The name says it all. The food is amazing. I see why they have 5 stars on yelp. Besides having amazing food, the owners are serving and cooking for you. They made us feel so welcomed. We will be back over and over again.

When I heard that the owners of Thai Angel reopened under a new name and a new home, I had to go! It's been a few months since I heard about the opening, so my boyfriend and I finally went back for dinner! It's a smaller spot, only a few tables but the food is just as delicious as I remember! My boyfriend and I started with Thai dumplings. They were so flavorful and the sauce was perfect. For my entree I had chicken pad Thai with medium spice. The spice level was perfect! Portion was also very generous and I'm excited for leftovers. My boyfriend had pad won seen with beef. He throughly enjoyed it. Prices were extremely reasonable! For an appetizer, two entrees and a soda the total came to $44 (including tax, before tip!) Joy was very welcoming and even said she remembered us being a frequent customer in the past. 5 stars all the way!

Really, really above-average Thai food. I got the tofu pad Thai, and it was super good--definitely lived up to the "amazing" in their name. Overall, if you're looking for solid Thai food that hits the spot, this is the place to be. Definitely worth a visit!

My family and I have been coming to this restaurant (they had a prior location in Islandia) for over a decade. The food is always consistently fresh and amazing quality. Joy and Ken are the sweetest people and always welcome us with a warm embrace. I now live in New Jersey but my parents and brother still frequently order take out or dine in. We always feel like family here and love coming back. Everything on the menu is a hit. I'm pretty sure we've practically tried everything. It truly is hard to pick a favorite but I do love the green curry, pad Thai, pad se ew, pineapple chicken fried rice just to make a few. The restaurant is small so try calling ahead if you plan on dining in or carrying out. You won't be disappointed! Don't even hesitate, just come here! Tell them Brianna and Judy sent you.

Ambiance: warm, could be either a quick stop in or a date night vibe depending on time of day. Love the cute umbrellas in the roof. Service: top notch, frequent check ins, friendly waiter Food: delicious all around. They have various spice levels. Went here with my boyfriend. We had chicken pad thai and drunken noodles. Think it may be one of the best Thai restaurants in the area. Really liked their pad thai. It wasn't dry or too sweet and you get ample amounts of chicken. The drunken noodles was spongy noodle goodness with a good mix of veggies. I've sat down and ordered pick up several times from this restaurant. Food is always piping hot and delish

Walked into an empty dining room on a rainy Tuesday late afternoon/ early evening. The hostess/ waitress Joy greeted my daughter and me with a smile and told us that we could sit wherever we'd like. The dining room looked immaculately clean and it was decorated nicely with some interesting Thai themed artwork. We were handed two paper menus and told to take our time and feel free to ask any questions. My daughter ordered a Thai iced tea and I stuck with water, which was promptly delivered to our table upon sitting. My daughter LOVED the ice tea. She said it was better than the any of the ones she has tried at our local places. We shared an appetizer of keaw tod which consists of "golden crispy fried wontons stuffed with ground chicken and Thai herbs, served with a plum sauce". They weren't kidding. The wontons were perfectly golden crispy fried pillows of tastiness. The plum sauce added a little sweetness into the equation. Such a well executed appetizer. I ordered the chicken pad se-eaw and my daughter ordered the beef pa nang curry. I have to say, the chicken pad se-eaw was the best I've ever tasted. It was evident that there was ALOT of love out into this dish. Every ingredient was very fresh and flavors of sweetness, a tiny little bit of kick and fresh chicken just jumped out at me with every bite. My daughters dish was served with white rice. She devoured it. She hadn't ever tried that particular dish before so there was no way to compare, but the few bites I had were outstanding. The service is just second to none here. The chef, Ken, came out of the kitchen and said hello and asked if we enjoyed our food. A very nice touch. Just a top-notch experience. These people are the owners of "Thai Angel" in Islandia and they always had great food there. I hope they do well. Plenty of parking, the restaurant is in a shopping center. Maybe 10 tables overall. Head on out and show them some support if you're looking for great Thai cuisine. I highly recommend this place.

I placed the order online and went to pick it up. The inside looked like the place wasn't even open. No one standing at the counter. If not for the fact that the front door was open and there was a dim light in the back, I might have thought I was getting scammed. The portions were large for the price. Unfortunately, some of the dishes were really underseasoned and dry. I like my pad Thai really dry, but this was so dry it was hard to portion out the noodles when I got home. The massaman curry was full of veggies but a little bit bland. The rice for the fried rice was a good quality rice, though, not the cheaper Western rice and not cooked to mush either. There used to not be too many Thai places around here, so this place might have been notable for the great value if not for the new establishments that offer tastier and higher quality Thai.

