Be sure to bring your appetite! Seriously, I have never been served a larger meal than the one I had here. Three of us came for a late lunch (and early dinner) around 3:30P. There were only a couple other customers at the time, but it started getting busier around happy hour. We opted for patio seating to enjoy the Seattle sun and got a perfectly shaded table in the corner. Their outdoor area is so nice; there are even heat lamps and a fire pit for colder days. To start off, we each ordered a cocktail from their creative selection of drinks. I chose the BANG MANGO ($13), thinking it would be fruity, but it was far from that. It was a concoction of green chile vodka, Licor 43, mango shrub, lime, cilantro and Peychaud's bitters. The green chile vodka was pretty potent and the cilantro flavor added quite the bite. This unique drink was sharp (not sweet) and I have never tasted anything like it. Quick tip: Mango bush is not reminiscent of the fruit itself. Their menu is a "Meat N' Three'' where you select a main entrée and three sides for $27.99. There's a special featured entrée everyday, in addition to their standard options. Of course I went with their Sunday special! SMOKED DELMONICO CHEESESTEAK (entrée): This was huge! Strips of 21 day-aged beef, grilled onions, horseradish mayo and house-made cheese whiz were securely housed in a soft Sodo roll. The beef was tender but I didn't taste any smokiness as the name implies. It also had more gristle and fat than I would have liked, but I suppose that is better than the meat being dry. The sandwich was fine, but it wasn't really the succulent barbeque that I expected. All three sides were delicious and I would 100% order them again! 1. SHOESTRING FRIES: A must! They were thin, firm and flavored with dill and a hint of vinegar. It came with a cup of dill tartar sauce for dipping which made them even more delectable. Who knew tartar sauce and fries made for such a tasty pairing? 2. FRIED BRUSSELS SPROUTS: These were nicely browned and I loved all the leaves that were charred to a crisp. They were coated in a sweet hoisin BBQ sauce - so good! 3. SMOKED JALAPENO KALE CAESAR: This was quite a filling side salad tossed in creamy dressing and topped with a generous amount of parmesan. The heat from the jalapeno was fairly faint, so don't expect a tingly spice. Looking around, most tables shared a single meal between two people and now I know why! The servings are so humongous that each of us was already getting full after just half of our sandwiches. Service was pretty attentive. Our drinks arrived promptly with our food shortly after. The waitstaff checked back with us at least three times and kept our water canter filled, so we felt well taken care of. Came here after seeing a video from Mike Chen. Had to try the beef rib and we were lucky enough the snatch the very last one of the day! The beef rib was huge and came with 3 delicious, refreshing sides that go perfectly with the fatty meat. I wish all BBQ joints would serve these sides instead of the typical sides. OMG. What have I discovered? The meat at Lady Jaye is what they're known for and it will leave you speechless because you will be 1) eating and 2) swooning. I had no idea how amazing this place is until we came here for happy hour and had ourselves a late lunch that was holy smokes, delicious. I don't travel to West Seattle ever. I go to Arizona more than I go to West Seattle. Seriously. Yes, I know it's still part of Seattle; hence, the name of this Yelp list which this restaurant is now bookmarked under. But I don't like driving south and then across a bridge and yeah, West Seattle is a trek, especially when I don't want to deal with traffic. BUT... We visited West Seattle because we were seeing a show here; thus, we were forced to travel westward. After the show, we needed sustenance and saw that Lady Jaye had a happy hour, so decided to check it out. Note that it literally is an hour. Not two hours, not a minute after. One hour, from 4 to 5pm. Happy hour happens out on the back patio, which was a nice space. There were heated lamps and one table had a fire pit in the center. Plus, it's dog-friendly. It's also where you can see the grill where all the treasured meats are made. Since we visited on a Sunday, the Sunday special was a 21-day aged smoked delmonico cheesesteak sandwich, which is what my partner ordered. I went with the wagyu chopped cheese sandwich, which is only offered on happy hour and for our sides that were only three bucks on happy hour, we had the watermelon and feta salad and the kale and jalapeno salad with a plum moscow mule. Our food didn't take too long to get and the meaty sandwiches were perfection. I still can't decide which was better, but I did love my wagyu chopped cheese sandwich, with the most tender and juicy of chopped beef that sunk into my teeth at every bite, with a melted cheese throughout the chopped beef that only heightened things to a new level. GET THIS ON HAPPY HOUR. EVEN IF YOU ARE NOT HUNGRY, PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, GET THIS SANDWICH. My partner's delmonico cheesesteak sandwich was also very, very good, with the tender beef and housemade, drizzled, saucy cheese on a slightly toasted hoagie. So yes, if you are here on a Sunday then you also need to feast on this Sunday special. Hell, whatever meats they have, get it. My goal is to visit on a Thursday when they feature the half-pound wagyu burger, which who knows when that will be. But a girl can dream and drool. We got a rare chance to visit West Seattle and decided to walk along the main street