I have my go-to Thai place, but I was getting a large order for a group and saw this place had cheaper prices and earlier opening time, so I gave Green Thai Kitchen a try. I placed the order online and went to pick it up. The inside looked like the place wasn't even open. No one standing at the counter. If not for the fact that the front door was open and there was a dim light in the back, I might have thought I was getting scammed. The portions were large for the price. Unfortunately, some of the dishes were really underseasoned and dry. I like my pad Thai really dry, but this was so dry it was hard to portion out the noodles when I got home. The massaman curry was full of veggies but a little bit bland. The rice for the fried rice was a good quality rice, though, not the cheaper Western rice and not cooked to mush either. There used to not be too many Thai places around here, so this place might have been notable for the great value if not for the new establishments that offer tastier and higher quality Thai. read more

I ordered the the lunch special Pad See Ew. I came around 12:30pm it was not busy at all. The lady was really nice, and smiled a lot. I saw the chef in the back prepping chicken while listening to Chinese radio. It was pretty hot today and there were fans and no AC. But after I sat down to eat the lady closed the door and turned on the AC for me. My lunch total was $10.85 with tax came with soup & salad. The salad was iceberg lettuce with spring mix & cucumbers with a miso carrot dressing. I also got 2 spring rolls! Which I thought were crunchy toppings for the soup at first. I wouldn't spend money on ordering the spring rolls as they're frozen, but definitely worth it if they're free. The chicken coconut soup was a bit bland. But the chicken tastes fresh, and the piece of mushroom and fresh cilantro tasted very nice. The noodles had very nice caramelization. I like how there were very generous about the portion of vegetables and protein in the dish. Usually places cheap out by having the dish 90% carbs. And they put like 3 pieces of broccoli in your dish. But this noodle dish was like 60% carbs, and 40% vegetables and protein, felt healthy. My dish was very simple. Wide flat noodles, broccoli, egg, and fried tofu. There was very little sauce so the ingredients could really shine. It was kind of oily, but what are you going to do, it's fried noodles! Mostly a takeout place though. I was the only one eating in the take out place. Despite the fact that they have 6 tables. The place was pretty clean, no flies everywhere, and not super dusty. I can tell they clean daily and do a good job. The lady even came over the picked up my salad container when I was done with it while eating. They have good service with a smile. Fast and furious Thai. Abundant portions and efficient, fast delivery (order through Yelp) make this a solid choice. I ordered the spicy basil with tofu, extra spicy and it was not remotely spicy, more sweet than anything. I'd likely not order this again because it also didn't come with more than a shred or two of basil. All I could taste was sweet + garlic. It's a very generous portion, chock full of tofu and bell peppers/onions (not my favorite) and I added broccoli but there was only a few pieces of it. Although not noted on the menu, they include snow peas (love), mushrooms, zucchini and carrots, leading me to think mb they just added a vegetable mix rather than broccoli. Not a big deal, but I felt like my order was just overall wrong. My father ordered his Thai standard, Massaman curry, and he loved it, so I think I'd order from here again for efficient delivery, but I'd definitely opt for a different entree and also ask for a side of chili sauce. read more

Pros: the drunken noodle, shumai, and salad dressing were all good. Cons: the salads did not look their best and sadly one ended up being thrown out due to lack of freshness. It would be helpful if the menu through Qmenu had descriptions of the menu items since there ended up being confusion with what arrived. The spicy shrimp soup was warming but not spicy, and the chicken soup was spicy. The pineapple fried rice was filled with coconut which is listed on their main menu but not on the ordering menu. Got the chicken pad Thai dish, which had some great flavor and was rather large. My wife and I also split the spring rolls, which were delicious and perfectly crispy. I was pleased with the food. Surprisingly the star was the dressing for the avocado mango salad. It brings so much flavor and character to an otherwise plain Jane avocado mango salad. It's a great blend. The samosa were delicious with a slight kick of heat without being overwhelming. The pineapple fried rice comes with shredded coconut and diced peanuts which I enjoyed but the veggies were a tad bit under cooked and it needed just a little more flavor. I really like this place, but I now see a pattern where I will no longer get their chicken panang or massaman curry. I just ordered it for a second time now, not remembering that I didn't care for it the first time, so when I ordered it again recently, sure enough, I didn't like it AT ALL. I now know, DON'T GET IT AGAIN. Their sauce is downright weird, and I hate to say it, almost tastes spoiled. I think it's just how THEY prepare it, and it's not to my liking. Who knows, so there are plenty of other dishes to choose from, and I just will do that very thing. For instance, their Tom Ka Kai soup is excellent. Never had any issues. Their drunken noodles are fine, too, as is their spicy eggplant. However, I will part ways with their panang or massaman curry. No can do. read more

