Service was fantastic. 2-3 people were taking care of us at all times. Cute little restaurant with nice outdoor seating. Food was great!

We found this on Yelp. Chosen in post because it was close to our hotel (0.3 miles.) Food- so delicious. We haven't had bad food in Rome, but we loved it! House wines, both red and white, were wonderful. I couldn't stop raving about the white- my husband was shushing me!! When we asked our server if the tonarelli ragu bianca was good, he just chuckled a bit. "Yes, of course!" (It WAS!) What really made our night was the staff. When we asked about the wine, the older gentleman brought out the bottle and poured the rest into my glass. He was so funny- reminded me of an Italian Mr. Bean. Thank you for a wonderful dinner and evening!

Fantastic place! Beautiful inside, great food and better service. I had the Saltimbocca and my wife had the amatriciana - we shared a Suppli - all were amazing. Would definitely recommend and would definitely return again!!

O.M.G. This place was recommended to us by our Airbnb host. Actually, we stayed right next door to this place and at first, was hesitant to try out the food. My husband and I ended up really enjoying it! Right from the get-go, we knew this had a "homey" vibe to it, more so than any place we ate at in Rome. It had locals eating here, even a whole family was seated behind us. The seafood was fresh, and very delicious, and they offer English printed menus. I highly recommend the Tiramsu as dessert' The first night, we ordered calamari with fried shrimp, risotto and some pasta with seafood cooked in oil, garlic and parmesan. The food was very delicious! The server was pretty young and we asked him to order wine for us but he did not disappoint! Both times that we went here, the wines went perfectly with our meal. Overall this was our favorite place in Rome, and it became our last dinner in this city. We're already looking forward to the next time we visit, so we can have more food!

Good place to try italian pasta. The lasagna was the best. The staff is super friendly. Average price per person $17 (plate + shared antipasto)

My mom wanted to try this restaurant after reading about this from one of her Chinese travel blogs. It's a bit of a trek away from most downtown Rome attractions (we found this out the hard way). When we got to Le Caveau around 6:30 pm on a weekday, it was mostly empty. The owner of the restaurant, a very kind old man, was our waiter and he suggested his favorite dishes on the menu. In fact, the overall service of Le Caveau was one of the best we ever had. We initially ordered the €35 seafood tasting menu and the €23 meat tasting menu. The dishes were all delicious, especially the seafood ones. My standouts include the shrimp risotto, pasta with clams, panna cotta (on fire!), and homemade tiramisu. However, my biggest complaint is that portions were quite small. We ended up also ordering a mushroom pizza to supplement dinner. Overall a good dinner experience, but the prices were a bit too steep in comparison to the food we got.

We stumbled upon this restaurant what the one we had originally planned to go to was closed. Not sorry that we did, it was excellent! Such a nice surprise. We had the deep fried zucchini flowers, a Barolo fried steak and seafood taglionini, as well as a tomato salad side and tiramisu. Everything was lovely, fresh and perfectly cooked. The steak was so tender and the sauce was delish. Highly recommend this spot!

We are in town for a few days, from New York. This was a definitely hidden gem. It's right around the corner from where we are staying at. We did the tasting menu for €35 which isn't bad at all. Our waiter was very accommodating. His name was Juliano. An elder man, who we did not catch his name, perfectly selected a bottle of white wine called frescati. He said it was made about 20 miles from that very area. It paired PERFECTLY with our meal!!! Light and crisp, not sweet nor bitter, it was just perfect! We enjoyed our experience very much so! Very nice people and awesome, delicious, a must try food they have! highly recommended! The appetizer was fried calamari, which was lightly battered. Some grilled calamari in a red sauce, which we BOTH LOVED. Seafood salad. Mussels that were perfectly marinated! Our guest was white wine, butter, and some secret ingredient that made it super tasty! And let me not forget the fresh oysters also which I didn't get to take a photo off since my boyfriend devoured it as soon as it arrived on the table! Also our waiter gave us a in house shot which was a housemade he said. "Grappa of plum with calabrese"

This restaurant was right around the corner of my Airbnb and it was the perfect little dinner spot!! Even though it's on a busy street they've blocked it with a pretty terrace covered in vines and they've strung twinkle lights everywhere to make it really pretty!! Everyone was super friendly and I felt very comfortable. I ordered the bruschetta miste (4 different kinds) and fiori di zucca (fried zuchinni flowers). The four bruschetta were artichoke, nduja, tomato and cheese with anchovies. Very good all around!! Super great place!!