I saw the chef in the back prepping chicken while listening to Chinese radio. It was pretty hot today and there were fans and no AC. But after I sat down to eat the lady closed the door and turned on the AC for me. My lunch total was $10.85 with tax came with soup & salad. The salad was iceberg lettuce with spring mix & cucumbers with a miso carrot dressing. I also got 2 spring rolls! Which I thought were crunchy toppings for the soup at first. I wouldn't spend money on ordering the spring rolls as they're frozen, but definitely worth it if they're free. The chicken coconut soup was a bit bland. But the chicken tastes fresh, and the piece of mushroom and fresh cilantro tasted very nice. The noodles had very nice caramelization. I like how there were very generous about the portion of vegetables and protein in the dish. Usually places cheap out by having the dish 90% carbs. And they put like 3 pieces of broccoli in your dish. But this noodle dish was like 60% carbs, and 40% vegetables and protein, felt healthy. My dish was very simple. Wide flat noodles, broccoli, egg, and fried tofu. There was very little sauce so the ingredients could really shine. It was kind of oily, but what are you going to do, it's fried noodles! Mostly a takeout place though. I was the only one eating in the take out place. Despite the fact that they have 6 tables. The place was pretty clean, no flies everywhere, and not super dusty. I can tell they clean daily and do a good job. The lady even came over the picked up my salad container when I was done with it while eating. They have good service with a smile. It might not look like much from the outside, but give this place a try!

We ordered two dishes from this restaurant, both with which were insanely expensive however, I was willing to overlook the price if the quality of the food was sufficient. Almost $30 each for pad see yew and pad Thai, totaling over $70 for two dishes when all was set and done. In retrospect, I'm an idiot for paying so much for noodles. Regardless, I indicated "BABY level" of spice on my pad CU as in my old age I just can't handle it anymore. And my old age, I mean my 30s. Back on track, my order was received and not only were there barely any noodles or shrimp in my pad see yew, the container was not even halfway full. Both dishes, the pads see you and the pad Thai were so spicy that neither of us could eat it. Everything would be fine if that was where the story ended, but it's not. Upon calling the restaurant I spoke to a nice but powerless who handed the phone off to an even nicer gentleman with seemingly more power. He completely understood our predicament and offered anything we would want in order to remedy the situation. At this point, it is almost 9 o'clock at night so ordering and waiting for food to be delivered or re-delivered is not an option. We asked for a refund as the food is inedible. I also remind you that these two dishes were over $70 which is absolutely absurd. I also remind you that the pad see yew dish was maybe 50% full with three shrimp in total. The nice nice man asked me if I wanted to speak to the chef to which I said no, I need to speak with a manager. Oh no that wasn't a nice man. That was the nice but powerless lady that's who gave me the nice man. Somehow the Chef got on the phone and that's where everything falls apart. She was so offended that we requested a refund that she insisted that we were wrong, that they don't use spice, that we ate the food and couldn't prove it. She wanted a photo of said spicy food, as if the photo would indicate the level of heat. She thought we ate it already and wanted photo proof. She claimed that we were ruining her restaurant and said that we weren't nice. She said that she wanted us to come to the restaurant and return the food. Go anywhere else for Thai food, especially Galanga in Bay shore, where to the wise if it ain't broke, don't fix it! I apologize immensely for all in any spelling and grammatical errors, I am too tired and too hungry to proofread this voice memo review.

I ordered the chicken pad see ew, beef red curry, chicken satay, and basil chicken. Tried to hit every meat group. Next time gotta try the fish The Chicken Pad See Ew was a standout. Wide rice noodles with that perfect chewy texture and beautiful wok hei char. The savory-sweet soy-based sauce coated everything perfectly, and the mix of tender chicken and juicy pieces made it incredibly satisfying. The Beef Red Curry was rich and aromatic with a luscious coconut milk base. The red curry paste had great depth. There was layers of lemongrass, galangal, and spices. The beef was melt-in-your-mouth tender, and the bamboo shoots, bell peppers, and Thai basil were fresh and plentiful. I loved how it had a nice kick that built up without overpowering the dish. The Chicken Satay came out perfectly grilled with beautiful char marks. The chicken was juicy and marinated well, and the peanut sauce on the side was creamy, nutty, and addictive. Finally, the Basil Chicken delivered that classic Thai street-food flavor. Plenty of fragrant holy basil, lots of garlic, and just the right amount of chili heat. The chicken was tender with great texture, and it paired amazingly with jasmine rice. Everything arrived hot, fresh, and beautifully presented. The portions were very generous too -- we had plenty of leftovers for the next day. As my son would say "10 out of 10!" but since we are on yelp, we'll have to settle with a 5. I ordered Pad See Ew, which arrived in a sealed Staples shopping bag and was packaged in a standard black plastic takeout container with a clear lid. Everything seemed normal until I was about 95% finished with my meal. Out of nowhere, I bit down on something sharp. When I spit it out, I was shocked to discover that it was a piece of glass. As a result, my mouth was bleeding in two different places. Finding a chicken bone or a piece of cartilage in a meal is one thing, but finding GLASS is completely unacceptable and presents a serious safety hazard. What was almost as upsetting as the glass itself was the restaurant's response. I immediately called and asked to speak with a manager. After explaining what had happened, the reaction was surprisingly indifferent. I received little more than a casual "Sorry to hear that" and an offer of a refund. There was no apparent concern for my well-being, no effort to investigate how glass ended up in the food, and no sense of urgency regarding the seriousness of the situation. A refund does not erase the fact that I was injured while eating food prepared by this restaurant. Customer safety should be a top priority, and the lack of concern shown after such a dangerous incident was mind-blowing. I cannot recommend a restaurant that serves food containing glass and then responds with such a lack of concern when a customer is injured. Proceed with caution.