I really wanted to like Green Thai but it truly disappointed. In their defense, the meat dishes may be incredible... but as a vegetarian I can only comment on their tofu plates. We got the Pad Thai and Tofu with Broccoli. Both were super greasy and not very tasty. Tofu has to be seasoned well or it's Bland City, USA. It didn't taste *bad*, it just didn't taste *good*. I'm giving 3 stars for ease of ordering and their steamed veggie dumplings were actually quite good. Maybe I caught them on a bag night? A mixed review for green Thai kitchen. The things that I thought could be better. I ordered a salad with peanut dressing. The peanut dressing I didn't like, and it what I was looking most forward to because I love peanut sauce/dressing. There was a lot of oil floating on the top and it was more of a chili paste flavor than peanuts. The massaman curry had mushrooms, which I didn't know because I didn't open the menu options and listing when I ordered on seamless. I've never seen mushrooms in this type of dish before and I felt it was watered down too. The mushrooms threw off the dish for me. The things I did like are; The delivery person who delivered my order was kind and delivered on time. The drunken noodles were outstanding and I really enjoyed them. The portions are plentiful I would try this restaurant again for the drunken noodles for sure, but not for the peanut sauce or curry dishes. read more

We were not disappointed. The Panang Curry and spicy basil fried rice was perfect - just the right amount of spice. The drunken noodle that my husband got, which by the way I've never cared for before, was DELICIOUS. I honestly ate most of his food before I even started on mine. Customer service is a huge deal to me. No matter how good the food is if the service is no good I won't go back. Green Thai has terrific customer service. Our food took what they classified as a little too long though it didn't seem long to us and they called to apologize again a little while after we picked up. After spending all week dealing with terrible customer service at a certain furniture store it was a shock to the system to be treated so nicely. We'll definitely be back. read more

Decided to give this place a chance one night. I ordered the pineapple fried rice for takeout. I picked it up and brought it home. The rice was undercooked and looked anemic. The chicken had no flavor and the rice was mushy. The pineapple tasted like it just came out of a can.. very disappointing. I had to go back to the restaurant and get a refund. read more

Got take out from them after a day at the beach. We called in the order. The service was nice and quick, about 15 minutes or so. The staff was nice. The food was spot on. It's a small little restaurant right on the strip mall along Merrick Road, easy to find and get to. The food: Chicken Pad Thai - great execution. The noodles were perfectly cooked and not mushy. The flavor was good, but could use a bit more of a punch. Tom Yum Goong - this was good as well, it hit the spot. They used smaller shrimps than expected...so they were a little over cooked, but it was delicious. TLDR: totally worth checking out. good suburban thai food. They are definitely delicious. read more

