grands with us we kept it pretty white-guy. Pad Thai, dumplings, chicken wings, spring rolls, pineapple fried rice, and Jungle Curry. All very tasty. We just moved to the Newton area and, as big fans of Thai food, were excited to try this restaurant. For lunch on a week day we had an order of pad see ew with shrimp and one of green curry with tofu. Both dishes were excellent! They came with tiny spring rolls that were hot, crispy and vegetarian with a nice tangy dipping sauce. We asked for one dish to be medium spice and the other to be mildly spicy. Next time we would take those requests down one notch as the dishes were pretty spicy to our tastes. We were served by a very pleasant young man who gave us just the right amount of attention. The interior of the restaurant is dark and quiet, nothing fancy, but pleasant. We will be going again. read more

So we had this food today for the first time. We are big fans of Thai food, have had it hundreds of times. This food is good BUT I noticed that a lot of the dishes we ordered: Jungle Curry Chicken, Tom Yum Kai, Pad Thai and even the spring rolls had a sweetness to it. We didn't like that. Otherwise, the food was good. Just don't use the same base for everything. They're not supposed to be sweet. I miss having lemon grass in my Tom yum by the way.. I was part of a group of four that went to Poy's Thai Kitchen for dinner this evening before the Ashley McBride concert at the Newton Theater. What a wonderful experience. Our waiter, Ben, was friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. We shared the spring rolls and duck salad for appetizers. Both were delicious. For entrees we had Pad See Ew with chicken and Pad Kee Mao with shrimp. Entrees we're delivered fresh and hot. They too were delicious. This delightful byob restaurant is a gem. Greeted and immediately seated. The table had plenty of room for the 6 of us plus all of the wine, BYOB! All six appetizers came out fast and was hot and delicious! Spicy Fish Cakes, Spring Rolls, Thai Dumpling, Butterfly Shrimp, and Curry Puffs. Six different entrées were ordered and also came out quickly. Portions were generous and you can tell everything is fresh made. Crab meat fried rice and the Red Snapper Prik King were two of the dishes ordered. Along with Penang Curry, Ginger Stir Fry, Pad Kee Mao Noodles and Thai Fried Rice. Salmon Dong is an appetizer that can't be missed; however, it MUST be ordered 24 hours in advance!! It is thinly sliced salmon served in a tangy but refreshing soy marinade. (I pre-ordered!) Server was efficient and courteous. Owner came out twice to check on us and see if anything else was needed. Parking was easily found on the street and there are spaces behind the building as well. The dining room was very clean and moderately decorated and plenty of room between each table.
