The crawfish were good ! They just had more small than big ones and they were dirty . They did not clean them up at all which I hated. The season was great though and corn was yummy . We got 4lbs but think we got short Clean the crawfish next time .. grossed us out . Service was cool read more

I got 3lbs of crawfish and 1lb of blue crab and I've been here before but it's been a few months and I would NOT recommend coming here ever again. All of the crawfish were straight up dead and the service was terrible because when I brought it up to their attention they didn't care at all and looked at me as if I was speaking another language. The atmosphere was completely empty and besides the fact that all of their seafood was dead it shows that they don't care because everything from the bathrooms to the floors were dirty once we sat down and went to wash our hands. Please if you have any self respect or value your taste buds DO NOT GO HERE!! read more

Thier crawfish is good both size and taste, considering we are not in crawfish season. I like thier chicken xtra spicy house seasoning. But check this out, I ordered again total 3lbs, one lb of cajune and 2lbs of cray-cray 4-1 but it wasn't three pounds may be 2lbs. C'mon, not the first time eating crawfish( I get like 3-4lbs) and not the first time ordering from here so I feel wronged. When I called to let the restaurant know, a lady answered the phone and she said they have a camera and yap, all within weight. Seriously?? Idk how they do business like this. It was a rip off. Taste though? It was good crawfish, no complaints there. read more

The crab legs are good but I'm not a fan of the thick rub sauce they use but don't knock it till you try it !

This is going to be super short and super sweet! I was in the mood for corn and potatoes so I decided to go to a seafood restaurant because I like the way they season the sides. I decided to go here and I was not disappointed. I ordered 2 corn and 3 potatoes, I believe. It may have been 2 potatoes but that's besides the point. I just have to say that I really, really enjoyed my corn and potatoes. They came covered (in a good way, not too much, not too little) in butter and seasonings. The seasonings were on point! The corn was cooked perfectly! Had a nice chew to it. So sweet that paired perfectly with the seasoned butter. The potatoes were cooked perfect, yum! They were not over done or under done. I will be back at some point to enjoy their crab and shrimp. read more

Hey I just met you And this is crazy But here's my number So, Crawfish maybe? Houston is full of these awesome crawfish shops, and this one has all kinds of New Orleans Food and Asian flavour as well. It's cheaper than most of them, and generous with great flavour, and it's located over at Gessner and Harwin. Definitely some really good stuff. One of the better ones I've tried for Crawfish in town. read more

Why so dingy and dirty? The ambiance did not hit. At all. The crawfish was fine ($7.99/lb) but honestly, the only reason I chose this place was because I was violently craving crawfish and they were the only ones open before noon. read more

It's been quite awhile since coming to LA Crawfish Shack and wow things have definitely changed. The place was dimly lit and just didn't give a clean experience. The limes were brown and let's just say the crawfish tasted old and frozen. I ordered two lbs of live crawfish and it definitely tasted like it had been reheated after being frozen. Very deceiving! I won't be back! I think it's time to close this location down read more

I will say, being a crawfish fanatic.. the flavor and the HEAT was THERE! It's not just red pepper, it's unique. The crawfish were slightly over cooked. A little dry, the taste was great, just wish they had more sauce in the bag. Wasn't terrible but wouldn't come again Don't take a date here, the inside is very very low class. They do have some beer, Mike's hard and Smirnoff ice. Wait staff wasn't very welcoming either read more

Best crawfish in the city!! I haven't even had the pleasure to dine in yet. I'm a frequent user of food delivery services. I've ordered crawfish from so many restaurants, but this one is the best! We went right after lunch and waited about 30 minutes. Order 5 pounds of easy peel shrimp with 2 boiled eggs, and 2 corns house favor is always the best! Hubby and I have been wanting crawfish for awhile now, and he had some time to spare after school before he went to work so he wanted to have dinner with me. I'm pet sitting in the Memorial area and this was one of the closer restaurants for delivery. I ordered us 6lbs of their House Special, which is all of their flavors combined (garlic butter, cajun, and lemon pepper), spicy, at $8.99/lb as well as their corn and potatoes. I have to say I was not a fan, a lot of smaller ones, and it was really all heat with just the spices caked on, I couldn't taste any flavor. Their corn was also stale and potatoes not fully cooked, needless to say I was highly disappointed with my order. read more

