First and foremost, Place is not as depicted in the pictures. Menu was too long and confusing. We took lot of time to identify the dishes. Veg and Non veg Appetizers were not fresh, it was felt as served from frozen. Entree's were better but still dint felt fresh. Of all the items we ordered Chicken biryani, Dal tadka were decent. Salt lassi was very salty, couldn't even drink ( after complaint they changed it to more diluted). Most of the dishes were lacking authentic Indian food tastes. Person attending us was nice and very courteous. We were treated with free deserts and discounts. Place is little pricey for the quality of the food. Overall felt the place is overrated.

I have nothing but praise for the Cotillion! Normally if I'm eating Indian cuisine, it's some where in Queens. My experiences with Indian cuisine here on Long Island have been pretty poor. The food tends to be over priced, small quantities and lack of spice. Today I ordered the lunch special from the Cotillion and was very impressed. The portion size was large, had the perfect amount of spices and the food just tasted incredibly fresh! The fact that they include a small dessert just seals the deal! If you come here, say yes to dessert and order the Gulab Jamun!

According to its very nice manager, The Cotillion has existed in one incarnation or another for at least 60 years so it is a relief that this review will not have much impact. The Cotillion restaurant is a small and attractive space attached to a much larger catering hall.It has a large parking lot.On Tuesday, 11/22, I hosted a dinner for ten here.Upon arrival I made small talk with Mr.Manager and he made me a terrific Vodka Martini. Our group assembled and we were seated in the empty restaurant. The restaurant features a menu which reads longer than your average novel, containing not only Indian dishes, but Indian/Chinese and Thai food as well. We ordered and, after an extensive delay of nearly an hour, some appetizers arrived. The Vegetable Samosas and Spring Rolls were well received.I passed on apps and ordered two entrees instead to accompany my crisp and refreshing Taj Mahal beer.I asked Mr.Manager for his suggestions. He recommended The Cotillion Special Biryani which I chose, along with Hakka Chili Chicken to get out of my usual Chicken Tikka Masala comfort zone. The Cotillion Special was a winner, arriving as a massive mound of tasty rice with shrimp, lamb and chicken. The rice was moist and nicely cooked.I would certainly order this dish again. However, the Hakka Chili Chicken was tough and hard to eat.I took most of it home to try the next day to give it another chance to please me but I could not eat it. My fellow diners liked some of the entrees. They mentioned the Chicken Saga, the Basil Ginger Chicken and the Mango Chicken.I tasted someone else's Chicken Tikka Masala and it was meh. The biggest problem with our evening was the extreme wait for our food.We were the only people in the restaurant and the single chef that was working could not get the dishes out on a timely basis. We were not able to leave the restaurant until 9:45 p.m, not good on a work night when many diners had long drives home. The Cotillion did not meet my expectations but I would not rule out a return visit.

This is the restaurant I go to for Kerala food. Do try the other things as well, especially the mango salad.

There was absolutely nobody in the restaurant except one young lady in the front and one person in the kitchen. The young lady in front was really sweet and kind. I wanted to try something that was more authentic, so I asked her what she would eat. She recommended a specific chicken dish, and I ordered it prepared the way she would eat it, and requested very spicy. Here's what I ordered: - Chicken Karahi ($17): Recommended by the young lady named Suman! Of the two dishes I ordered, this was definitely the better dish. However, there were two issues: this dish wasn't spicy at all, even though I asked for very spicy. Also, the chicken came in big chunks, making the chicken itself very bland and not tender. Smaller pieces would have been seasoned more adequately, and this needed to be simmered for a longer time. (3/5) - Lamb Korma ($24): Not on their regular menu but they'll make it for you if asked. I've always loved this dish from other Indian restaurants, so ordered it at Luxe. Again, two issues: not spicy at all, even though I asked for very spicy, and the lamb came in huge chunks, was under seasoned, and wasn't simmered long enough; resulting in hard, huge chunks of meat. (2/5) Instead of rushing to cook these dishes, both dishes should have been simmered for a longer time. I don't mind waiting for excellent food. Rushed preparation doesn't do anyone any favors. Would I give Luxe another chance? Sure, why not. But I'll wait a little while so Luxe can overcome their growing pains; they've only been open for a few months. Good Luck and welcome to the neighborhood!

