    #1 Platter

Quite honestly the best breakfast I've ever eaten and the most friendly service. I ordered the signature platter that featured creamy eggs, delicious home potatoes, a buttery "grilled" biscuit and a corned beef hash that had me weak at the knees. I also enjoyed their fluffy homemade pancakes and blueberry preserves that had the perfect amount of sugar. After eating there, I now understand why Guy Fieri loves the place so much. 10/10 I would def eat here again! PS it was really refreshing to eat at a breakfast spot that actually seasons their food^^

    Chicken tenders, Mac n cheese

Food & service were great- Karen took awesome care of us. Big portions, everything we had was super tasty. You can hear the microwaves running & opening/closing, which is consistent with how the Mac n cheese came out- great taste but definitely made in a large batch & reheated in a microwave. The bathroom is the most dirty & gross any of us had ever used. There was loose bait on top of the A/C we were seated next to, which was unappealing. I would be shocked if they had ever passed a health inspection

12" Roast beef with brown gravy po-boy with brown gravy, and side of onion rings.

Places like this are the reason a road trip beats a flight every time. Awesome, quaint, home cooking cafe, with excellent friendly service. I had the 12" roast beef po-boy with brown gravy, and it had that home made deliciousness thats hard to find in a restaurant. If you like onion rings, don't miss out on the perfectly golden crisp colossal onion rings, batter had just the right seasoning kick.

I learned about this restaurant this morning from staff in my doctor's office. The scrambled eggs, new york strip steak, seasoned breakfast potatoes, and raisin bread toast breakfast platter was delicious! Chef's kiss! Excellent customer service!

Best poboy I've had in awhile. Fries were crispy. Waitress was super busy but very quick and efficient. I'll definitely be back with the family.

This place is dope. Featured on Food Network's Diners, Drive-ins, And Dives, this place does not disappoint. It has a very family atmosphere. The place served lots of variety of food. The food is really good like a parent made it.

That's clearly communicated when you're greeted, so naturally it sets the expectation for shareable portions. We started with the ricotta and meatballs. Overall, portions felt on the smaller side, but the ricotta, especially at $18, was honestly a bit shocking in size. When we asked about it, a server jokingly said "inflation." I get it, but still. The two guys I dined with come here often and were actually the ones pointing out that portions have seemed to shrink. For mains, we each ordered a pasta. One was a server recommended agnolotti with crab, corn, and roe. It was decent, but the broth felt a bit too loose and could've used more depth and richness. That said, the crab portion was generous, the pesto was great, and the red sauce pasta was solid. We also ordered two pizzas, hands down the highlight of the meal. Easily the best thing we had. One small but off putting detail, the red pepper flakes were served in an open jar rather than a shaker. It made me question how many hands had been in it, especially since it appeared to have been reused from another table. Not the most sanitary presentation. Dessert was a strong finish. Panna cotta, tiramisu, and olive oil cake were all fresh and delicious. Drinks included a cocktail for me and beers plus an espresso martini for the table, all fine. Service wise, things started okay but felt rushed toward the end. We even mentioned we were still picking at food and what seemed to be a manager still cleared plates from the table. The tables themselves are also very small, which doesn't help when you're doing family style dining. Our server appeared to be training someone but never introduced them, which made things feel a bit awkward. Also, when resetting silverware, it felt rushed and a little careless, almost tossed onto the table rather than placed. Overall, the experience was good but not great. The food had its highlights, but portion sizes versus price and some service missteps held it back. 6/10, and honestly it reminded me why I hadn't felt the urge to come back before.

It's a hole in the wall that is definitely popular with locals, and fills up quickly, which is what I wanted. The food is top-notch, and the vibe is casual, with a mix of classic, but casual dining. The main dining room is inviting and stylish in an understated way. Our server was super friendly and the food was excellent. We had an appetizer sampler to start - hubs wasn't fond of the thick batter on the calamari but also noted it was tender and tasty. My family is Italian and had Italian friends who owned a shop and made their own homemade Italian sausage... I'm not saying Mandina's makes their own but one bite took me back. I think the texture would have been better served in grilled chunks rather than the slices that tasted fried; the crispy surface area of the cut exposed interior wasn't bad but not my preference. Also included was fried stick of eggplant which was some of the best I've had. I ordered the veal parm for my entrée that was cooked perfectly, the marinara was exquisite and the perfect ratio to the veal and the pasta. Another entrée ordered was the shrimp bordelaise but switch the shrimp out for a veal cutlet which they were happy to do as my daughter doesn't eat tomato sauce but was eager to try the veal. The down side was that their bordelaise wasn't traditional bordelaise of the red wine sauce variety; the dish turned out to be like pasta tossed with garlic and butter and we wish we had known. When I asked the waitress if it would be traditional bordelaise she confirmed that it was, which was why we ordered it. That it turned out not to be was a let down. But all-in-all this was a great dining experience for all the right reasons. If you're like me and hate being stuck in touristy eateries, hop the street car down Canal and tell the conductor to let you off at Mandina's and thank me later.