So I found this place ordering from the wrong LA crawfish on ubereats, but a wonderful mistake. The first time I ate here was by delivery, and solely by food, this place was 10/10.... I usually go to normal LA crawfish, but the last time we went, they charged by the number of clusters and they gave us itty bitty clusters, I was so disappointed, so this LA crawfish shack is gonna be my new holy grail of snow crabs. It's funny cuz bust by the name itself, "shack", it's very very fitting. The second time I went here was at the physical location. Not what you'd expect- looked very much like a shack inside- but I could care less. There was even a leak from the ceiling they were trying to catch with a tub. However the food is soooo goood, their bathroom was super clean, and the staff was super nice. So happy I found this place by happenstance read more

LA Crawfish Shack - Shrimp , turkey neck & potatoes - Cajun/Creole Near Me - Houston, Texas

Wednesday 12/15/16 Well I'll be damned... It's mid-December and the crawfish was actually REALLY GOOD. Might I mention the crawfish was medium to ALMOST large sized???? wow. It's not even crawfish season and it'ls looking like that. My coworker and I went to another crawfish place last week and we just weren't satisfied. We left not happy. [read other review] We decided to take a long lunch from work and I looked up crawfish places that open BEFORE 3pm. I stumbled upon LA Crawfish Shack and saw the mixed reviews but still went with it. Plus the most recent review was in 10/1/16 and earlier so I didn't have much to read off of. We took a chance. I called and asked for market price and I was told it crawfish is currently $6.99/lb. I told my coworker and we thought it was too good to be true, considered crawfish is not in season and most places right about now are selling at a ridiculous amount. Let me just say, we went, we ate, we ordered more, left happy and full. 8 minute drive to and from work - CHECK Open BEFORE 3pm - CHECK 2 lbs of House Special - DELICIOUS 1 lb of Garlic Butter - DELICIOUS 1 lb of Lemon Pepper - DELICIOUS Order of Seasoned Fries - DELICIOUS The crawfish were NOT puny. They were NOT mushy. Crawfish were not DEAD. [please check photos] My only gripe is that they charge you 50 CENTS for lemons/limes. WHAT. Other places, it's free of charge. I can understand that they charge for like potatoes or sausage or corn, but for LEMONS/LIMES? You've got to be kidding me. I can't eat my crawfish without my salt/pepper/lemon/lime mix to dip my crawfish in. Regardless of the flavor, I've got to make my mix. The flavor, the meat, the size...mind blowing considering it's FREAKING DECEMBER. How is this possible. Atmosphere is good. Lots of seating with booths and tables. Service was really good too. We split our check so that was good. [check receipt] My coworker and I agreed that we would come back. read more

I've been going to this restaurant faithfully for about 2 years now, and I go at least once a month, but today was the last. I have never in my life had sour crab or shrimp until today at this place. Now, ordinarily, I would talk it up to a bad batch and leave the place of business to correct it. But when I talked to them about it, I was told it was probably the seasoning. And, I just told y'all I have been going here- and getting the SAME THING for about 2 years. The issue I had was I made it clear I was not looking for money back l, and I even settled for not having the food replaced as I know I'm too stunned to bite into another. The problem was, they kept selling like it was all good and even told me all the crabs they were going to pick from to replace mine had the same look- it looked like mold and tasted worse than spoiled milk! So- I will never be going back again because they have knowingly served some bad food as of today. read more

