This restaurant is one of my favorite places in Norman, OK. The ambience, specially during Christmas time, is gorgeous. The service is fabulous. The foods are good and delicious. If you go during weekend, they have a live piano music performance. The last we went (Saturday) we had fried parabola mushrooms and artichokes dip as appetizers. For dinner I had duck and my husband had Mediterranean chicken which we enjoyed a lot. You should try their Coca Cola cake as dessert. A tradition in Sooner Country since the 1960s. This place is a like a chameleon, that can serve as a great and sunny lunch spot on game days, but a more classic and romantic dimly lit dinner spot once the sun sets. It's nice enough in here to feel like someplace classic, but not overly stuffy. Especially with college students moonlighting as servers, who are friendly and officious but also endearingly inexperienced in certain elements. The salad bar is tasty and delightfully retro, though you might need to remind them to replenish certain elements. The Mac and Cheese entree is some of the best I've had in Oklahoma, and definitely deserves the "famous" descriptor that appears on the menu. This is one of the awesome old school places that displays their house-made desserts behind glass as you enter. They'll all tempt you, to be sure. But the Coca Cola cake served warm with vanilla ice cream definitely "takes the cake" (pun intended) as far as the desserts are concerned. You'll order one with multiple spoons to share, and swiftly realize you actually needed two or more portions, it's just that good. read more

Last minute choice to visit this area favorite. The ambiance was very relaxing from the minute we walked in. The wait staff had subtle touches of Valentines on their uniforms which was nice. We were seated right away and greeted by our server, Taylor. She was professional, yet personable and seemed to know the menu well, as we had many questions. We were not sure what to get but settled on their Valentines Sweetheart special. They were able to accommodate our special dietary requests without any hesitations. The food was served at a perfect rate....so much food!...and we enjoyed it all. Everything was cooked perfect and the flavor was delicious! Came here on a spur of the moment type of situation late at night (I believe it was like 10:15 or so) and was dressed very casual (maybe a bit under dressed to be honest) but at the end of the day, if you have the money to pay the tab, that is all most people care about lol. We entered and saw a small group leaving which were all 50 somethings and seemed happy with their experience. We were greeted after a couple min by our server and asked if it was dine in (I was a bit confused by the Q. because I was not aware they had take out lol) we said yes, with a bit of a puzzled look and the server sat us right away. There were maybe 4 other tables full which shocked me to be honest because of the time and it feels like any place aside IHOP is closed at 10pm in Norman (aside possibly something with a bar as its main reason patrons are even in the establishment). On to the food: My bf ordered the wedge salad and I opted for the salad bar (mistake by me, it wasn't what I was anticipating. I felt it lacked a lot for being "famous" and a focal point for this restaurant) and a steak and I had the stuffed chicken, which for me was way too sweet and I was unable to really enjoy it. It was good, but just not what I had in mind. My bf really loved his steak though. I had a taste and it was one of the BEST steaks I have ever had. And I have had some tasty steaks. So kudos for that alone Legends! We ended our meal with their famous chocolate cake which our server butchered to death (it was half in tact and the rest was a chocolate mess piled high on the plate) but my bf is far less picky than I am and decided it did not mean a thing and proceeded to fully enjoy it. I tried it and it was quite good. The cream was the best part for me. Service was okay. Nothing to write home about but maybe next time that will change. We shall see. Overall a good experience here and I plan to return and try some of their other menu items and maybe dress up a tad more, but as stated, it was really a spur of the moment choice. 3 stars with room for a update and possibly upgrade to my rating. read more

