I've made it a mission to try everything on their menu, I don't know what they do to their retried beans but it's ridiculous makes my mouth water just thinking about them and that's just the beans. My last dish was the Yucatan Home Special it was wonderful, nice and hot, just the right amount of kick, not to salty and full of flavor. They definitely don't send out a dish that has filler to make it look like more you get what you paid for. The value for your hard earned money is reciprocal at La Piñata. To me a place like that shows they value their customers and hold themselves in high regard as they should, they have earned their place in Phoenix must eats. The servings are more then ample I can't remember a time when I successfully finished my food. I am always taking food home, soon as a sense my gauge going empty I finish it off, I'm not letting that goodness go lonely it would be a disservice to the skilled chefs at La Piñata and their dedication to service. Without a doubt this place is one of the best restaurants in the valley. The dining experience is above average the food just takes it over the top as a package it's worth visiting more than once. Very clean, service is friendly it's a great neighborhood restaurant to visit when you're craving top notch food. I'm not easily impressed but 4 stars from me says a lot. I've been there multiple times and yet to be disappointed as I venture on my mission to try the whole menu. They do offer a military discount. read more

Consistently good Mexican food and service. I've been going to La Piñata since they were on 19th Avenue. Dinner or lunch I've never been disappointed. Great place for friends to gather, for any reason, and celebrate good food and good friendships. Including the staff. read more

We had a La Pinata in the Bay Area (see other reviews on those) but i was SUPER surprised to see the name in Phoenix. While up in California it's Michoacan or Central, this is all about the best Sinaloan cuisine and culture here. I was not let down!! The place is easy to find, and parking is a bit tight, but considering it was packed, that's ok... The drink specials and house stuff was really well put together and they pull a mean Negro Modelo on tap... The service was AWESOME and super fast. Great chips, taste fresh made, great salsa, i want more. All the time. The meals everyone got seemed beautiful so gf and i got her standard, chicken tacos, and i got the Carne Machaca. Super fresh, tasty, well made and well executed. Beans and rice sides were terrific and light feeling. Definitely will come here when in Phoenix. You should too!! Worth going!!! read more

One of my favorites in the Valley, They are known for the chimichangas, however I think their tamales are the best. We always try something different every time we come here. Really haven't found anything bad. Portions are huge, so if you are thinking about sharing, this is the place to do it. Rice and beans are very good. They do offer black beans also. Plates come to your table piping hot, so be aware. The salsa with your chips is a little in the hot side, this is the way I like it. Service is good, can get busy there so sometimes you might need a little patients. read more

Well, another one added to my never return list. Ordered food, arrived exactly when told to be there, paid, was told it wasn't ready yet. And then I stood for 25 minutes waiting. Nothing. Stood staring at the other take out orders. I finally got up and asked for an update on my order. She reached over, grabbed an order that was sitting there for quite some time, and handed it to me. Not an apology. Nothing. So now my family is eating cold food. Great, you won't be getting my money anymore. read more

The service, food and atmosphere is always great here. I have to say tonight was no exception. I believe Monica was our server. She was so personable, friendly and helpful. There was 11 of us I think. It was my sisters birthday, she put our cake in the fridge and. She be ought it out when we were ready for it. Also brought sopapeas to the table, which everyone loved. So again, Monica is great at her job! Thank you. read more

Steak fajitas were great just wish the salsa for the chips were better. Am Bianca is nice and the staff was cheerful

If this place was a song it would be perfectly sweet to perfection, you see the food and atmosphere was perfect and the staff was very friendly. My only regret was I didn't get to go meet the head chef. read more

Great size servings... I had a cheese enchilada, beef taco, and a green Chile Tamales. The Tamales was a little sweet, but now I have to try them all. The flavors were wonderful. Service was top-notch from the front door to the waitress. They were just as lovely when we left. This restaurant gets pretty full around lunchtime. However, knowing the food quality, I'd wait... read more

My two friends and I had lunch at La Piñata following competing at a dog show at the State Fairgrounds. We were allowed to eat on the patio with our two well-behaved toy dogs. A gentleman (owner?) came out to talk to us and told us how much he loves dogs. He talked to us for about 10 minutes then comped our first round of drinks. Our waiter brought us water and shredded chicken for the dogs. The blood orange margaritas are to die for and their shredded beef tacos are the best and their flan was delicious. Before we left the gentlemen came to say goodbye and encouraged us to bring the dogs back. We'll definitely be back next month after another dog show at the Fairgrounds. read more

The best machaca chimichanga in Phoenix. I started going there when they were at 19th Ave and Osborn. Newer location but still great food.

Love this spot!! They have amazing salsa, enchiladas and tacos!! All of the food I have tried here has the best flavor! The salsa is truly addicting. The restaurant is rather small but I feel like the service is relatively fast. The piñata mascot is super cute!! Love the vibe here and food. Must try!!! read more

We were pleasantly surprised with our experience. Seated right away and immediately got service. We shared fajitas for two, it was very fresh and the meat, chicken and shrimp was high quality and very flavorful. We will definitely be back. read more

La Pinata - Mexican Near Me - Phoenix, Arizona

A great menu. I particularly like the chicken burro, enchilada style. Great chips and salsa - the true test of any Mexican restaurant!

