This is a small place with only a few tables. It is extremely clean and well kept. I went there in person, 04/11/2026, for take out. The woman who waited on me was very pleasant and smiled continuously. I alway appreciate staff with good dispositions. I ordered Tom kha gai chicken soup and red curry chicken main course, The portions were very good. It came with a nice size Jasmin rice. Cost was around $22, which is not bad. The food was delicious. The spice on the curry was just right. The flavor was very good for both the soup and the curry. I would definitely eat here again. read more

To me, Thai food is like Chinese takeout. There are restaurants everywhere, but it's difficult to find a place that does it exceptionally well. On a night when my husband and I found ourselves craving some Thai food, we took a chance on the Yelp algorithm of suggestions and landed at the Thai Shack's door. The weekday lunch special is a great deal. A light salad and spring roll are served with some preselected entrees, and it's here I have to give the peanut dressing some hearty props. I don't know what they put in that sauce, but it was all I could do to keep myself from licking that little bowl clean. For our entrees, we both went with noodles. I was initially disappointed that the serving size seemed smaller than expected, but don't let the plate fool you - it's enough. At least, it was for me because I felt full well before I reached the bottom. My beef pad see ew was incredible, with tender pieces of beef and a delectable sauce that made me want to spoon it over rice. My husband also liked his pad thai, with lots of soft chicken pieces. If we had any compunctions with our meal, it was that our noodles were a little heavily sauced and teetering just slightly on the salty side. Service here is friendly. That, along with the cozily dressed interior, makes dining in a pleasure. I was especially appreciative that water glasses are filled from water bottles instead of tap (say what you want about food in Jersey, but the taste of its unfiltered tap water is absolute trash). It's a small hole in the wall business located on Teaneck's Cedar Lane. There are only four tables inside, so it's more for take-out. Recently, I was craving Thai food and stopped by for an early dinner. I was originally going to take my food to go, but I decided to eat in. I'm so happy I did because I finally got to meet and chat with Ting, the owner! AND GOSHHHH SHE IS SUCH A SWEET WOMAN. Very warm and inviting. She checked in on me throughout my meal. I ordered... *Pad See Ew with chicken (~$14) - One of my favorite Thai noodles dishes! It's stir-fried wide rice noodles with a sweet and savory flavor. The soy and oyster sauce gives it most of the flavor. My only complaint is that I wish there was more chicken in it. *Tom Yum Koong with shrimp (~$7) - This is a spicy herb soup with lemongrass, kaffir lime leaves, lime juice, and mushroom. I requested the spice level to be mild and it still had the perfect kick. The broth was also tangy, which I loved. I wish there was more shrimp though - there was only one piece and too many mushrooms. I was in the mood for some Massaman curry, shrimp rolls, chicken satay and possibly some sticky rice in mango. I decided to hit up Thai Shack for these necessities. The Curry was rich and moderately spicy, as I requested, "medium spice level." There were big pieces of potato and a reasonable amount of chicken in the dish. The satay and shrimp rolls were also, equally good. Last was the sticky rice and mango, which was sweet and delicious! All in all, a great dinner spot. read more

Best Thai food that we have found in Northern New Jersey thus far. It's a small place with two tables, so mostly a take out place. That being said, we get take out from here all the time. We've tried many other Thai places in Northern Jersey, and this one can't be beat. Pad Thai is surprisingly hard to make. If you have too much of one sauce or another, it can be too sweet, or too salty, or too fishy. This place's Pad Thai is none of these. It's excellent. The pad see ew is also great (i.e. not too salty from soy sauce), as is the crab fried rice, the curry puffs, the shrimp rolls. It's also cheap. Truly the best tasting thai food in the area, tried the popular hackensack place and the new ones popping up but this place is just special. You truly feel like it's home cooking, best spice levels and accurate. Solid Thai food and very reasonable prices. Honestly, it's hard to find Thai restaurants in this neck of Bergen County. They are definitely far and few in between, but when I stumbled upon Thai Shack via a Yelp search and saw all of the positive reviews, I just HAD to drop in to feed my Thai food craving! The restaurant, which