    Tonight's dinner!

What a pleasant surprise. This restaurant was next-door to the hotel we stayed at in Rome so we decided to try it out on our last night there and we are so happy we did. The ambiance was nice and our waiter was totally amazing and so personable. He helped us select our items from the menu and noted our special requests. All the food we ordered was absolutely delicious and if we were there one more night I would've gone back for another meal. I highly recommend this restaurant and hope you will enjoy it as much as we did.

Recommended by our hotel and only 500 ft away! Make a reservation if possible but will seat you if you are there when they open at 7pm. We had the fried zucchini flowers stuffed with cheese, eggplant parmigiana, homemade pasta with cheese and pepper, veal Marsala and veal saltimboca. For dessert I'm not sure of name but they make it themselves with layers of puff pastry, cream filling and chocolate. Everything was pure heaven! Would highly recommend! Off the tourist path, good prices and high quality! Sorry no food photos but we were caught up in enjoyment!

Away from the bustle of the crowded Roman streets, this place was just what we needed. We could actually hear ourselves talk, unlike our fellow patrons jabbing chosen to dine street-side at other restaurants. Inside dining was pleasant and spacious. White tablecloths and affordable prices to boot. Not another tourist was there. The pasta? Wonderful The wine? Perfect. The service - top notch. A Roman must see.

Authentic non touristy. Beautiful delicious homemade pasta and friendly multi lingual server. Ask for Valerio! He is the best!

Local restaurant with solid seafood and pasta options. We particularly enjoyed the grilled seabass - it was super fresh, perfectly grilled, and well-seasoned. Salmon was also excellent. The seafood pasta and proscuitto spaghetti was quite good as well - good sauces but pasta could be cooked a bit better - the seafood pasta was a bit too al-dente for us and the procuitto was a bit too soggy. Calamari was ok. Very friendly service - probably the best we had in Rome. Would definitely order the grilled fish dishes.

This place was a total gem to find!! I was a bit skeptical at first because we are pretty much in the city center and thought it was more of a tourist place but the food was just incredible!! We had the freshest pasta, mozzarella, prosciutto and focaccia! The wine selection was great. You've got to give this place a try. The service was so on point and was completely impressed with their attention to the two of us even though they had a pretty full house. We did the fettuccine seafood pasta and buffalo mozzarella with prosciutto to start. He had the lamb chop and I had homemade fettuccine with meatballs as our main meal. Ridiculously good.

The ending digestive - complements of the house;)

My ratings and 5 stars are rare , but well deserved if you earn them! This place is a neighborhood gem and. Must try. Our private local guide of two days suggested this establishment. Our server was so eager to please us and his English was endearing. He listened to our likes and steered us in the right direction, but wasn't pushy. We started with the homemade focaccia and it really was so different than what we get served at . Our starter was a fried platter that included zucchini - delicious !! Three of us branched out and tried a variety of dishes. First, the Salmon fettuccine pasta was unlike anything you've ever tasted. Fresh , not fishy tasting, but savory flavors without being heavy. The veal marinara was lean and had wonderful flavors. Finally , the homemade fettuccini with bacon , zucchini flowers , and pecorino cheese stole the show. Always save a little room for dessert - our server brought out a wonderful cart of homemade local favorites. We couldn't decide , so he offered to give us two desserts , but split them in 2= we essentially had 4 ways to end a meal. So we thought ;). The lemon meringue yummy, tiramisu good, but not amazing , the ricotta chocolate torte light and perfect , & the vanilla custard chocolate cream puff cake was yummy. At last , our server brought out lemoncello as a digestive with the bottle to enjoy ! Service and incredible food with people that make you feel like family : Grazie Mille!!

We were in Rome and after a couple hours spent visiting the Vatican museum on our way back to the hotel we found la cabana.im Italian so I was not really impressed about the food but I loved the fried anchovies,a bit heavy on the flower breading but tasty.the pasta was ok,not to die for but decently prepared.i enjoyed also the nonna's cake and the service was great too.

Always a favorite when in Rome. Often overlooked, because it's not on the main drag so actually relatively easy to get a table

Great portions, but overpriced and the pasta was a bit over cooked. They charged 2 euro per person for the bread. The flavor was mediocre.

When we arrived on a late afternoon, we waited about 10 minutes before getting seated. To start off, we got the Limoncello Spritz (€10) and Aperol Spritz (€10), which were refreshing. For our pasta, we ordered the Fettuccine with Oxtail (€18) and Carbonara (€17). We also wanted to order two more Secondi dishes, but the waiter warned us that the pasta is filling. After we finished the pasta, we did still order the Rabbit (€19) because it wasn't something we usually see on the menu. For the carbonara, the flavor was delicious but not really my favorite pasta shape. It was also quite al dente with a chewy texture. I have to say that the oxtail was spectacular though with its juicy and tender meat sauce. While the rabbit was nice to try once, it was a bit dry with minimal meat. Overall, good spot but nothing worth waiting too long for. Also, I'd stick to the pasta here as it's all handmade. You even see them handrolling them inside. Note that they also charge €2 per person for service fee already.

The pasta was perfectly cooked, coated in the creamiest, silkiest sauce, and the Parmesan cheese was absolutely heavenly. Simple ingredients, flawless execution. I also had the berry cheesecake, and it was just as amazing. Light, creamy, not too sweet, and the berry topping tied everything together perfectly. Pure heaven from start to finish. From the food to the experience, this place is a must when you're in Rome. I'd come back again and again without hesitation.

Our hotel manager had suggested another restaurant, but I was apprehensive to try, but did later, more on that restaurant review in it's own post. I rather did what I should have done throughout the trip to, which is to search google for local reviews. This tactic I found to be much better than to trust American reviews for restaurants to visit from Youtube or even here, just because the American touristy taste tends to favor bland or Olive Garden style pseudo Italian. The real Italian taste is much different and something one needs to develop. I was familiar with European Italian food, as I had said before in other reviews that Mexico has better Italian food outside of Italy. Additionally, the good restaurants here in Italy do not open before 7 PM. If it does or if someone that looks foreign to Italy is outside trying to lure you in, it's a tourist restaurant with iffy flavor. At this restaurant my husband had the Lobster pasta and I had the spinach/ricotta ravioli, and we both were beyond satisfied. We also had the artichoke as an appetizer, and trusted the waiter with his suggestion for a bottle of wine. He must have been some genius because the wine went well with our meal. The ambience was cozy and very family oriented, however, the rain outside made it romantic for us. Another key point for this restaurant and it traditional flare was that they brought out the olive oil and red vinegar for our salad and of course olive oil for our wonderful home-made bread. I'm so glad we chose this place for those of us Americans who understand culinary cuisine.

Seafood risotto was fresh. Grilled radicchio was like stir fried. Dinner for 3 for 77 euros, impressively busy for a Tuesday night. Friendly staff, easy for English speakers. :)
