Better late than never with this backdated review--life has just been lifing!…read moreI finally made it to Artemis on July 22nd after fiending to go since January. There's actually a hilarious story behind why I went. I was originally supposed to have a date that night, but let's be real: you'd think a 61-year-old man would know better than to take a 47-year-old woman to Dave & Buster's. I canceled the night before, dolled myself up the day of, and decided to take myself out instead. Best decision ever. The joint is dimly lit. But your eyes wind up adjusting. It's got a great vibe. Definitely excellent for a date night. The bartenders here are absolute rockstars. I started with a Painkiller. Even though it's no longer on the menu, they whipped it up for me anyway--and hey, it definitely relieved my pain, lol! Next, I tried a Corpse Reviver just because it had absinthe in it. It was different, but I really enjoyed it. Naturally, I had to finish with my signature drink, a Cosmopolitan, because I am the Black Carrie Bradshaw of Long Island. And it did not disappoint. The eats: I got the charcuterie board--fancy and bougie, just like me--and wrapped up the night with the brownie à la mode for dessert. Drowning my troubles in sweets is a must when the Long Island dating pool is an absolute wasteland, lmao. Did I want to spend my night around teenagers, kids, and skee-ball? HELL NO! I wanted a grown-and-sexy speakeasy vibe, and Artemis delivered. 5/5 stars--would 100% recommend!

It's got that intimate, speakeasy vibe that makes it feel a little different from your typical bar. The cocktails are creative, unique, and really well made. It's fun trying something new each time. My only minor complaint is that the menu can be a little difficult to read, especially in the dim lighting. Other than that, it's a fantastic spot for cocktails and a night out. I'll definitely be back!

Excellent job!! We sat at the bar for lunch and the Executive Chef greeted us and engaged us in conversation about the menu! We learned about his favorite dishes and how he locally sources premium oysters directly from oyster farmers! He knew them by name! Wow! Can you say "farm to table" fast enough! Nothing better than knowing the source! A++++ on sourcing local fresh products and engaging customers! Way to show you are passionate and dedicated to providing the best experience! We had fried olives, quite good and unique! Served in a Martini glass with some dipping sauce. A must try! A great accompaniment to one of their craft martinis! We also had the spicy tuna app. That was very good as well. Beautifully plated, flavorful and Asian-Fusion style. Recommended! We split a classic French Dip Sandwich, The bread was perfect! No skipping there! Classic French Baguette, slightly crispy crunch and perfect interior to soak up the right amount of the French Dip without becoming soggy! It also has horse radish dipping sauce on the side! Mmmmm! It had caramelized onions beautifully sliced slow cooked flavorful rib eye! All the right flavors! Probably one of the best French Dips around! Oh I gotta mention the thick crinkle cut chips! So many places fumble by putting just any commercially available fries or starch on the side of the plate. No fumbles at Magnolias! Seems they hand cut thick crinkle cut chips and fried them perfectly so the outside was crisp and the thick inside was soft and tender! Perfect!!! My Martini was a "Caprese Martini". Mozzarella fat washed, with mild olive oil and Basil flavors. Made right in front of us! Served chilled! Garnished with fresh mozzarella, basil, and tomato! Um perfect! Oh, forgot to mention, they have a super price fix lunch menu! Hard to beat! We will return again and again! After this experience, Magnolias is now on our list as one of our favorite South Shore spots! Cant wait to return! Highly recommended! Great Martinis! Fabulous eclectic tapas style menu! Bravo Magnolias!

Folks beware, there is nothing sweet about this Jane! The bartenders (if that's what we're calling…read morethem) moved with the quiet hostility of people who have abandoned empathy. I made eye contact with one and immediately felt like I had interrupted something deeply unpleasant. I ordered the house special. One sip in and I knew this was not a beverage. It tasted like a soggy shoebox dusted with expired glitter, with subtle undertones of something medically concerning. Before I could even put the glass down, my left ear began to vibrate like a shifting tectonic plate. I tried to stand up, but my legs had decided they were no longer on speaking terms with my torso. I eventually had to crawl out the establishment like a disgraced salamander. My skin still tastes like lead and the lights gave me a migraine in a color that doesn't exist. I found that odd but okay, we went with breakfast as some of our party didn't love the lunch menu. I got the avocado toast and the bread wasn't toasted? That was disappointing and honestly made the slice soggy. Nothing was seasoned except the potatoes, so the avocado and eggs were in desperate need of salt and pepper. I feel like when you order this kinda meal there's at least flavor to the mashed avocado. The potatoes were pretty good. Service was fast but almost felt like they weren't on the same page, but it's a beach town with kids working so you give a little leniency.