We visit Scottsdale almost every year. Now we have been to La Pinata 5 or 6 times. Every time, I am reminded how good it is. For some reason I think I may have over hyped it, but everything from food, to the service, to the ambiance, makes this my favourite Mexican restaurant ever. read more

10/10 awesome place and great food. Service was also good. Had an odor with my order and it was resolved fast. You can smell the deliciousness from outside before you walk in. Can't wait to eat here again. read more

La Piñata is a great dependable spot, it's always busy so expect a short wait and very friendly staff. The food is always good, I've never had anything I wouldn't order again. read more

I was first introduced to La Piñata in 1978, and it quickly became one of my favorites in Phoenix. The food has been consistently great, and the service has always been like family, very friendly and attentive. I have brought many out-of-town friends and relatives here over the years, and the next time in town, they always want to go back. And as a huge bonus, their (new) location is only a few blocks from home, and my wife and I frequently walk there for dinner. We'll be back. read more

Best Mexican food in Phoenix. The cantina style ambiance really compliments the menu. Even on the busiest day, taco Tuesday, the service does not waiver. The shredded beef taco plate and the fried ice cream is my favorite read more

Yummy so delicious and fun! Service is great and owners are so sweet! Fav Mexican by far!

Authentic Mexican... not so sure. It was good but same quality as some Mexican drive thru places I'd say. Service and staff were amazing. Ordered the Cadillac Margarita which was overloaded with ice. Paying for more ice than drink. I'd go again if my friends wanted to go but it wouldn't be my first choice. read more

This is by far my favorite Mexican food in mid-town. The tacos are amazing, big ass burros, enchiladas, tostadas and tamales. I get the tacos every time though, I dream about the tacos. The taco Tuesday specials and happy hour deals are a steal. I eat here almost weekly and so do all the other regulars I see. The salsa is the real winner here, asked for a side of hot sauce and a crispy cheese crisp with green chilis. It's about as close to heaven you're going to get. read more

Amazing service, management & owners! I have been coming to this great local eatery for years and have treated my staff to this place many times, we even had a special Holiday Party hosted by this restaurant here years ago that was a hit. I own a small business right down the street and this is one of our go to spots for tasty & consistent Mexican food, dine-in, or pick up is always great. The service is always top notch, drinks are ALWAYS refilled quickly! Servers are always extremely friendly, helpful & smiling, yes we can tell you are smiling under your masks :) An echoing thank you for your service from me as a fellow service worker!! I hope the staff reads this and it uplifts them. We are so happy since this place got its new location years ago. Everything on the extensive menu I and my comrades have gotten here have been great time & time again. Warm Tortilla chips + fresh salsa are a huge bonus, but be careful not to fill up on them as the portions here are generous & filling. We always plan on coming often and I can say I cant wait to be again! read more

Amazing food and great service. The Machacdilla was unreal and HUGE. Definitely coming back next time we are in town.

If you've been or have lived in Phoenix for a while, you know that we have a lot of authentic Mexican restaurants. La Pinata, hands down, has one of the best Mexican dishes I've had in the valley! We ordered the chicken burrito with rice and beans on the side, and a bowl of chicken tortilla soup. Everything came out sizzling hot, fresh, and absolutely delicious. The service, although it was a busy Sunday night, was also on point. The free chips and salsa were great. Since it was busy, we waited for about 10-15 mins for a party of two. However, once we were seated, our server was very attentive & took our orders right away. There is a small parking surrounding the restaurant. I haven't tried the drinks yet since there is a bar, but I will definitely be back! read more

Reminds me of home...the staff is more than great. Great place to take out of state visitors.

Visited here with about ten family members on 3/25/21. The food was good and the drinks were generous. I had the enchiladas suizas with chicken. They were good. I also had a taste of my sister's chimichanga, which was delicious. The place was packed, but we had a great time. They kept the chips coming, and were very attentive. For a Thursday night, it was packed. read more

Great local Mexican joint. The green corn tamales are best in town.. everything is reasonably priced and generously portioned.

Love their food! I haven't had anything I don't like. Had a prickly margarita last week and it was amazing!

Came with a group of friends. Ate the cheese crisp with diced green chiles. No pic cuz we were hungry. Good crunch and not too greasy. Then we ordered our entrees. This place has generous portions! I got the number 5, which had a chicken taco and chicken enchilada. I added a fried egg. Sooo good. Good sauce, easy to cut with a fork and the Spanish rice is so good. I posted pics of what my friends got: number 1, 2 and a la carte. We ordered dessert of fried ice cream. The cornflakes were uniformly encrusted around the ice cream. The shell was a pretty touch. It's a good place to eat. Service was good if not a little slow. read more

My new favorite local restaurant! I love La Piñata for its cozy atmosphere, festive decor, attentive service & authentic food. I've come here solo & sat at the bar but also brought different friends here. This is my go-to spot for Albondigas Soup ~ super delish, nurturing, huge portions. My friend had Pork Carnitas and raved about them. Consistently yummy and always friendly/hospitable. Amazing food. The chicken and steak was very juicy and well flavored. No need for extra sauces due to this. We are from out of town, and go to Mexican food almost weekly at home. We love our local places, but this is hands down the best we've had. The portions are huge, and the food is flavorful and authentic. The food was fast and the service was great. I wish we lived in AZ just so we could come back more often! read more

Went there for the first time last night. Service was fine but my food was not eatable. Got the Taco Salad with ground beef. The beef had a very peculiar taste to it, the lettuce was wilted and any guac or sour cream was practically invisible. The salad was served in an extremely stale tortilla bowl. It tasted rancid. I told the waiter about it and he did not offer to exchange or comp this poor salad. My wife got the chimi and ate a few bites. There is no flavor to their foods. It is like they purposely left out flavor. First and last time there. read more

Tried for first time. Service was decent but food couldn't compare to Jordan's Mexican. Jordans is 10x's better.
