This was a great stop! Unfortunately it isn't very often where an opportunity arises to try out indigenous cuisine or even indigenous inspired for us so when an opportunity does come along we meet it with much enthusiasm! Nacho Mama's Fry Bread Cafe is one of these opportunities and we were in the White Center neighborhood and it was an easy stroll to come here. When we came in we pretty much had the place to ourselves which was okay I guess... it was relatively quiet for when we dined here. For what I got on the menu I got the Zucchini Curly Fries which had a nice, crispy and lightly seasoned batter that proved to be delicious! For my main course I had the All Nations Native Taco. What this consisted of was the fry bread that the place is known for along with ground beef, chili, lettuce, tomato, onion, cheese, sour cream along with some salsa. It was so good! The fry bread was amazing and I chowed it down like nobody's business along with those Zucchini Fries! It's a good thing Steve shared those with me because I could have ate them all. Great visit with my aunt to Nacho Mama's Fry Bread Cafe. I am still thinking about the fry bread over a week later. We both had "Granny Lue's" which is fry bread topped with country sausage gravy served with potatoes and egg. Everything was made so perfectly. I also took a sugar and cinnamon fry bread to go, with wojapi sauce which my aunt loved. It was the perfect balance of sweet and tart. The interior was cute, clean and mid noise level. Quiet enough to work on my laptop but also loud enough to have a conversation with my aunt and it not feel awkward. There was music playing softly, native art and maps on the wall. I believe this business is ran by a mother and daughter. The owner was very kind. I'm so glad i tried this place. We'll be back. read more

Yeah, this food was awful. Ants everywhere, flies everywhere, cooks playing around in the back, whole place felt nasty. Legitimately looked like a place that health inspectors would have a field day with. Service somehow matched the food too. They forgot our appetizer completely at first, and every single item came out late. We waited around 45 minutes while there were literally only one or two entrees in the queue ahead of us. No reason food should be taking that long when the place wasn't even busy. Here's what we got: Chorizo Fry Bread Awful. Greasy, lazily constructed, tasted like zero effort went into it. Salmon Cakes/Fry Bread Salmon cakes were actually fine. The fry bread though? TERRIBLE. Greasy, bland, heavy, and honestly ruined the plate. "Lollipop Wings" This was EASILY one of the worst things I've ever had at a restaurant in my life. I genuinely do not believe a single grain of salt, pepper, seasoning, marinade, NOTHING touched this chicken. No exaggeration. I wouldn't even feed that chicken to my dog. I actually want a refund for this appetizer specifically because it was THAT bad. Stuffed Fry Bread Only good thing we had. Even then, $16 for it is pushing it. Honestly, don't order anything else on the menu besides this. I hate that this place was bad too because I'm not somebody who just hates on small businesses. I've been to plenty of Indigenous restaurants and grew up eating on the rez with friends. This just wasn't it. It honestly feels like this place survives off the "Seattle crowd / young progressive" aesthetic more than the actual food quality because the food itself was genuinely horrible. I feel the need to warn people about this, I love to support small business but the entire experience was awful. It took forever to receive our order even though there were only 1-2 other tables, our food was initially delivered to one of those other tables. The food was cold and the sausage gravy had a really off taste. The chorizo fry bread was very oily and had an aftertaste of old oil. Really disappointed. I was so excited to try this place out but they need serious training in staffing + hosting. We arrived at 11 AM on a Saturday and there was one party ahead of us. We didn't get food until 11:45 (I overheard the party ahead us say that they were waiting since 10 AM - that's almost 2 hours!) I understand that they were understaffed, but it was complete chaos. Plates were coming out in no order - people who sat way after got their food first. I would've overlooked that if not that every single thing in our order was either wrong or we had to remind them that something was missing. I asked for something to be removed for dietary reasons and it was ignored. I asked for drinks, didn't get it until I asked (after my food was finished). I paid for sauce (didn't get until I had to ask). Food itself came out lukewarm & to be completely honest lacked in flavor. read more

I really wanted to love this place as the owner was super friendly and I love frying bread. We came in on a Sunday at 11am and waited 30 minutes for our Nacho's appetizer then another 30 min for the mains - we both got the cheese steak fry bread. The Nachos were very sad - microwaved cheese sauces, taco meat, etc on round nacho chips. Something I could have made 10x better at home. It felt like the dish was cooked in the microwave. The fry bread itself was delicious and fluffy but the toppings were greasy and awful. I ate maybe 1/3 of my meal - mostly the bread part and left the rest. Lastly the restaurant itself was super cold, had no music playing, and it was just unappealing being there. Time to get another brunch. I really hope the owner can make some changes - buy higher quality meat and ingredients, hire more staff, and re-ramp some recipes as the way it stands now I'd give it maybe 3-4 months tops before it closes. read more