We started with three appetizers to share: the golden meatballs, the baked clams and the fried artichokes. All three were absolutely delicious. I chose ricotta cavatelli bolognese as my entree. It was rich and meaty and silky - something I'd definitely order again. I also tried my sister's autumn pizette, one of the specials. Thin crisp crust, thinly sliced squas, sausage, cheese and a drizzle of fig glaze. A perfectly composed fall dish. Everyone else enjoyed their meals (spaghetti & meatballs, veal parm, chicken française, and spaghetti with seafood.) We shared two desserts - tiramisu was just as I like it, moist but not wet with all the flavors melding into something greater than their individual parts. The tricolor cake was a slice of rainbow cookie, dense and decadent. Our server Michaela was charming and efficient. The atmosphere was sophisticated yet relaxed. Overall, a five star experience.

The spaghetti was flavorful, and the tiramisu was light, fluffy, and a great way to end the meal. The service was good, the food was satisfying, and I'd definitely recommend checking this place out if you're in the area.

The Brixton is a beautiful restaurant with very relaxed and casual vibes. The word around town is that their drinks are awesome. What about their food, though? They originally would not seat us in the middle of the afternoon because most of the empty tables were reserved. We had to request to sit outside, which was empty, before they decided to serve us. Odd that they did not even offer that to us. The General Tso' Cauliflower was the only great thing served to us. It is incredibly crispy and flavorful. You almost forgot that you were eating a piece of vegetable at times. The Short Rib Brisket Sesame burger was shocking. $18 for two White Castles-sized sliders. It was easily consumed, and I was left much to be desired. This is most definitely an appetizer item, not an entree. The Chicken Waffle was good. Nicely deep-fried and packs a lot of flavor. The waffle looked dubious. If I had to guess, it might not be mad fresh to order. Essentially, it's 3 drumsticks/wings over a possibly frozen Eggo waffle. I would recommend a second dish if you are looking to get full. The Steak frites and Eggs Benedict were the final dishes served. It is hard to mess these dishes up, but the ribeye was nicely seasoned and cut up. The dishes were nicely displayed. Overall, this is just an OK experience. When the deep-fried cauliflower appetizer is the most memorable dish here, it is quite alarming. Portion sizes are on the small end, and none of the flavors for the entrees really stuck out. Perhaps I will come here strictly for the drinks next time.

Absolutely loved Bayberry! A perfect brunch spot!…read more What a gem! We stopped at Bayberry for brunch between our boys' soccer games, and it was absolutely perfect! The restaurant is beautiful, warm, and inviting, with such a lovely atmosphere. It's located in a charming downtown area filled with restaurants and shopping, but Bayberry was exactly what we were looking for. I ordered the lemon blueberry Dutch baby, and oh my goodness, it was AMAZING! Beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. My husband enjoyed the chicken club, while our boys ordered chicken tenders from the kids' menu. Speaking of the kids' menu, how adorable is this?! It was presented as a sail on a little wooden sailboat! Such a thoughtful and creative touch. The kids' portions were just right, and the prices were very reasonable, especially considering the quality of the food and the overall experience. The staff was friendly and welcoming, the restaurant was beautifully maintained, and even the bathrooms were gorgeous! Another plus was the ample street parking, which made our visit that much easier. Bayberry checked all the boxes for us: delicious food, beautiful ambiance, great service, and a family-friendly experience without sacrificing a more elevated dining atmosphere. Would absolutely recommend and happily return!

The place is very nicely decorated and exudes an upscale but unpretentious vibe. I ordered a glass of the pinot noir which was tasty and at $6 a nice bargain. I got the chickpea fries and was surprised by the texture. It was almost custard like with a slight chickpea flavor in a very light breading. Served with the harissa aioli it made for a nice app. After a while I decided to try the Filet mignon sliders, which I ordered medium rare, the bartender said they don't usually take a temp on those but he'd note it. The meat is sliced very thin but was tender and still had a bit of red. The arugula gave it a nice peppery bite. My only critic is the slider roll was very cottony, but the overall taste was very good. I'll definitely be back and will try something off the regular menu.

There's a huge parking lot in the back, as well as some street parking out front. When we arrived, we were promptly seated, and there's a good amount of tables as well as a lot of seating at the bar, and the bar was beautifully decorated. For the two of us, we definitely spoiled ourselves for dinner. We ordered focaccia, the Insalata Ghibellina aka lettuce salad with pumpkin seeds, as well as Negroni cocktails. And then we also shared the grilled artichoke (Carciofi allá Piastra) with our pasta dishes. I got the pasta special, which was pumpkin ravioli in a sage butter sauce, and that came with parmesan on the side without me even needing to ask for it. My husband got the pistachio ravioli (Cappellacci al Pistacchio). I loved my dish, and his was not bad either, but his was definitely heavier than mine. I'm sad that mine was only a seasonal special, because I would definitely go back to eat it many more times. For dessert, we ordered the Dolcetti e Vin Brulé Freddo) which was nice and not too heavy.
