I have given this place a try twice. I really don't want to write a bad review but honestly for the price I pay I wish it was better. I want to love this place because it's near where I work and live. The first time I came here I schedule through the online appointment for a fill, replace a couple of nails and a pedicure. I wanted Phoebe to do my nails and she did. She never made conversation with me and she was just working so fast. She didn't even measure my nails to see if they were even with the other one. Nails on one of my hand were longer then the other hand. She did an ok job on the design that I wanted. Now I tried this place again last week on Wednesday. I made an online appointment but I didn't request Phoebe. I came in and was seated right away for a pedicure. The girl at the desk (I didn't get her name) was the one who did my pedicure. She did the best job I could ever ask for. She made sure to cut my toenails the shape that I wanted and she filed and took out all the dead cuticles. She painted my nails so beautifully and I love the way my toes came out. Now my nails on my hand is another story. Kim was the one who did my nails. I was so happy to see that she was going to do my nails because I saw her work here on yelp and thought she was going to do a good job. She took off my old set and put in a new set. She was so rough and she didn't make conversation either. She put on the powder so thinly and when it was time to file the nails she didn't do it square enough. My nails always look great, the service is always fast and friendly, the salon is clean, and the prices are fair. Also, I love that I can schedule an appointment with them here on Yelp, and they respond within minutes to confirm. Note: I have UNRULY cuticles on my fingers. I often have to ask manicurists to go over my cuticles again because they're too gentle on them, and they leave a lot behind. Not at this salon! My actual nails look great! However, my technician totally missed the manicure part of gel manicure and did not touch my cuticles at all. For $50, that includes tip, I was expecting much more. I asked if she was going to trim around the nail (standard) or even push back my cuticles and she just look at my quizzically and kept working. Today was my first time getting a pedicure in LB area. Did my search and I'm happy with my manicure, asked for Phoebe she works very fast so if you are sensitive let her know before hand. My pedicure is good was done by Mindy since I'm piky about how I like my pedicure it took her a little longer but at the end I got what I wanted. (Just be direct if you are not happy with something). DIP REMOVAL BEWARE. I went to this salon because they had great reviews and it is close to my apartment. I wanted my dip manicure removed and then a new dip manicure. When I sat down the tech grabbed an acrylic nail and jammed it under my dip color and popped it off of my nail. No file or soak, and when she did this it ripped off the top layer of my natural nails! I went in with healthy nails and after that my nails were thin and peeling. I should have just walked out right then but decided to let them put the new manicure on so at least my now VERY thin nails would have something protecting them from breaking off. 5 hours after my manicure, a huge chunk peeled off from my right thumbnail, and the next morning the entire dip on my left thumbnail was lifting off. At this point after they destroyed my natural nails, I didn't trust them to fix it properly. I asked for a refund and they refused and said they would give me a discount next time. I told them that they damaged my nails and I was going to have them fixed somewhere else, and they still refused to give me my money back. I basically spent $65 (before tip) to have my nails severely damaged. They didn't even apologize. Never going back since they don't use safe removal practices. read more

I went here for the first time today and got a gel manicure. I rarely ever get my nails done, and I'm not a high-maintenance or easily displeased person, but I was pretty disappointed with the outcome. Some of the nails are filed unevenly, and the nail polish itself is pretty messy around the edges, especially around the half moon curve near the cuticles. My right thumb in particular looks awful, part of it is buffed and not shiny. She did 2 coats of the color polish, but it still is waaaay lighter than how it looked on the plastic nail when I chose the color. It was a much deeper red, which was why I chose it. CONS: I stopped going because I made an appointment but ended up waiting 30 minutes because they were taking walk ins right at the start of my appointment. The person who did it continuously kept ruining the wet nail polish (over 5 times) and kept "fixing it." He also cut me a few times. He painted over the cotton ball fibers causing many unsightly bunps. Honestly too many errors to point out. I just wanted to leave. I would maybe come again because the female nail technicians around me seemed to do much better work. My advice is to steer clear of the male technician who did my mani/pedi. Phoebe has done my nails beautifully many times before but my last three visits have made me never want to come back. Last week I came for a fill and she did it in about 20 minutes. She was rushing and did a sloppy job. Then three days later, I had three nails break while on a trip. I did not do anything rigorous like cooking or doing the dishes for my nails to break. This has been my regular nail salon since it was "Anne's Nail Studio", and I still love it! Recently I decided to try nail extensions with powder dip (which I quickly realized has a ton of variations in name)...in any case it's like acrylic without the acrylic. I searched reviews for this technique and could only find it mentioned at another shop. Since I was leaving for bday vacation, I wanted to be sure the salon could do it. So I ventured out to a different salon, HUGE MISTAKE!!! I wasn't happy with the work done by this other salon, but I didn't know any different since I was new to it. After vacation I went back to Nail Studio on 4th and asked for the exact same technique and ombré color (had a pic both times), and Phoebe NAILED IT!! No pun intended. Plus her filing/nail shaping game is on point!!! It took a long time to get the crap off from the previous salon, but she went to town and I couldn't be happier with her work. I actually really like this place - great pricing and pretty clean, good color selection for my tastes BUT I paid for a spa pedicure specifically for the massage and that's the only thing I did not get. I was pretty disappointed about that. The other thing too is I happened to get a lady that just couldn't understand what I wanted and had to get a secondary person to do the filing of my nails. So really it was an issue with the specific employee than with the overall salon. However, with all that said, they do deserve a second shot and I will be coming here again but will make sure to request someone who knows nail shapes and speak up next time about getting jipped the full value of the service I paid for. There were only 4 female nail techs here. 1 nail tech was removing my friends and my acrylics and was very rough. First she used a nail clipper (and a fake tip to shove it under my nail) to remove it and bent, cracked, and broke my nail, so I asked her to be more gentle. She then used an electric nail file. She was very rough when doing this because she missed my nail and ended up filing my skin until it bled. She did not take her time and was very rushed when working on my nails. She did not apologize for hurting me both times. I am appalled that this is the kind of service provided here. I will not recommend this place. read more