Came here last year and got the blue crabs with their combo sauce. Not being from Houston I was new to the seafood boils as back home we are big on steamed crabs that's smothered in an old bay seasoning so this was knew to me. I absolutely loved it!! The ambience was very relaxed, in fact I was too over dressed. The sodas are served in a can and the inside looked kind of dated. But the food trumped it all, I cannot wait to return! There was plenty of parking as well. read more

The house sauce is better than the garlic butter, if getting crawfish. Service was a little slow. But the food made up for it. Our food came out HOT. Will burn your mouth, watch out. That's the way I like it tho. They sell beer but you have to join their club to buy it. They have live crawfish. Sizes range from big to small. Price is reasonable, around 7.49 a pound. Not bad. Will be back for more. Came back for some lunch. They did not have live crawfish. Such a disappointment. I have been to other places and they have live crawfish. I'm not exaggerating about how this food taste. I'm completely coming back here. I wish my children were here. Especially my two daughters they would tell me how perfectionist the cook who prepare the food. This place looks like a hole in the wall. And once your inside this establishment your so shocked. I said I hope they know how to cook. If your think I'm lying come to this place of enjoyment and you tell me your honest opinion. I don't know how they received such a low score but you be the judge!!! Thank you LA Crawfish Shack!!! Shannon, you must come and try it. You will giving them the highest rating. This place has gone down, mostly due to the pandemic, I presume. I'm still in shock. When you arrive there is a sign that states all dine in and carry out orders are placed at the register, and then you pay. Basically it's just a place with a roof, a few TVs, table and chairs. No table service, so why should I leave a tip? You have to dump your own trash. Napkins are provided at the dispenser. RR facilities are atrocious, can't blame the tenant for the ceiling caving in, water leaking from the ceiling. The RR needs to have some care and attention. Just a bunch of young employees bussing tables. Ordered Fried Calamari, Fried Alligator and 2lbs Garlic Butter Medium Spicy Crawfish. The crawfish were good, the fried alligator was not worth the price. The size and food quality was poor. The Calamari, food quality was great but for portion size very poor. We will never go back. I had to apologize to my hubby because I made the suggestion to go there. read more

I've visited LA Crawfish Shack more than once. The food is really good. I've never dined in, but I'm kind of glad I didn't because the last time I was there waiting for my food customers complained about finding bugs in the booth they were in. The most common dishes I order are The seafood gumbo - mild/hot Shrimp or plain Jambalaya - mild/hot The Cajun fries - seasoned mild/hot These are the three that I mostly order and believe me they aren't shy with the seasoning. I've been coming here for years and I love this place but the last time that I came it wasn't as good as it usually is. I ordered crawfish, shrimp, king crab legs. The sauce was good but the crawfish were small and usually the crawfish are a nice size. I didn't get as many crawfish as I would have gotten if I ate inside. I ordered everything to go once I check my bag the king crab legs weren't so king. They were about the size of snow crab legs. I should've just ordered the snow crab legs instead of the king crab because I would've gotten more crab for the price that I paid. I will return but I will not buy the overpriced king crab because they aren't a good size. read more

I came in on Saturday around 6p.m and there was a 45 minute wait. Upon getting our table we were ready to order and decided on chicken sausage gumbo and Boudin balls for appetizers. My server was nice but the apps took a bit long, the gumbo was scalding hot and the balls were fried a bit too hard. Our entree's consisted of a the mild, house flavored crawfish, 1 lb each, they literally give you 2-3 nice size crawfish and the rest were very tiny, super tiny!!!! another deal breaker, the crawfish appeared to be frozen and not fresh which didn't make sense bc we are currently In crawfish season. The gumbo had a few pieces of chicken and mostly sausages the roux was decent but there was hardly any rice. I decided to grab a 1/2 pound of shrimp since the crawfish was a no-go. The shrimp were really good but i do not know if i would come back since i prefer crawfish during the season. read more