This was our first time going to Legends and it was absolutely fantastic!! It's a date we both got steaks which was fabulous along with home fries and a baked potato. Thanksgiving meal was the best I've ever had at a restaurant. Service was warm and efficient, very accommodating! The Turkey and ham were of the highest quality and prepared perfectly. Legends is an old , comfortable dining experience in the University area. They do excellent holiday pre-fix dinners that are sold out often months in advance, and casual, upscale dining otherwise. What we found is an interesting and varied menu, and wonderful house made desserts ( always a plus in my book). Consistency is the only problem we encounter. On Valentine's Day I had an excellent duck breast with a wine and cherry reduction sauce. Just perfectly prepared. The following week met friends there for dinner and I ordered the duck again. Just lacked any flavor at all, and no sauce or such but certainly not what I'd anticipated. Most of the time it's good enough, I can't even make it to dessert. This time , I just took home the rest and got their cherry cobbler. It was just like dessert my grandma would make. It's a nice location and they often have live piano music. I love this place, but yesterday was a 3. :| Context: Lindsey Street in Norman as of the date of this review is a complete disaster zone. Not even kidding, I-35 thorough Moore was never this bad after the 2013 tornado. So Legend's is probably in a weird space lately. Lunch on a Friday. Got there right around 1130, so early side of lunch. Not one customer in the joint, but plenty of servers. We get a great table. If you don't know, Legend's has this epic 1988, but still really solid and cool, dining room. It's a special place in my opinion. They change the art, perhaps they move the plants around, but it stays true to its spirit. Intimate. Which is great. (More restaurants need plants these days.) Service: we had a wonderful young lady serving us for our meal (a fifth anniversary meal). We also had a trainee with her. No big deal there, but it really took us out of the mood to hear all the teaching. Service overall, while not highly sophisticated, was highly attentive. 4/5 there. Drinks: as it was a special event, we had big kid bevs at lunch. The Missus had the house glass of pinot grigio. I think it was a Coppola, and she enjoyed it a lot. Thumbs up. There was not a local ale or IPA worth a damn on the list (do better, guys, call me if you need suggestions), so I ordered the Okie-brewed Prairie Bomb! Wonderful choice on the menu, but they have no clue what to do with it. I was brought a shaker pint glass (sigh) which had been frozen (triple sigh) for this nice beer. They had no idea what temperature this beer needed. For a restaurant going for high-end, they should know. They didnt. The bar menu needs work. Food: I ordered the chicken medallions, but at $17 for the lunch plate (CHI or NY prices), I didn;t want the $2 add-on for lemon caper sauce. Seemed excessive. The Missus ordered the glazed chicken for, IIRC, a buck or two cheaper (?). What we got: the exact same pan friend chicken breast-meat-patties, but mine were dry and hers were sauced. Quality of the chicken and the cook? Exemplary. But that's part of the problem. They were non-greasy (usually amazing) but then not a thing on the outside of mine. Literally just squeezed lemon onto my $17 chicken. Sides were veggie of the day (a highlight: green beans that were very well prepared) and the saddest damn white rice you've ever seen. White. Flavorless. Hard to scoop into your utensil. Boring. If Nietzsche was a rice guy, these would be his. Or perhaps not, because only the strongest rice would be the rice that deserved to live? I digress. Legend's is legendary for their desserts. I've had them before, and they are straight money. But a thought for you: we were the first ones in the joint that morning, and several desserts were already cut through and half gone. They were not fresh made that day necessarily. Now, let's be fair: what restaurant makes every desserts fresh every single day? None. Youre going to get a better dessert here than pretty much anywhere in Norman, and maybe OKC. But it bears noting that it might not be "that day" fresh. I love Legend's. I love the concept. But I have to say, it's time for the most mild of updates. Get a real bar program. Benevenuti's and Scratch completely annihilate this bar program, and it doesnt have to be that way. Focus on real service over college kids, or at least train those kiddos. Love you Legend's, I want you to be grand. read more

This place has really dropped off! Shrimp Cocktail 1/3 of the size. Served without base plate. Wedge salads serviced with core of lettuce used on both salads. Bacon on salads was old and hard! Sea Scallops $23 for three Scallops used to be 4 or 5 for this price! Lamb chops $32 for 3 very small Chops, maybe 3 ounces of meat! What a joke! Ice tea was watered down! Service was a 2! Had to ask for everything! When you pay $95 for two people without cocktails you expect 5 star! This place is cutting in all areas. The two deserts we had for $7 a piece were a joke. They we so small and pitiful and over microwaved, almost sent it back. I think they have a child Managing this place now and she is not watching what is coming out of the kitchen! We are guests here once a month and if we don't receive a comp meal from the manager, the way it used to be, we won't be back! There is a new Ranch Steak house being built on 24th ST near Crest Market. If Legend's does not wake up they will be out of business! I thought it was strange to see only 4 tables being full at 7:30pm on a Saturday night! Now I know why! Very sad that greed has set in this place and they will Pay the price in the end! I will drive 45 min to go to Mahogany's at Quail Springs and get a real FINE DINNING EXPERIENCE before I go through this again at Legends, not fine dinning/ only high costs restaurant! Years ago, my sister, mother, and I had brunch at Legends and we were underwhelmed. A month ago, we tried again with brunch and we were all BLOWN away! The food, ambiance, and service were all fantastic. A few weeks later, my fiancé and I returned with his family for dinner and had an equally fantastic experience! Our server both times was Gioni? Not sure on spelling but he was attentive and informative without behind over the top. He explained the specials in great detail, and on the brunch experience we had to order the broccoli and beer cheese soup after he recommended it, and it was amazing. The salad bar has fantastic and unique options ( pickled onions, cous cous, alfalfa sprouts-YUM!) and their house dressing was good, creamy with a bit of tang to it. The lobster Benedict was DELICIOUS, and the grits served with it were so so so good. I almost asked to substitute breakfast potatoes as I've never been a fan of grits, but I am SO glad I didn't because these were insanely good! For dinner, the scallop dish on their seasonal menu was one of the best I've ever had and I'm picky about scallops. These were perfectly cooked, not overdone but buttery and flavorful. The brunch mimosas are amazing, but the star of it all was the chocolate cake with some kind of creamy vanilla deliciousness inside. We will definitely be back and request Gioni again!! read more

Tiny parking lot, this place has a pretty 80s/Irish feel to it, some of the decoration is updated but for the most part it brings you back in time a little. In another friends opinion, at least it's very consistent. They don't have the biggest most extravagant menu and it's not super unique, but they offer a lot of common foods people generally like and they do it pretty well. Their salad bar is a bit boring but still good for what it is. The dessert selection is pretty good though, I'll need to ask if they're made fresh daily or not. I ordered the legends burger, it was very good. Just your typical burger though. I feel cheated on the fries. I had 6 fries, granted each one took 4 bites but I still had to ration it to my burger size. Meat was cooked great though. We have been coming for years and Legends' is consistently great. We have also always had great service, even when we booked a last minute reservation on a very busy Friday night last weekend. We love the salad bar, which is offered with each entree, or you can get on its' own. We also always order the artichoke dip. The seasonal special bone marrow tenderloin is delicious - we are hoping that they make it a staple on the menu! Brunch is also great, be sure to get the chive scones that they provide at the beginning of the meal, they are to die for. Overall, great food and service, would highly recommend.