My only complaint? My stomach has a limit…read more My family and I have been coming to Diwan for years, and this is hands down our go-to spot for Indian all-you-can-eat. I used to frequent the Indian buffets in Jackson Heights, and honestly, Diwan is just as good, if not better! One thing I really appreciate is that they have their own parking lot, the dining room is spacious, and as a parent, I was thrilled to see they have baby high chairs. Those little details make a big difference. We stopped by for their weekday AYCE special at just $15 per adult, which is an incredible value! My plate always ends up looking the same because I can't resist the chicken biryani, palak paneer, and that rich, creamy butter chicken. Oh, and they mostly use chicken thighs! So tender and moist! I keep telling myself I'll try something different... then I walk back with the exact same favorites. No regrets. We also ordered the mango lassi, and it was fantastic! Just a little tip: it comes with ice by default, so if you prefer it without ice, just let them know when ordering. The food quality has been consistently excellent every time we've visited, and the service has always been warm and attentive. Another thing I enjoy is how peaceful the dining room is. It's not loud or chaotic. Everyone seems completely focused on the important business of enjoying their food. A couple of helpful tips: the buffet is dine-in only, so you can't pack up buffet food to take home. If you're ordering takeout, you'll need to order from the regular menu instead. They also offer children's pricing for the buffet, so if you're unsure about the details, just give them a quick call. If you're craving great Indian food without emptying your wallet, Diwan continues to be one of my favorite AYCE spots. Highly recommended!

Fresh puri and plenty of sauces, fresh rice and a very nice spread of Indian favorites. I really enjoyed everything they had to offer and especially the vegetarian options such as dhal and paneer. Great service and the only caveat is that any naan is purchased separately as it's not included in the ayce price. You can also just order fresh plates of any combination off their à la carte menu. We opted for the lunch buffet and were very satisfied and both price point and quality were excellent. The restaurant itself is nice with great ambiance and plenty of seating. There's also plenty of beverage options. We've been back twice already and anticipate many more visits.

Given the culinary brilliance here, if you order one of your favorites, it'll be done well, but you're better off trying something unique that might not be on the menu at your local Chinese, Indian or Thai spot. Chili tofu and basil ginger fish were two great showcases for the complex spices available here. (I'm a real American hero, I ate fourths since my parents preferred leftovers that didn't have the top spice levels). And if you're spice-adverse yet chili-curious, the honey chili potato is worth a shot. These are essentially fries. Our server, Ten, was amazing. He adeptly handled the multiple time frames of our orders and is ready to provide suggestions for those who didn't spend 40 minutes researching on Yelp. Part 2. I wish there was editing capability for older reviews. I'm a two-sentence guy - are there fish tacos, does it have strange hours of operation and will they sneer at me for wearing Kohls? - and my first Kunga Kitchen attempt was a bit extra. The hibachi table we sat at was impossibly close to the wall on the left as you walk in. In order to get into a seat you had to remove a chair to get into and seat yourself sideways onto the seat and then the next person would have to do the same. There were at best two servers for the room of six hibachi tables. Drink orders came after 20 minutes and then the children's drinks were forgotten. What was delivered was good, though. Hot sake and a sakatini paired with a beer. We felt bad because there was only one hibachi chef working and he had a full house. He did well and tried to provide good service even though he had to work non- stop. A good but not great show while we were being served. Not taking anything away from him because he really was swamped. Food was good and delivered either hot or cold and nothing to complain or rave about. One of the most "on par" meals I've had in a while. Prices were standard Long Island prices if not a few dollars per item elevated in comparison to other hibachi restaurants. Overall, fair for a decent meal.
