Whoa man, this place is good! My boyfriend and I were craving some crawfish today, but we wanted to venture out and try other places besides our usual stop, Cajun Corner II. After doing a bit of Yelp research, LA Crawfish was our winner. This joint is located inside 99 Ranch Market. A few steps from the front door and you'll see it on the right. It's true, they only offer garlic-flavored crawfish, but they allow you a bit of customization when it comes to the level of spiciness. **IMPORTANT: CHECK-IN BEFORE YOU PAY.** Around the time of this review (and several months before, according to older reviews), checking in gets you 10% off. I was totally going to take advantage of this deal, but forgot at the last moment - probably because I was too focused on deciding how many orders of potatoes to get. (Yes, corn and potatoes have to be ordered separately.) After ordering, you can grab whatever sauces you wish (I'm a cajun seasoning + lime girl, myself) and prepare your table by covering it with the plastic sheet they give you. This idea was pretty brilliant and it REALLY makes for easy clean-up; idk, maybe I'm just easily impressed. A few short minutes later, we were handed our little crawfish bag and the crawfish carnage commenced. The moment you open your bag, that strong smell of garlic and spice just fills the air...and you KNOW you're about to dive into something tasty. There are chunks and chunks of garlic slathered all over the entire heap, and since the crawfish was spiced up with chili oil, it wasn't too hot for my boyfriend and, at the same time, it was perfect for me. Everything tasted amazing. My only major complaint would be over the size of the crawfish. There were about 10 big ones in total and the rest were babies; I almost felt guilty ripping them apart. Shoulda let 'em live a little longer so they'd be more satisfying, but since that wasn't the case, it was a classic lose-lose situation. :( Isn't it supposed to be peak crawfish season too? I'm also annoyed to have all these old Asian people gawking at us eating while they stroll by. One lady even walked up to the table next to us and had the audacity to ask, "Can I look at your food?" Rude. And creepy. We'll definitely be back to use our 10% off deal, but I'm a little bummed that we couldn't use it this time. A bag full of baby crawfish, as tasty as they were, just isn't worth full price to me. read more

This place has amazing crawfish. My family and I usually go during crawfish season where we would get 20 pounds of crawfish and blue crabs; all cajun style. The seasoning is fantastic. The crawfish are usually decently sized and fresh. The blue crabs were super sweet. I love how after getting your seafood, everything is pretty much self serve. Holy cow, this place is awesome. A buddy and I came here today, 3/21/12, and the price per lb. was 5.99. They have two flavors, cajun and garlic butter. I ended up ordering a lb of extra spicy cajun and garlic butter with a single corn. My buddy got the same with but with sausage. I got the roll of paper-towels and table cloth and waited roughly 3 minutes for our food to come out. We cracked into the extra-spicy and boy was it EXTRA-SPICY...blury vision, popping ears, sweating, tingling lips and runny nose were all symptoms of this heat level and I loved every bit of it. The Garlic butter was a little bit sweeter and helped cool my mouth off from the extra spicy. Somehow my buddy got the garlic butter in extra spicy and it was defintely extra spicy. I came to the last crawfish and realized I still had the corn left...I took 3-4 bites and just couldnt handle it anymore. It took me a good 10 minutes to overcome the heat. Besides it being overly spicy, it actually taste good. I was really impressed and this is now my spot for tasty crawfish. Dont be pushed away by this review if you arent into spicy food, they do have other levels of heat, and for those that like challenges, eat 3lbs of the ghost chilli flavor and you'll get a shirt along with 10% off future purchases. read more

It is gross to order 3lbs crawfish and what comes with it is dirt and grass that's not suppose to be in the bag. My appetite dissipated as I was picking out the cramp. Unless they properly clean their crawfish and stop selling us dead ones, I am going somewhere else that is CLEANER. Also, four bucks for extra garlic is ridiculous. read more

I've heard about this place from many people. I love that its BYOB! SAVES YOU MONEY!! When I first got the crawfish I was shocked, thought it be a bit more spicier. Well I was wrong. After 4 crawfish later, the spice will hit your tongue and make you sweat like no other. The sausage was really good, but I wouldn't recommend putting the potatoes and corn with the spices because it really is spicy. It's inside an asian market so there is plenty of seating! However, if you want to drink BYOB you have to drink inside the seating area. There were lots of seating. I would definitely go back. Wow what the heck happened to this place?? Went there for the first time since the opening and I have to say that the crawfish was a HUGE let down. They claim to have "live" crawfish, but most if not all of our crawfish were dead before they cooked. I know this because almost every crawfish I tried to peel broke off before I could get the entire tail out of the shell. And it also had a funky taste to it that you only know if you eat old dead crawfish.. Maybe I am just too spoiled because I always eat at crawfish and noodles on bellaire.. Worth the wait for a parking space. It's a tough lot to maneuver in especially with my big truck. There is no ambience to speak of since it's in an old converted Fiesta. But the food certainly makes up for it. I would suggest the wings since I'm not a crawfish fan. We love the tamirin wings as well as the 5 spice basil. Definitely check this place out! read more