still isn't open for dine-in (as of Feb. 2022), is located on Cedar Lane, which is a main road, in Teaneck. If you're here for pickup, which basically everyone is, street parking will be your only option when stopping by. What I loved most about Thai Shack, even before my taste buds had a chance to test drive their food, was the fact that they have a Lunch Specials menu! Not uncommon, but it's always my favorite way of trying out a restaurant. If the Lunch Specials are not good, I tend to just skip them. In addition, the prices of the Lunch Specials ($10-$11) here are shockingly on par or even less expensive than most fast food Thai restaurants. The Lunch Specials, which go from 12-3pm daily, and are served with a salad (w. peanut dressing) and spring roll, consists of the usual that you will see at other Thai restaurants - Curries served with Rice, Pad Thai, Pad See Ew, Thai Fried Rice, etc - no surprises. We ended up ordering a few of the Lunch Specials to try - Pad Thai w/ Chicken, Pad See Ew w/Chicken, Massaman Curry w/ Chicken and the Thai Fried Rice.... you guessed it, with Chicken. The portions of all of the entrees weren't huge, but still very reasonable and filling for a single serving. The Pad Thai was quite delicious and tasty, even though it looked a bit on the bland side at first glance, DON'T LET LOOKS FOOL YOU. Typically, when food doesn't look tasty, it isn't, but not in this case! It had just the right balance of sweet-savory in it and I thoroughly enjoyed the noodles and chicken. Honestly, it wasn't the best looking or most elegant presentation, but it was solid. With the Pad See Ew, we loved the flavor and thought it was really good, but on first glance, unlike the Pad Thai, it actually looked as good as it tasted! As for the Thai Fried Rice, solid, but nothing out of the ordinary for a fried rice. It was good for fried rice. And the Massaman Curry w/ Chicken was exceptionally tasty too. If I had to do it all over again, I would definitely go for curry because of the strong flavors in them. Overall, a good option if you're craving Thai food. It's not going to blow you away, but it's Thai fast food and it'll hit the spot for you still. My favorite Thai place that I have in NJ! Second overall after pye boat noodle in queens though this place does have coconut juice and two dessert options and pye doesn't. I love the curries- panang, red, and green curry. I also love the Pad Kee Mao and pad Thai! Oh and i love their coconut juice! I wish they had coconut pudding though. This place is really good!! It's been so hard to find a Thai spot that actually makes authentic Thai food. I ordered the drunken noodles and i knew from the moment i opened the container and smelled the spice i knew i had finally found my go to spot. It was incredible! Flavor was on point and they give good portions. Second time i went i got the pineapple fried rice which i was not a huge fan of , however it was still tasty. It wasn't really the traditional pineapple fried rice I'm use to. It had a lot of curry powder like make someone accidentally added too much. It was very overwhelming. Nothing. The seating policy was confusing. They are suppose to be first come seating. Yet there were many open tables that were "reserved"' and could not be used for walk in guests. Walked in close to closing time, and they were more than happy to take my order. The lace is exceptionally clean, and you are greeted in the most gracious manner. Sapphire Thai, WHERE ART THOU??? Well, guess Thai Shack took over. My colleague recommended it. So, my other colleague and I decided to order. I got the pad thai (because I judge all Thai restaurants based on their pad thai and their green cury) = meh. Also, I got the soup where the chicken was super dry but the soup was okay. The food is AMAZING. I have been looking for good Thai food since I moved to Teaneck, I didn't realize it was right in my neighborhood. I ordered pad see ew, but most of the places I order pad see ew don't actually have Chinese broccoli, which is so essential to this dish, it was delicious. I also ordered spring rolls, curry puffs, and shumai. All was delicious, I wish they had crab Rangoon, but I was very content. The red curry is flavorful and velvety with a little heat. I really enjoyed the dish it was an engaging almost spiritual experience. The shrimp rolls are real jumbo shrimp with a tangy sauce. A new Thai restaurant at the old Sapphire Thai location in Teaneck. Got takeout from here tonight and the food was pretty good. I ordered a Moo Yang, Pad See Ew, and Crab Fried Rice. The pork in the Moo Yang was flavorful and grilled to perfection. The Pad See Ew was tasty and not overly greasy. The Crab Fried rice was ok, but didn't have much crab in it at all.
