    Large Shrimp & Catchfish Combo
    Monica R.

We were really pleased with our visit to The Catch last night! The bright blue walls were a warm welcome sight once it was so chilly last night. My husband and I both got the shrimp and fish combo. It was so hot when they brought it to us we had to let it cool. The fish was light, crispy, and very clean. The shrimp was so so big! Probably around extra large size. It was fried basically perfect. The tartar sauce was not my favorite but satisfactory. I had the red beans and rice. It was seasoned perfectly for my taste with a small amount of heat. The sausage was a very pleasant addition in the beans. My husband thought they could have used more salt. My hard to please children also really like their fish! We will definitely be back to eat here in the future.

The food was decent, the crab/shrimp boil was mediocre. The service wasn't really that good and I think the cashier lied about their crab cakes being made in house, unprovoked. Te ambiance is okay spacious but super cold inside. Also got a cup of red beans and gumbo both was alright. Nothing to write home about

    Catfish po boy and fries.

I had a late lunch at The Catch on a Thursday. Since it was past 2 there was only 1 other person seated in the place. They cooked my meal fresh, so it took a bit, but it wasn't too long. This was during the COVID pandemic, and they were doing a good job of keeping the place clean. Some seats were closed to allow for distancing, all employees had masks, and I saw several people come wipe down surfaces, even if they hadn't been touched since the last time they were wiped down. I went with the catfish po boy, fries, and a cup of red beans and rice. The food was not out immediately, which is a good thing as they prepared it fresh. But, it also didn't take too long. It was definitely fresh, so hot I had to give it a minute. The catfish was fried well and had that classic cornmeal crust. It needed a bit of salt, but other than that it was a solid piece of fish. The bread, on the other hand, wasn't great. It was a cheaper loaf and flimsy. I wish they had a more substantial (and flavorful) bun, as the sandwich basically fell apart. I would get the catfish again, but maybe not in po boy form. The fries were beer battered and good, but nothing to write home about. You've had similar fries at other joints. The red beans and rice was slightly soupier than I prefer but the flavor was strong. I added some hot sauce but that was it. Probably the best dish of the meal. The Catch did not blow me away on my first visit but they did enough right for me to come back and try something else. I look forward to trying them again.

Cup of Gumbo (a few bites already taken before photo. Sorry. Not sorry, I couldn't wait! Lol)

Being from Houston & visiting Louisiana often, I'd say this place is definitely on par if you enjoy really great Cajun food!!! Since it was in season I had the crawfish boil (extra spicy) along with a cup of gumbo & both absolutely hit the spot & were delicious!!!

This place was not good. I order the lemon butter crab boil and received a plate full of lemon butter with my potatoes and corn and crab just thrown on top. Usually with a boil it would be taken from a bag and it be steamed and melted butter with seasonings. The butter in my plate was so thick I thought it was scrambled eggs! Everything was ice cold as well. The lemon butter seasoning was so over powering it burned with every bite it literally hurt my jaw. I didn't take a photo of the meal but after the fact to show all the butter!! I learned that if I want a good boil I'll go to Pier 88 next time.

While this steak wasn't quite as impressive, it was a bit tougher than I'd hoped, the flavor was still phenomenal, with a great smoky, straight-off-the-grill taste. Our server, Gracie, was fantastic: friendly, helpful, and accommodating to our large party. We ordered several appetizers and enjoyed most of them, though the cornbread was noticeably dry according to several people at the table. The coconut pineapple margarita was a standout and well worth ordering. The tropical flavors were delicious, and the coconut rim was a great touch. I also loved my salad, especially the tomatoes, which were surprisingly flavorful. For my entrée, the steak was cooked well and paired nicely with the mashed potatoes. Although the texture kept it from matching my first visit, it was still very enjoyable. One thing we really enjoyed was the atmosphere. We were seated in a room toward the back near the wine cellar, adjacent to a pond outside. It ended up being a great spot because we could watch people enjoying the outdoor area throughout the evening. The restaurant struck a nice balance, it felt upscale and welcoming without being overly quiet. Our group was able to be a little loud and goofy without feeling out of place, which made the experience even more fun. What ultimately secured the five-star rating was dessert. I can't remember its name, but it's pictured in the photo. It was enormous and absolutely incredible, one of the best desserts I've ever had and the perfect ending to the meal. Overall, I would absolutely recommend this restaurant. The steak wasn't quite as tender as I remembered, but the excellent service, great drinks, solid appetizers, enjoyable atmosphere, and outstanding dessert made for a wonderful experience.

Another person in my group also ordered the Wagyu steak, and we both felt the same way--it was not good at all. For a $51 steak, I expected excellent quality, but instead it tasted like something you could buy at a dollar store. I ended up leaving hungry because I couldn't bring myself to eat it. I do want to recognize the staff. Our server was a very polite young man who provided excellent service, and the hostess was welcoming and hospitable. In the end, my bill was around $60 because I decided to splurge on myself today. It's disappointing to spend that much money only to end up wasting it on a steak I couldn't eat. I truly hope the restaurant takes another look at the quality of its Wagyu steak because it did not live up to its price.

Really big menu with lots of options. No photos so be sure to ask the server if you don't know what something is. They're pretty friendly and we went with a group of regulars so it was a riotously good time. Salad - average, not much to write home about. Spezi rum cocktail - Spezi is a German orange cola soda. Yummy! Rainbow trout - Pan fried for a good crisp edge but still buttery and juicy and oh so good. Very flavorful fish and a very generous portion, they gave me 2 filets which is kind of crazy. The rice is also very delicious. Spaeztl - served with butter and brown gravy as a side. They also have an entree version with cheese but I liked the simplicity of this version. Nice depth to the gravy and good texture on the noodles with a bit of springy bite. Not my favorite but decent. Chocolate dessert wine - a shot glass of not too sweet chocolate dessert wine that made me want to get more into dessert wine. Bread pudding - some kind of bread pudding dessert that was enormous and creamy and delicious and best shared with a few people after the giant meal we all had.