to find a place for dinner. As we were walking, we could smell popcorn. When we stumbled upon the entrance of Lady Jaye, we got curious about their menu and decided to come in. We were served a small bowl of popcorn to start - Well, that explains the popcorn smell down the street! Unfortunately their daily special had run out already. We ordered from their regular menu: smoked NY strip and bugulgi burger. For sides, we ordered the fries, beans, and brussel sprouts. There's a combo price for 1 entree+3 sides for $29. Individually, each entree is $17 and side is $6. It was a bit confusing that the individual prices were not on the menu and we had to ask. The bugulgi burger was a hit! It was very flavourful, with a clever mixture of flavours and textures between the meat, veggies and sauces. The NY strip was also great, especially the fattier parts which were more tender. Personally I would've preferred the NY strip to be saltier but my husband liked it the way it was (and would've preferred the bugulgi to be less intense). Came here for a small birthday dinner and so happy I did! This is one good smoke house for the PNW! Food: Really solid. Popcorn appetizer was a nice touch, though too salty. I had the pork tomahawk special and let me say - you get a ton of food for $32 and they did the dish! The pork included 3 types of meat, and as someone typically wary of BBQ in the PNW, the rib was on point! Sides included biscuit (heard it was good), Brussel sprouts (sauce heavy but tasty), apple salad (actually slices of apple...unexpected but good), and fries (meh). Split my dish with another person and still felt full. Tip: If you're not a big eater, you don't have to get all 3 sides with your meal. One in our party got a sandwich and fries, had more than enough, and saved a few $. Service: It was good. Server was attentive, sometimes even too quick for us. He was helpful in explaining the menu and order system as well as answering allergy questions. Ambiance: Well, it is a smokehouse. Random offering but probably the best popcorn I've ever had. -we got the nightly addition of braised pork ($36) and the prawns dish ($32) (each come with 3 sides) -prawns were fantastic as was the dipping sauce (like, dipping sauce was phenomenal) -braised pork was meh, tender but not very flavorful -dill french fries were fantastic -the apple/celery/feta salad was ruined by the dousing of apple cider vinegar dressing. Get it with no dressing (the apples were top notch though. Like the akane's my parents grow) -grilled brussel sprouts ruined by dousing of sauce. I've gotten takeout from Lady Jaye multiple times, as well as dined in. The meat and three is enough for two people to share (unless you're super super hungry!) and I love how many of the sides are bright and vinegary to balance out the richer mains. You can also order any item a la carte if you don't need all three sides or just want the entree! The smoked pork New York that we got last time was very tender with great flavor in the pork and mustard sauce. Favorite sides so far are the dill vinegar fries, Brussels sprouts, and slaw. Wow! I came here the first time and only grabbed some drinks and dessert with my friend after dinner at Camp West. This second visit of mine I was able to try their food and WHOLLY MOLY do they give you a lot of food! I got their Thursday night special which is a Wagyu cheeseburger, 1/2 lb thick juicy patty and a side of rocket sauce, lettuce, tomato, onion and pickles with three sides of your choice. I got the fried brussel sprouts with hoisin BBQ, shaved apple salad, and Yukon gold horseradish potato salad. Everything was fresh and delicious and worth the price tag of about $31. Don't forget a cocktail! I got the guns n' rosemary with the bread pudding the first visit, and this visit I got one that may have been seasonal because I can't find it on their online cocktail menu. The service was good, they were pretty busy though so make a reservation, especially if you want a good table on the patio. Saw some IG posts so went to check it out. Small place but good service and food. Had the pork and the short rib sandwich. They give you 3 side options. The main dishes were really good but the sides were lacking. There aren't many side choices. The fries were the best thing. The potato salad is more German style and the apple salad was heavy on the vinegar. I would say the brussel sprouts and fries are the way to go. You do get a lot of food for the price so that's good. I wanted to visit this establishment for awhile now. We live next door to Little Jaye and have to restrain ourselves from going whenever we can. We were underwhelmed, unfortunately. The price was a bit steep. It was a special occasion though so we decided to finally give it a go. We ordered it take out. One of our sides was missing, so we did let them know and they were quick and friendly to credit us back for it. Positive! Not a big deal, just a heads up to make sure your whole orders there. For the cost, it's pretty important. I also ordered the kale salad as a side and got spinach instead. It was very good, so not a deal breaker, but on top of the missing apple salad, it was notable. The entrees were good. Enough. My husband enjoyed his sandwich and my grandma enjoyed hers. My prawns were okay. The potato salad was, sadly, not enjoyed by any of us. Not horrible food by any means. This place had all the fun dive bar feels. Dim lighting made the food pictures a little harder to capture but it added to the overall experience. They have indoor seating and some seating at their open window area. If