I had the Fiori Zucca (zucchini blossoms stuffed with herbed ricotta) and ravioli carciofi burrata (artichoke mozzarella ravioli) which were both fabulous! Even with the menu disclosing that the artichoke is from frozen, I thought my meal was to die for. The sommelier was a delight to speak with and recommended a great glass of Per Eva. While staying in Rome, my husband and I had the pleasure of dining at Life... Ristorante & Wine Bar, conveniently located less than a ten-minute walk from our hotel. Our servers, Daniele and Tusher, were exceptional -- friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. Daniele recommended a bottle of Poggio all'oro - Brunello di Montalcino, and it was an excellent choice. Although the restaurant is known for its truffle dishes, we opted for other options since neither of us are fans of truffles. For appetizers, we shared the Roman Style Artichoke and Sautéed Endive with Black Olives. While I enjoyed the artichoke, I was hoping for a bit more flavor from the endive. My husband, who isn't a big fan of vegetables, didn't care for either. For our main course, we shared the Grilled Boneless Chicken, which reminded us of schnitzel. Service was excellent with Barbara as our head server. It was a busy tourist filled Wednesday afternoon and seating had looked dismal outside. Thankfully we made a reservation and we were promptly seated with A/C indoors. We each ordered a different truffle tasting menu (fresh and truffle oil). Both menus were exceptional and one of the appetizer samplers had two great carpaccio options (beef and duck). Pastas were expectedly fresh and the house made ravioli was the best I've ever had (trite praise but literally accurate in this case). My wine pairing especially was perfect and each glass was better than the last. We had a great lunch experience and the service could not be beat. We also had non truffle lovers with us and I was a bit worried it I didn't need to be. The wine the food the service ( we got service from everyone! Even the chef said hello! The food is bland, it feels like it's aged and it's absolutely disgusting. For so many years, we've heard how great Italy is for its food, but our first impression of Rome, Italy is that the food is disgusting. Found this local restaurant on Yelp and decided to come in cause of the raving reviews. The food here was fantastic and the service was amazing! We started off with a beef carpaccio and to my surprise, it came with big slices of truffle on top. It was delightful and a generous portion. Then I had of side of truffle mashed potatoes with another slice of truffle on top. It was probably the BEST mashed potatoes I've ever had. Me and my mom shared a plate of lobster fettucine and it was loaded with lobster meat. We had asked that it come deshelled but if you'd like the cool picture, you can have it come in the shell. Huge portion of pasta. Then for dessert, we had a very, very delicious tiramisu with amaretto. So light but rich in flavor. They also gave us complimentary biscotti with cream and 2 shots of limoncello on the house. It was very nice of the server. However, I was a bit turned off by the manager who came to run my card at the very end. We had just finished an amazing meal and when I got the bill, I noticed there was a service charge added and so I was planning to leave a tip on top of that but before I could add it in the machine, the gentleman taking my card said, 'Oh the service charge doesn't go towards the servers. You have to leave tip in addition' and so I added 4 Euro and he asked 'Oh is that it?' in a very rude tone so I felt bad and added 6 more Euro. It made me feel very uncomfortable as everywhere else I went, no one has ever forced me to tip in a country that doesn't require it. A few weeks ago, my friend and I stumbled across Life while looking for a non-tourist trip to have lunch. We were SO very grateful to have come across Life. The service was EXCELLENT, there were very few tourists and the food was delicious. To start, we shared the burrata which was perfect. I hardly ever write reviews, but this was so bad I just have to. The experience was bad from beginning to end. I showed up at the time of my reservation and they insisted they couldn't find it. I pulled up the email confirmation and they eventually sat me. The employees looked overworked and miserable. They did the absolute bare minimum. They took exactly 35 minutes before checking on us and taking our order after sitting us. I'm not sure if they were just busy or if we were being judged by the waiter/server for looking different. There were people who were sat after us yet got helped way before us. Once the food came, it was as very disappointing. We ate out for dinner 4 times in rome and this was the worst. The steak was salty and the pasta was disappointing. I would strongly recommend not coming here. read more

We set outside and it was a chilly night, but the heaters and covers around the patio preserved the warm air and it was very comfortable. The atmosphere was charming. Better than expected! I was googling Italian food options near our AirBnb and stumbled upon Life. They had great reviews so we tried them out. The experience was so much more than we ever expected. The staff was incredibly friendly and the food was incredible. I've heard that some places in Rome don't love Americans, but everyone treated us so nicely and made us feel very welcome. The highlight of my meal was the truffle ravioli, made with in season fresh Nero pregiato truffles. So fresh and the best pasta dish I've ever had. We were walking to the Spanish Steps through the narrow streets when we came up to Life Restaurant. We were so happy to find this gem. The food is excellent I had the Salmon and my wife had the ribeye steak. We shared a seafood salad and a dessert. The service was excellent. Life is good when you're eating what you love. The restraunt is kind of catered to tourists, but I still recommend it at least once. My wife and I came right when they opened for dinner. We were the first ones there so they immediately seated us. The waitress was very attentive and only followed up when needed, never more. They also gave us multiple items on the house: a cup of champagne each, an appetizer, and a limoncello each for dessert. The waitress gave excellent recommendations on alternatives when ordering appetizers. They highly recommended their black truffles. We ordered the beef filet carpaccio with black truffles for appetizer, lobster with asparagus, lamb rack with black truffle mashed potatoes. The carpaccio was excellent. 