This was probably more like a 2.5. The food looked amazing so I had high hopes, and the girl at the counter was really nice, but unfortunately this was not a satisfying meal: - Sesame chicken from bento box was dry and salty, rest was ok - Chicken pad see yu was salty and noodles were clumped together - Massaman curry wasn't bad - hubby thought it was a bit salty, I thought it was ok, but interesting interpretation (had mushrooms and no nuts) - Thai iced tea was bland, not sure if it was too diluted or missing something ~ Spent 2 hrs hangrily trying to decide what to get for dinner. Went with this place since it was a bit cheaper than other nearby Thai places. Saw online that they previously had Groupon offers, but none was available at that time.. which kind of makes you feel like you're not getting the best deal but still decided to give it a try. Ordered online through Yelp (via Grubhub) for pickup, was given an estimate of 35-45 mins. Decided to call to see how long it'd really take since those estimates are never accurate, and I think I was told 25 mins. Definitely has a fast food takeout place vibe. My food was packed and ready to go when I got there, but they waited until I arrived to make my drink, which was nice to keep the drink from getting too diluted. The girl who helped me was nice. Someone who worked at another shop on the little mall strip came in to order food and she recognized him from his shop so she said she'd bring the food over to him, which I thought was great customer service. First thing we noticed when we pulled all the food out at home was that we weren't given utensils, not sure if this is a Long Island thing. It was the second time that week, but never had this problem before. Everything looked good, but unfortunately didn't taste great. There is something soothing with a good cup of Thai iced tea - that depth of flavor with a hint of sweetness. This cup was not good. Not sure if it was too diluted, if the measurements they use were off, but it tasted watered down and was missing depth to it. Not the biggest deal but most of the noodles for the chicken pad see yu were clumped together. The noodles and chicken were really salty though, so that made it hard to eat. Pad see yu is always my go-to dish for Thai, so I've had it from a lot of places. Was disappointed here. We also ordered the sesame chicken bento box (granted, not really a Thai dish), which came with rice, shumai, edamame, salad, and choice of chicken coconut soup or spicy shrimp soup. We chose the coconut chicken soup since I figured it'd be the less spicy alternative to the spicy shrimp soup (again, I can't handle spice). Nope, coconut chicken soup was also spicy. It wasn't bad but all I tasted was spice and parsley. When we opened the bento box, the sesame chicken was sitting in a pool of sauce which also spilled into the rice. Unfortunately this sauce was super salty, so it was hard to eat the chicken and the rice. The thing that's usually delicious about sesame chicken is that light sweetness and fragrant sesame touch (and the chicken is usually at least lightly breaded). This chicken was bare, dry (which was the most disappointing part since bento chicken is always delicious and makes me feel like my chicken cooking skills are inadequate), and seemed like it was just doused with soy sauce and had a bunch of sesame seeds thrown on top. The shu mai and edamame were ok, nothing to write home about. The chicken massaman curry was ok, but their interpretation was interesting since this dish usually has peanuts (which was missing) and not mushrooms (which it had). Everything was cut into big slices - I thought the onions would have a gross raw onion taste since it didn't seem carmelized, but it was actually pretty sweet. My husband thought this was too salty, but I thought it was the best dish out of the ones we ordered. It was a generous portion but definitely wasn't enough rice for the amount of curry. We added our own brown rice which was good. I took a takeout menu from the restaurant (they might've given me one too). Was amused that someone has gone through to white out at least one thing on the menu (not even with white out tape which would've been neater, the bumpy white out paint was pretty noticeable. Can definitely understand that it was the more cost effective approach though. One plus though was at least the prices on their takeout menu in the store and prices on Grubhub were the same. Feels deceptive when restaurants have different sets of pricing. Pricing was decent though, paid a little over $40 for everything. They have lots of good ratings so perhaps they had an off day? Maybe it was what I ordered? Unfortunately, with all the restaurants out there and my underwhelming experience here, probably will not end up returning. read more

Have only gotten delivery from Green Thai, but it has consistently been delicious. They always put a good amount of spice in the drunken noodles and the curry is always flavorful. On a recent order one of our items was left out, when I called the restaurant they promptly delivered the missing item within 15 minutes and issued me a refund. This place is great. Probably the friendliest service we've experienced at a Long Island Thai spot. The kid working the front was as a polite as can be. When we forgot to get our three seltzer's from the cooler after we had already paid, he suggested we just take them. (Later, I ordered a to go plate and insisted that he charge us, but the gesture was incredibly nice.) I'm not sure, but I'm assuming it's a family run shop. The mom asked us if the AC was ok, as it was a very hot day, and they had just shut the door. Everyone was just so sweet. Which was a great compliment to the food. Nothing was weird, or done poorly. The Thai spring rolls were crispy, obviously made in fresh oil. The Pad Thai was seasoned well, and they had a variety of ways to make it spicy, from Siracha to Prik Pow. My wife got tofu with mixed vegetables, that came with a great variety of veggies and the tofu was cooked perfectly. Everything was fresh and well prepared, and the wait time was minimal, even though there was a steady stream of takeout customers. We will definitely be back. read more

Guys, it's actual Thai food on LI! Came for a late lunch and had a Tom Ka Ga soup (spicy coconut with chicken) and chicken pad Thai. Both can be adjust for spiciness, so don't be shy. The soup is blazing hot (spicy) but it can be toned down if you just ask. The owner was there and was so lovely, warm and friendly. Also had a Thai iced tea and it was deliciously sweet and creamy. A small order of pork steamed dumplings ($5), Panang curry (spicy coconut curry with basil, pepper, sweet peas, zucchini and mushrooms (with shrimp) $13 and a side of coconut rice ($2.50) Food was prepared quickly and was steaming hot still went I got home. Dumplings were excellent and still had a slight crunch in the filling (ginger?) dipping sauce was perfect as it wasn't overly salty like some can be. Curry was delicious! It's my go-to order when I get Thai food. Just the right amount of heat for me. May be too spicy for some, but I loved it. The soup flavoring was actually very good, but it was like 3 sips of soup... The food here was excellent. There a place to eat in but it is not fancy. I always get drunken chicken at Thai restaurants and I always have leftovers. Usually with the leftovers it doesn't taste that great and the broad noodles don't hold a great texture.