***INDO-CHINESE FLAVOR BOMB IN YOUR MOUTH*** ***SUPER…read moreFRIENDLY FAMILY-RUN RESTAURANT*** INDO-CHINESE? In the early 1800's a large number of Chinese citizens, immigrated to Calcutta, a city in the northern part of India, close to China. After becoming established, many of these immigrants started opening restaurants to support themselves. And then, because of a lack of certain ingredients, and to tailor the food to the palates of the Indian citizens, these Chinese chefs altered their recipes. And these new recipes, incorporated certain Indian spices, and a heavier use of spices and sauces - which made these new style dishes especially appealing - and created what is known today as Indo-Chinese, or Indian-style Chinese food. MASTER CHEF MIKE TENG Mike Teng, son of Hakka Chinese parents, was born and raised in India. He started cooking at 14, and eventually became a head chef preparing Indo-Chinese food in Mumbai. Then in 1984, he emigrated to the US and worked in the restaurant industry, until he became executive chef at the famous Jade Eatery & Lounge in Forrest Hills Queens. And it was here that he became notorious for his unique cuisine, and went on to receive numerous accolades. A DIFFERENT APPROACH After seven years of grueling work at Jade, Mike decided to take a break from the restaurant industry for a while. Then in 2019 he opened Teng's Restaurant, and set up operations in a way that would minimize work. As such, the restaurant would only open for dinner, between 4-11 PM, and there would be minimal table service. So let me explain how this works: You sit down at a table, and a friendly family member takes you order and helps with recommendations if necessary. And then you grab paper plates & cups, and plastic utensils from a shelf by the front counter. There's also a refrigerator here with drinks to choose from. And then the food is served to you at the table in take-out style containers. THE KEY TO ORDERING HERE There are a relatively large number of items on the menu, but most of the dishes can be broken down into a few different styles, such as Hakka Chili, Manchurian, Salt And Pepper, Orange, Szechuan, Basil, Kung Pao, and Ginger & Scallion. And the key to ordering here is to avoid choosing multiple dishes in the same style, as the meal & flavors can become one-note in nature. But if your vigilant, and pick some of the best items from each style, you will be rewarded with an Indo-Chinese flavor bomb in your mouth. FIRST TIME? GIVE THESE A SHOT So a few recommendations to try on a first visit, if you're able to enjoy spicy foods would be: - Hakka Chili Style Chicken or Beef - Salt and Pepper Style Fish Filets or Chicken - Orange Chicken or Kung Pao Chicken - Manchurian Style Fish or Chicken - General Tso's Chicken or Tofu - Ginger and Scallion Chicken - Szechuan Wontons or Momos - Orange Glazed Wings or Hakka Chili Wings - Basil Fried Rice - Hakka Noodles And here's a few vegetable recommendations: - Manchurian style Cauliflower or Salt and Pepper Cauliflower - Szechuan Potato or Potato with Black Bean Sauce - Spicy Stir Fried String Beans. - Mapo Tofu - Manchow Soup with or without meat YOU'RE PROBABLY GONNA LOVE THIS PLACE After many visits here with dozens of different people, I've noticed first-timers always react the same way when trying one of chef Teng's best dishes. Their eyes open wide, and the head starts slowly shaking side-to-side, and then I hear grunts of mmm! or wow! I mean really, it never fails to be a wonderful surprise for everyone. But don't get me wrong, not everything on the menu is a home run. For example, some of the Asian fusion dishes such as Pad Thai or Mango Chicken are just weird. So even though there are some things to overlook here, such as no lunch service, or the cafeteria style vibe, If you choose some of the chef's best dishes, for sure that flavor bomb is going to hit you right in the mouth, and you'll definitely be coming back here for more. I always do.