So Sorry, we will not be back for the crawfish. This season, we have tried Crawfish Cafe (good everything except the long wait for a table and a bit sweet on the seasoning), LA crawfish on Richmond (10-15% of the crawfish were dead, good taste though), And Cajun kitchen (overall good but $11.99/pound - ouch!). Unfortunately, Today was our first experience of muddy tasting crawfish - as though it was cleaned right. I know, they're called mud bugs; however, none of the other places we've tried this season have tasted like this. My wife has had issues with this place in the past regarding Freshness of the crawfish but she seemed to forget that since it's been at least 2 years since we've been back. Well, sad to say, for whatever reason just didn't taste right. The sauce is the standard for LA crawfish, good; however, we couldn't get past the muddy taste. Initially, our first batch was about 30 to 40% muddy tasting. We asked them what we could do and they offered to exchange for a better batch. The next one was better, larger, but 10 to 20% muddy. We didn't want to waste them so we just dealt with it and just decided to finish it off. And, of course, we felt guilty for bringing it up so we didn't bring it up again. Have they came and asked us how it was to follow up, I think things could have been one star better; however, they just kind of left it there, said "I hope this is better", and presumed hoped for the best. Well it didn't turn out the best. So, so far this season, the best taste has been Crawfish Cafe and Cajun kitchen. We will Never return to this location for crawfish. Sorry! read more

Gotta love a place that specializes in Crawfish. And they do it very well! I had the medium spicy and although it was good for the rest of my party, not nearly enough heat for me. I need to be sniffling or I'm not happy! The corn, potatoes and sausage are extra, but are a must for Crawfish in my opinion, although their potatoes were a little undercooked on mine. So bummed to start it with a 2 star. My boyfriend wanted me to try a place he had gone to for years in the past, but not in the most recent year or two. Seating is really cool, and although the tables in their section may be full you can go right out to the other area. It's BYOB which is great as well!! Well I was so excited for the crab leg option and multiple flavors! The typical Cajun hot flavoring is really good and very hot but great for crawfish! I got the garlic medium flavor on my crab legs which was delish! So first thing is his crawfish came out very very quickly where mine came out like 15 minutes later. It's almost like they had pre prepped the crawfish and it was overcooked to prepare for the evening rush. His was soggy, and only a few normal to large size and half were really small. My crab legs were also soggy and couldn't even use the crackers to crack them......so it was actually really hard to even get open. Overall very disappointed! I was so excited to come here often, but my boyfriend won't even let us try it again. Why risk waisting over $80+ ? Updating my review. The last 2 times, in a couple of different locations, We have noticed they have changed the recipe for the spicy garlic. It is not what it was before this place expanded at the rapid pace that is has, this year. I think upper management seriously needs to do some quality control so they don't lose customers who find better crawfish. This was not one of the favorite places that we went to, this year, because of the lack of consistency in their product. I really want for them to succeed. Ok so i can't go by much except for the crawfish that i ordered to go. They're are currently going for $5.99/lb which is not bad. I ordered 3lbs spicy cajun and 4lbs spicy butter garlic. They were both very good and tastey. i have no complaints about the taste and spiciness was just right. I like how they put them in the bags. the only issue i have are the prices for the corn and potatoe, .50 & .75 cents per item. the service was good and the young lady up front was nice. I went on a tuesday and noticed that the tuesday special are blue crabs for $2 each but they had ran out already. (at that price, i see why) I will be back to get the full experience and sit and eat there. read more

This is our favorite place to eat crawfish. Both the cajun and garlic flavors are delicious. We also love the sweet potato fries and lemon pepper chicken wings. When I drag my husband there (he doesn't eat crawfish), he likes to get the pho sate. It is super delicious and really unique (I've never even heard of it.). The service is good and fast. This is my go-to crawfish place! It's clean, the staffs are friendly, and their beignets are amazingly delicious! They also have other foods, such as pho, wings, and fries. You might want to avoid here on the weekends (Fri, Sat, & Sun) because this place has a small space and there is ALWAYS a long wait during those days. It's located inside 99 Ranch Market, so parking could be hard to find especially since it is a grocery market. Either way, I love their crawfish and their seasoning is perfect. I always get the shrimp & crawfish, along with potatoes and corns. As for the seasoning, it depends what I'm craving. They offer garlic butter and cajun. They also have 3 spice levels, which is mild, spicy, and extra spicy? I forgot. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who loves crawfish. read more

I have been disappointed lately with this place. The crawfish was limp and soggy with not much of a flavor to them. I probably won't try them again. The garlic flavor is way better than the Cajun. I also wish they sold beer like the other crawfish places do but I guess that's not their fault. There are way better crawfish places around... I'd recommend passing this one up read more

This is the best crawfish I have ever had. I ordered two pounds of garlic butter and I finished the bag nearly by myself. I really didn't want to share it was that good. It is a self serve kind of place. You get your own seasonings and butter. They give you a table cloth and you spread it yourself and that really didn't bother me and my partner. I went here about a wk ago with a couple friends and ordered the crawfish with potatoes, sausage and corn. The crawfish was pretty good, but you have to be careful with the spice level you request. I don't eat spicy things much but I got a two and it was a little too hot for me but i got used to it. Crawfish overall tasted fresh (not frozen) and was good. After the crawfish, we had beignets. Those were really good and I definitely recommend trying it. Customer service was great. It didn't take long for it to come out and the people working stopped by occasionally to ask if we needed anything else. read more

I'm not a big fan of the crawfish flavors, but the wings are on point. (I would definitely order at least two different flavors of wings, since they have a lot of unique flavors like tamarind, garlic butter, thai basil, etc.). Pros: Wings Cons: Crawfish (the Garlic Butter flavor tastes like Cajun... so I don't think a lot of seasoned crawfish eaters would like it), no mix/match flavors on a dozen wings, tight seating areas (so groups of 4+ will find it difficult to find comfortable seating arrangements) and limited parking). Note: There are a lot of LA Crawfish restaurants opening up around Houston. However, the restaurants are independently owned and the menus are different. For example, the new LA Crawfish restaurant on Tomball Parkway (in the NW side of town) only has the basic wing flavors, so if you wanted to try tamarind or thai basil you are out of luck. read more