sitting at the bar it does get a little crowded if all the seats are filled so if you are still trying to keep distance from others, maybe wait a little or go at an off time. The menu rotates so there are different things daily. They post to their instagram so you can check out what the menu is looking like for the day if you want to try something specific. I went for the bologna sandwich which did not disappoint. I think bologna is nostalgic for me so it hit all the spots. We also got the half barbecued chicken which was nice, smokey & juicy. We both did the combo order as well so it came with a list of sides to choose 3 from, totaling around $30 each. Not only was the food really good, the drinks tasted great as well. I love trying new drinks and this place had a good list to choose from. I even saw a case near the front where you could take some drinks home. Our visit did not start out well when we arrived 45 minutes early for our 5pm reservation. It was 4:15pm and there were three empty tables available but the dude in the suspenders with the bushy beard insisted we couldn't be seated yet because those tables had reservations, gosh darn it. So we killed half an hour before coming back to find that all three tables were still empty. How curious. Wonder if this had anything to do with me being a person of color in a restaurant full of white people. Thankfully, this time we spoke to a different person who had no problem seating us before our official reservation time. Once seated we were given a bowl of popcorn that was freshly popped but unfortunately also very heavily salted. I was disappointed to see that their meat selection wasn't that varied. There was pork but the rest of the menu was limited to mostly sandwiches. We got the smoked pork which was fine but not really smoky as well as the bulgolgi melt. Most of the bulgolgi beef was tender except for the random pieces of gristle which were inedibly chewy. The sandwich was also incredibly soggy and messy due to the cole slaw on top. It's referred to as "pickled radish & carrots" on the menu but with the copious amount of spicy mayo (which wasn't spicy at all) it was effectively cole slaw. I love slaw, but there's a reason why I don't have it on sandwiches. For sides, we got the smoked Caesar, shaved apple salad, and veggie slaw. The last two dishes were basically doused in vinegar while the Caesar wasn't smoky at all. Maybe it was Opposite Day where everything described as smoky or spicy isn't the least bit smoky or spicy. Overall the food was underwhelming and did not live up to the hype around this place. Add to that the insult of having to wait for tables that were never filled. By the time we finished our meal those empty tables were still empty. Ugh. Thanks for wasting our time and for the overpriced, mediocre meal. read more

I can't speak to the cocktails, but the food was superb. Portions are giant. If you aren't both famished, go ahead and split one meal. I had the smoked bologna sandwich. Very yummy. I'm not a huge meat lover, but this was really flavorful and satisfying. For side I had the watermelon salad, which is highly recommend! So much flavor. I also had the shoestring fries. Standard fries but very good. The star of the show was the black eyed peas. I do NOT like black eyed peas. Yuck! But I've started ordering things I don't like to see if someone can change my mind. My mind was changed tonight. The peas were SO YUM. Way more like BBQ beans than black eyed peas. The patio is super cute and each table had an overhead heater or was near the fire pit. Would love to come back and try the cocktails. The menu was extensive. The only negative is the food menu isn't extensive. I understand they rotate it at times and have specials. I had major FOMO this morning! So, when I woke up Sunday morning I decided to do something about it and get to the pop up pastry in time to purchase a cream filled donut. And, a cookie, chocolate peanut butter, savory biscuit and pork belly bread pudding. Everything was warm from being freshly baked. Service is always top notch friendly. These guys love what they do and it shows. The restaurant vibe is super cool here and yea, I need to come back for dinner. But today was pastry pop up and the chocolate cream donut did not disappoint! Super creamy mouse filling and a sugar donut filled to perfection. The donut itself was light and fluffy. The chocolate creamy and not too sweet. The savory bread pudding super delicious and an excellent breakfast with two fried eggs at home. Get here now! Wait in line. If you need to convince your friends to visit West Seattle, like myself, might I suggest taking them to Lady Jaye. Just once, and they'll be hooked. Upon quick glance, Lady Jay is a humble butcher shop and casual restaurant. However, as you step into the building and get the sweet aroma of meat and smoke, you realize there is much more than meets (meats) the eye. The daily specials are equally delicious as the staples. Seafood, wagyu burgers, brisket, cheesesteak and more. If it couldn't get any better, the sides will challenge your stomach's limits. My favorites being the shoe string fries, horseradish potato salad and kale caesar with garlic croutons. I'll let you in on my strategy, though. The 4-5pm happy hour unlocks a wagyu chopped cheese that leaves me speechless. Get there early, grab a seasonal Moscow mule, and snag yourself a chopped cheese. Definitely recommend making reservations because it's a pretty small place and was very busy. We planned to order their Friday special - braised wagyu brisket pot roast - unfortunately