I'm not gonna use the cheap decor as a reason for a bad review or the untrained waitstaff (when we asked about the fried broccoli he told us he had no idea why it was even on the menu) or the limited drink choices (both beer and soda) or the really odd seafood smell when we first walked in...and the location doesn't bother me. Good food no matter what part of town it's found is good food. So let's get to the food. I had the crawfish - 2 pounds at 6.99 per. A bit steep for the little ones I got. It was nice to be able to choose the heat level and the seasoning. I took med and Cajun. They seemed a bit dirty but not too bad. But they were SMALL. I don't know what large/big seems like to the other reviewers here but more than 2/3 of mine were small enough to have been thrown back. The flavor and heat were really pretty good and most of them came right out when I tugged. So I'm not gonna complain too much about them. But they were small. I did get the little corn but no potato. The corn was bad...soggy and old tasting. My dining companion got the fried catfish and shrimp platter with corn (it was worse than mine), fried broccoli (which would have been really good it they had put some cheese in it or on it) and french fries (which were delicious). At $19 I expected better - much better. The catfish was frozen at some point. The shrimp still had the veins down the back and the breading was exactly the same bland cornmeal on everything on the plate. EVERYTHING. I've had worse fried seafood but it's been a while and it wasn't this close to the coast where there are good fresh seafood markets. For $19 you'd expect FRESH fish. We are always looking for a new joint to grab a bite nearby. We had been seeing the advertising for this place on our cable and decided one afternoon to check it out. Our favorite place for crawfish and "shack" style seafood is up off 1960 (Bluewater Seafood) and when we don't want to drive too far we'll go down to Gessner and Westheimer to Ragin Cajun. Wish we had done either today. With all of the really good neighborhood seafood shacks and boats in the area a place like this sticks out like a sore thumb. FYI- you have to fill out a "membership" card to order beer here as they are a private club due to proximity to a church. I filled mine out with a fake name and address because I have no idea what they actually do with that information. read more

LA Crawfish Shack - 2 pounds of small crawfish - Cajun/Creole Near Me - Houston, Texas

Okay i came back two years later and the management has significantly improved! The food was great, our waiter (edward) was friendly and attentive and helped us make our order. The food was fantastic and the service made this a great experience. I'm glad things changed from my previous review! Easily one of THE WORST dining experiences of my life. We were a party of four very easy going. But waitress was so absent minded, confused and generally couldnt think her way out of a paper bag. We had to ask for water refills several times, ask for napkins, ask for lemons, ask for straws etc etc. We asked about items on the menu and she had no idea about the entrees and didnt suggest anything. It was so bad that I just started laughing because I knew we were on a hidden camera game show. Like seriously this cant be real life! It was so bad that one of my friends asked if it was her first day (we wouldve gave her a break) and the waitress said no. So she clearly provides horrible service everyday. More training is desperately needed! One of my friends spilled her sweet tea and it made a huge mess on the floor. We switched tables and no one cleaned up our previous table or mopped even up till an hour later. Gross. They dont buss the tables as bowls and eaten crab and crawfish are speckled throughout the restaurant. I hate eating near other peoples scraps and trash. This also makes me wonder whats going on in the kitchen if the front of the house is such a pigsty. Someone clean this place up! We ordered dessert, the cheesecake which was supposed to have a strawberry topping, instead it had a thin syrup that looked like cough medicine and the cheesecake was obviously store bought and old. We told the manager and he actually argued with us that the topping was a homemade soufflé. Seriously sir? Im gonna need you not to lie to customers lol. Anyways he took it off our tab. Oh another thing, the plastic silverware is beyond strange for a sitdown restaurant. Theres also a note that prints out on your receipt saying "DO NOT STIFF YOUR WAITER" which means that this is a problem that the waiters encounter frequently...well surely if the service was better they wouldnt be stiffed!!! The one star in this review is for the seafood( crawfish, snow crab, potatoes corns and sausage) because it was actually extemely good. Everything else just sucked lol. I feel bad writing this but it was THAT bad. Save yourself and go to a cleaner more professional establishment, its worth the extra money. read more
