The smiles from the staff was infectious. The food was great. I got the breaded veal. My wife got the braised veal. Also I got the oxtail meatball. My food was quite tasty. Dessert my wife got the fruit explosion and I got the mousse. Very good. This was our last night in Rome

Really nice little restaurant with outdoor seating and a wine-cellar ambiance indoors. Above average if not stunning food. Came here for a work dinner after a long day and had very nice meal seated in a corner inside where we felt like were in nice cellar space. The white wine we had drank almost like water, but yummier and two bottles disappeared easily among the six of us. I got the the tuna nachos with jalapeños, which were different and delicious. Raw tuna is always amazing and the spice from the jalapeños and the crunch from the chips just really worked and made this meal stand above most of the other good Italian meals I had while I was in Rome. I also got the octopus because I love octopus, but you don't get to have it very often except when you're in Italy. Sadly, this octopus was more than a bit over-cooked. I still enjoyed it, but it was tough. Still, I think I'd come back and just order a few different things.

Very classy and clean atmosphere. Service was great, at the time we were the only ones there. A must order are the pulled pork tacos...my nephews ordered 4 plates of them! Grilled octopus was so far the best seasoned octopus I've had from this trip (I traveled from France to Italy, 20 days). My brother got their beef filet and he finished the entire plate (he rarely finishes everything unless it's absolutely cooked to perfection). Oysters were really clean and fresh. Overall it was a great dinner experience in Rome. It's 4 stars because they took a pretty long time to serve us our dinner plates (majority of us ordered pasta dishes).

I liked the vibe. However, the eggplant parmesan appetizer was not quite what I expected. The meatball dish I had was good. They upcharge for water and bread and the quality of the food doesn't make up for that.

This restaurant was a short distance from the Westin hotel and had a large outside seating area along the sidewalk. We didn't have a reservation but were able to seat us right away. The pulled pork tacos were very tasty as an appetizer. The fettuccine with tomato sauce was tasty as well as the cacio e Pepe which is a pasta with cheese sauce with pepper and salt. Service was the typical Italian slow to give you time to drink your wine. Overall a very nice spot but the tables outside are very close to each other. They charge a service charge for bread and charge for the warm bottle of tap water like most places for tourist.

We were on our last night in Rome before heading back to Minneapolis, MN. We found a great restaurant near the W Hotel. You will definitely need to make a reservation. They almost turned us away even after showing my reservation on my phone. I know what you are thinking. How could this be a 5-star review? The rest of the evening was amazing. The outdoor seating is amazing. It is not on a busy street and it is romantic. The wine selection was top-notch, and the food selection was great. I ordered the veal, and my wife ordered the cacio e pepe. Mine was good, but her's was mind-blowing. I will never order cacio e pepe in Minneapolis again. Regarding the service, they were nice and attentive. They made our night memorable. Thank you!

This is an amazing place and it is a must when you are in Rome. Their service was on point ! Prompt and professional and yet super friendly. The food was amazing!!! My friends dined here 45 years ago during their honeymoon. 45 years later, they revisited, and to their surprise, everything was exceptional! We were welcomed with friendly staff and nice champagne! And everything we ordered was perfect!

Amazing service, location.... And of course food! Being from the states, plus the fact that this was my first ever visit to Italy, I relied heavily on the staff for recommendations for appetizers, entrees, wine and dessert. Our server at II Piccolo Mondo didn't miss a beat and really helped explain everything from wine pairing to balancing your personal tastes (savory, sweet, etc.). The chef even sent out a few samples --- given that we were newbies. I can't recommend II Piccolo Mondo enough, especially for those visiting from outside of Italy.

The bread basket was delicious served warm with amazing crust. The pasta was a tad undercooked but was the best tasting sauce ever. The melon sauce entirely new and never seen of heard of before. They took "summer melon" which I was told was cantaloupe. It was cut into 1/8 inch teeny tiny cubes and simmered for a long time until very soft and the sweetness a little washed out. It was sooo good. The braised beef was cooked to perfection, the sauce was delectable and the sides were great. The mozzarella and tomato was amazing too. Perfectly seasoned and the tomatoes were conscientiously sliced. 1000% suggest this restaurant

