This was my first time in Oklahoma, and I was craving breakfast. I searched Google for the best restaurants near my hotel and decided on Granny's Kitchen. They have two locations, but I chose the one with the higher ratings. It was a little out of the way, but it was absolutely worth it. I took an Uber from my hotel, which was about a 15-minute drive. When I arrived around 12:15 p.m., I walked inside and the restaurant was quiet as a mouse. I was immediately greeted and seated at a table by the bar. A few moments later, my waiter, Gunner, came over and gave me a great recommendation. I was originally going to order an apple mimosa, but he suggested the Peach Bellini instead--and he was absolutely right! It had the perfect amount of sweetness, and it even came with edible glitter, which I had never seen before. It was such a cute and unique touch. Gunner was incredibly hospitable, kind, and attentive, not just to me but to all of his customers. The staff was very small--just three employees working hard to take orders and serve food and drinks--and they handled everything so well. My friend (visiting from Oregon) and I came in to Granny's Kitchen in Yukon for the first time yesterday. (We were seeing each other for the first time in 40 years! We both grew up in OKC, then both moved away to different parts of the Pacific Northwest. I'm very happily back now, and she was passing through.) This place totally served our needs. We were able to sit at a little distance from other customers so we could chat it up comfortably (and laugh and cry remembering times past with a little privacy), we were offered the first-timers' cinnamon rolls (which yay and yum and thank you!), and we enjoyed big plates of reasonably-priced down-home food (plenty to bring home and not have to cook later). Our friendly server Kourtney was just the right amount of attentive, checking in to be sure each thing she brought us was what we wanted, and staying available for us to call over for anything. We ordered the chicken fried steak and a country skillet, and both were excellent. The chicken fried steak was a huge portion and cooked just right, and the skillet was packed with flavor. We had our complimentary first time customers cinnamon roll, we both generally just like the centers of cinnamon rolls, but granny's was devoured by us. There was none left. I'm super picky about my gravy (Grandma spoiled me for life!), and I was happy to find I didn't need to add salt or pepper to my gravy here. The service was great. All the staff were very friendly. We took a while to place our order, and there was no push to hurry. The atmosphere is a comfortable mix of homey diner and sports bar. Not sure how they pulled that off, but I liked it.
