Service is spot on! Seafood gumbo- some of the best in the area. I have seen the restaurant grow from a make shift shrimp Boat to a full restaurant with a beautiful outdoor seating area. The only reason Captain Bennys is not getting 5 stars- pricing. Too expensive for the area. Being as close as they are to the gulf, prices should be cheaper. I will continue to visit this place as it is one of my favorites when in Houston

My wife shared her cup of seafood gumbo and I was happy 'cause it was some of the best we've had. I enjoyed an eight piece shrimp basket with fries, hush puppies and garlic bread. The fried shrimp were battered with cornmeal, usually not my favorite but these were very good, the fries were average. My wife enjoyed and overshared the popcorn shrimp appetizer. Between the two of us we finished everything. The popcorn shrimp batter was not cornmeal. We ate on the outside deck. This location only has bar seating with high stools on the inside. We'll be back. Great service by Jackie A.

The food is cooked awful. The food taste old. The food has no seasoning. Go to Capt Benny's on Main. Main has the best fresh cooked seasoned food. The atmosphere is is nice too. They even have Daiquiris. Go to Capt on Main in Houston. No more Stafford, they are messing up some gulf coast seafood

Decided to give this place a try and I'm glad I did. Forgot to take pictures of the oyster both raw and baked. All the food was fresh and came with lots of flavor. Not one complaint about anything that was delivered to the table. Not many places can fry scallops and still be as juicy as theirs was. While the place is small for groups, please be patience while eating here. The service is as good as it gets and when I say the young lady work 10/21/2023 around 7pm, she kept a smile on her face even when handling all the tables by herself. She had back up with delivering food and drinks, but she was the one taking orders and keeping tabs on the tables. She did an amazing job and deserves huge appreciations. Of course appreciations to the kitchen and the rest of the staff at this establishment. Thank you for the wonderful experience and we will sure to be back.

Trying Capt Tom's competition, Capt Benny's! Not bad, but pricey. Bigger selection of options than Capt Tom's If you buy a dozen, all you get is a dozen. Capt Tom's raw or fried oysters you always get way more for a cheaper price. When they are small Tom's may give you 14 to 16 oysters raw or fried! It's a nice place and I like the outside eating area. A dozen oysters was about $5 higher per dozen at Benny's and I get more than a dozen at Tom's! Winner, hands down Tom's!

My delicious left overs. I forgot to take the pictures while I was there. ;-)

What I don't like about them is, I can't get Redfish and Shrimp as a combo. Have to order separately.

We order Cod fish baskets and seafood gumbo. Both are fresh and delicious. Will definitely come back to try their other items in the menu.

Good service. Fresh seafood. They just need a fly zapper if you are sitting on their patio.

Service is great but $37.98 for a dozen of oyster is crazy I make a mistake if not asking the Marker Price first ‍

My husband ordered the red fish pontchartrain and I had the snapper Opelousas which has a couple small shrimp and crawfish in garlic sauce. They were both really good. I think we preferred the snapper just based on the thin fillets but the red fish was exactly how it should be. Each was like $15 and came w rice and a veggie (his was corn). We paid the extra 1.50 for garlic bread instead of regular bread and I wouldn't do that again. Only one side had butter and garlic and it wasn't very impressive. The meals and sides were very plentiful and the sauces were great. My husband also had a cup of lobster bisque and really enjoyed it. The prices are amazing! The service overall was a bit slow, if you are in a hurry just let them k ow and I bet they'd help get you in and out. Totally worth checking out!

Also, Outside the window was a woman dancing frantically with two small children at her feet. I think she was looking to 'party'. The owner/waiter was friendly but not really interested in our order. We had to flag him down several times. One time when he was missing in action, we discovered he was outside with the dancer! Anyway, food was good, prices were reasonable and the owner became very personable over time.

Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen did NOT disappoint !…read more We ordered a mix of fried seafood, oysters, and a loaded baked potato, and everything was so flavorful and satisfying. The fried platter was crispy, well-seasoned, and not greasy at all. The shrimp and fish were cooked perfectly, and the portions were definitely generous. The oysters were a standout, fresh, buttery, and topped with so much flavor. And that loaded baked potato... stuffed with all the good stuff and honestly a meal on its own. Service was friendly, and the atmosphere was lively (it does get busy, but that just shows how popular it is). If you're craving seafood that's rich, flavorful, and actually hits, this is the spot. I've had great mango lemonade and other mango drinks that were excellent, this wasn't one of them. I sent the lemonade back and tried a virgin Bloody Mary. It was good but the bartender didn't provide the traditional garnish that accompanies the drink. I asked for some Tabasco sauce and Jazmine took her time giving ma a bottle. She literally did 3 interim transactions before taking the 7 seconds it took to get the Tabasco. What has happened to the service at Pappadeaux? My fried crawfish were TOO salty so I returned them and they remade the order. Today the kitchen was slow but these things happen. My crawfish tails arrived hot and tasty. These were excellent! The food was average unfortunately, not like the Pappadeaux of old. The ambiance was subdued, tame actually for a lunch crowd. Do I recommend this restaurant, not really. GN3

After 3+ years of searching for something that gives me that Atlanta-level comfort, I can finally say I've found a real contender in Mikki's Soul Food Cafe. This was my second visit, and I ordered the same thing both times--the meatloaf dinner over rice with green beans (and this time I added mac and cheese). That meatloaf? Listen... seasoned just right, tender, and covered in a rich gravy that leans slightly tomato-based without being overpowering. Poured over fluffy rice? Yeah... they knew exactly what they were doing. The first visit was a 10/10. The green beans were everything--well-seasoned, tender, with bacon and onions. It gave "somebody's grandma been cooking all morning." Now... this second visit? The green beans came in a little confused. I got more potatoes and bacon than actual beans. I'm talking hide-and-seek levels trying to find a green bean in there. Still flavorful, but the balance was off. And the mac and cheese? Not my ministry. It was very heavy--extra cheesy to the point where the texture and flavor just didn't land for me. I won't be ordering that again. Let's talk price real quick: $19.95 (2 sides) $23.95 (3 sides) At first, I paused. But once you see the portion size? You calm down real quick. These are generous plates, easily stretching into two meals. Now here's my biggest issue--and it matters: The to-go packaging needs help. That gravy on the meatloaf is delicious, but it's also very liquidy. When you order to-go (like I did for lunch), it spills out into the container and bag during transport. By the time I got back to work, my tray was covered in grease and gravy, and it made eating a whole situation. This could easily be fixed by putting the gravy in a separate, sealed container. Final Verdict: When Mikki's hits, it hits. This is some of the closest I've found to real Southern soul food in Houston. A little more consistency with sides and better to-go packaging would take them all the way over the top. Rating: 4.5 stars (9/10) 1/2 And yes--I'm coming back. Next time, I'm bringing my mom for Sunday dinner.

Crawfish & Beignets was one such place, with a prominent presence in Chinatown with the support of the local community. They were among the highest on my list for a long while, but the subsequent deflating of the experience meant it was memorable for the wrong reasons. There were various things to made it more of a letdown, which included very slow service with a side of saltiness (#1) some 'tude, and a side of overpriced dishes. The latter was fueled by foodflation, but when coupled with the food blandness (#1), it becomes the worst kind of double whammy. My bowl 3 Ibs of mixed crawfish with crab legs and shrimp were a solid portion but the Cajun (mix) seasoning wasn't there. Even the extras of the potatoes and corn were bland, which prompted me to ask for additional seasoning and some spice. Ultimately, it wasn't worth the 45 minute wait. I also shared a number of appetizers with my group, which included beignets (fluffy, airy), fried rice (salty), boudin egg rolls (surprisingly tasty), calamari (so-so), and oyster nachos (best appetizer). It was all much more appealing than the crawfish that I subsequently had. One thing I'll always remember is the words etched along their wall in an attempt to be cute: "Peel me. Suck me. Pinch me. Repeat." I'm all for all of those things, but not here. This isn't because I wouldn't want to give them another chance, but because they're now closed. All the peeling, sucky, and pinching will have to be somewhere else. __________ (#1) Surprisingly, not from the food.
