I used to live nearby Lee's Wok, and considering that I live in the city, sometimes you need to find nearby places that you can either walk to or deliver, especially during those frozen days in the winter. Which brings me to Lee's Wok...an Americanized Chinese restaurant in Uptown. Now, being Chinese, I must say that I do get my cravings for americanized Chinese food once in a while. This is spectacular Chinese restaurant! Family run, this restaurant has a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. This is the go-to place for my partner and me when we want takeout Chinese food. Our favorite dishes are the combination Egg Foo Young and the Sweet and Sour Pork. Each bite of each dish is a delicious morsel to be savored. The other day at work I was craving for Chinese Food and I was sick of going to the same place we always go to. It is not because the food is bad but I was just in the mood to try a new place. So I did a quick search on Yelp (Of Course) of the Chinese Carry Outs around my area and Lee's Wok was one that came up. And since this was a hop and skip away I couldn't help but it a try. My exceptions were low since it is always hit and miss with Chinese Carry Out but I was pleasantly surprised with this location. The food was good! The service was nice! They are quick! This is purely a takeout place. 3.5 stars if I could. The service is very fast; I've never had to wait more than 10 minutes for my food. And I've never had them not get an order right, which is great. They have plenty of lunch specials and plenty of dinner specials. The food is pretty good, not great, but not bad. I've never been disappointed, but I've never been wowed. If you're in the mood for really fast Chinese food that you don't really have to think about too much, and your expectations aren't too high, this is the place for you. I have ordered from Lee's Wok a few times over the past three years. This past year it seems as if they have given up or have cut corners to the extent that they have compromised quality. My last order was my last order without a doubt. I stressed on the telephone that I do not want green pepper in any of my food, I must have repeated it four times. The order taker repeated it back to me, no green pepper. Sweet and sour chicken arrived with a sauce that was right out of a jar or can, it was so thick that the pineapple and green peppers I didn't want were suspended in the sauce that I thought it was jello. I ordered and paid for soup, it wasn't in my order. The chicken was heavily battered that there was more batter than there was chicken. Sesame chicken had absolutely no flavor at all. Egg rolls have always been consistently good as well as the Mongolian Beef. There are many other choices in the neighborhood, do yourself a favor and skip this place. read more

If you like undercooked Chinese food then this is the place to be! The sweet and sour sauce is thick cold gelatin that tastes toxic. They didn't even heat it up. It's like they just pulled it out of the fridge. I will never be ordering from here again. There are also dead bugs all over the counter. And the place is so hot it's disgusting waiting in there. I felt like she was definitely rushing me to make my order. Anyway, long story short I tried their, general Tso chicken, and it was just flavorless and awful. I love chinese food. I think I am msg deficient and have to take my chinese at least 4 times a week. That might seem like a financial hurdle but it really isn't since I always buy a lunch or a dinner special with is recession priced at under 6$ for pepper steak with tomato, shrimp fried rice with green onions and bean sprounts, eggroll, soda all for under 6$. and if you happen to miss your bus and order at 3:01, its just a dollar more for the dinner special...and it tastes good to boot. If you're looking to get riped off or ill, this is the place for you. I ordered the orange chicken, after a few pieces I started thinking that I wasn't tasting or getting a hint of chicken. I started cutting open pieces and one after another was just breading, deep-fried and rolled in sauce... there was no chicken in my orange chicken. I later got ill from little I ate of it. You should also not buy egg rolls from them. I live near Lee's Wok, so often times proximity is the major factor in choosing to eat there instead of walking to another Chinese place or getting delivery. This isn't a place to dine in at, they only have a smallish counter -- and I've never seen anyone eating there, just waiting for carry-out. As for the food, it ranges from meh to good. They have your standard take-out menu, nothing fancy or exciting. Their Chicken with Black Bean is pretty good. I am personally not a fan of General Tso's Chicken, Orange Beef/Chicken, or Sweet and Sour anything but when I've tried other people's they've tasted okay. They seem to use a lot of pre-prepared sauces (like a lot of places do) and it can really kill the dish if it isn't to one's taste, the ones here tend to the sweeter kinds. Their portion size is usually larger than I can eat in one setting, but they have a small size which is perfect with a small soup. One note of specific caution their "Empress Chicken" is not like some higher-quality places, the chicken is more thickly breaded, more like a chicken nugget and comes with sauce to pour over, like Hung Sue chicken. (If you like that sort of thing, order that instead, the sauce is better). The only other thing I've noticed that affects the quality is that fried items are pretty greasy.