Decided to check out this "newish" place for our book club meet. They've been open since Nov '23. The store itself is pretty small, with seating for about 20 people. The room is decorated with Native American art, which lends to its "fry bread" theme. There are two electric fireplaces for heating and music softly playing in the background. Menus are simple with just the right amount of items to choose from. My friends had the nachos and a Philly cheesesteak fry bread. I had the original fry bread taco. Servings are decent with the nachos being pretty big. Fry bread was both crunchy and chewy at the same time. Fresh veggie toppings and overall very good flavor on all items! For dessert my friends had the mango fry bread sundae and the caramel apple fry bread sundaes. I've never seen them so quiet as they ate every last bite! They said it was amazing! I was too full to even taste! There is also a separate alcohol beverage menu offering the usual beer and wine and classic cocktails. The only issue we had was slow service. The only person working was the owner who was very nice, but wore all hats in the store from taking orders to cooking to serving. However, knowing that, we will still go back! read more

Small eating area - just 5 or 6 tables - but nice and clean. The menu is heavy on the fried stuff, so don't think this is going to be healthy, even with the zucchini chips (which were delish, but heavy on the gut!) I had a fry bread sandwich and I forget what my hubs had, but it was all tasty, just pretty greasy from all the deep frying. We saw the sign for this as we were walking to another restaurant and knew we had to come back. I have a friend who LOVES Native American Frybread, but I'd never had it, and that changed today. It was a quieter Friday night dinner, but we got to chat with the kind woman who runs it, so it was great. She offers breakfast all day, solid entree options, and a decent bar of beer, wine, and spirits! So we grabbed a couple of bottles of Raindogs and the fried zucchini to start. I don't know what the breading was, but it was light and crispy and wonderful. Then we got a breakfast bagel and the beef stew for dinner. A breakfast sandwich can sometimes be "whatever" but this was solid and overflowing with egg and fillings. I don't eat beef, so there were fewer options for me, but the broth of the stew was absolutely delicious and the perfect comfort food on a cold evening. Finally it was time for more Frybread! Fridays are free Frybread with entree so we got a butter & jam (back to that in a second) and cinnamon sugar. This was a better, less greasy, and lighter Funnel Cake that I want all the time Now, the jam. Oh. My. Goodness. This berry compote is homemade with strawberries, blackberries, blueberries and raspberries, and honey, and it's phenomenal. She sells it by the jar, too (one came home with me). (Outside waiting) So far, I'm not thinking this is a good place. The lady who owns the place was 30 minutes late. Before she showed up, someone in my party called to see when she would get here, and the owner said she was running errands??? Why can't you just do that way before you open? (When my party of 4 got in) The inside of the place was pretty cool, with all of the native design and decorative stuff. I looked at some reviews and noticed that some people said it wasn't very decorative, but I don't think so. I liked how some stuff was on the walls and shelves but on one wall it was just some bird painting and an empty whiteboard. 40 minutes later we are still waiting for our order, and also she said she would "check up" on us and never did. I heard a microwave beep several times in the background and hoping that at least our food would tasted good. When we got our food after the long wait, everyone else enjoyed their food, but my food (the fry bread Philly cheese steak) was decent at best. I'm pretty sure Subway can make a better cheese steak than that. I was a bit disappointed about it but overall, it was good. read more

You can really tell she is passionate about her work and the community. It was flavorful and fresh and one of those meals I was sad to finish because I didn't want it to end. The service was great and the owner was really nice and you could tell she loves her restaurant and food. The owner wears all hats in this restaurant so this is something to be aware of. Been meaning to try this place since we moved to the area a few months ago and finally got the chance. We had the salmon cakes, stuffed fry bread, and zucchini fries and everything was phenomenal! Absolutely geeked to find a great place for fry bread tacos near where I live in Burien! We ordered an fry bread taco, side of fry bread, kids' chicken nuggets with fruit, and white girl tacos. The fry bread taco was classic--it had a good balance of chili and other toppings, and totally hit the spot. The fry bread itself came with little ramekins of butter and jelly on the side. The bread was perfectly chewy on the edges with some crunch in the middle where its thinner. I also liked the amount of salt -- you can taste it but it truly enhances the flavor of the dough perfectly. The chicken nuggets were good, and unlike some other places, actually identifiable as quality pieces of chicken breast--my kids liked them, and asked for more when they got through the plenty that came with the order. My 6 yo also really liked the white girl tacos. She ate both in short order without any prompting or prodding (or bribing), which if you knew her, you'd know was a notable accomplishment bc it is a rare occurrence in my home with any main course, let alone one with veggies on it. Alright. So, this place was recommended by a friend. First, I ordered the Nacho fry bread. You CAN NOT serve people canned chili when you're claiming to be a cook. Seasoning is non existent here. The fry bread was very oily and thick and undercooked,it also took a very long time to prepare.I was extremely surprised by her very intoxicated, non-stop talking, "friend"aggressive large dog roaming around the place barking loudly at me and shedding everywhere. First of all, the food is delicious. That's important to state up front. This is a cute little diner with less than ten tables. We came because we saw a tik tok about how good the food is and how adorable the cafe is. Unfortunately, the staff was not ready for the business a single tik tok can generate. There was one lady doing everything, cooking, serving, everything. Eventually she called her granddaughter, but stress levels were already high and service suffered. Customers refilled their own coffee, cleaned out own tables. More and more people showed up and had to be turned away. I genuinely want this place to succeed, the food is so good, the cafe is adorable, and the staff were very nice despite all the stress.