6 stars if I could give it that much. The black truffles were generous and delicious. The lobster was cooked to perfection - soft and tender. It came with asparagus which was sour and went well with the meat. The lamb rack was alright. There were only two pieces for the price. The flavor was average but I still ate all of it. The truffle mashed potatoes was really good. I especially liked the taste of the olive oil that was drizzled on top. We ordered dessert too - tiramisu and panna cotta. The tiramisu was average. It tasted exactly as expected. The panna cotta, on the other hand, was simply amazing. Eat it with the chocolate sprinkles first. Then try it with the fruit bits. Then try it all together. The flavors blended very well. After paying, we were offered a limoncello - a local alcoholic delight of lemon and alcohol. They offer it to their guests at the end of the meal on the house. It was sweet and very strong. The price is worth the quality of service and food (minus the lamb rack). Their black truffles are amazing and they are right to recommend the dishes that have it. read more

I'm not sure if I have ever given a one star revue, if I have, I really don't remember. All that to say that this place was a HUGE disappointment and you should not waste a moment of your time here. Upon arrival the host was pretty rude and even though there were a lot of open tables, he said he'd have to check to see if they could get us in. This was the first restaurant we tried on this trip to Rome and since we hadn't experienced this type of treatment on our previous trips to Rome, we chalked it up to him having a bad day or maybe some other circumstance we were unaware of since there was no one else waiting to be seated and no one showed up later to claim the empty tables. He stuck the four of us in a tiny room that barely fit two tables even though there was a large room with open tables that was a lot more inviting and spacious. We were still excited to be in one our favorite cities and ready to eat. The waitress was nice enough and we ordered some Roman staples and a nice bottle of wine and that was the last we saw of her until the bill arrived. The young man who showed up to pour the wine knew nothing about it or how to pour it and spilled a good amount of it on the table instead of in the glasses, but he really didn't seem to care as he offered no apologies and didn't make any attempt to be more careful. We were still determined not to let it spoil the night. Then the food arrived. My pasta was mushy and bland and my husband's pasta was the very worst pasta I have ever tasted in my life. It was actually crunchy because it was so undercooked. I felt so bad because I had picked this place and then to literally add insult to injury,a young woman shows up out of nowhere and abrasively shouts out "Are you finished!" We were all so taken aback (we've traveled extensively through Europe and have never experienced anything like this) we sort of nodded and watched as she loudly and angrily stacked the dishes. The bill came and it was so ridiculously overpriced, but we didn't complain -just paid the bill, but not before they asked us if we wanted to add a tip. This is where we put our foot down and said no thank you as politely as possible. Thankfully the rest of the restaurants we tried in Rome were 100x better and far less than half the price paid at this horrific establishment. There are so many amazing options around this place, please don't waste your money, time and health here (I was nauseous by the time we left there). This is a fantastic restaurant in the Spanish Steps area. It has been around for 20 years, but it feels like a modern, contemporary high end approach to Italian food. They have a seasonal menu of fresh porcini and fresh black and occasionally white truffles, both of which are worth seeking out. The outdoor area is very nice and a permanent result of COVID. This is a fancier, more upscale Italian restaurant in Rome. It's a complete departure from your grandmother's kitchen. But at the same time, those classic Italian flavors are still there. The ambiance and decor are modern and hip. If you can sit outside, definitely do so. But naturally, reservations are pretty much a must, particularly for outside. But you may be able to snag a table inside without a reservation. The wine list is one of the best I found in Rome. And it was divided not only into the usual red and white, but also by region of Italy. And, of course, you'll automatically get Limoncello at the end of your meal. Everything we ate was absolutely fabulous. But the standout was the ravioli topped with black truffles. It was both unique and classic all at the same time. And it was oh so tasty. But you seriously can't go wrong with any of their menu offerings. They also have a couple of different tasting menus you can choose from too. Service was good, but not necessarily great. We had to ask a couple of times for another bottle of water, etc. But everyone was friendly and pleasant. And the manager stopped by too to see how our meal was.