it was already sold out. The server told me that if I have a reservation, I can call ahead of time and reserve the special for the day as well. Next time, I'll definitely do that! I ordered the prime bulgogi short rib melt with fries, salad, and brussels sprouts. The melt was to tasty and flavorful! There was a special sauce on it that brought he all the flavors together. I didn't like the salad too much, nothing special about it. But the brussel sprouts were so good! There was a miso glaze on top making them a little sweeter. Regardless of what day it is, the food is so consistently kick a**. It cannot be easy to hold such high standards but it makes sense when you get to know the people involved. From the chefs to the super-creative bar staff, to the fun and attentive service team. We ordered what the server suggested and he explained how tender the pork loin is and the best beans I'm going to ever have. They started us out with a bowl of get this.........popcorn, lol. I knew we were in deeper trouble when the food started to arrive in paper boats. The pork was loin was actually rough, tough, fatty and chewy to the point that it was inedible. The beans were black eyed peas in some sort of unbalanced BBQ sauce. The fried prawns were uneventful and served with frozen fries. The cucumber salad was a few cherry tomatoes, goat or feta cheese and was just the weirdest salad I've been served. This was actually my first time here and was surprised about how big the back patio was. It's also one of the few restaurants open with a patio for dine in. Definitely felt safe and distanced from other diners. Food overall was solid even with limited menu. I ordered the bologna sandwich as my entree and my wife ordered the bulgogi short rib sandwich. I normally hate bologna but this sandwich was delish and much better than your lunch packed sandwich. Sides were actually the best part. Shoe string fries and peppers are a must! The bulgogi short rib sandwich was decent but way too salty. We only ate like half of it. We ended with some delicious soft serve ice cream with toppings perfect for a summer night. Overall, we felt safe, food was on point, and we will come back soon! read more

I had such a great experience here the other night. I've been in before precovid for drinks and their cocktails are pretty delicious. Had an awful day at work so I decide to skip the gym and see if my sister wanted to grab dinner somewhere. She chose Lady Jayes so I called to see if they took walk in or if they required reservation. Sierra on the phone was really helpful and got us booked. Glad we choose the bar area as the table tops were spacious and our meal ended up taking up a huge amount of space. Sarah our server was great, she was very personable, quick with answers and recommendations. The menu has slimmed down quite a lot assuming due to Covid but the meat + 3 is a feast already. I ordered their Wednesday special which consist of a sandwich filled with smoked country tri tips, Dungeness crab jalapeno Caesar with the black eye peas, potato salad, and brussels sprout. my sister order the prime bulgogi short rib melt, black eye peas, smoked jalapeno kale caser and short string fries, The sides were all really great, I loved that the black eye peas wasn't overly sweet and had a really nice flavor to it. There were pieces of meat in there that added a nice touch. Big fan of their brussels sprout. It was tossed in a hoisin BBQ sauce that I was afraid would be too sweet for my liking but it was just the perfect amount of sweetness. My turf and surf sandwich though, everything from the tri tip to the Dungeness crab Caesar was phenomenal. If I hadn't inhaled my cocktail, you would have bet I'd finished that sandwich but instead I saved it for lunch the next day. Flavors were even better the next day. Might be literally the best sandwich I've ever eaten. My sister said her prime bulgogi was good, but a tad salty, the pickled radish and carrot help cut some of that saltiness though. Anyways, this is getting a bit long. If you come for drinks they're pretty tasty but I do recommend staying for food as it's delicious! OH and they play a movie while you eat+ staff is also very friendly. read more

This is one of my favorite places to eat in the neighborhood. Hell, if I didn't live in the neighborhood I'd still come here. There are a lot of great things to eat here. It's not traditional BBQ, but there are a lot of smoked meat options. They often change day to day, so get on their email list for a heads-up on what's coming down the pipe for the week. Some items are staples, like the happy hour (4-5pm) chopped cheese sandwich. This is really good, one of our favorites. Recently we also had a smoke top sirloin sandwich that was incredible. It's a lot of fun when there's always something new tempting you away from the regular staples. They even have seafood night on occasion. The meat counter up front is lots of fun too! Since much of it is fancy Wagyu beef, the prices ain't cheap but we've enjoyed every treat we ever bought out of this case. I have my eye on the dino ribs for July 4. Last week we had some pork chops that were so tender and juicy! This stuff really is a cut above what you'd get in a grocery store, and they source all their meat from the PNW from farmers that raise their animals ethically. I'd encourage you to come in this summer! The patio is shaded and really nice. Our dog loves it. Also the bartenders are top notch! Sara makes great cocktails and while that isn't really my thing, my wife loves 'em. They always have some great beer on tap too.