Our hotel manager had suggested another restaurant, but I was apprehensive to try, but did later, more on that restaurant review in it's own post. I rather did what I should have done throughout the trip to, which is to search google for local reviews. This tactic I found to be much better than to trust American reviews for restaurants to visit from Youtube or even here, just because the American touristy taste tends to favor bland or Olive Garden style pseudo Italian. The real Italian taste is much different and something one needs to develop. I was familiar with European Italian food, as I had said before in other reviews that Mexico has better Italian food outside of Italy. Additionally, the good restaurants here in Italy do not open before 7 PM. If it does or if someone that looks foreign to Italy is outside trying to lure you in, it's a tourist restaurant with iffy flavor. At this restaurant my husband had the Lobster pasta and I had the spinach/ricotta ravioli, and we both were beyond satisfied. We also had the artichoke as an appetizer, and trusted the waiter with his suggestion for a bottle of wine. He must have been some genius because the wine went well with our meal. The ambience was cozy and very family oriented, however, the rain outside made it romantic for us. Another key point for this restaurant and it traditional flare was that they brought out the olive oil and red vinegar for our salad and of course olive oil for our wonderful home-made bread. I'm so glad we chose this place for those of us Americans who understand culinary cuisine.

By the time we were seated, dozens of people were waiting behind us. We sipped an Aperol spritz and lemonade while we waited, chatting with fellow diners who raved about the restaurant. On a sweltering day, our kids were starting to struggle in the heat when the owner came outside and gave them mini pizzas breads. It was a thoughtful gesture that immediately made us feel welcome. Once seated, we ordered burrata, cacio e pepe, amatriciana pasta, pork chops, and fried artichokes. Everything was excellent, but the amatriciana was the standout--rich, savory, and unforgettable. The cacio e pepe was silky, the burrata fresh and creamy, the pork chops juicy, and the fried artichokes perfectly crisp. There's a reason people line up for Da Enzo. The food is exceptional, the atmosphere lively, and the hospitality remarkable. Without question, this was our best meal in Rome and one of our most memorable restaurant experiences.

The tomatoes were fresh and juicy but the burrata was a bit thick (referring to the outer aspect). Also the bread was a bit tough. I think you can get a very similar possibly better pasta in Rome without the wait. My girlfriend got the gnocchi pasta, which she said was a 7/10. The gnocchi was great, but again the sauce wasn't anything special Tiramisu, 10/10. This was amazing. It was sweet without being overpowering. The ladyfingers weren't soggy, and had that strong espresso taste. I would come back here just for this dessert. Also if you don't like cramped spaces, probably not the best spot. We chose this restaurant because of its outstanding trip advisor rating (4.8 stars with over 4,000…read morereviews), so we were expecting an amazing meal. Unfortunately, it ended up being one of the most disappointing meals of our trip to Rome. I want to start by saying the staff was wonderful--everyone was incredibly kind, welcoming, and attentive. We have absolutely no complaints about the service. The food, however, was very underwhelming. The Margherita pizza was undercooked, with dough that was still soft and not fully baked. The chicken dish tasted more like a simple stew and lacked flavor, and the lasagna was just average. Another red flag was that all of our food arrived within about five minutes of ordering, which made it seem like everything had been pre-made rather than freshly prepared. We rarely leave negative reviews, especially when the staff is so friendly, but we chose this restaurant specifically because of its exceptional reviews. I think it's only fair to share our honest experience so other travelers have realistic expectations. While the service was excellent, the food simply didn't live up to the reputation.

Being new to Rome, and having walked 20k steps on our first day, there are an abundance of options a for dining. We wanted something classically Rome nearby to our hotel. The Yelp review of this restaurant was sufficiently positive to entice us. Being American, we appreciate the earlier-than-customary dining options. We arrived at 6pm without a reservation. We were seated immediately. The restaurant is intimate and very well staffed. The wood fire oven is front-and-center and the fresh mozzarella is prominent in display. We ordered a bottle of wine ... all options are very fairly priced. This is nice. We started with a Greek salad to share. It was unlike any American Greek salad ... and a really delight. It is early June but the tomatoes and peppers were ripe and crisp and really fresh. My wife ordered the Marguerite pizza; I opted for the Gorgonzola pizza (the effusive review on Yelp was compelling). Both were solid. We appreciate the thin crust and the crisp edged. The center of both, however, was doughy and somewhat undercooked. Looking around ... the restaurant was over 50% full even at this early hour. Most were Americans. We saw a good number of diners with pasta dishes ... and none were left unfinished. Sadly, we don't have any comparisons to weigh (yet). So, I cannot affirm any "best of" citations, it this is certainly a solid trattoria/pizzeria. The staff are attentive and the food served hot and fresh.