Great sea food and even better service! All ingredients are fresh and full of flavor. If you are lucky they will offer their homemade drink - plum favored Grappa! What a treat!

Very Disappointing Experience - Osteria da Fortunata, Pantheon Location…read more We have visited Rome several times and have eaten at Osteria da Fortunata della Cancelleria on Via della Cancelleria. During our previous visits, we had excellent experiences with both the food and the customer service, which is why tonight's experience was especially disappointing. We ordered the carbonara and spaghetti, and unfortunately, the pasta was undercooked, very chewy, and cold. It was not at all the quality we had experienced during our previous visits. When we asked the waiter to take the carbonara back because it was not edible, his attitude was extremely disappointing. Rather than offering to replace the dish or addressing our concern professionally, he told us that the manager had approved it and that we could simply take the food home. What made the experience even worse was the atmosphere of this location. The restaurant felt more like a factory than an authentic Italian dining experience. We noticed the staff using walkie-talkies to communicate with the host, and as soon as customers left their tables, the waiter would communicate with the host to immediately send new customers in to fill the space. It gave us the impression that the priority was turning tables over as quickly as possible rather than providing guests with a pleasant dining experience. The constant rush was noticeable and took away from what should have been an enjoyable meal in Rome. It is very unfortunate because we have visited Osteria da Fortunata several times in the past and genuinely enjoyed both the food and the service. Tonight, however, the cold and poorly cooked pasta, the attitude of the waiter, and the rushed, factory-like atmosphere made this a very disappointing experience.

Our hotel manager had suggested another restaurant, but I was apprehensive to try, but did later, more on that restaurant review in it's own post. I rather did what I should have done throughout the trip to, which is to search google for local reviews. This tactic I found to be much better than to trust American reviews for restaurants to visit from Youtube or even here, just because the American touristy taste tends to favor bland or Olive Garden style pseudo Italian. The real Italian taste is much different and something one needs to develop. I was familiar with European Italian food, as I had said before in other reviews that Mexico has better Italian food outside of Italy. Additionally, the good restaurants here in Italy do not open before 7 PM. If it does or if someone that looks foreign to Italy is outside trying to lure you in, it's a tourist restaurant with iffy flavor. At this restaurant my husband had the Lobster pasta and I had the spinach/ricotta ravioli, and we both were beyond satisfied. We also had the artichoke as an appetizer, and trusted the waiter with his suggestion for a bottle of wine. He must have been some genius because the wine went well with our meal. The ambience was cozy and very family oriented, however, the rain outside made it romantic for us. Another key point for this restaurant and it traditional flare was that they brought out the olive oil and red vinegar for our salad and of course olive oil for our wonderful home-made bread. I'm so glad we chose this place for those of us Americans who understand culinary cuisine.

Being new to Rome, and having walked 20k steps on our first day, there are an abundance of options a for dining. We wanted something classically Rome nearby to our hotel. The Yelp review of this restaurant was sufficiently positive to entice us. Being American, we appreciate the earlier-than-customary dining options. We arrived at 6pm without a reservation. We were seated immediately. The restaurant is intimate and very well staffed. The wood fire oven is front-and-center and the fresh mozzarella is prominent in display. We ordered a bottle of wine ... all options are very fairly priced. This is nice. We started with a Greek salad to share. It was unlike any American Greek salad ... and a really delight. It is early June but the tomatoes and peppers were ripe and crisp and really fresh. My wife ordered the Marguerite pizza; I opted for the Gorgonzola pizza (the effusive review on Yelp was compelling). Both were solid. We appreciate the thin crust and the crisp edged. The center of both, however, was doughy and somewhat undercooked. Looking around ... the restaurant was over 50% full even at this early hour. Most were Americans. We saw a good number of diners with pasta dishes ... and none were left unfinished. Sadly, we don't have any comparisons to weigh (yet). So, I cannot affirm any "best of" citations, it this is certainly a solid trattoria/pizzeria. The staff are attentive and the food served hot and fresh.
